It wasn’t long and Tc and one other of Paul’s men found them in the manager’s office and killed those one as well.
I went back to the door and told them that we killed them that they can come out now. I heard the lock on the door slide open, she opened the door slowly, she stuck her head out and looked around.
I told her see no more zombies out here.
She opened the door all the way and came out, there were three others in there. Two women and a boy that had to be at least 16 years old. They were scared and they looked good for being in there.
I told the woman my name was John.
She said that her name was Pam and the other were Tim, Kathy, and Vicky. She said that they have been stuck in there for almost two weeks.
I asked her how were you getting food and water?
She said that when they were in the store they moved some food and water in there just in case some zombies got in there.
We were getting ready to head back to base, the four people we found really did not want to leave the store. They said that was how one of the people was bit and came bit in and didn’t say anything to the others. That was how the seven people were turned, just because one person went outside.
I told them that we have a place not too far from there and they were a lot of people there including the president of the Unity States and his wife.
They looked at each other and said that if they can ride in the back of one of the trailers.
Paul said that he didn’t see a problem with that. He asked her if she knew how to use a hand gun?
She looked at him said let me see it. She pulled the clip and slid open the chamber, she slid the clip back in and released the slide to put around in the chamber and looked to make sure the safety was on.
Paul said I guess you know how to use a hand gun, and then told her to hold on it. He asked her, who taught you how to use a weapon?
Pam said that her father was in the military for years before he passed away and he taught all of his kids on how to use and shoot a weapon.
I said that it was time to go all the trucks were loaded and we need to get back to base.
The 4 people we found got into the back of the trailer and we closed up the door. We then headed back to the front of the store to get in are truck to head to base. It didn’t take much time to get back to base. When to truck with the survivors in it got through the gate we stopped it and open the back door so they could get out. The president was there as to door opened the, the people that were in there stood at the opening and looked around before they got out. The president welcomed them and told them that they were safe here.
Paul helped Pam out of the truck I could tell that he took a liking to her. From what I could tell she told a liking to him as well.
Paul said he was going to take Pam to show her around so that she can see that we are safe here?
I told him to go ahead I don’t have a p roblem with that.
The president also told him to go that we got this here.
We them take the trucks to the school to get the unloaded. The president told me to go and get Paul and Col. Anders and have them come to my office, I need to speak with all of you about something.
I went on Paul he was just finishing up Pam turned her around the camp. I told him that the president needed to see him, and that I will be there soon as I find Col. Found the Col. in the dining hall eating and I told him that the president needed the us. We headed to the new White House as we call it, we headed into the president’s office. Paul and the president were there waiting for us. The president said that he would like to have a team head back to the old White House, and get any and all supplies weapons and ammo from there.
The Col. asked the president he thought that would be a good idea?
The president said that that is why I have you guys in here; we need to come up with a way to get more supplies and food. If you’re going to start over, we are going to need everything we can find to use here. I know I’m asking a lot from you guys, but we have more survivors come in here we are going to have to find a way for everyone to survive even longer.
We all talk about going back to DC. but we were not sure if we were doing the right thing going back there.
The president asked Paul and I how we came up with some of the thing we did? We told him that we let the people decide if we should do it.
Ok then the President said, we will let the people decide it we go or not. Paul said that he will round everyone up and have them outside of the new white house, right after dinner tonight. You can ask them what we should do? I asked the president how much stuff is there in DC. that we can use, is there more than three semi-trucks can carry?
He told me that we would need at least five semi-truck to carry everything back here. The Col. Said that he still thinks we are making a big mistake, but let’s see what the people think about it.
We heard gun fire coming from the other side of the old fire station now the new white house. We all ran to see what was going on. When we got there a few zombies got through the barricade that we built at the end of the bridge. The people we put there as guards did a great job taking them out. Paul and I jumped over the fence and went over to the barricade, we were going to try to seal it back up. Paul grabbed some sheet medal and was getting ready to put it over the spot that they were getting through. We heard Bang Bang and a zombie drop right in front of us. Paul drop the sheet medal over the hole. I grabbed some tires and put them on top, we ran back to the fence and climbed back over. We thanked the person that took out that zombie.
The Col. Said that we are going to have to redo that barricade here very soon. I already knew this it’s just that we have been doing other things instead. There were a few other things that we need to fix around here.
I told the Col. That I think that he is right about us not going to DC. I told him that there is a lot more that we need to do here before we start heading out that far. All that stuff can wait until we make this better then what it is right now.
The Col. Agreed with me, and said that he was going to go and talk to the president about all this. He told me to go and talk to Paul to see if you can get him to come around to our side of thinking.
I told him that I would talk to him.
I walked over to the school to go to the dining room to get something to eat. Paul came in asked me what was up?
I told him that the Col. And I was talking about not going to DC. just yet. We still have a lot to do here before we can head to other places. I would like to make sure this place is very safe and I know that no zombies were going to get in here. Paul said that he under stands I was talking to my sister today and something inside of me said you can’t leave yet, you need to make this place safe for her and everyone we brought to this place.
John told him the Col. Was going to talk to the president that we were not ready to leave yet that we still have a lot to do here.
Paul replied we need to go and talk to the president now so he knows how we feel and that we know that we cannot leave just yet.
Headed over to the pres ident’s office to talking to him.
John told Paul that the president is going to be disappointed.
Paul said that he might not, he might think that we are right about needing to get this place safe before we go to other places.
When we got there, the Col. was already there talking to him. We walked in and told the president that we were talking, and we also think that it was too early to go out that far we have so much work here to do.
The president said that the Col. already explained it to me, and will hold off for now, but I want you guys to make a list of everything that needs to be done. John and Paul told the president that they can make the list, and have it to him in about a week. John and Paul walked out of the president’s office, and were talking about everything that they think that was going to be need fixed and done and put on a list.
Chapter 6
A few weeks later Sabri
na told her dad John, that her and TC were talking about getting married before she had her baby.
John asked Sabrina she has talking to her mother yet about all this?
She told her dad that her mother told her to come and let him know, what her and TC were talking about. She also said that her mom is happy and excited about them getting married. She also told her father that she was happy and excited that she could not wait.
John told his daughter Sabrina that he was happy and excited also, and asked her when did they plan on getting married.
He was so excited that her father was happy and told them they would like to get married as soon as possible. She said that they would like to do it by the end of the week on Saturday and that she was going to invite everyone.
John told her to make her plans, he was going to talk to Paul about a few things. They both went their separate ways; John was deep in thought but everything that was happening. He was thinking about what his daughter was young. That he never thought that she would have to live and raise children in a zombie apocalypse. He was also thinking that he would never thought that there would ever be in apocalypse like this.
John met up with Paul, and told him about TC and his daughter. Paul had some great news he wanted tell John also.
Paul told John that he needed to sit down, I have some news that I want to tell you to. John asked as the bad news, because right now I’m the happiest man in the messed up world?
Paul said that it was great news.
John walked over to his desk and sat down in his chair and said lay it on me bro. Paul said that Pam and I are hitting it off, and I’m going to ask her to marry me. I got up and shacked his hand and gave him a hug. I told him maybe you and Sabrina can have a double wedding.
He snickered and said now that would be cool.
He walked out of the office and I sat there think about everything. I could not believe that it looks like everyone must be feeling safer. They seem to be making a life here, everyone gets up every morning and go out to do their part. I got up and headed to the clinic to see how everyone there is doing. The president’s wife is doing better I stopped in to see how she was feeling. When I got into her room she was sitting up and talking to her husband. I think she should be out of the clinic in a few days. I heard her say that she couldn’t wait till she got out to meet the people that live her, she also said that everyone she has met as very nice to her.
I told the president and first lady that I have some good news. They both looked at me and said at the same time, well want is the good news. I told them that my daughter wants to get married by the end of the week and that Paul is going to ask Pam for her to marry him.
The first lady said that she wants to be there for both.
The president said that he would be glad to marry them if they would like. I said that, that would be great I will let them know.
Paul came running in and said she said yes she said yes.
I grabbed him and told him to slow down. What are you talking about? He stood there trying to catch his breath, a few seconds later he was still trying to breath at the same time he says she said yes.
I asked who said yes?
Pam said yes that she would marry me.
The first lady looked at him and said, did you run away right after she said yes. He stood there with a blank look on his face, shit yes I did.
The first lady told him that he better goes find her, she might think that she scared you.
Without saying a word, he took off.
I told the president and the first lady that I better go and catch up with him, the president and the first lady were still laugh. I was laughing inside I could not believe he ran off right after she said yes. This is something that he is never going to forget, Pam will make sure that he doesn’t, it took me a few minutes to find him. He was going into the school, that was where she worked in the back part on the kitchen she helps keep track of the food we have. By the time I caught up with him he was just opening the door to the kitchen. As we walked into the kitchen Pam came over and started to chew him a new ass, Paul put his head down. As Pam was letting him have it she looked at me and winked. Paul drops to one knees and he started to apologize, I could hear it in his voice that he was about brake down and cry.
Pam bent down and told him that she was only playing. She told him she is sorry. Paul got up and hugged her and kissed her. He kept saying that he was sorry for running off right after you said yes.
Pam told him that she knew that he didn’t mean to run, he knew that he was so excited that he had to run to tall someone.
Paul said that he would never run from her ever again. He looked deep into her eyes as he told her that he loved her so much. Pam knew that he loved her so much, because she loved him just as much. Her heart would beat faster and faster when they were close. His heart would do the same, his hands would sweat, he would also be weak in the knees. There love was going to be forever in their life. They both wanted to one heart and one mine.
Chapter 7
The day has come for Sabrina and TC to get married as well as Paul and Pam. They were in the school getting ready. I was going to walk my daughter down the aisle and then I was going to be Paul’s best man. My day was going to be a full day of happiness. I walked into the room that Paul and TC were getting dressed in to see how they were doing. Paul was drinking a cup of coffee and I could see his hand shake. I knew he was very nerves, just as I was when I got married to Mia 25 years ago. Tc was also nerves nether one of them could tie there tie.
I went over to the room were my little girl was getting ready. When I walked in to the room she stood there. I could not believe how beautiful she was. She reminded of her mother on the day we got married. I told her I wish I could have gotten you a wedding dress. Dad you have done so much for me and I understand that you wish you could do more but how the world is now your hands are tied. We can redo it someday when the world is right once again. I was so glad that she found someone in this messed up world that made her happy. I told everyone I seen that today is going to be a day I will never forget. I was hoping that today nothing bad was going to happen, but I have this bad feeling that something is going to happen and there is nothing I can do to stop it. We would like to have everyone in our little home town here come to the wedding, but we need some people out there to keep guard.
Pam came walking out of the changing room that she was in, she sat down in a chair in front of a mirror. She looked into the mirror, Mom and Dad I wish you both were here, but I know you’re in a better place than this messed up world. I have no idea if you are alive Don but I wish you were here also you are my brother and I miss you more every day.
I walked over to her and asked her if she was ok and is there anything I could do for her?
She looked up to me and said it would please me if when you walk your daughter down the aisle if I could walk with you both.
Sabrina spoke up and said yes you can walk down the aisle with us. My Dad would be honored to walk you down the aisle.
Pam had tears running down her face, I asked her if she was ok?
Pam said that she was so happy that I would walk her down the aisle. I told her that Paul was like a son to me. I would do anything to make the ones he loves happy as well.
I went to the office that Paul and I used, I had a six pack of beer hide there. I grabbed it and headed back the to the room that Paul and Tc were. I thought that a couple of beers would steady there nerves a little. I handed them both a beer, Paul asked where in the hell did you get these? I thought that we had no more. Told him that I hide this six pack just for a day like this.
The president came in, he seen us all with a beer in are hands. He looks at me and says, where is mine. I would like to drink one with you all.
The Col. came in a few minutes later, and the first thing out of his mouth was give me a beer also. I would love to drink a beer with the men that made this day possible. The Col. opens his beer and said I would like to make a
toast to the men that saved and kept all these people safe.
This day was the most important day for a lot of people for in your little town. Everyone was trying to make this day the best day for the four people that were getting married. The sun was shining it was going to be a beautiful and peaceful day we hoped. Linda and Sam were in the kitchen making a wedding cake. Other people were making food for the wedding, there were people outside setting up chairs and a walk way for the brides to walk down. A couple people even made an arch for them to get married under. Everyone in this place that work together every day came together to make this day a good and a happy one. It was something that wasn’t about survival it was a day to for everyone to come together as a large family.
It was getting closer to the time for them to get married. They have the dining room all set for after the wedding. The food is just about done, Linda and Sam got the wedding cake done and it was a big one. The spot that they put all the chairs and arch was done and painted. The only thing left is for them to walk down the aisle.
The time has come for them to tie the knot. Mia found someone to play the wedding march on the Oregon. Mia had her to start playing, Paul and Tc were with the president waiting for me to walk the girl to them. We started to walk I had Sabrina on my left and Pam on my right. We had a little girl walking in front of us. She was the flower girl. We had a she little brother carry a little pillow with the rings on it. He was walking just ahead his little sister, we walked slowly I was talking to the girls as we walked. I was telling them that they have two great men down there waiting for them. Pam said that she was nerves this is her first time ever be married. She said that the longest time she was ever with someone was 4 months, and he left me for someone else.
I told her that he wasn’t worth your time, if he couldn’t see what he had then he was a moron.
I got the girls down the aisle, I stood next to Paul and Tc as the president started to marry them. It was looking like everything was going good when I heard gun shots coming from the back of the school. I told them to finish I would go and see what is going on.
