Passing out another, Marisha called, “And may you get laid like a hardwood floor!”

Devolving into cackles of laughter, the girls took their shots before Scarlett slid from her seat.

“Are you just going to sit on your pretty asses all night, or are we going to dance?” she yelled as she stood, pulling Marisha behind her as she worked her way into the mass of bodies writhing on the dance floor.

  Chapter Two

  Scarlett

By the time Sindari began pulling her from the dance floor, Scarlett was ready to take a break and get off her feet. Plopping down in the booth, she downed her drink in one swig.

“It’s time for the other surprise,” Sindari yelled over the music.

“Let’s go freshen up first,” Marisha said, nodding toward the bathroom.

The girls finished their drinks and wound around the dance floor, slipping past the reaching hands and low calls without a blink. They had done enough partying to know better than to give the Alphas any attention, lest it make things worse.

Blinking the sting from her eyes as she stepped into the brightly lit bathroom, Scarlett made her way to the sinks. Splashing water onto her chest and neck to cool off, she checked her makeup for any smudges.

“So, what is this second surprise?” she asked, meeting Marisha’s eyes in the mirror as several of their friends claimed stalls to relieve themselves.

Smiling, Marisha moved closer to Scarlett’s back.

“Oh, you’ll find out soon,” she said, wrapping her hand around Scarlett’s tail and giving a tug.

Eyes popping open in surprise, Scarlett spun to get her tail out of reach as a trill of sensation skated up her spine. Marisha knew how sensitive her tail was and enjoyed teasing her regularly.

Letting out a fake growl, she lifted her lip and scowled at her friend.

“Keep teasing me when I’ve been drinking, and I might just decide to drag you to bed with me tonight.”

Laughing, Marisha turned away and pulled open the door, waving a hand for Scarlett to go through ahead of her.

“Oh, you won’t have any time for her tonight if things go our way,” Sindari quipped as she slipped past Scarlett and out the door.

Brows drawing together, Scarlett wrapped her tail around her leg where Marisha couldn’t grab it again as she passed her and followed Sin.

“What is that supposed to mean?”

Sindari and Marisha shared a mischievous grin as the other girls chuckled behind her.

“You’ll find out soon!” Marisha said.

As they headed towards the front of the building, Raquel grabbed Scarlett’s elbow and pulled her to a set of stairs she hadn’t noticed before. Flashing her wristband to the guard standing at the base, Sindari waved them past him and up to the second floor.

Walking through a set of doors at the top of the stairs, Scarlett was surprised at how quiet it was in the hallway once the doors swung closed behind them. It was almost as dim as the club below, but the sconces spaced every few feet on the charcoal-grey walls gave the impression of sumptuous luxury.

They walked for a little way before they came to another set of doors with a guard waiting outside. Sindari spoke to him in a low voice that Scarlett strained to catch but was unable to make out over the quiet conversation of the girls behind her.

“Follow me, please,” the guard said, turning and opening the door behind him.

The opulence in this room took Scarlett’s breath away. The walls were once again black, rich tan curtains hanging from the ceiling interspersed with expensive sconces. Tall tables were scattered across the back of the room while buttery suede couches were arranged on the black carpet facing the stage ahead of them.

The wall behind the stage was the same shade of tan as the curtains and couches, while the floor was a polished black with veins of glittering white, like the outer walls of the building, that shone under the bright lights flooding it.

The guard walked to the two couches in the center of the stage and held out a hand to each of them.

“These are reserved for your group. Enjoy the evening, and good luck.”

Marisha gripped Scarlett’s hand, pulling her to the couch on the left with Sindari as the others settled onto the second couch. A waiter arrived, but Scarlett was still too preoccupied with looking around the room to pay attention to what her friends told him before he slipped away.

They weren’t the only ones in the room. A couple of the other couches already had people lounging on them, and more people were trickling in. By the time the lights dimmed, every couch was filled, and there were people standing along the walls and surrounding each of the tables in the back.

Finally drawing her attention back to her friends, she leaned closer to Marisha.

“What is going on? Is this what I think it is?”

After the deafening noise of the club, this room seemed too silent as Scarlett’s heart fluttered in her chest. She knew what went on during the Rathsima Unity Festival, but she had personally never attended one of the auctions.

  Sindari gave her a wink.

“We thought you might enjoy this particular auction. They have a few… choice specimens.”

“But I have no need for a slave. I live by myself in a small apartment. Why would I need any help?”

Both girls chuckled and shook their heads like she was missing something obvious. As the lights in the audience dimmed, the stage lights flared and an Ikavuan man made his way from the back.

“Good evening, and welcome to Algar-Din’s most exclusive auction. Only the finest specimens grace this stage—strapping, loyal Alphas ready to fulfil your every fantasy; soft and yielding omegas trained to submit in the most beautiful ways. There is something for every taste here, so without further ado, let’s see our first jewel up for bid.”

As he waved toward the curtain, a woman stepped out from behind it. She was tiny with voluptuous curves, and Scarlett thought she could smell slick all the way from where she sat. She knew the woman was an omega before the announcer began to rattle off her details, and preference for males aside, she couldn’t help her attraction to the little human.

Eyes glued to the show, Scarlett barely heard the auctioneer as he had the omega take different positions on the stage, her scrap of a bikini barely covering the important bits as he rattled off the bids. It seemed like less than a minute before the woman walked offstage, having been sold for a shocking amount of money.

She glanced at her friends, sure her surprise was clear as they grinned back at her. As odd as it was, watching the auction was exciting, and the energy in the room made her skin tingle as the next slave was brought onstage.

The offerings alternated between Alphas and omegas, a predominate amount of them human. Caught up in the show, Scarlett found herself enjoying it far more than she’d ever thought she would. It was interesting to see the different ways the announcer showed off each slave, and she was even tempted to bid on a couple of the omegas herself.

Her jaw dropped when the second to last slave came out. His violet eyes stood in sharp relief against his ebony skin. An omega from Tular, he stood over six feet tall, typical for his race. His shimmering white hair was cropped close on the sides and a little longer on top, showing off his pointed ears and the tiny ridge of horns along his hairline. Long and lithe, his body was bare but for a loincloth that left little to the imagination.

Mouth watering, Scarlett leaned forward and took in a deep breath, trying to catch the omega’s scent as a low rumble began in her chest.

When he strode to the center of the stage, his beautiful eyes caught hers. Kneeling as he was directed to, his gaze seemed to tug at her, and her core clenched at the sight of his stiff cock beneath the rag attempting to cover it.

She was almost too distracted to notice the look Marisha and Sindari shared before smiles broke out across their faces. Her eyes remained locked on the male the entire time he was onstage, a fierce bidding war going on over him for several minutes be
fore the winning bid was announced for a jaw-dropping amount.

Scarlett couldn’t explain the disappointment she felt when the omega was directed to stand and leave the stage, and she stared after him for several long moments before collapsing back into the couch, choking off the growl she hadn’t realized she was emitting.

Clearing her throat, she turned her head to see both of her friends staring at her with wide grins pulling at their lips.

  “What?”

  Chapter Three

  Kralk

Standing against the wall, Kralk hung his head and took a deep breath as he fought to subdue his reaction. Every time he was sold, it was the same, the arousal and need burning through him—especially since he and the others were sold as ready to breed, which meant they had been denied suppressants.

It didn’t help that he was swamped with Alpha pheromones. Standing next to one in the line, plus the audience filled with them, ensured he had no chance to clear his head of their heady influence. His cock was leaking so much he had a distinct wet spot on the front of his loincloth.

Sucking in another deep breath, he lifted his head and glanced around. They were waiting in a row of cages just off the side of the stage. Once the auction was over and the tabs paid, their new owners would come to claim them.

Kralk couldn’t help the surge of adrenaline flooding through him again as his erection twitched against his belly. He’d been in the system ever since he had first presented as an omega and his parents were forced to trade him in to clear their debts. He had been sold many times over the years to both good and bad owners, so he knew he should be afraid, but he couldn’t help that his body liked the attention and uncertainty.

Clenching his eyes shut, he tried to shake the image of the woman in the front row. It was usually too dark to see the audience, the bright lights blinding him to anything past the edge of the stage, but moments after he had walked from behind the curtain, she had leaned forward, the glow from the floor sparkling in her deep blue eyes.

Unable to look away from her, another surge of blood had shot through his shaft. The dark hair piled on top of her head had accentuated her pale skin, making her eyes and pouty red lips pop. The darkness had hidden most of her, but he could see the top of her cleavage straining against a red dress that seemed to be painted on, and his blood had roared in his ears, almost drowning out the voice of the announcer giving instructions. Kralk was sure she was an Alpha.

Thinking about her now was preventing him from getting his erection under control, but he couldn’t shake her image from his mind. Her eyes had never left his the entire time he had been on stage, so he knew she couldn’t have bid, but he couldn’t help wishing that she had been the one to purchase him.

Sighing, Kralk opened his eyes as noise invaded. Light flooded the holding area as the last sale of the evening was made. He watched a pair of trembling girls as they were led to the cage next to him to await their new master—twin omegas, fresh in the system and still virgins, if he had to guess. The poor things had been the highlight of the show.

Clinging to each other, the stench of their fear and arousal reached him as the door to their cage clanged shut. Trying to give a reassuring smile when their eyes met his, he nodded in understanding before turning his attention to where the buyers would begin to trickle in.

No matter how unwilling or scared the slave, it was impossible not to be affected by the thought that the people in the audience wanted you bad enough to pay exorbitant amounts to own you.

Trying to clear his mind and calm his racing heart, Kralk knelt in the middle of the small cage. Knees spread with palms resting on his thighs, he waited for his new owner, issuing a silent prayer that it was someone planning to keep and use him themselves and not pass him around to others.

A shiver rolled down his spine as memories of the brothel he’d inhabited tried to surface, but he shoved them away, focusing on the here and now. He had done his time, learned the tricks to make him desirable and increase his value, and had praised the gods when he reached the point of being valued highly enough to be sold in private auctions. The more someone paid, the more likely they were to refrain from damaging the goods or sharing.

Beginning to grow impatient as one after another of the other slaves were claimed and taken away while he was left waiting, Kralk tried to refrain from fidgeting. His shaft was still erect but was slowly softening the longer he knelt on the cold floor.

By the time he was the last one still locked behind a cage door, he was completely soft and beginning to worry that there was a problem. Not wanting to think about what would happen if he had to return to the main auctions, he struggled to control the bile crawling up the back of his throat.

If the buyer failed to pay or there was some other issue, he would likely be returned to the main auction house in the center of the market. Lumped in with the other breeding and pleasure slaves, there would be a higher chance of him being sold to someone who would put him up for use by others.

As a male omega, and one from an outlying planet, Kralk was considered exotic. Many Alphas wanted to use him just to say that they had. They tended to care less about causing pain or damage since they were getting their one use of him that they paid for, and he couldn’t stop his body from clenching as he shuddered in remembered pain.

Taking deep breaths to steady himself, he forced his muscles to relax as he kept his eyes trained on the door and had to choke back a sob of relief as the knob turned, noise flooding the previously silent space around him.

Jerking his eyes to the floor of the cage, he waited as heavy footsteps made their way towards him. When they stopped outside his door, Kralk swallowed hard and dared to peek up through his lashes.

The sight of one of the auctioneers caused his heart to thump to a stop, and he choked on the surge of bile that tried to force its way up his throat. Taking in a gasp of air as the door swung open, Kralk forced himself to swallow the lump and raise his chin as the man reached forward, holding the end of a leash.

Limbs trembling, he stood when the man directed him to, expecting to be led back to the holding pens below the building or over to the kennels at the market. Brow furrowing when the man pulled him towards the door leading out to where the audience had sat, a spark of hope flared in his chest.

  Chapter Four

  Scarlett

Scarlett barely saw the last set of slaves brought up for auction; she was too distracted trying to figure out why her friends were grinning like loons. They refused to answer why they kept looking at her and giggling, whispering between themselves as the last sale was made and the rest of the audience began to leave.

Scooting forward to stand, Scarlett realized none of her friends appeared to be moving to go.

  “Uh, are we leaving?”

“Not yet. I know the announcer and want to talk to him before we go. We just have to wait here until the room clears,” Sindari said quickly.

Settling back into the couch, Scarlett shrugged and sipped on the drink she had forgotten about on the table beside her. Grimacing at the slightly watered-down alcohol, she couldn’t help thinking about the male omega.

Omegas were already rare, and finding a male was even harder. She had only ever seen one other, and that was back before she had presented as an Alpha. While not a virgin, Scarlett hadn’t had many partners because beta males didn’t like how dominant she was, and she wasn’t satisfied with a female companion. She enjoyed cock; she just wanted to be the one in control of it.

Smirking to herself, her gaze slid to the side door where people who had purchased one of the slaves went to retrieve them. Curious to see who had ended up with the exotic male, she waited, but he didn’t appear. She wondered if there was a different exit they could have taken, or if he was still in the back, but she looked around and realized she and her friends were the only people left.
