She expected this to be a tough point for John because it was clear to Lisa that he really did think he wanted to get serious with her. Unfortunately, he knew precisely how to counter her concern. He sat up, took a figurative step back, and started counting off points on his fingers.

"So what you're saying is: one, you don't want to get married; two, you don't want to move in together; three, neither of us should quit our jobs or give up our apartments and move to each other's city; and finally four, we shouldn't even consider ourselves going steady."

Lisa couldn't suppress a smile. She really did like this guy, which was what made him so dangerous. She stiffened her resolve. "That just about covers it. That's—"

John interrupted her. "Now let's consider what I want!" He lifted a single finger on his other hand. "One, I want to keep fucking you!" He looked from the one raised finger on his left hand to the four on his right. "Is there something incompatible between these positions?" He folded the fingers of the right around the one on his left and pumped that finger in and out of the others.

Lisa eyed the hands, fighting to suppress a chuckle. She thought she had resolved this point in her mind.

Unfortunately, she really wanted to keep fucking John, too.

She just needed to be certain he would not press for something more. She wasn't going to get all tangled up in this guy so she could get hurt again. "All right, our desires are not incompatible so long as you agree to meet my conditions."

Pure happiness radiated from John's smile. It frightened her how much this man seemed to want her. She had believed Billy wanted her too.

  "I agree," John told her.

Lisa didn't think she believed him. Fortunately, it would be easy to test his assertion. "Good, I want you to find out what color hair Robin has on her pussy!"

  "What? This again?"

  "That's my condition."

John made a visible effort to calm himself, and then took Lisa's hands into his. "Honey, I don't understand, but I'm willing to let you set the rules. You can decide when we get together. You can decide when we talk on the phone. I won't ask you for any kind of a commitment. Hell, let's be honest, I don't know you well enough to know if I want to commit. But let's keep Robin out of this."

That proposition was so seductively reasonable that Lisa almost let herself consider it. But reasonable could be dangerous in affairs of the heart, so she stuck doggedly to her original plan, no matter how irrational it had begun to feel.

"No! Robin is the proof that you're not too serious about me. As long as you're pursuing other women, I'll know you 70

don't expect too much from me." And I'll know not to expect too much from you.

"But..." John's eyes suddenly widened. "What didn't you tell me? I never asked. You weren't wearing a ring and I assumed..."

The suggestion so surprised Lisa that she failed to take advantage of the opportunity. "I'm not married, John, and I'm not seeing anyone. I just—"

"But you'd like to be? Who is it? This guy, Doug?"

"Doug?" Lisa's shock, tinged with just a hint of revulsion at the notion of dating Doug, must have been evident in her expression, because John suddenly seized on her friend as an opportunity to foil her plan.

"So let me get this straight," he told her. "For us to keep seeing each other, we have to prove we're not serious about each other."

Lisa started to interrupt. We had not been any part of the plan. John was the one who was supposed to be diverted. She just wanted to get back to her life. John's jealousy over her imagined boyfriend perfectly exemplified the sort of complication she wanted to avoid.

John spoke right past her. "So I'm supposed to find out what color Robin's pussy hair is and I presume I can't just call her up on the phone?"

Lisa tried to regain control over the conversation. "No, you have to fuck her, eat her out, and generally rock her world."

John had been friends with the woman for four years. Surely, if he got in bed with her that friendship would bind him tighter than his one-night stand with Lisa.

"Now I don't mind telling you that I don't think very highly of this plan, but I'll agree to try on two conditions."

  "Conditions?"

"First, you have to do the same thing to Doug, but since there's probably no question about the color of his pubic hair, you can just measure how long he is instead."

Lisa grimaced. She just couldn't help herself. The thought of making love to Doug was that unpleasant.

"Is there a problem?" John asked, unable to keep a hint of hopefulness from his voice. "Is Doug gay? Or ugly? Or don't you think I deserve the same consideration you do? If we're going to prove we're not serious about each other, that is."

Lisa knew John expected her to refuse or back down, but he obviously didn't know her well enough. She was far too competitive to avoid a challenge, even under these circumstances. "Okay," she told him.

John's face sagged with initial disappointment, but he rallied and plowed ahead anyway. "Second point, Doug, and whoever else may get pulled into this sick game, wears a condom when he fucks you. And I'll wear a condom when I'm not with you."

He reached out and grasped Lisa's chin, holding her face firmly in front of his. His dark angry eyes stared directly into hers. "Make no mistake! I intend to keep fucking your bare pussy with my naked cock and we don't need to share risk factors with half the country."

In that moment, Lisa believed that John would agree to anything she wanted. She could have her cake and eat John too. She felt liberated by his anger. He would go when she 72

said and come back when she called. She shoved John back to the floor and straddled him, her pussy on fire with excitement. She loved games and loved the fact that John would play them with her. "So how are you going to do it?"

Even clothed, Lisa's breasts directly in front of John's face clearly distracted him. Not to mention her bare pussy on his softened dick. John cupped her breast and rubbed her nipple through the fabric. Lisa closed her eyes and simply enjoyed the sensation.

"How are you going to do it?" she asked again.

John brought her nipple to his mouth and bit it gently through the shirt, sending sparks of pleasure flashing through Lisa's body.

  "Do?" John asked her.

"Robin." Lisa answered, impatient with his short attention span.

John began to unbutton Lisa's shirt. "I haven't the faintest idea. I'm not Casanova. I have no idea how to get her. How will you go after Doug?"

Lisa hadn't had time to think about that yet, and said so.

John wasn't really listening. He freed her breast and began to pay serious attention to her now bare nipple.

"I suppose," Lisa suggested, "we should lay down the rules." The thought of this new game completely excited her.

John rolled her over onto her back. His mouth switched to her other nipple.

"We should target our seductions for the same night, so that we can report back to each other the next day."

John stopped nibbling and propped himself up where he could see Lisa's face. "Are you really serious about this?"

Lisa felt no hesitation. In fact the prospect made her surprisingly giddy. "Absolutely!"

"And the thought of you sending me off to seduce another woman, and me sending you off to fuck another man, really makes you hot?"

Somewhat to her surprise, Lisa realized it did. This had started as a plan to make John keep his distance and turned into something even more exciting than last night. She ground herself against his hardening dick. "Oh, yes."

"And you've done this how many times before?"

  John's sug
gestion surprised Lisa. "No, never, I mean, you are my first one-night stand."

  "Then why?"

She didn't know the answer before he asked the question, but once he voiced the concern, Lisa was absolutely certain of her reply. "Because for the first time in my life, I feel sexy enough that I can. For the first time in my life I've got this incredible man who lights me on fire and will do anything I ask. And because I know I'm really not ready for a serious relationship and last night was hot enough to make me think maybe I am."

John shook his head. "That doesn't make any sense."

Lisa grabbed his cock and pulled it to her pussy. "Just shut up and fuck me, John! It's the last time you're going to get to use this thing today. Tomorrow night you have a date with Robin."

  Chapter Seven

  "You did what?"

Lisa pulled the phone away from her ear in pain. She could still hear the speaker clearly from six inches away.

"Let me get this straight, little sister. You met a charming, handsome, white man who swept you off your feet and made you orgasm more times than you can count and you told him you won't see him again unless he first fucks another woman?

  Are you insane?"

Sometimes Lisa wondered why she shared secrets with her sister. She always seemed to confuse things and overreact.

"I...well... no... he. Sue, he was coming on too strong! He wanted me to stay the weekend!"

"You just fucked his socks off! What did you expect? That he'd kick you out into the street? Of course he wanted you to stay the weekend. You made him come five times in twelve hours."

  "Six," Lisa corrected without thinking.

"Six? And he was still walking? Lisa what were you thinking? I have six kids and the most my husband's come is twice. Get him on the phone right now and call off your game!

Tell him you'll be on the next train to New York City!"

  "You just don't understand."

"What's there to understand? Is it because he's white? You know Mama's kind of screwed up on this issue."

"What? No! That's not a bad thing. It's kind of hot actually, watching a white dick—"

"Enough with the graphic details," her sister said. "If it's not his race, then what... Oh!"

  "What?"

"This is about Billy, isn't it?"

Lisa's spine stiffened even as she denied her sister's absurd suggestion. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Of course you do. Billy had you wrapped so tightly around his little finger that you couldn't breathe without him. When he dumped you to go back to his ex ... Well, let's just say you learned all the wrong lessons."

Lisa ground her teeth together, but Sue wasn't through talking.

"This guy, John, must have really gotten under your skin for you to react this way. If you really didn't want him around, you'd just walk away. Why can't you take a chance on him? Every guy isn't Billy!"

Lisa couldn't contain her temper any longer. She hated it when Sue brought up her first serious boyfriend. "Who are you kidding, Sue? You have no idea what you're talking about. Watching Dr. Phil everyday doesn't make you a psychologist! For God's sake, you barely graduated high school. What do you know about any of this?"

Her sister fell silent for several moments—long enough for Lisa to consider feeling bad about hitting her sister where she knew it would hurt the most.

Sue sighed over the phone. "I may not have gone to college like you, but I do have six kids and twenty years of marriage under my belt. And those twenty years have taught 77

me that you can't always be in control. Until you accept that—

  "

"This isn't about control," Lisa insisted. "I just don't want to get serious—"

Sue snorted. "Everything is about control with you, Lisa: work, play, family and especially relationships. If you haven't recognized that then you really do need a good therapist."

  "I don't need—"

"You're not trying to make John prove he's not serious about you," Sue continued. "You're trying to prove you don't care about him!"

  "That's not—"

"The problem is that you're either already serious about him or you want to be, but by the time you build up the courage to act on it, you're going to have lost your good thing."

  "I don't want—"

"Get on the phone!" Sue encouraged her. "Talk to him!

Don't mess this up anymore than you have!"

"I'm not messing anything up!" Lisa shouted. It was a relief to finally get to complete a sentence.

  Sue didn't answer her immediately.

"I know what I'm doing," Lisa insisted.

  Still Sue said nothing.

"It's going to be all right."

Her sister finally broke her silence. "No it's not, but I guess you're going to have to find that out for yourself."

"Tonight's the night," John said into the phone. "Are you sure you want to go through with this?"

"Of course," Lisa answered. "Is your equipment suitably recovered? Have you figured out what you're going to do?"

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Robin knows I'm coming over tonight. She thinks I need advice or something. I really haven't figured out what tact I'm going to take."

"Well you better get thinking," Lisa told him. "There's a penalty for failure to achieve your objective."

  "Penalty?"

"Failures don't get to climax next time we're together."

"That may work fine if I fail, but it doesn't help me if you do. It's a lot of fun making you orgasm."

"Oh, so you think I'll fail, do you?"

"Not if Doug has any brains at all. How do you plan to seduce him?"

"I've invited him over to my house for dinner. He's been here lots of time, but this time I'll be wearing only the shirt I stole from you." She paused a moment and repeated herself.

  "Your shirt and nothing else."

John paused thinking about that. He hated what they were about to do; hated the fact that Lisa planned to sleep with another man; hated himself for having suggested it. He had really thought she would back down. Now he had to decide if 79

  by Veronica Tower

he could continue with his part of the game and if he'd still want Lisa if she did.

The possibility of sleeping with Robin didn't disturb him. In other circumstances, sleeping with Robin would surely be fun.

Lisa had hit the nail on the head when she guessed that John had masturbated to visions of Robin's tits. The chance to actually play with them would literally be a dream come true.

No, what bothered John was the reason he was going after Robin tonight. He hated being dishonest. And he doubted that even Lisa knew her own ultimate intentions. Was he supposed to go on sleeping with both women to prove he wasn't committed to either one? Would Lisa introduce someone new when they were finished with Robin? And how would Robin respond when she inevitably found out what was really going on? Did Lisa actually want him to fall for Robin or ... he couldn't even keep track of all the possible permutations.

All of this worry just to get his rocks off? Was Lisa really worth this?

  "John, baby, are you there?"

The sound of Lisa's voice grounded John and answered his question. He knew he'd do anything she asked of him.

"I'm sorry, Lisa. I guess my mind wandered."

The funny part of all of this was that Lisa and he were acting as if all he had to do was walk in the room and Robin would be his for the
taking. God, he knew she'd never been interested in him before. What could possibly make her undress for him now?

  "Wandered to me, I hope."

Lisa was so strange. Had she forgotten that she was the one insisting he play games with other women?

"Just for the record," John asked her, "are these things we're arranging with Robin and Doug one-night stands, or are we supposed to manage things so we can fuck them again."

"So you're not thinking about me!" Lisa's voice carried a decided edge.

  Lisa certainly made life complicated.

"You like the thought of fucking Robin, do you?"

None of this made any sense to John. "Truthfully? No. A week ago, I'd have probably said yes. After meeting you, I don't want to waste time on anyone else."

Lisa's voice softened, further confusing John. "That sounds suspiciously like a desire for commitment." Her voice cracked like a whip. "Now go fuck Robin until you get over it!"

A dial tone sounded in John's ear.

"What the hell have I gotten myself into?" he asked.

  Chapter Eight

Lisa almost couldn't contain herself as she put the finishing touches on dinner in preparation for her game. She was almost as excited as she had been with John in the cab and in the hallway. Not that the situations were equivalent. Then she had been wet with anticipation of fucking a hot guy who couldn't get enough of her. She didn't feel that way about Doug.

First, he fit the profile of a geek, not a hunk; and second he had always been there as a backup for her. No, what excited her about tonight was not fucking him, but the thought of teasing Doug to the edge of explosion and holding him there as long as humanly possible. Dress, food, music, movie—she had planned everything to force Doug over the edge without her ever having to touch him. And if by some chance he did manage to run the gauntlet without creaming his pants or jacking off in the bathroom, Lisa would convince him to let her take a ruler and measure his erection without having to go further.
