The Wolf's Temptation

The rush of hot water against her body sent more goosebumps up and down her arms. Her eyes glanced down to see the reddish pink trail swirling down the drain. Conan grabbed a bottle off a tiled shelf, letting the body wash pour into his hand. He was delicate, gentle. She didn’t even see him grab a sponge, but the roughness of its texture mixed with the heat of the water was sure to let every trace of Ivan rinse off her down the drain.
Conan kneeled before her, letting the water trickle over his body. “Hold on.”
Raven braced herself against the tiled ledge while Conan bathed her feet. One at a time, he washed them, even between her toes. Suds dripped off her as he used the removable shower nozzle to rinse them off. He poured more soap and moved up her legs. He scrubbed them a bit rougher than her feet to remove the stickier areas, which remained after her dispense of justice. She sucked in air through her teeth. “That’s a bit rough.”
“You like it that way,” he told her with a smile. “Besides, there’s no soft or sensual way to wash off blood. Believe me, I know.”
She dismissed the comment as he continued to move up her body, purposely skipping over her center. He washed her stomach and her breasts, taking them into his mouth, teasing them gently with his tongue before moving over her shoulders. Once she was fully cleaned, Raven inhaled deeply, the scent was faint; so faint that it didn’t bother her. It could be that the presence of Conan, dripping wet in front of her stunted her senses of everything else.
“So what now?” she asked him, with her chest heaving up and down in anticipation.
He cocked his head to the side, while his hand slid down the side of her face. “I’m going to do what I wanted to do since the moment I tasted you. Do you still want me to finish what we started?”
“Yes,” she answered.
“Good…”
The water covered their bodies. Conan’s hands felt strong, rough but it’s exactly what she craved. This is what she always pictured an alpha to be like. But that wasn’t Conan. He wasn’t a leader by choice. He deserved a chance to redeem his life. Raven wanted to be the one to give that to him. However in this moment, she wanted him to give her everything she’d been yearning for since the first night they met.
The strength of his fingers as they grasped her flesh, squeezing her gently as he pulled her in close. His tongue slipped inside her mouth, while his hand slipped between her thighs. One finger, sliding up and down and swirling around as her sweet nectar coated him. Another finger slid inside her, up and down and around. With every thrust of his hand, the more aggressive his kisses became. Raven tilted her head back giving him full access to her. She moaned as she climaxed over his hand again and again, while the hot water rained down on them.
A gasp of air escaped her lips as she pushed him back, breaking their connection. “Let me taste you.”
Conan didn’t protest this time as he watched her bright blonde locks sink down his torso to hover above his waist. She left him standing with only the ledge to hold onto as she took his firm erection into her mouth. Her lips were soft as she let the water help her slide around his shaft. Twirls of her tongue made his hips quiver, eliciting a groan of pure satisfaction as he gripped the ledge harder. The sounds of her mouth slurping around him filled the room, leaving her to wonder what he’d sound like moving in and out of her.
Raven enjoyed herself and Conan immensely in the shower. She could feel his orgasm coming and he stopped her. Pulling her face up to his own, he kissed her deeply, passionately as he slipped the tip of his cock into her pussy. The resounding gasp of gratefulness for the sexual tension to melt away echoed around her.
The first thrust into her wasn’t smooth. It was stunted as he filled her. The second pump was easier as he stretched the softer folds of her flesh to fit around his girth. Raven clenched her walls around him, raking his back with her fingertips. She threw her head against his shoulder as Conan pumped into her again and again. They both moaned, groaned, and even began to yell as they satisfied each in the piercing hot shower of Ivan’s condo.
They finally moved from the bathroom to the bedroom. They didn’t care about where they were as long as their passion continued. That it did, as Raven leaned back on the bed. Conan crawled over her, positioning himself between her legs and sliding into her once again. She locked her thighs as he moved in and out of her. Every time he dove inside her walls, she clenched around him tighter.
When they needed a change of pace, Conan pulled out and turned her over onto her belly. Raven got on her knees, arched her back and pressed her torso against the bed. Conan slid back inside her for a few strokes and ran his hands up her back to her shoulders. His pace quickened in that position. The grunts were as primitive as their urges were to satisfy each other.
Raven cried out with her sixth orgasm, exhausted. Her execution, Conan, the entire job was crashing over her with every wave of erogenous bliss that washed over her. As if he could sense it, Conan turned her over for them to finish looking into each other’s eyes. It was a beautiful ending to a glorious day. Once they both came, they collapsed onto the bed next to each other.
Conan turned over to the nightstand and opened the drawer. It was no surprise to her when he pulled out a cigarette. He handed her one, which she took. They both lit up and smoked to a great sex session.
“You can come with me you know,” she blurted out.
Conan turned onto his side to face her. “Go with you where?”
“Back to my cabin. Your cave in real life. You should get away from this place. You need time to…”
He sighed. “No thanks. Being in that close proximity to the Council isn’t something I wanna do.”
That piqued her interest. “Really? Why is that?”
“I don’t think they’d approve of my extracurriculars,” Conan said as he puffed on his cigarette. “Plus, being the son of a disgraced alpha probably doesn’t sit well with them.”
“Look, I know you think the council is this building full of evil, bloodthirsty mongrels that have a license to kill. But I promise you, as an Enforcer, I have never taken a life that was not justified.”
Conan huffed as he put out his cigarette and got out of bed. He stormed out of the room to sit back on the window sill. He hit a button to let the curtains rise, letting the light of the city night into the space. Raven joined him.
“I’m sorry. That must have sounded so harsh and I realize that’s what you went through, but the Council did not just slaughter your parents. There had to be a reason,” she told him in the softest tone possible.
Conan stared off into the distance, taking in all the city lights for a few moments.
“I want to believe that. I really do. But put yourself in my shoes. What would you do if you had to live knowing the people who killed your parents are alive?”
Raven froze. He made a good point. She gently put a hand on his knee.
“Well, why don’t we go ask Corbin about it? I’m sure he’ll be happy to explain everything. Sorry, not happy. Poor choice of words. Again,” Raven said a little too fast, shifting in her seat as she spoke.
“You know, you’re pretty cute when you’re nervous,” Conan said as he got up and pulled her by the hips until their lips were almost touching.
Raven blushed.
“Okay my little Enforcer. Let’s go talk to Corbin,” Conan said.

The fresh mountain air wreaked as Maddox made his way through the trees. He weaved in and out of them effortlessly. It was as if he’d never left. The trees felt like home, but he knew better. This wasn’t his place. He still had work to do in Stromport. But the plan was already set in motion. War was coming.
The sound of running water hit Maddox’s ears and he knew he was near. The rendezvous point placed him in a mountainous region where a waterfall spilled into a discreet area of the forest. There weren’t any cabins in sight. There wasn’t a pack for miles. It was a territory that had yet to be claimed, but Maddox had plans for that. He had plans
for everything.
The sound of large, heavy wings whooshing above the trees distracted Maddox from his thoughts. The ground rumbled from something landing off in the distance. It was big. It was heavy. The air began to smell of smoke and ash. Maddox’s wolf trembled, which made him uneasy. There were very few creatures that could scare him, let alone his wolf. He was fighting his change, waiting to see what was coming.
The only thing to enter the clearing, off in the distance, was a man. He was tall. His ebony skin glistened in the sunlight. His eyes, a light grey, seemed to smolder with flecks of red twinkling in the irises. He was as tall as them, if not taller. His figure was athletic as he twisted his neck from side to side.
“Nice to see you’re still alive.” Maddox joked as he looked at Isaac.
Isaac smiled as he ran his fingers through his hair. He was determined to let it grow out. “Likewise.”
“I guess it’s not too hard to stay alive when your skin is hard as steel,” he sneered.
“So, what about you? What’s going on for the lone wolf? Been back to Myre Falls lately?”
“To see the abomination of Paxton Christian. What kind of alpha marks a human?” he uttered with disgust. “There’s news that she’s carrying pups. Of course, the Council is giving their full support since they will be the spawn of Corbin’s son. I swear he has to be the first to die once we get out there.”
“Easy, brother.” Isaac waved at him. “There are still many tasks for us to complete before we can even think about attacking the Council. You know we can’t do this without the support of other packs and humans too.”
“I thought you didn’t want to support that angle?” Maddox questioned.
Isaac grinned. “The Red Beards are moving west. We’re taking over Los Angeles as I speak to you here, and not through violence and senseless murder…through money. That’s what you’re supposed to be learning from Alan Barstow, Maddox. You’re not supposed to be wreaking havoc and chaos.”
Maddox shrugged. “I’m great with a little chaos. Humans respect violence.”
“No, they respect money and power. I don’t want you fucking up everything my kind have been building. We have an infrastructure across nations that will break your Council and bend them to our will. So do as I tell you and stay on my good side. I’m sure neither of you would want to tangle with a Red Beard Enforcer.” Maddox began shifting around uncomfortably, his eyes drifting to the side.
“No, I do not,” Maddox said very matter-of-factly.
“Listen, I’m not here to muscle you out of this deal. You brought it to me and I brought it to the Court of Embers. They agree that continuing to hide is far more troublesome than living in our own truths. The only thing they’re not so sure about is leaving humans out of the interspecies mingling. They want to create a respectable relationship where we can all thrive,” Isaac explained.
“You know they will not take losing their power without a fight.” Maddox sighed.
“Then their blood will fertilize our lands and warpath,” Isaac said, with clenched fists. “Anyone who doesn’t shift into the new order of things will feel the heat of a thousand-”
Maddox held his hands up. “Okay, okay, relax hotrod. Let’s get there first and then you can decide who gives our pre-battle war cry and who gives the victory speech.”
They laughed it off and decided to go their separate ways, each dedicated to putting things in motion that would change the course of events for all of their kind. Maddox made his way through the trees, shifting into his wolf further away from the waterfall. The sound of those heavy wings above him sent chills down his spine. I sure as shit wouldn’t wanna fight that guy, Maddox thought to himself as he whipped through the forest.

Chapter One
Tree branches nearly whipped Cara in the face as she dashed through the Hunter Oak Forest. The sound of her paws scurrying across the forest floor was drowned out by the rapid pounding of her heart against her chest. She huffed out three short breaths as she continued to duck and dodge her way around the shrubbery. She knew she couldn’t keep this up for much longer as she banked a hard right around a thick tree stump forcing her hind legs to skid across the dirt. A quick shift to the left, she rounded around a huge boulder but came face to face with a solid wall of dirt.
Her big brown eyes scanned the height of the cliffside wondering if there was any way for her wolf to scale it, but it was too steep and she was no feline; suddenly admiring the creatures she would normally detest. Turning around to run, she was cornered. The bear had to weigh nearly 600 pounds, rising onto its legs and roaring fiercely into the air.
Cara needed to make a choice, either play dead or try to run again. Uncertainty rang through her body as she wondered whether to stay in her wolf or shift into her human. It’s what she should have done to begin with. But there she was, backed up against the wall, facing an animal whose only purpose was to be an animal. There would be no shifting, no talking any sense into it because it couldn’t understand. Cara understood she got too close to the Mama bear’s cubs and now she’d pay dearly for it.
Refusing to let her human take the brunt of the exchange, Cara dug her paws down into the ground, bared her teeth, growling and snarling to let the bear know she was ready to fight. She only wanted to distract it long enough for her to get away.
When the bear came back down onto all four of her paws, roaring and growling to Cara ready to accept her challenge, the simple thud of its body hitting the ground shook the earth underneath her paws. Adrenaline pumped through her body readying Cara for a brawl and a brawl is what she got.
She charged the bear with all of her might, snapping her powerful jaws at its nape. The bear howled in pain, growing angrier with every passing strike. It only took one swipe of the bear’s paw to send Cara flying back toward the wall. It knocked the wind out of her. Even with her wolf weighing a solid 200 pounds, she was outmatched. The only thing she had left was her wits because her body was tired.
Cara made one last attempt to outmaneuver the bear but it was a step in the wrong direction. The massive blow from the bear’s body plowing into her was enough to make her dizzy. She couldn’t focus on shifting out of her wolf even if she wanted to. But the bear wasn’t finished with her yet. The strength of the paws beating down her was immense as Cara listened to the sound of her own bones breaking.
Her shortness of breath seemed to only anger the creature further. Searing, agonizing, blinding pain ripped through her body as Cara felt the sting of the bear’s jaws clamp around her torso and then proceed to shake her like a rag doll. The worst part about it, in her moments just before passing out, Cara shifted out of her wolf into her human while still in the bear’s grasp.
Luckily for her, the bear seemed to appall the trick and flung Cara one last time against the wall. The metallic flavor of blood trickling down her thr
oat was the last thing Cara remembered tasting before her eyes closed and everything faded to black.
The sound of voices and leaves rustling around her forced Cara to open her eyes. Her body was stiff, rigid and unable to move. Staring out into the world around her, all she saw were the tops of tree branches as she was being moved underneath them. Glittering flecks of open sky broke through the leaves every once in a while but Cara couldn’t find the strength to speak. She could only close her eyes and reminisce about the time she’d experienced another type of pain; her first heartbreak…
Flashes of a flowing light brown coat, memories of brooding grey eyes that made her body tingle, the sensation of his fingertips as he grazed her skin… every minute Cara laid unconscious was a minute spent thinking about a love lost. His name was Midas and even though he wasn’t an alpha, she didn’t care. She was young and in love, or so she thought...
The scent of pine trees filled Cara’s nostrils. She stirred in pain trying to figure out just how extensive her injuries were, but she couldn’t move. She wouldn’t dare try to shift. It was a painful process to begin with, doing so with broken bones was asking for deformities as she healed.
“Stop trying to move,” a powerful voice commanded her.
“But,” Cara attempted to talk.
The voice moved closer to her, “I understand you’re confused and have questions, but if you move, Kristin won’t be able to set those bones right. You need to be still and save your strength, so don’t talk either.”
Cara wanted to argue, but her body operated outside of her mind and forced her eyes to close again. Falling back to sleep, Cara only seemed to remember the look of fear in that bear’s eyes. It drudged up memories Cara thought she’d long forgotten. Emotions from long ago that didn’t belong in the potential mate of an alpha. Her mother had that same look before she was killed.…
Screams permeated the air as Cara scurried into her mother’s den. Cairo was right behind her as the villagers from the nearby town stormed the trees in search of them, of her pack. Her and Cairo befriended a girl in town, but when her parents found out, it sent everyone into a panic. They chased them out of town, unknowingly leading them back toward the lair. Fire and gunshots exploded through Cara’s memories....
