Notes: At press time, two actors that UNCENSORED knows of changed their pre, pre Emmy reels: ONE LIFE’s Erika Slezak and Bob Woods. Slezak, who originally submitted Viki finding Echo and Charlie in bed, submitted her 40th anniversary episode with Viki and all her split personalities. Woods, who first handed in a Clint-Bo confrontation, decided that his one episode reel for final judging should be Bo willing his son, Matthew, to live.

As for ONE LIFE, head writer Ron Carlivati submitted an unwise submission which is why Llanview wasn’t represented in the Outstanding Writing category. My moles at NATAS tell me Ron handed in episode 11079. Here’s a synopsis:

Cutter and Gigi arrive at the Bon Jour Cafe, and sees it resembles the Buenos Dias. Rex and Kristine visit Kim in jail and ask her to tell them where Stacy is at. Roxy assures Neela that all the rumors about Jack are indeed true. Noelle tells Shane that he's going to name her latest pie creation after Gigi. Starr asks Jack to be honest with Neela about what happened to Gigi. Viki asks Clint the reason he kissed her just now is cause of him being able to be with Kim. Kim tells Rex if he helps her get out of jail she'll tell what really happened in the basement that day. Noelle is startled after calling the Bon Jour and the person on the other end almost sounds like Gigi. Shane tells Neela that maybe she should go out with Jack after all. Roxy is upset when Fraternity Row has been abruptly cancelled.

While it’s not his worst Emmy reel submission ever, it’s certainly not the best work he aired last year. He should have submitted the next day when Roxy urged Clint to purchase FRATERNITY ROW or when Tina gave up the Lord fortune or the denouement of the Two Todds story… or Dorian’s last show… Or Erika Slezak’s 40th anniversary show… or hired me to pick his Emmy reel!

Finally, the question on everyone’s minds’ is: Why was Y&R snubbed so harshly? For the first time in forever, no Y&R lead actor or actress made the final ballot. Well, I’m surprised no one did the award show arithmetic. The Emmy pendulum finally swung back for the first time in a couple of decades: This past year, there were more ABC soaps than CBS sudsers (AMC, ONE LIFE, GH VS. Y&R and B&B). With GH on the bubble, alphabet voters more than likely threw their support to the embattled ABC soap. And let’s not forget that so many former ABC soap stars are currently employed on CBS, so it doesn’t take a Kardashian to figure out why the race shaped this way. Moreover, with so many ONE LIFErs on GH, Port Chuck had a bigger voting base than Y&R or B&B. Next year, CBS will once again have more soaps on its dial than ABC and NBC.

  COVER STORY

  RINNA-VATING LISA

How DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Lisa Rinna is creating an empire one sound bite at a time! PLUS: Her feud with Joe Mascolo; Contract Status; Hosting The Day Emmys, And More!

Rules were made so Lisa Rinna could break them. The DAYS OF OUR LIVES beauty, who recently returned to the soap as Billie Reed, is excited about expanding the sexual conversation in the mainstream with her new book, The Big Fun Sexy Sex Book (co-authored by Dr. Ian Kerner). With the phenomenal success of sexually infused novel, 50 Shades of Grey, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for the reality-TV star, author, PLAYBOY model to further the Lisa Rinna brand. So watch your back, Dr. Ruth! Rinna sat down with UNCENSORED to talk about she keeps her 49-year-old body in shape, how DANCING WITH THE STARS changed her life, why she recently filmed an adult diapers commercial, how she keeps her 15-year marriage to actor Harry Hamlin alive, and the greatest lesson she’s learned as a mother to their two daughters, Delilah Belle, 13, and Amelia Grey, 10.

Why did you write a sex book?

I wrote a book in 2008 called Rinnavation. It was about reinventing yourself at any age and living your best life ever. I had a sex chapter in the book that really resonated with people. I talked about how I lost my mojo after having our first child and the ways to get it back. I met a mutual friend, who is a sexual therapist, and he pitched writing a book together to talk more about sex because it’s still a taboo subject.

Why is sex still considered taboo in America?

[Sighs] I don’t know. I have no idea. Where you live in Canada, and Europe, it’s so different and so open. I know a German couple who discussed sex with their four-year-old child. Wow — that would never happen in the States. I’m a married woman — married for 15 years — so I feel comfortable talking about sex because our sex life is a big part of why Harry and I stay together.

Sex books are all the rage now with 50 Shades of Grey burning the zeitgeist.

The timing couldn’t have been better! We’re like the 50 Shades of Grey handbook.

Someone suggested James Scott should play the lead in 50 Shades of Grey!

He would be brilliant, actually. He really would be.

What was your husband and children’s reaction to the book?

Yeah, you know… the kids are 10 and 13 so they didn’t know too much about the book until recently when it came out. They kind of went, “Oh, that’s awkward.” We’re already talking a lot about sex with them, but the book has prompted more conversations, for sure. However, they are not ready to read this book because it’s a very adult book. But when they are ready, this book will be a great tool for them.

You’ve been very candid in the book and in press interviews about your sex life. Is there anything that is off limits?

I was respectful to our relationship. I only wrote or spoke about things that wouldn’t make him die of embarrassment! You respect your partner.

You should pitch a talk show about sex. You could reinvent Dr. Ruth!

I agree. And we’re doing just that. I would be happy to fill Dr. Ruth’s small shoes.

Should your DAYS OF OUR LIVES character Billie Reed read this book?

Yes! Billie would like it and think the book is fun! She would say, “Cool, I may learn a few more moves!”

Are you comfortable with being a sex symbol?

No, not at all. As women, our culture pays so much homage to the sex symbol so subconsciously you always dream of becoming a sex symbol because they are so applauded for it. I saw the value of being a sex symbol but I’m a tomboy at heart. I have embraced my sexuality in my older years. I’ve become a sexual being as I aged. I grew up learning sex was bad and you shouldn’t show off your body. It’s kind of ironic that I would write this sex book. I like to push the envelope. When someone tells me I can do something, I do it! I’ve been like that since I was kid.

Do you agree your sex life mirrors the emotional life of a relationship?

I do, actually, in many ways! Sometimes they are off kilter or out of sync. But you can always find ways to reconnect and make sure your emotional life parallels your sex life. That’s a big part of the book.

If you could talk to your younger self, what kind of sex advice would you give?

Oh, that sex is so good and it’s so important to a lasting relationship. Get out of your own way and lose your
