“Then reap your rewards, little slave.” He latched onto her boob, drawing it into his mouth as he drew whimpers from her.

Nex brushed her tummy lightly with his lips while his palm smoothed over her bare skin, at times gliding over her mound. Just from watching the amorous look in his eyes as he appreciated her body like a work of art made her feel somehow cherished and like a goddess.

Joaquin’s eyes appeared deeper now and more crazed with lust as the irises shimmered purple like fine wine in a crystal glass. Why were they purple? Was this an undead attribute she wasn’t aware of, or had they become purple in their steady transition from black to red? She hoped not. When a vampire had red eyes, it usually meant they were either feeding or enraged. He sure didn’t look angry, but she didn’t really want to be snacked on.

His cold tongue traced her lips, resembling the wet, frozen ice cube she’d sucked on a bit ago and had since eaten. Would he kiss her? Only Nex had kissed her thus far. Perhaps Joaquin didn’t kiss his subs, or maybe he had no desire to share such a tender intimacy with her in particular. Well, fine. She didn’t want to kiss him either.

Oh sweet hell, he was kissing her. His lips barely pecked hers and he grazed the plump flesh with his teeth. She parted her lips for him receptively, hoping she didn’t appear too eager. Her enthusiasm didn’t seem to bother him. His lips slanted over hers, the warm and cool contrast of their body temperatures merging into one where their mouths met in unity. The kiss was slow and sensual as he took the time to get to know her mouth, caressing her tongue with his and running it along her teeth and gums in exploration. She’d never been kissed so thoroughly before nor had someone dig their nails into her arm while indulging in a sweet kiss.

He seemed on edge even in the tender moment, like he was holding back with her and ready to pop at any minute. She could feel the rampant sexual energy coming from him but worried he also lusted for her blood at this point. The lethal combination seemed to drive him mad and the cold, chilling fear she felt thrilled her endlessly for some reason.

The kiss gained momentum and his teeth seemed just a wee bit sharper now. They didn’t pierce her, but her tongue prickled when they grazed it. He broke the kiss, pulling away breathlessly as his slowly descending fangs retreated and human teeth replaced them. The dark purple in his eyes had lightened to a plum color and they had flecks of burgundy in them.

“Suck Nex’s cock,” he ordered hoarsely as he quickly got up off the bed, hands shaking violently.

Claire was thrilled to do so but disappointed that Joaquin turned away from her. She wanted to bring him pleasure too, but he wouldn’t let her. She had slept with Nex and given Dakarai head, but she’d never brought Joaquin any sort of release. She was surprised he even let her kiss him.

Nex straddled her with an expectant smile and tapped his happy dick against her lips. She opened her mouth for him, taking in his tantalizing meat as he hovered over her and slowly eased in. Unlike Joaquin and Dakarai’s bodies, Nex’s felt hot like a carnal fire. Claire loved the contrasts of each.

She welcomed his sweltering appendage into her cool mouth, which had been made so from the melting ice cube a bit ago and Joaquin’s arctic-like mouth on her.

Nex let out a breathy groan. “By the gods, you have the sweetest mouth I’ve ever known.”

She would have thanked him, but his erection filled her mouth to the point of smothering any attempt at speech she might have made.

Dakarai pumped in and out of her pussy steadily and the butt plug in her rump seemed to make her vagina that much tighter around him. His elated noises said he reveled in this added tightness as much as she did.

Claire swirled her tongue all around Nex’s glans and shaft, spurred on by his heady sounds. She heard the shifting of ice in the bucket on the nightstand and glanced over to see Joaquin drinking from it. He set it down, seeming tense and shoved a couple of ice cubes in his mouth, sucking on them. His eyes went back to black and continued to lighten until they were their natural shade of gray. He seemed much calmer now.

Her breath was fresh, so she knew he wasn’t seeking to rid himself of her flavor, though she wondered why he seemed so eager to cool off immediately after kissing her. Perhaps the taste of her had pushed him too far and he was trying to come back before he ended up hurting her.

Her eyes glazed from the pleasure of knowing two men at once, or perhaps they watered from Nex’s cockhead flirting with her uvula. Her body felt possessed almost as they showered her with rapture and used her body for their own pleasure. Dakarai came first, bracing himself on her outspread thighs as he ejaculated.

Nex came about a minute later and she felt his seed splash down her throat. She drank his load, supposing it would please him. The essence was salty and almost scorching. She couldn’t remember a man’s semen being so hot before, but it didn’t burn her. Rather it heated her from the inside out as she accepted it into her body and licked his glans clean.

Dakarai pulled out and discarded the soiled condom. He left the room and she hoped the other two stayed and no one left her hanging here like this. He returned and handed a glass of water to Nex.

“Thank you, lad.” Nex drank from it.

  “It’s for her.”

“Oh.” He knelt beside Claire and gently lifted her head so she could drink from it.

  “Thank you.”

Dakarai wiped her genitals clean with a warm, damp washcloth, glancing after Joaquin, who left the room and never came back.

“Aren’t you going to take the toy out of me?”

Dakarai smiled wickedly at her when he got up. “The plug stays, peanut. You may remove it before you shower and then we will gradually work you up to larger ones.”

Her eyes widened as they unbound her limbs and helped her out of the sling. “Larger ones?”

He nodded, grabbing some cleaning supplies from a cupboard.

“I was going to take a shower. Can I remove it?”

“Of course, but after you’re out it’s going right back inside of you. Let me know when you are finished and I will lubricate you again.”

“I will do that,” Nex insisted.

  “As you wish.”

  Chapter Seven:

  Trouble

Nex watched in amusement as his little mate got all fired up when Dakarai told her he was a dreamscape vampire and had walked in her dreams. She chewed him out for trespassing into her mind and invading her privacy. She demanded to sleep alone in one of the private rooms, but Joaquin wouldn’t hear of it until she softened her tone and asked nicely, which she eventually did to avoid being punished for disrespect.

Nex told her she could sleep with him in the guestroom, but she insisted she would rather sleep alone. He said he understood, but it frustrated him. The women in his past practically fell into bed with him, but now the one woman who had been made for him would scarcely let him touch her despite her unmistakable yearnings for him to do so. Winning this dame wasn’t going to be easy, but he rose to the challenge, mildly annoyed at the way he missed Claire in her absence. He had never needed anyone before, but now he needed her so badly, and she kept pushing him away. He didn’t know rejection would feel so lonely.

In the olden days he would have thought nothing of sharing his bed with a new partner whenever it pleased him, but now he didn’t want anyone else, only her. It was like craving shortbread that up and walked away from him only to leave him with cabbage. The thought of shortbread with legs made him chuckle, but seriously, no female vegetable could compare to the sweet, melt-in-your-mouth Claire. He would chase her if he had to, though pinning her down and having his way with her probably wasn’t a good idea. Still, the image spiked his lust to insane levels. He knew being dominated aroused her, which made refraining from using coercion on her that much more difficult.

Her training progressed and she became more submissive, though there was no sex involved. Nex wondered how those undead eunuchs could stand seeing her naked sometimes without throwing her down and fucking her bra
ins out.

Brad Taylor trained him to be a bouncer and Nex enjoyed shoving the rowdy people out into the street. He wanted to slug them as well, but Brad assured him that kicking them out was sufficient and there was no need for violence. Rare was the occasion when anyone needed to be sent out of the club, though Nex secretly wished someone would start a brawl and dare to take a swing at him when he tried to intervene. Then he would have no choice but to punch the troublemakers.

Dakarai walked through the wall and sat in the private room, watching over Claire whenever she slept. She didn’t know this, but he wanted to protect her in her dreams and keep any hellions at bay. Nex always asked about her dreams, partly to make sure she was okay but also from sheer curiosity. Dakarai assured him she was fine and that Rochelle hadn’t appeared in any more of her dreams since he’d taken up guarding her in them.

Joaquin finally tired of Dakarai’s absence and, since she’d been fine for a while now, demanded that he come to bed with him and get some sleep.

Nex awoke in the wee hours one morning to check on Claire. Dakarai needed his rest and was sleeping upstairs with Joaquin, but Nex wanted to be sure she was all right. He pressed his ear to her door and heard a woman’s voice singing low and eerily from the other side. The voice wasn’t Claire’s.

“Took my soul, you went and killed me.

Gasp for air, old friend, breathe deeply.

Blood in your veins will soon be shed.

Your heart no longer pounding in my head.

So scream, old friend, shed your tears.

No one can hear you or calm your fears.

You turned a deaf ear to my plea.

Now with your last breath I shall be free.

Your agony will be my ecstasy.

I will delight in your cries of suffering.”

Nex quietly pushed the door open and walked in, freezing when he saw Claire sitting in a chair in a white nightgown with a bloody knife in her hand as she made slits in her arm. Her eyes were completely white and she looked possessed.

Her creepy chant continued while she cut herself.

“So scream, old friend, shed your tears.

No one can hear you or calm your fears.

Tremble greatly at the hour of your doom.

I will laugh when hell’s flames you consume.

Enjoy your season of revelry, for it will not prolong.

Night is coming and you will die all alone.

So scream, old friend, shed your tears.

No one can hear you or calm your fears.”

Nex’s blood turned cold at the haunting sight before him. Something was inside of Claire making her cut herself. He saw her raise the knife to her chest, preparing to plunge it into her heart. “Claire!”

He lunged for her and her white eyes became deadly as she shrieked and went at him with the knife for intervening. Despite her manic struggles, he overpowered her with relative ease and forced the knife from her hand.

“This isn’t over, hellcat,” she snarled.

He heard the knife hit the floor at the same moment her white eyes flashed back to their normal baby-blue, and he saw the shaken, bewildered look in her soulful eyes. His Claire was back.

“Nex, what are you doing here?” She winced and mewed when his grip eased up on her wrists and she saw the blood dribbling down her arms. The word “slut” had been carved into her arm and it dripped crimson with her blood. “Oh god, what happened?”

He swept her up into his arms and carried her out of the room. “You were cutting yourself. You looked possessed.”

She quaked in horror as he carried her out into the main area and set her in a chair.

“Joaquin! Dakarai!” He shouted their names frantically, tearing the hem of her nightgown into shreds and pressing the torn cloth into her wounds in an attempt to stop the bleeding. It soaked through far too quickly for comfort. At this rate she would end up completely in the buff if he had to use up her entire nightgown on her injury.

Joaquin and Dakarai hurried downstairs, looking groggy but concerned by his frantic hollering. Dakarai got there first. “Claire, what happened?”

Joaquin grumbled as he came over. “I hope you have a damned good excuse for—shit! What happened?”

“I’m all right. I heal really quickly,” Claire assured them.

  “She was cutting,” Nex explained.

“Why the hell were you cutting yourself?” Joaquin demanded.

She shrugged. “Bad habit from my teen years.”

Nex knew she was lying and it bugged the hell out of him that she seemed to be protecting whatever had done this to her. “That’s not what happened. I walked into her room to check on her and heard her singing a creepy song and cutting herself. Her eyes were completely white and possessed. She was about to stab herself in the chest when I stopped her.”

Joaquin looked pissed and worried. “What?”

“I’m fine now. Really,” Claire insisted.

His eyes became dangerous and black. “If you weren’t bleeding all over yourself, I would flog your hide good for lying to me. You were never a cutter. You’re being haunted by something.”

Dakarai turned her arm slightly for him to see the word engraved onto her arm. “Rochelle. It has to be.”

Joaquin stiffened and glanced back at Claire, who wouldn’t look at him. “No more bullshit. Who is Rochelle?”

  “It doesn’t matter.”

He jerked her chin up and made her look at him. “Damn it, stop fucking around! Who the fuck is Rochelle?”

“For heaven’s sake, Joaquin, stop yelling at her,” Dakarai said with a sigh. “Can’t you see she is bleeding and in distress?”

Joaquin’s nostrils flared and his pupils dilated before he closed his eyes, seemingly in torment from the scent of her blood and perhaps frustration over her obstinacy. He let go of her chin and stepped back to scold her with his eyes. “Fine, but you and I are going to sit down and have a serious talk when this is over.”

“That’s what you think,” Claire mumbled.

He turned back to give her a warning look that made her shiver. “Do not test me, Claire. You would not like the consequences.”

He left the room while Dakarai got some things to help Nex clean her wound.

“I never should have left you alone.” Dakarai shook his head while he cleaned her wound. “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s not your fault,” Nex reassured him. “We can all take turns watching her.”

“I don’t need to be coddled and guarded like a child. You guys need your sleep too. I’ll be fine,” Claire protested.

“It wasn’t a suggestion,” he snapped. “We will protect you with our lives if need be.”

“Hold still, peanut,” Dakarai told her.

She smiled weakly. “You’ve called me that before. Why?”

“Remember that night you dreamed of talking peanuts?”

She thought back. “Oh yeah, I remember. They made me a caramel macchiato.”

He nodded while he worked on her arm. “That was how I knew what type of coffee was your favorite. That and your conversation with peanuts amused me greatly, so I deemed it a fitting pet name for you.”

“That’s so sweet.” She grinned. “I don’t always dream weird things. Sometimes I have normal dreams.”

“I doubt that. You have a very creative imagination.”

“It was you in my hotel room that night, wasn’t it? You knocked over my lamp and woke me up.”

“I did. I wanted to wake you up from the nightmare you were having.”

There was a moment of silence before Claire spoke. “When you were in my dreams that other time, did you see…”

Dakarai gave her a mischievous smile, but it never reached his eyes. “You mean when you dreamed we danced naked together and then copulated? Yes, I saw that. I made it happen.”

She blushed, but her smile looked radiant. “Using me to get your jollies, eh? I see how it is.”

  “It is true tha
t I wanted you badly and I enjoyed myself immensely, but that is not why I slept with you in your dream. I did it so you could have peace after having seen Rochelle kill all of us,” Dakarai clarified.

Her lips parted and emotion moved through her pretty eyes. “You did that so I could have peace?”

He looked up at her seriously from his position on the floor next to her chair. “Why does that surprise you? I may not have a soul, but I know what love is.”

  She seemed moved and uncertain.

Nex knew Joaquin and Dakarai were lovers since Claire had told him they were. She’d accidentally walked in on them once while they were fucking. Nex was indifferent to the news when she told him, but he could tell the memory aroused her greatly.

Had Dakarai meant Joaquin or Claire when he said he knew what love was? Nex didn’t like the idea of Dakarai loving her. No one should care for her but him. Well, he supposed her parents could love her, but no one else. Friends could like her, as long as they didn’t start getting too friendly and try to take her away from him. She was his, and when this unconventional temporary captivity Joaquin had placed her under was over, they would go away together and start a new life somewhere like fate intended.

  * * * *

Claire did her best to avoid Joaquin after Dakarai and Nex patched her up. This was one time that she was thankful for her supernatural heritage, since it meant she would heal rather quickly.

Joaquin caught her alone, looking mad as hell. “I want answers, Claire.”

  “There’s nothing to tell.”

He let out a long, exasperated sigh, briefly averting his gaze. “I’m fed up with your games. If you don’t start talking I’m going to punish you…severely.”

She swallowed nervously, trying to feign courage as she turned to walk away from him. “You can’t make me talk if I don’t want to.”

Joaquin snarled and in a flash he had her slammed up against the wall. “You want to bet?”

His aggression startled her and oddly aroused her. If he got pissed enough she would probably cave. That couldn’t happen. “Not like this. Can’t we just discuss this calmly over a nice cup of tea?”
