  Jon Wilkman is a veteran documentary film writer, director, producer, and nonfiction author. His work has appeared on CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, HBO, and the History Channel and has been honored with national and international awards. His seven-hour series Moguls and Movie Stars: A History of Hollywood, which aired on Turner Classic Movies, was named one of the top ten television programs of the year by the New York Daily News and the Wall Street Journal and was nominated for three Emmy Awards, including best writing. Wilkman is also the author of Black Americans: From Colonial Days to the Present, and with his late wife, Nancy, Picturing Los Angeles and Los Angeles: A Pictorial Celebration. He is a former president of the International Documentary Association and an Emeritus Member of the Board of Directors of the Historical Society of Southern California. Currently at work on a documentary about the St. Francis Dam disaster, Wilkman lives in Los Angeles.
