The Billionaire's Baby 3: A Single Dad Romance

“We got it,” Lane groaned, exasperated.

“I think you should get Pittman to call the guy.”

“Jay, no. No one’s calling the guy, okay?” I held up my hand to emphatically put an end to the suggestion of having someone handle or off my ex-fiancé.

“Not yet, anyway,” Jay muttered, returning to his drink.

“I know you don’t want to hear this, but short of going with Pittman on this or paying her off, your best bet is going to be taking it to court,” Lane added.

I groaned, throwing my head back in the booth. I took a sip of my Scotch and winced as it burned all the way down. I sighed and shook my head as I put the glass back on the table. I did not want to go to court.

“I know it’s not the most preferable option, but it’s going to get the best results, short of hiring someone to make her disappear.” He held his hand up in Pittman’s face as he said the last part, preempting his response.

“I do want her to back off for good, and I would like to have something official stating that I have total custody of Kaylee, excluding Marie completely,” I said, thinking it over out loud with Lane.

“I’ll get you a meeting with my colleagues, man. They’ll handle everything and take care of it for you.”

“She mentioned she had a lawyer ready to go if need be.” I took another sip, finishing my drink and setting the empty glass down.

“You should have done something about this crazy bitch years ago,” Pittman remarked.

“Nobody’s killing her, okay? So let’s drop it.” I laughed after I said it, because, regardless of how I actually felt about it, it was an amusing thought.

“What are you thinking?” Lane asked.

“I don’t know, honestly. I’d like to handle it quickly. I don’t want it to be a situation that takes months to get settled, meanwhile Kaylee is staying with her unstable mom, you know? I want to have Kaylee back here when I know she’s okay. Plus, Hollie’s losing her shit over it, man. She’s all torn up.”

“You mean the nanny?” Lane laughed. “You’re nailing that shit, aren’t you? I knew it, man. That’s a good piece, brother.”

The other two nodded in agreement with him, raising their drinks to me in salute.

“Okay, yes, we’ve slept together. Can we move on now? I mean, damn it guys, the problem is way bigger than banging my nanny, okay?”

“Have you thought about using law enforcement against her?” Jay asked.

“How do you mean?” We all looked at him, confused.

“She got the cops involved by telling them she believed your daughter was kidnapped, right? So, why not return the favor? Work with police to turn it around on her. It could work faster than trying to go through the courts, and it would be cheaper than paying her off. Oh, and no one has to die.”

  He eyed Pittman.

“Maybe, but I worry that if I allow law enforcement to get more involved than they already are, Kaylee will end up with Child Protective Services, and I really don’t want that to happen, you know? Even though Marie is crazy, part of me has to believe she’s a better mom than the system would provide.”

Okay, so part of me was still trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, even though she’d done everything she could to lose that privilege. She hadn’t been the worst mom.

It wasn’t like she’d been abusive before she left. At her worst, she’d been distant with Kaylee. I supposed she could have done worse, much worse, than that.

“Fair enough, but it might be worth looking into,” Lane conceded.

“I’m all for anything that’s faster than going through the courts, and if you need any assistance, let me know.” Pittman winked over his cigar.

“If you’re not going to smoke that thing, take it out of your mouth,” Lane snapped. “You look foolish.” He groaned and rolled his eyes. Then, he turned back to me. “Have you been documenting everything?”

“I mean, how do I document face-to-face conversations without recording them?”

I had an app on my phone that could have recorded the conversation at the café, but I hadn’t used it. I didn’t even think about using it. That would have been a good conversation to have on tape.

“If you can’t record it, get witnesses,” Jay said, nodding.

Just then my phone started ringing in my pocket, but it wasn’t an incoming call. It was a text from Marie.

I fished it out, reaching into my pocket underneath the table to grab it. The ringtone was like an alarm going off; that way I wouldn’t miss any messages she sent me.

  “Where’s the fire, man?”

“I’ve got it. It’s from Marie.” I pulled up the text and read it aloud to the guys, “Call me when you get a chance. I’ve been thinking about what you said, and all I need is the money I gave you initially to help you launch your company.”

I looked up at the guys, and they all stared at me with their eyebrows raised.

“How much money was she asking for in the first place?” Pittman asked.

  “Ten million.”

He let out a deep belly laugh. “Oh man, that’s rich. Ten mil, and she expected to get it?”

“So how much is this now?” Lane asked.

“Fifty grand, if I remember correctly. It wasn’t much. Well, not by my current standards anyway. It was a lot of money back then, though” I said with a shrug.

“I still wouldn’t do it,” Jay interjected.

  “Hold up.”

I held up my hand. Another text came in, and this one was by far more damning than the first. I read it aloud as well.

“If you can do that for me, I’ll let you have Kaylee. It’s not like I really ever wanted her anyway.”

A hush fell over the guys. Her last statement hit all of us right in the chest. The guys didn’t even have girlfriends, much less wives and children, but they still felt it.

Each one was an uncle to Kaylee—Uncle Lane, Uncle Jay, and Uncle Pittman, who insisted on going by his last name, even with Kaylee. I sat back and stared at the table, not risking eye contact with the guys.

I couldn’t believe what I’d just read to them. That she could be so cold like that, so cold and heartless. I shook my head and reached for my glass, which was still empty from earlier. I didn’t even bother looking around the bar for our waitress.

“You okay, man?” Lane was the first to speak.

I took an abrupt breath, snapping out of my little trance, and looked at him. I couldn’t nod, or shake my head, or even say anything. I was too shocked.

I felt tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, right there in front of the guys. As horrible as she was sometimes, I hadn’t expected that from her.

“You know, we were just joking about Hollie, the nanny. We were cracking up about how I’ve been banging her. And, you know what, she’s been sleeping in my bed every night. We’ve been acting like a regular damn couple is what we’ve been doing, okay?”

“Hey, whoa, calm down there, Jude. Don’t blow a gasket, man.” Jay laughed.

“I’m not mad about the trash we talk, guys. I get it. Hell, I join in, right? But listen to my point. While I’m sitting here getting texts like this from Marie, Kaylee’s mother, Hollie is sitting back at the house falling apart, she’s started to really connect with Kaylee, and is worried that she is spending time with someone who doesn’t care about her. So, what the hell? How am I supposed to fix this? I’ve got one woman who can’t get rid of my daughter fast enough and another one falling apart because she’s gone. Not to mention my, my… baby.”

I dropped my phone onto the table and covered by eyes, my voice ending up just a whisper.

“Whoa, careful with that phone. You’ve got something to take to law enforcement now. She handed this to you, Jude. She just put the final nail in her own coffin with these last two messages.” Lane’s face lit up while he was talking. “Call them as soon as you get home and let them know you need to talk to whoever is working the case. Surely, they haven’t closed it yet af
ter she disappeared with the baby again.”

He was right. The texts she’d sent me were the answer. All I had to do was get them to the police, and they’d handle everything else for me.

I figured I’d give Charlotte Ellis from Child Protective Services a call in the morning to see if she would be interested in seeing what Marie had to say about our daughter.

I held my hand up to summon our waitress so she could top me off. The guys sort of cheered me on when she brought me a fresh glass. We clinked our drinks together and took a drink.

I was excited about sharing the news with Hollie when I got home, so I didn’t take my time with the second drink. I finished it off quickly and slammed the glass down on the table like we were taking shots.

“Guys, I’ve got to run. I need to go home and share the news with my nanny.” I winked and slid out of the booth, dropping a few dollars on the table for the drinks and a tip.

  “Good luck.”

“Yeah, hit it once for all of us.”

“Damn, Lane, that’s rough. Let me know if you need me to make that call, you know… to the guy.”

“Alright boys, I’m out of here. Enjoy your drinks.”

I felt bad for them as I left. I’d seen the looks on their faces when I read those harsh texts from Marie. They all felt for me, but not a single one could understand the joy I felt at the idea of getting my daughter back.

My only hope was that when I called Ellis in the morning, she didn’t decide we needed to go into a new investigation.

With all the drama surrounding Kaylee, it wouldn’t have surprised me if she decided to place my daughter in protective custody of some kind until everything was sorted out with Marie.

I didn’t want to deal with that, though it would have been better than some of the other options that were available to me.

I texted my driver from in front of the bar and waited for him to pull up. I hopped in and he drove me to the house, where Hollie sat on the couch in the living room watching a movie on Netflix. She had all the lights out and sat with a blanket pulled up around her.

When I walked in, it hit me that I’d left her sitting at home alone, without Kaylee, while I went out to get a few drinks with the guys.

I decided I needed to take her out, even if we had to find a babysitter once we got Kaylee back. We needed to start doing things together. I didn’t need to leave her sitting around like that anymore.

She turned around and looked at me as I walked into the living room. Her eyes were puffy and red from crying. The sadness in them soon had company—anger.

“While I’ve been sitting here crying my eyes out over you, your ex, and your daughter, you went out drinking with the guys?”

She paused whatever she was watching and threw the remote down on the couch. Shoving the blanket off, I got up to leave the room.

“Hollie, wait. I’ve got good news.”

  “This better be damn good.”

“Here.” I handed her my phone, with Marie’s texts open.

I listened while she read them quietly, barely whispering the words. When she read the last one, she stopped.

Silence filled the room, and then it was broken by a sob of anguish as she ran out of the room, dropping my phone on the floor as she did. I could hear her crying all the way up the stairs and to my room. Our room.

I hadn’t thought about how those words would have affected her. I got up from the couch and followed her upstairs.

I needed to explain to her that those messages were actually good news. She’d locked herself in my room, though, and I could hear her sobbing beyond the door.

I knocked, but she didn’t respond, leaving me out in the hallway wondering what I was going to do now.

She slips her fingers inside her panties and makes a few quick circles. My eyes drift closed. I can just imagine how wet it is in there.

My cock throbs between my legs, but I don’t dare reach down to tug my balls. Brynn doesn’t notice. He keeps his whole attention on her, but I can see his crotch bulging in his lap.

“That’s it, baby. That’s the way you make yourself feel good.”

She doesn’t respond. Her fingers circle faster over her pussy inside her panties.

“Do you want something inside you, baby? Do you want me cock, baby?”

Her lips form the words, Oh, yes, but no sound comes out of her mouth. She’s breathing too fast and short. In response to his suggestion, she moves her other hand closer. Her fingers dart inside, and she plunges two fingers into her steaming slit.

Faster than thought, she starts beating her fingers in and out of her box while her other hand circles her clit. Her cunt makes sucking noises around her fingers, and they squelch in her sweet juice when she bangs them against her tender flesh.

Faster and faster, she bangs herself. Faster she pants. Her wheezing breath rakes out in little squeaks, but she doesn’t slow down or stop. She works harder, both hands going at once, until her voice rises to short shrieks.

All of a sudden, she hurtles herself back on the couch. She tosses to and fro with every muscle strained to the limit. She screams out loud and falls into a panting sweaty heap.

The room wasn’t very full, so I led him up toward the middle, my favorite place to sit. It made the music better, and the screen seemed wide enough without being too big or too far away.

I walked about halfway down the row and sat, placing my popcorn in my lap and the water in the cup holder.

“I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about this one,” he said when he sat down next to me. “But, let me warn you, it’s supposed to be steamy.”

“I can do steamy.” Oh, God, I’m sitting
in a theater with my teacher, about to watch a steamy love story. I couldn’t believe it was happening, especially after our last meeting in his room.

“Good, because I know a lot of people feel awkward with explicit sex in movies. You know, when it’s not incidental. This isn’t supposed to be the kind of sex used to push the plot along. It’s real. It comprises major points in the plot, where the characters connect.”

I took a piece of popcorn and placed it against his lips, forcing him to stop playing the part of film critic and eat it. I giggled as his lips opened to take the food in, sliding against my finger.

I grabbed another piece and did the same thing again. He held a piece in front of me, but as I reached for it, he pulled it away, popping into his own mouth. I giggled and bit my lip.

It had to be a dream, I told myself. There was no way this was really happening, but as the lights lowered, I didn’t wake up in my bed—or his, for that matter, considering the way things were going.

We sat with our popcorn in our laps and our drinks in the cup holders on opposite sides. I reached over with my left hand and gently ran my fingers across his hand.

After being playful with each other, I figured it was worth a shot to see how far we could go, to see if he was ready for me to be more than his student at school. I wanted to know everything he had to teach me.

But he pulled his hand back and sighed. He wasn’t ready yet. I’d gone too far...
