Sure, he hid how he felt. But a sliver of his true feelings leaked out anyway. With just a hint of condescension, her professor, Mason Stratus, asked, "Julia, what can I do for you?"

"To be blunt, I'm here because I deserve a better grade."

Mason blinked, not entirely certain how to respond. Although he had been a professor at this college for a good five years, no student had approached him with this kind of bravado. Yes, plenty of his students insisted on complaining about their grades, only they usually went to the dean of his department.

Apparently Julia was going to be different. This shouldn't have surprised him.

Mason took a slow breath, deciding exactly what approach to use with Julia. While he collected his thoughts, he peered across his desk, feeling just a hint of attraction to his student. Granted, that was always an issue with male teachers, especially since he was the youngest professor among the faculty. He still had several years on the young woman in front of him, but there was something about this girl, something unique and insatiable.

Was it simply her appearance? At the moment, she had her blonde hair tied back into a severe bun. Could it be her facial features? Julia had smooth cheeks, pink lips, and a cute nose. But there was something about her eyes. So many of his college students seemed to glance around quickly, never quite seeing what was going on around them.

Not true with Julia. When she leveled his eyes upon him, he felt a shiver of…something. She seemed perceptive. She struck him as somehow uncanny.

Shaking off those thoughts, Mason reminded himself of how he was the instructor there. He was the professor, so he was in charge.

"Julia, I appreciate your concerns, but have you reviewed the rubric?"

"I did. I went over it very thoroughly, and I believe the grade I received was a mistake."

He took another breath. At moments like this, he could feel his blood pressure began to rise. After all, Julia was just eighteen or nineteen years old, a freshman in his English composition class. What did she know?

"Was there a particular point you'd like to make?”

"Actually, yes, there was," she said. She reached into her purse, and she pulled out her essay along with the course grading rubric. Then she pointed out some of his marks, and she told him why he had been wrong.

Impassive, Mason sat there, slowly clenching his arms over his chest. His body language became defensive, and Julia noticed this, but she didn't really care. She had worked with teachers like him before, arrogant boys who normally had answers to students didn't, so they automatically assumed that they were better.

Oh no, Julia intended to show him the truth.

She made her argument, and she made it well. If Mason hadn’t been the one to rade her paper, he definitely would have agreed with her. Only when she finished, he sat up, he put his palms on the flat of his desk, and then he said, "I appreciate your concerns. You make some interesting points, but my grades stands. Julia, what you are talking about is subjective."

"But I have proven—” she began.

Mason had no problem cutting her off. "No, you haven't proven anything. You came in here like a precocious little girl, and you've used a few of the terms from the rubric, which I’m sorry to say just isn't good enough. Unless you want to fail my class outright, I suggest you let this matter drop."

Her eyes narrowed, and Mason didn't know if he just made a mistake. Normally, he dreaded it when his female students started to cry in his office. That had happened once or twice, especially with the sorority girls who never did their homework and then didn't understand why they failed at the end of the semester.

  Julia should have been different.

She opened her mouth, running her tongue along her teeth. In that moment, she looked a lot more like a predator than a hapless freshman. She got up without a word, she took her essay, she took the rubric, and then she left his office, shutting the door behind her.

Mason didn't realize it yet, but he just made a very serious mistake.

Her boots clicked on the linoleum floor as she folded her paperwork and slid it back into her purse. From there, Julia went right back to her dorm room. She pulled out her laptop, and she started to access some of her favorite protocols.

As her fingers danced along the keyboard, she wondered if Professor Mason Stratus would have been more polite had he realized her major. Computer science. No, probably not. After all, the smug jackass likely assumed she would never be skilled enough to do anything. Certainly, a young woman like her couldn't have been an effective hacker, not yet.

But the thing was, Julia had spent a lot of time back in high school teaching herself everything she needed to know about various security protocols and exploits. She already knew more about cyber security than most of her professors.

She had never been quite this courageous, but there was something about the way, Mason talked down to her. The semester was almost at an end, so she used everything she knew, and she accessed the university computer system.

Frankly, they should have been ashamed. Their security measures were lackadaisical at best. Within an hour, she had access.

  At first, Jul
ia only intended to change her grade. She planned on printing up a grade report and using it in the event that Mason noticed the change. Then she would be able to go to his boss and complain; she would have no trouble making him look like an idiot. Besides, she would just be the innocent college girl, the one that didn't understand why her teacher had suddenly changed his mind.

A slow smile spread across her face because she decided to do something else as well. She took a look into his e-mail account and browser history. Mason may have known a lot about composition and essay structure, but he really had no idea how things worked in universe of computers.

Mason always had an office hour before class. Although there were only a couple of weeks left before the end of the semester, he didn't expect many of his students to show up, not yet. For one, he didn't have any appointments. Second, his students seldom showed up so early in the morning. They preferred to stay after class, if they were going to talk to their teacher all.

Oh, and the desperation didn't really kick in until the week of final exams.

Key in hand, he walked down the hall toward his office, and he was surprised to see the lithe physique of his most attractive student.

"Julia, what can I do for you?" Seeing her actually made him feel a little bit better. She was probably there to apologize for her rude behavior.

"I don't think you want to have this conversation out here."

Mason raised an eyebrow, and he considered chastising this girl for her tone of voice, but then he thought better of it at the last moment. He unlocked his door, and then he motioned for her to go inside.

His student sauntered into his office, and she leaned against the front of his desk.

  "Close the door," she commanded.

The professor raised an eyebrow, surprised at her attitude, but she obviously needed to say something, so he played along…for now.

"Good boy," Julia said once he closed the door. "Now, have a seat."

  "Julia—” he started to say.

His student cut him off. "I said sit.”

This girl was younger than him. She didn't have his education or position, yet there was something in her expression, her body language, and her tone of voice. He found himself dropping down into the seat in front of his desk.

Holding his knees together, he looked up at her. Now that he had made the mistake of sitting down, he wasn't about to stand again. That would only make him appear even weaker.

While he scrambled to collect his thoughts, Julia began, “Mason, we are going to have a little conversation about your behavior."

  "What are you talking about?"

"Shush," she ordered. He closed his mouth, surprising her with his easy obedience. If he could already be coerced into compliance, what did that mean when she revealed those secrets she had discovered on his computer?

"As I was saying," Julia continued, "I went back to my room last night, and I did a little bit of work on my computer."

"Did you revise your essay?" Mason asked, his heart beating a little bit more quickly when she leveled her gaze upon him. Again, he had to remind himself of how he had the upper hand in the situation. He was a university employee. He was taller than her. He was older and more experienced. This girl could not take charge.

"No, Mason, I did not revise my essay," she said, and a little shiver of nervousness sprang down his back when she used his first name.

Just a little bit too slowly, he opened his mouth to say something about how she should use his title instead.

Julia continued, heedless of the fact that her professor had been about to say something. "I went into your grades, and those were pretty boring. But I also decided to check out your e-mail account. Some of your messages were pretty fascinating, especially the ones to the campus bookstore. Oh, and you've been doing a lot of work on auction sites lately."

Tightening his lips, Mason peered at her, uncertain.

The color drained away from his cheeks. She knew…and yes, he had understood how he could be caught, only never expected it to be one of his students. She was just a freshman!

"What are you suggesting? If you need money, I can pay—”

Grinning at him, she popped her tongue against the top of her mouth, interrupting him. "Mason, I'm not interested in your money. Believe it or not, I already have a lot of that. No, I'm interested in something else. I'm interested in teaching you a lesson."

The nubile coed sauntered up to him, and then she poked his chest, touching his shirt. She maneuvered the tip of her finger around his buttons, going higher and higher. Then she touched his chin, holding his gaze.

He almost lost himself in the pure blue of her eyes. This girl didn't need to go to college. She easily could have just become a model. Reminding himself of who he was up against, he took a different approach. "What do you know, exactly?" This was his only chance. Maybe she had been bluffing.

An exasperated sigh left her lips. "Mason, I know all about the arrangement you have at the bookstore. You've been bribing some of the clerks to handoff textbooks to you. Then you’ve been selling them online. From what I've been able to see, you have embezzled a lot of money from your employer. Do you know what that means?"

"It means I could be fired." When he looked up at her, he tried to appear completely resolved, as though the consequence didn't really frighten him.

"It means you could be fired," she agreed, "and you could go to prison. Fraud is very serious in the state. And you know, the president university has been in some hot water lately. I'm sure he would enjoy a nice little scandal. Showing everyone just how tough he can be on corrupt professors would probably be a welcome distraction."

Mason opened his mouth, only to close it.

"That's what I thought," she said.

  "What do you want?"

Julia let go of his chin, and she started to saunter around his seat. She looked down at him, and Mason really did feel like a bug under the magnifying glass of some precocious girl. His breathing sped up along with his pulse, yet he did his best to simply stare straight ahead, almost like she didn't matter at all.

Unfortunately for him, Julia was very good at reading body language. She knew she how she made him skittish. In fact, she stayed quiet for a few seconds, just to let him simmer in his own helplessness.

  "I want you."

"What?" The question just sort of fell out of his mouth.

Julia stopped behind him, and then she put her hand on the back of his neck. This made him especially tense, except he couldn't explain why. "Mason, did you know I had a little crush on you at the beginning of the quarter? You seemed so smart, so charismatic and intelligent. It was incredible really. Of course, I only needed a few weeks to see that you really just want to be a petty tyrant.”

  "That's not true."

"Don't interrupt me. If you interrupt me, I'm going to have to start punishing you."

Punishing him? What the hell did that mean?

  "Look, Julia—”

"No. This is how things are going to work. You don't get to interrupt me, and when you try it again, I'm going to discipline you. From now on, you belong to me. Unless you want to lose your job and go to prison, you're going to do anything and everything I say." She flashed him and impish smile, one that would've been utterly adorable except it came from her newfound power over him.

Mason shut his mouth, and he couldn't speak. He sincerely didn't know what he could possibly say to that. This girl must've been insane. She couldn't really believe this would work.

She touched her finger to the underside of his chin, lifting his gaze and forcing him to look up at her.

Normally, Julia came off as small and diminutive. She was a beautiful girl, the kind of lithe nymph so many men craved. If they had been in a relationship, Mason knew he would have teased her mercilessly about being short.

But he was seated, and she was standing, so she towered over him.

"This is going to be a difficult transition for you. I understand that, but you are
mine now. Say it."

Mason couldn't comprehend how he came to be in the situation. She had been absolutely right, point for point, about his side business. It had been very lucrative, but considering how faculty compensation had been frozen for nearly ten years and he was at the bottom of the pay scale anyway, his little scheme had seemed a very good idea, until now.

"The longer you delay, the worse it's going to be for you."

He still didn't know what she was talking about, yet she kept her finger right there, under his jaw. No one had ever touched him like this, and some small part of and may have even enjoyed it.

"I understand,” Mason barely spoke those words.

Julia was not satisfied. "Again. Louder."

"I understand," he repeated, louder this time. The door was closed. No one would know about any of this. At the same time, he tried to console himself with the fact that he would be able to find some way to get this girl off of his back. This was not going to be a permanent arrangement, so he could tell her whatever she wished to hear.

Perhaps Julia sensed his reticence because she strolled around his chair again, brushing her fingers along his shoulders, the nape of his neck, and down along his biceps. "Say it again, and be specific."

Mason grimaced, remembering how many times he used those same words with his students. Be specific. A large part of composition was making sure the audience understood exactly what was intended. There couldn't be any confusion.

"I understand. I belong to you."

"You don't really believe that, do you?"

Silence. Mason wasn't about to taunt her into doing something he might regret.

"Such a silly boy. You know, when I first saw you, I thought you were going to be so smart. But really, you're just like the other guys on campus. Sure, you have an impressive degree, and you've learned to act like you're better than you really are, but you're just the same."

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
