The second they stepped into Gideon Enterprises, Eva informed them that Christian wished to speak to Hugo right away. He was in trouble.

CJ gave him a sympathetic look, “I’m gonna head down to the labs, let me know if you need witness testimony or anything.”

  “Thanks.”

“Remember, we were awesome. And we totally saved a dude. They can’t be mad at us.”

Hugo nodded in agreement as they parted ways, but he wasn’t so sure Gideon Enterprises would be pleased if he told them what had happened with Sam. He still didn’t know why the guy would have walked out in front of the bus, but he had a nasty feeling it was because someone didn’t want him to see the bus. He’d heard from Eva that Mr. Hansen could control sensory input, but only seemed to use it in his office as punishment when someone made a dangerous mistake. But why would he try to kill Sam? Shit he was in so much trouble.

Hugo hesitantly walked into the security office. Christian was, unfortunately, there, glancing at a bank of monitors.

He turned his chair to look at Hugo. He was irritated. “I hear you did an exit interview.”

Hugo swallowed, shoving his hands in his pockets. He looked at the ground. “Yeah.”

“Do you want to explain why?”

“Um well…” Hugo failed to not fidget, “I uh, saw Mr. Gideon firing the guy and I wanted to find out what for. So um…well, I couldn’t just walk up and ask him, and it didn’t look like he was going to really get an exit interview or anything, so I just…”

“Uh huh.” Christian did not sound amused. He turned back towards the monitors, “Mr. Hansen wants you to type up a report of the interview. Be thorough. You can use the laptop over there. And don’t do that again.”

“Alright,” Hugo said softly, shoulders hunched.

“Send the report to Mr. Hansen when you’re done.”
