Glancing at his watch, he rose from his chair. “Gotta go.” He took a step toward Dr. Keaton and offered his hand, which she gladly took. “Thanks for everything, Doc. You’re the best.”
At the door he turned. “By the way, I don’t smoke anymore. Just thought you’d like to know.” He went out whistling.
Dr. Keaton sat there for a moment with a satisfied expression, then got up and went to her desk. She pressed the intercom button. “I’m ready for my next appointment, Clarisse.”
