“Oh, spooky.” Wendy giggled, looking into the cave.

“Goes quite deep down too. Coming?”

“Oh right, so this is where you kill me and dump my body so no one ever finds me?” Amusement filled her voice.

Shaking his head, he scooped her up in his arms and let out an evil cackle. “I have you now, my pretty, and it’s over the edge you will go.” Then he leaned forward and placed his lips over hers. Their laughter quickly turned to panting, their groans echoing off the damp walls.

“Get a room.” Troy’s voice boomed through the cave.

The pair of them drew apart, Wendy more so with a scream of shock. They looked up to see Troy and Amy standing at the cave entrance just behind them.

“You made good time,” Pete said. Gently putting Wendy back on her feet, he walked toward his friend and shook his hand.

Wendy took off in a heartbeat, and the cave was filled with girlish squealing as the two friends hugged and jumped around like school girls.

“Hang on a minute,” Wendy said, suddenly stopping. “How and when did you get here?”

Pete couldn’t hold back a smile as a blush covered Amy’s speechless face.

“I asked them to pop over,” Pete said, taking Wendy by her waist and spinning her to look at him. “Added support for what I’m going to show you.”

  “Yeah, but—”

He placed a finger on her puffy, just-kissed lips, silently asking her to wait. She rolled her eyes and sighed, and he knew she’d agreed to his request. Placing a hand around her waist, Pete led the way to his mother and father’s den.

  Chapter 6

Wendy had so many questions going through her head. Why were Amy and Troy there? Did they get there before them? Why were they heading deeper into the cavern, and where was it going? Confusion was her best friend right now, and yet she followed Pete through the cave, with Amy and Troy following behind them. They finally came to a stop in an area that looked like three solid walls of stone. Before she could say anything Pete turned toward her.

“Close your eyes and trust me,” he said, although it came out as a near question.

She looked around warily. She turned toward Amy to get her read on things, but the woman just had a secret smile on her face. Amy nodded to Wendy, and she turned back to Pete. “If you kill me, you know I’ll come back and haunt you ’til your dying days.”

“I wouldn’t expect anything less.” He smiled and waited for her to close her eyes. When she did he again placed an arm around her waist and walked forward. Sheer terror stopped her in her tracks.

“We can’t go forward, numbnuts, it’s a fucking stone wall.”

“Trust me,” he whispered in her ear. “You said you believed in magic, so believe.”

Taking a deep breath, she took a step forward, trusting Pete and magic. If she broke her nose walking into that damn wall, she would break his, even if it meant breaking her knuckles in the process. She lifted her hands and walked precariously forward, waiting to hit a wall. After taking several more steps she couldn’t figure out why she hadn’t hit anything. Curiosity got the better of her. Opening her eyes slightly, she couldn’t help the gasp that left her, and her eyes flew all the way open.

There was no way something as beautiful as this should be hidden, let alone growing in a cave. In the center of the huge cavern was a hill of lush, green grass with a round, wooden gazebo seating area on the top. Streams of water ran around the bottom of the hill like a moat. There was a small, wooden bridge leading over the water to the hill. Looking around at the walls, she swore there were numerous diamonds embedded in it, and light from somewhere—she couldn’t see where—seemed to be glinting off them, leaving rainbow shimmers around the cave.

“No way,” she breathed out. “How the hell can trees and flowers grow in a cave with no sun? How does this exist? Are they really diamonds or is it glass?” She swiveled to see Pete looking at her, waiting to see her reaction.

“This is where my mother and father would come, their den. And yes, they are diamonds. It was my father’s special ability to find them. My mother’s was nature.”

She turned again to look around the wonder she’d just been led into. “You’re going to tell me magic is real, right? ’Cause there is no way in hell that something like this should exist in a cave. Is that your secret?” This shocked her to her very core...magic, did it really exist?

“I, umm, I have another secret.”

“Oh?” she asked. Turning back to the big man, she looked briefly at Troy and Amy, who had wary expressions on their faces. Why exactly were they there?

“This is why I asked them to come. Amy knows all about us, and I thought she could offer you a little hand in, umm, coping. But…” Pete took her face gently between his huge hands and tilted her head up so they were looking into each other’s eyes. “What you see next won’t hurt you. He is a part of me, my other soul. When I first saw you I had visions of taking you over and over. Dreams of being deep inside of you for years to come. When I caught hold of your scent I knew you belonged to me as much as I did to you. I didn’t lie when I said there won’t ever be anyone else but you. You are my heart, my soul, my other half until I die. But if what comes next frightens you to a point you hate me, then I will let you go and you will never see me again, but know that no matter what happens you will never need or want for anything ever again as everything I have is yours. I love you, my mate, forever and a day.”

Wendy wasn’t sure if her heart could take this. The man was professing his love for her and yet wanted to show her something that could frighten her away. This cavern was enough to show her that magic existed, but what else was to come?

“I don’t want anything from you, Pete. You think money is what I want? This?” She pointed to the diamonds embedded in the wall. “I know what love is, and it doesn’t involve material things. I watched my aunt and uncle love each other dearly, and even to the end they couldn’t live without each other. So show me what you have to show and let me decide if I want to run away screaming or not, okay?” She placed her hands on her hips and put a scowl on her face, letting him know just how much it had offended her that he’d offered to make sure she was looked after. She had money, and she could look after herself. She didn’t want anything from him…well, perhaps his love?

Pete leaned forward and kissed her sweetly. Eventually, his hands left her face and he stood in front of her. Amy came up beside Wendy and slid her arm around her shoulders.

“You know those lovey-dovey paranormal books you read that you think none of us know about?” Amy asked, causing Wendy to blush a little.

Amy nodded toward a bright light that seemed to flash out of nowhere just where Pete had been standing. In the next instant a humongous blue dragon with sparkling diamond-like eyes replaced him.

Wendy’s knees grew weak, but she locked them in place and managed to stay on her feet. Her first thought was to look around the beast, thinking Pete was standing behind it, then as everything came together she realized this was Pete—the other half of himself he had been talking about. A blue fucking dragon.

Shucking off Amy’s arm from her shoulder, she walked up to the beast and examined the hand-sized scales on its body. She walked to the back of the mythical creature, seeing the long, scaly tail wrapped around its hind leg. She couldn’t speak; words just didn’t seem to want to form properly in her mind. Lifting a hand, she placed her fingers on one of its scales. It felt warm and leathery, not solid or slimy like it looked. She moved back along its body, dragging her fingers across the numerous scales.

A rumble began to fill the air...purring? She shook her head, smiling in wonder.

“I’m walking around with my hands on a fucking blue dragon in a cavern dotted with diamonds with a grass hill inside of it.” She could hear the awe and shock in her voice as she spoke.

“Well, my friend, she seemed to take that a whole lot better than my mate,” Troy said, then Wendy heard a slap and chuckle, and she
knew Amy must have smacked him.

“Hey, it wasn’t the dragon bit, it was the I’m-carrying-your-baby bit that made me pass out,” Amy chastised her mate.

Coming to the front of the beast, Wendy saw Troy rubbing his arm as Amy looked up at him with a disapproving expression. Wendy smiled and shook her head again, and looked up at the dragon’s face.

“So you can understand me? You in there, numbnuts?” she asked, chuckling. She gathered he did because Troy had spoken to him normally.

The dragon puffed out a ring of smoke that surrounded her and dissipated gradually.

  She laughed. “Fire too, huh?”

The beast lifted its head and let out a small stream of fire toward the ceiling.

“Cool.” She nodded. “Just keep that away from me. I’m hot enough already.”

The dragon lowered its head, and its long tongue came out and licked up the side of her neck.

“Eww, hey.” She pushed against its head. “Pete’s tongue only, okay? You might be fascinating, Mr. Blue Dragon, but I’m only into humans.” She froze for a second. “You, umm, don’t expect me to…” She gulped.

Amy quickly sidled up to her. “No, don’t worry.” She giggled. “Pete only. The dragon lives inside him and can experience everything he does, it’s only when he’s out like this that he gets most of the control. Pete can still hear and understand you. He’s still there, just not in his human form. Troy’s dragon can be a bit mischievous, he likes to have his belly rubbed, and sometimes he follows me around like a little lost sheep ’til I rub it.” Amy threw a playful glance at Troy who rolled his eyes but had a smile on his face.

“How long have you known?” Wendy asked her friend. “And oh my God, you did have a quicker pregnancy, didn’t you?” Little things that had bothered her started to click into place.

Amy didn’t answer her questions straight away, because a green dragon—which Wendy assumed was Troy, since he seemed to have disappeared—joined the blue one, and they started play fighting with each other.

“Oh God. Men...they never change, do they?” Amy laughed.

Wendy and Amy walked over the small, wooden bridge and up the slight hill toward the gazebo and sat down. Amy answered Wendy’s numerous questions as they sat there watching two huge mythical beasts playing in the background.

Eventually the men joined the women in the gazebo, and they sat chatting for a while, but as time went on Wendy could see Amy was growing anxious. She knew Amy had left the baby with his grandparents, and she could see that being away from him for so long was getting to Amy.

Wendy had always wanted to experience the love a mother had for her child, as well as the love for a partner that ran so deep just being apart would make both of them eager to reunite as soon as possible. She had seen her aunt and uncle love each like that. She knew at times, especially when she was a teenager hating the world, they would get anxious about her, but at that age it never bothered her. Now that she was old enough to understand, it was too late to go back and tell them just how much of a positive influence they’d had on her.

“Go home, silly,” Wendy said, nudging her friend. “You came and gave this big lug the support he needed. I’m still here and not in some screaming fit because he turns into a dragon.” She rolled her eyes dramatically. “At least if he murders me, Troy will kick his arse, I actually think his dragon is a little bigger.”

She sucked her bottom lip into her mouth to try and hide the enjoyment she had pulling Pete’s leg. A growl filled the air beside her where he sat. Looking up into his beautiful blue eyes, she finally smiled. His hands found their way into her hair, and she was pulled forward to his body, his lips heating hers up in a steaming kiss.

Troy cleared his throat. “I think that’s our signal to leave,” he said, chuckling.

Pulling away from Pete, Wendy’s cheeks flushed with heat. She gave her friend a hug, promising to see her soon. Troy and Pete slapped each other on the back and said their goodbyes. Watching Amy and Troy leave the cave, Wendy got her answer as to how they’d gotten in. The cave walls shimmered as they walked through it. Magic...who knew?

“If a human walked up to the wall and touched it, they would feel solid stone. Amy can walk through it being she’s mated to Troy. Once, or if, you and I are mated you’ll be able to do that too,” Pete explained.

Amy had explained what mated meant, and Wendy knew deep down that’s what she wanted.

“You didn’t run screaming,” Pete’s deep, husky voice said in awe.

She turned toward him, asking in a sarcastic manner, “Aww, did you want to play kiss-chase?”

“Mmm, now there’s a thought,” he said, mirth and lust filling his eyes.

Her panties grew damp. Even with what she had witnessed with him as a dragon it didn’t bother her. Amy had explained enough while the boys had tussled together that she understood the majority of things. When Pete mated her—and she wanted him to—he would bite where her neck met her shoulder. Amy had told her it would give her one almighty orgasm, and she also went on to explain Troy often bit her in the same place.

Amy had explained that if Pete didn’t take the one who was his mate he would eventually go off, never to be seen again, and die of heartbreak. Wendy didn’t want that to happen to Pete. She was already falling in love with him. Something inside of Wendy told her this was what Pete meant earlier when he said if she was scared or hated him he would leave. He changed into a dragon for God’s sake...magic actually existed, and now she was party to it.

Pete had promised her that they would go on a long flight, and he would even take her to Amy’s beach house in a few days so they could have lunch with Amy and Troy and his parents, who were also dragon shifters. Watching Amy and Troy leave and seeing just how much they adored each other made Wendy aware of the big man. She knew he’d had a bulge in his pants since the time he’d picked her up, and with her thinking of his large, warm hands on her body, she was wet. He had shared his big secret, and she was fine with it; now it was time to see if he was fine with something else. Taking a step away from him, she turned.

“I’m still here, big boy. Now, didn’t you promise before we got here that you would be inside of me often? Well, I’m waiting.” She waved her fingers in a come-forth manner.

“Run, sugar,” he warned with hooded eyes and a face that said he was ready and wanted to play.

With a squeal of delight, she took off around the grass hill.

  Chapter 7

Pete couldn’t believe just how well his mate had taken the news that he was a dragon shifter. When she’d run her hands over his dragon’s scales it had purred in delight. His beast had fallen in love with her even more than before.

Told you she would love me more than you. His dragon purred deep inside of him.

Not on your nelly, dear friend. I am just about to get inside our mate and fuck her to heaven and back.

Yeah, but she had her hands on me before you, his dragon reminded him.

I’ll give you that one, friend.

Now all he had to do was get his mate’s hands on him. His cock was hard and ready to plunge into her pussy. Watching her pert, little arse jiggle in her jeans as she raced away playfully, he wanted to plunge his cock into that too. His heart thundered as his dragon sat up and told him to go get her. He didn’t think his parents would mind if he mated her fully in their den. Taking a deep breath, he inhaled the scents around him, zooming in on his mate’s arousal. With a smile on his face, love in his heart, and an erection that could stand on its own, he gave chase.

It didn’t take long before he caught her. He hauled her up against his chest, her legs locked around his waist, his hands firmly cupping her luscious backside as he carried her to another hidden chamber off the cave. The walls sparkled with various shapes and sizes of diamonds and multi-colored gems. A circular, king-size bed sat in the center of the wide cavern with white silk sheets draped over it. Coming to a halt, he dropped her onto the mattress, watching the shee
ts billow around her.

She looked around in surprise. “A bed? Wow, this magic stuff is pretty cool. What else can you do?” She grinned.

“Strip, mate, and tell me you want me for all times.”

A small, seductive smile drifted over her lips, and her tongue came out to lick the bottom one, leaving it glistening. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply a couple of times before making his clothes disappear from his body with a single thought. He opened his eyes to see Wendy staring at him in shock.

“Oh, now that’s not fair, but I like it,” she said.

She scrabbled out of her clothes then lay naked on the bed with her legs bent, showing just how aroused she was. Grasping hold of his erect cock, he slid his hand up and down it, reveling in the feeling. Wendy’s hands skimmed up her sides and across her skin. She cupped her breasts, gently squeezing her nipples, and a tiny groan escaped her mouth. His balls tightened at the sound.

With great restraint he urged his body to slow down a little before he unmanned himself like a teenager. Releasing his shaft, he knelt on the bed and crawled up Wendy’s body, painting her skin with his lips and tongue as he went. He couldn’t get enough of her taste.

He laved at her plump breasts still grasped in her hands. He gently smacked one of her hands out of the way and cupped and played with the pert nipple himself. He twisted his head to suck and pull the nipple firmly into his mouth. He played, flicked, and nibbled the tight little tip, then moved his head and did the same with her other nipple. Pulling back, he was satisfied to see both slightly swollen and deeper in color.
