The Boston Debutante (The Debutante Series Book 1)

Macy fell silent while the thoughts of what she had heard from the girls in college about domineering men they had gone with. She knew she wasn’t cut out to do something like that.
Macy knew one thing for certain. She wasn’t going to let a man dominate her, especially a cowboy with careless hands.
She wanted the finer things of life, not stuck on a ranch in the middle of hell with a man that thought he was some kind of king.
Macy had to go to the bathroom all of a sudden.
“Megan what do you do when you have to go to the bathroom out here?”
“Go tell Turk that you have to go. He’ll stop and wait on you.”
“You think he will? He acts like he would rather just ride off and leave me behind.”
“No go up there and tell him. If he won’t wait on you I will. I won’t let you be left out here alone.”
Macy rode up to Turk again and said, “Turk can we stop somewhere? I have to go.”
Turk looked at her like oh no here we go again. She is going to hold us up. He held up his hand and told everyone to stop for a pit stop.
“Where can I go to have a little privacy?” she ask.
“Go over behind that rock. No one will see you.”
Macy slid off her horse and walked over behind the rock.
In a few minutes Turk heard a loud scream behind the rock.
“Damn what has she done now?”
He jumped off his horse and ran around the rock.
Macy was standing there with her shorts half way up.
She had a hand over her mouth pointing at the rock while she was pulling on her shorts trying to get them up.
Turk looked at her standing there. Then he turned his attention to the rock and saw a rattlesnake coiled under it rattling away.
He pulled out his gun and pointed it at the snake.
He took aim and fired blowing the head off the snake.
When he turned around she had managed to get her shorts up and was wrestling with the zipper.
Her face was red from letting him seeing her with her shorts partly down and her eyes were wide from being scared by the snake.
Her panties had become hung in the zipper of her shorts. She was tugging with the zipper trying to get it free.
He looked at her and ask, “Macy may I help you or will you feel like I am trying to get fresh with you again?”
She wrestled with the zipper for a second more then she said, “Ok you can try. I can’t get it loose.”
He knelt down in front of her and sat his hat on the ground. As he worked with the zipper she looked down at him. His broad shoulders were massive looking from where she looked.
His hair was so soft looking and had a slight wave to it.
His fingers were working with the zipper carefully to be sure that he didn’t touch her anywhere he shouldn’t.
The back of his hand rested on her bare inner thigh making it difficult for him to concentrate on the task at hand.
As Macy looked down at him she saw he was a big man with strong hands and arms. She knew if he didn’t finish with the zipper pretty soon she was going to panic with him having his hands so close to her.
Macy was so afraid he would touch her just to get a cheap thrill or throw her down and beat her into the ground for hitting him.
She already knew she wasn’t going to be able to slap him again. He was way too big. She wouldn’t stand a chance.
Finally he got the zipper down and without thinking he stuffed her panties inside.
Megan walked around the rock about that time and saw his hand poking in the open zipper. She hollered, “What the hell are you doing Turk?”
“Nothing Megan, mind your own business.”
“Turk, get your hand out of her pants.”
She could see the fear and panic in Macy’s eyes.
“Megan I am just trying to fix her zipper. It was stuck.”
When his fingers touched her again he felt her twitch.
“Sorry Macy I didn’t mean to do that.”
“That’s ok. I know you weren’t trying to do that on purpose. I am just touchy.”
He took her by the hand and led her to her horse with Megan following behind with a grin on her face.
She was still shaking like a leaf from the sight of the snake so close and Turk could feel it in her hand.
Turk helped her put her foot in the stirrup and he placed his hand on her butt and boosted her up. This time she didn’t slap him.
He had made sure his hand was on the material of the shorts.
He looked up at her and said, “Macy please be careful. I should have warned you to look around before you walk. There are a lot of those snakes around here.”
She sat up tall in the saddle and smiled at him.
“Thank you for fixing my zipper. I will have to be more careful in the future.”
His heart melted right then looking in her eyes. Her eyes got a twinkle to them when she smiled. He fumbled to mount his own horse. She was being nice to him for once. It was really the first time her smile looked more sincere then the smirk she had given him several times.
Megan rode up to Macy and asked, “What just happened?”
“Oh nothing, Turk just had to help me get my panties out of my zipper.”
“Oh my God, he won’t be worth a damn the rest of the trip. I bet you got him all shook up.
That’s why I don’t wear anything under my shorts. I hate it when the zipper gets hung on my panties like that.”
“Megan I wasn’t trying to get him shook up. I just couldn’t get my underwear out of my zipper.”
Macy looked ahead toward Turk. He was riding along looking off in the distance.
If only Macy knew what was on his mind. He was thinking about what he did just like Megan had said. Megan knew Turk like a book.
He was broken out of his trance when Macy rode up beside him again.
“Turk how much did you see back there?”
He stuttered as he answered. “I didn’t see anything.
I was too busy trying to see what you were screaming about. Besides I was gentlemanly enough to turn away from you.”
“Thank you Turk. I was so embarrassed letting you see me like that but that snake scared the s…t out of me. All I was thinking about was that snake. I wasn’t thinking about my pants still being half way down to my knees. I was squatting right in front of that snake. He could have bitten me right on the behind.”
Turk grinned and replied, “Don’t worry I would have sucked the poison out.”
“In your dreams big boy, you are not going to put your lips on my behind not even to kiss it.”
“I bet you would have let me because if I didn’t you would die.”
“Well it didn’t happen so we don’t have to worry about it do we.”
“Macy just for your information, all of us has snake bite kits complete with suction bottles so no one would have to suck poison out with their mouth. That is dangerous anyway.”
Turk just grinned and Macy faded back to Megan.
“I think he saw more than he let on. He just had that look on his face. You know what he said to me?”
“What?”
“He said if I would have gotten bit on the butt by that snake he would have sucked the poison out.”
“And what was your reply?”
“In your dreams big boy, you’re not putting your lips on my behind even to kiss it.”
Megan cracked up.
They rode on without any more trouble till they reached the shack about noontime.
CHAPTER V
A STORM IS BREWING
Turk got off his horse and went over to Macy. He offered his hand to help her down. Macy took his hand and threw her leg over the horse. He grabbed her around the waist. Turk let her slide down his chest again like the first time he had helped her off her horse.
When she reached the ground she looked up into his eyes as she felt the feeling again she had the first time he held her l
ike that. She could feel her face turning red again. She had never been that tight against a man and it felt good to her. Surly he could tell that she was having those feelings.
He smiled and released her. He was having his own feelings.
“Macy, get Megan to put some first aid cream on your lip. It still looks a little puffy. I’m sorry you hurt yourself.”
“Thank you Turk, I’ll get her to look at it.”
She walked over to Megan still feeling warm all over.
“Megan, do you have a little cream I can put on my lip?”
She got the first aid cream out of her saddlebag and handed it to Macy.
“Way to go girl. A few more of those and he is going to be all goofy over you. You are getting that man’s attention.”
“What are you talking about Megan?”
“The way you slid down the front of Turk. I could see his look of pleasure all the way over here. Didn’t you know you were doing that to him? I swear I could see his eyes roll back in his head.”
“I wasn’t trying to do anything. I was just getting off the horse. I don’t want any man all goofy over me. I wish he wouldn’t do that to me when he helps me off my horse.”
Megan laughed.
They went inside and put their saddlebags in the makeshift room that Turk made out of some sheets. Turk had closed off one corner with sheets so Megan could have some privacy when she came along. She stuck an extra cot in there for Macy.
There was a wood burning stove setting in one end of the one room shack and a table and chairs in the center of the room. All the way around the walls was lined with cots for the men.
There were windows that shutters covered when no one was there but there was no glass in them. The open windows allowed a breeze to blow through the shack when the wind was blowing keeping it a little cooler in the summer.
A picture pump was just outside the door for drinking water.
Out the back door was an outhouse. They only used it in the daytime. At night they all kept cans under their bunks.
The beds were all army surplus cots Turk had bought at an auction.
Once every one got settled in Buck started fixing lunch. He usually did all the cooking out on the range.
He threw some steaks and potatoes on the stove and started making a big pot of coffee. The smell of steak sizzling soon filled the room.
Megan and Macy felt their stomach start to growl with the anticipation of sinking their teeth into some delicious steak.
The wood-burning stove soon heated up the cabin running everyone outside to cool off. The afternoon sun was beating down on the cabin adding to the heat.
Turk went around and opened all the windows and doors to let some of the heat out.
Megan and Macy went out and sat under a tree next to the shack where a cool breeze could blow on them.
Megan ask Macy, “Macy what do you think of Turk now that you two are on speaking terms?”
“Well I think he is a big good looking guy for sure but he is self-centered and demanding. He is also arrogant and obnoxious at times but deep down I think he might be pretty good man. Those deep steel blue eyes seem to look right through me and that makes me uncomfortable.”
Megan laughed, “In other words you kind of like him a little better now?”
“Only if he quits being hateful to me. I think I like him well enough as a cousin or at least a relative. Why do you want me to like him so much?”
“I just think things will go better if you two get along. I know it would make Mom happy.”
“If you are thinking anything romantic you can forget it. Turk is not my kind of man. I want a man that has a future not a cowboy that smells like a horse most of the time.”
“Macy Turk has a good future ahead of him and once you get used to smelling horses on men it kind of becomes an aphrodisiac.”
After everyone had finished their lunch they lay around and rested while they talked the rest of the afternoon.
Turk spent all afternoon with Megan and Macy. He wanted to be as close to Macy and Megan as he could without drawing too much attention from the other men. The more he looked at Macy the more he liked her and wanted to be near her. She felt so good and so soft when he held her against him.
As long as Megan was there with them he just looked like he was talking to his sister.
He noticed that Macy’s legs were a little red from being in the sun all day long in shorts.
He mentioned it to her and said, “Tomorrow you had better wear long pants or you are going to get burned.”
Macy lifted one leg at a time up and looked at it, “Yes I did get a little red today. I should have brought some sun block with me.”
He looked at her legs again and said, “I wouldn’t want anything to happen to those legs. You have the prettiest legs I think I have ever seen.”
Macy felt a twang of embarrassment in her face. She had no idea of where that came from or why she reacted like she did but men had looked at her legs before. The only difference was they kept their comments to themselves. Turk didn’t do that. He said what he thought.
Megan grinned at Turk and then watched for Macy’s reaction. She could see a little tint come to her cheeks.
“Ok Turk, don’t start that kind of talk. I don’t know what it is about you but you are to forward and aggressive. I’m not use to that kind of talk and it makes me feel uncomfortable.”
“But Macy you are so beautiful I can’t keep my eyes off you. I just want to take you in my arms, hug squeeze and never let you go.
Megan looked at Macy. She could see that Turk was starting to make her feel real uncomfortable. That tent in her cheeks had turned bright red.
“Turk that’s enough of that talk. Macy knows how beautiful she is without you describing it in detail. She doesn’t even know you. Now behave or I will make you.”
Turk looked at Macy and said, “I’m sorry Macy I just get carried away sometime. I’m a very passionate person when it comes to a beautiful woman.”
Macy looked at Megan and replied, “I’m not beautiful. I think I am just an average looking girl. I don’t know why men are always trying to hit on me. In college they were always asking me out but I knew what that was for, they were after a cheap thrill.
I saw it so many times when boys ask girls out and as soon as they got what they wanted they never called the girl back again. Well that’s not going to happen to me. I was raised better than that.”
Turk sat there listening to every word out of her mouth. At least he felt he had told Macy how he felt about her. She would have plenty time to really get to know him.
His whole attitude was starting to change some toward Macy. He was starting to see that she was not the evil witch he first thought she was.
Megan asked her about wanting to teach school.
“I just love kids and I thought the best way I could be around them and maybe teach them something at the same time was to be a teacher.”
“You mean you like kids?”
“I love kids. I hope when I get married I have a whole house full.”
“Macy, you know to have kids you have to have man?”
“I have one back in Boston. As soon as he gets his Law Practice going we are going to get married.”
“Oh you are engaged then?”
“Yes we are not officially engaged yet. He wants to marry me but he wants to wait till he gets everything going.”
Megan looked at Turk. To her surprise he looked a little disappointed.
Every minute Turk was with Macy was making his heart grow fonder of her. His eyes searched her every minute she wasn’t watching. He looked at her hair, pulled back in a ponytail and partially covered by the Stetson he had picked up for her. She had on small diamond earrings.
He wanted to reach over and release her hair and let it float down her shoulders as he laid his hands in the softness. He looked at her face with her makeup on. Surprisingly she had to wear very little makeup. Her face was one that had a
natural glow that didn’t require a lot of makeup to make her beautiful.
She was one of those women who could go without a bra and still look as if she had one on. Her fingernails were freshly manicured and painted with clear polish.
On one finger she had a large birthstone ring and on the other finger was a diamond that was big enough to choke a horse. That had to be her engagement ring Turk thought to himself.
She wore a tennis bracelet lined with diamonds on her right wrist and a small watch on her left wrist. Turk was letting his work slip. He wanted to set there and look at Macy the rest of the day.
This wasn’t like Buck at all. When he was out on the range working he usually didn’t let anything interfere with what he had to do but somehow Macy was interfering.
Buck called everyone in to eat.
As they sat at the table Macy ended up setting beside Turk. As they ate Macy’s leg gently rested against Turks. Macy didn’t notice are she would have moved it.
Turk thought he was going to choke several times as he looked down but perseverance prevailed as he tried to put his situation out of his mind.
He was falling for Macy fast for some reason. He was supposed to hate her but there was something about her perfume and the innocent look in her eyes that kept drawing him to her. It was like a large wave hitting him and carrying him along.
He knew in the back of his mind that she would probably shun any attempt by him to make any headway with her because of her engagement.
He couldn’t quite describe the feelings he was having.
When suppertime was over everyone cleared the table for their card game. As the men sat down they sat their whisky bottles on the table with shot glasses.
Macy started worrying about the cowboys getting drunk and doing no telling what. Suddenly she didn’t feel as safe. She had never been around a bunch of drunken men but she had heard some horror stories that had happened to people.
Megan and Macy sat in chairs behind Turk as they started playing. Macy figured that would be the safest place if they did get drunk as long as Turk didn’t get drunk to.
Megan and Macy talked to each other in soft voices in order to keep from disturbing the men.
