“I want to taste other parts of you.” I smiled at him.

  “No, me first.”

I grabbed the hem of his shirt and quickly pulled it over his head, exposing his strong chest and abs. I forcefully pushed him down on the bed and leaned over him seductively. I kissed down his neck as he leaned his head back and moved down his chest. When my mouth reached his hips, I heard him intake a sharp breath. I looked up at him and smiled. I then looked back down and slowly started to tease the tip of his head with my tongue. His hands moved to tangle up in my hair and from the tension in his arms, I could tell he was restraining himself from pushing my head down. I let my tongue glide down slowly as I took him fully into my mouth. He leaned his head back with a moan of pleasure as I moved down the shaft and sucked the sides. I explored his cock with my tongue, learning the curves and ridges, imagining how it was going to feel inside me. Xavier regained some focus and ran his hands roughly through my hair.

As I started to glide my mouth a little faster, Xavier let out a slight moan.

“I can think of a much better way to do this. Turn around.”

Xavier pulled me up and turned my body around so that my core was right over his mouth. I glided my mouth back down on him and stifled a moan as I felt his tongue flick across my clit. Pressure inside of me began to build as I continued to suck on him. Xavier moved his right hand, and I let out a load moan when I felt his fingers enter me. Knowing that I was close to teetering over the edge, I started to move my mouth faster. I could feel his moans resonate through my body as I took his cock deep into my mouth. As his fingers and his tongue started to move faster, my whole body started to shake as I fell over the edge.

“Oh God, Xavier!” I cried out.

“I need to see you come.”

Xavier pushed my body up a bit and then turned me around to face him. His gray eyes met mine briefly as I pushed my thong aside and guided his hard cock inside of me. He filled me slowly. His hands gripped my hips and started to control my movement. God, it was fucking hot when he took control like that. I shifted my body back into his hands, allowing him to move my hips easier. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes.

Xavier moved my hips faster and I felt the pressure begin to build again inside me. I lifted my head back up to look at him and his gray eyes captivated my own. Everything around us disappeared and it was only Xavier and I. Our families and our duties no longer mattered. All that mattered was how amazing Xavier made me feel.

Xavier moved my hips faster as he pushed his hips up so he went deeper inside me. I reached behind me and unclasped my bra and pulled it off my arms.

Xavier grabbed onto my hips and quickly flipped me over so that I was lying on my back. He leaned down and captured my hard nipple in his mouth, biting it ever so slightly. He gave my nipple a slight tug with his teeth and leaned his body up so he was kneeling between my legs. He grabbed my right leg and pulled it up over his shoulder, and he pumped his hips forward. I arched my back in response.

“Oh yes, Xavier, don’t stop!” I cried out.

His hips started to move faster. He grabbed my hand and moved it down to my clit to start rubbing as he pounded into me. Goosebumps spread across my body. Xavier pushed me to my breaking point. I moved my fingers faster over myself and let out a loud cry.

  “Oh yes! Xavier!”

Xavier looked down at me. “That’s it, Farrah. Come for me.”

My whole body started to shake and I felt Xavier’s body tense. He released inside me, which only made me orgasm harder. He let out a low moan and collapsed on top of me.

I spent two days in bed with Farrah. There was nothing else I wanted to do than lick her dry. But it was Friday, and I had a job to do. Dante had been blowing up my phone all morning, wanting to know the details. But I didn't give details. Details gave you something to tell the feds. No one knew the intimate details of my killings. Just me.

But as I looked at Farrah slumbering softly next to me, I wondered if I needed to tell her.

Her father was a bastard. As far as I was concerned, he was a deadbeat, and he left her and her mother for something better. What could be better than Farrah, I had no fucking idea. When her father had threatened to take Maria and Farrah away from us, Pops allowed me to take the job. It was my formal initiation into the family. Ten years ago, I made it happen. I shot that bastard point blank in the face.

When the feds found him almost five years later, he was so deteriorated we never thought they'd catch me. But they did. Someone had ratted me out, I was sure of it. Someone who knew the details.

But they didn’t have enough to keep me. It was why my lawyer had won. With enough appeals, I was a free man.

Since then, I made sure not to tell anyone else what my business was. Pops knew about this one, and that was it. We hadn’t told Dante why the warehouse needed to be cleared. Just that it had to be done.

Dante made me nervous because he had questions. Too many questions sometimes. But it wasn't that I didn't trust him. I just thought that in my absence, his position in the chain of command was a little bit higher than I wanted it to be. But that wasn't all his fault. It was the stupid fucking justice system that put me away, not him. Dante was bound by duty. Just doing his job.

I brushed a single strand of hair out of Farrah’s face. Her porcelain skin was so touchable. I dragged my finger down along her shoulder and she stirred slightly. I laid a kiss on her bare skin at the nape of her neck and got out of bed. There was work to do.

I got dressed and left her another note. I let her know that I wouldn't be back until Saturday, and to just relax around the apartment for the day. I let her know it was work-related. It killed me that I was already breaking my first promise to the woman I was falling in love with.

I arrived at the office to see my father sitting at his desk with two bodyguards flanking him. It seemed a little odd that he needed two, so I called him out on it.

  “Two thugs, Pops? Really?”

He waved them off and raised a brow at me. “Sit. We need to talk.”

He stood up with his fist on the desk. His semi-bald head gleamed under a luminescent lamp. “We need the room, gentlemen.”

A couple men had been playing poker at one of the tables. They stood up, puffing their cigars, and walked up the stairs with the bodyguards. Within minutes, we were completely alone. No one disobeyed my father.

“What's going on, Pops? You seem tense.”

“Do I? Because you seem awfully relaxed.”

I straightened up in my seat. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

He sighed and shook his head. “I received a call from some of our friends on the coast.”

“Jersey? What the hell do they want?”

“They say that some things are going on at the Salvatore family. They've got movement. Tightening up at the stronghold. Bringing family members in.”

“Like for an attack? Nobody has a shootout in this day and age, Pops. That’s old shit, from your time.”

He shook his head at me. “It's always my time.”

I sighed. “I know, I know. But really. No one wants to go to jail these days. Nobody wants to do what I just did. What do you think they want, anyway? What do you think they're going after?”

  “You.”

  “What?”

“I have it on good authority that there's a rumor going around that you killed Maria's husband. And as a result, her husband's brother came and killed her and those two men. Now the Salvatores are after the person who started that mess, and that, my son, is you.”

“You're kidding. Ramsey hasn't done shit in a decade. Why now?”

“People say they figured it out years ago, but they couldn't touch you on the inside. Not enough of their own people were at your facility. Your mother and I worked hard to keep you in protective custody there. We paid a lot of guards a lot of money to keep you safe, kid, and you're out for three days and this? Who have you
even been talking to?”

I shook my head. “Talking to? Nobody! The lawyers said nobody would know that I was out. My name wasn't in the papers or anything. I have no idea how they would know.”

I sucked in a breath. There was only one way that they knew.

Farrah. She was the only one outside of the family that knew I was out.

Her mother had been part of a rival mob. She walked away from them years before she had Farrah, though. No one in our family ever knew what had split them up, but when she came to us and needed a job, we gave her the benefit of the doubt. She understood the obligations that the family could put on you, she grasped all the risks. And she was great with money. She knew how to cook the books like no one else that we ever worked with. I'd always guessed that that was what she had done for the Salvatores as well. But I didn't even think that Farrah knew that her mother was from another mob family. She never mentioned it when we were kids. Her mother hardly talked about it. And when she did, it was only in the confidence of my father.

“Why did Maria leave the Salvatores? What did she know?”

Pops put his hands up. “You don't betray the dead.”

I leaned forward. “If you don't want me to join her, tell me.”

He shook his head, but he made the cross symbol across his body and kissed his hand up to the sky before he spoke. “Maria left to be with her husband. Ramsey hated that asshole, something we had in common, but she abandoned the family. It's that simple. You can never leave. So they disowned her. But that doesn't mean that Ramsey wasn't broken up about her death. He talks a big talk, that man, but at the end of the day, Maria was still family. And he was in a bad way when she died. We set off that domino effect, and because of that, they want you gone.”

I shook my head at him, “No we didn't! Maria made it clear. That bastard needed to die. So what if I pulled the trigger? Shouldn't Ramsey be happy that she was free of him for years? Or that she would've been…”

“Apparently not. You know her husband’s friend, her killer, is still in the slammer? Maybe if we took him out… maybe that would appease Ramsey and stop this blood feud.”

“How the hell are we going to do that? We have to find him first, and then see if any of our guys on the inside have access to him. Has anybody been sent away that I don't know about?”

He looked pensive. “Not recently. I'll make some calls. In the meantime, you handle this job and then you stay quiet for a while. Spend some time with your mother, she misses you. She hasn't seen you since we had dinner the other night. What the hell is the matter with you?”

Since that night, my face had been buried between Farrah’s legs, but I wasn't about to tell him that. Not when I thought she might be a snitch. My heart fell down to my stomach. Shit, I really hoped she wasn’t the reason all this had started. I had some serious shit to figure out. I cracked my knuckles. “You know, I'm really looking forward to kicking the shit out of this kid tonight. I need to let off some steam.”

My father crookedly smiled at me. “That's my boy! Now go, go see your mama and then handle your shit. I’ve got work to do. Phone calls to make, see who’s upstate.”

I nodded and stood. He extended his hand for me to shake, and I grasped it with both of my own. “You want me to call you when it's done?”

He waved me off. “You’re always good for your work. I never worry about you. You're one of the few I can trust to get a job done.”

I nodded at him and inhaled deeply as I walked away. My father trusted me. He trusted me while I was sleeping with the enemy. With the girl who might want to kill me. Like hell if I was going to let that happen, though.

The Salvatores could take whatever they wanted, but Farrah was mine. Then there was no way I was letting go.

“I want to set up a meet.”

I heard the other voice on the end of the line take in a deep sigh. “When? The boss is busy.”

I rolled my eyes. “The boss.” Like hell. Just some little shit taking other people's business. He wasn’t anybody's boss, but I did feel sorry for all the thugs that thought he was. I wondered how quickly they would crumble and fall without their fearless leader. “I don't care how busy he is. I heard he has some products that I'm interested in.”

  “Product? Who sent you?”

I’d done my homework and was prepared for this. “I talked to the Mexicans, who else? They mentioned you had been helping them out. Maybe starting a line of credit? Is that true?”

“I'll set up the meet for you. Where, and when?”

“Tonight. Warehouses out east. Bring only one other man. I’ll only have one security guy with me as well. I don't need this to turn into some big meeting. You know how it goes, the more people that are involved, the more problems that could start.”

  “Fine. Eight PM?”

  “See you tonight.”

I slipped the cell phone back in my pocket and looked at Dante standing across from me in the back of the strip club. It was only one o'clock in the afternoon, but of course, it was dark in here, no windows. I couldn't make out his face. But I could tell by his boulder-like body that it was him. My father had sent him up to listen in on me, I was sure of it.

“I guess you're coming with me then.”

He emerged out of the shadows, his arms crossed over his thick chest. “Damn straight I am. What's this all about, anyway?”

I shook my head. “Gotta do a job for the family. Shouldn't you be over at the casino?”

He laughed at me. “I only have to go to the casino when I'm told to go. Your father hasn’t loaned out any money recently, so I don't have any clients.”

That was Dante's single job, being the muscle for gambling debts at the casinos. “So what have you been doing?”

He raised an eyebrow at me. “Looking out for your ass, what else?”

“For me? I haven't seen you in four years except these past couple days. Nobody's been looking out for me, except maybe my parents. You know they said they paid off some guards? Just to make sure that I was left alone in there.”

He shook his head and sat down in one of the chairs, watching a new girl I didn’t recognize on the pole. Before I went upstate, I knew all of the girls at the club. Now, it seemed like we had a whole set of new meat. I sat down next to Dante and the waitress brought over whiskey in a glass. I thanked her and raised my glass to Dante. “Salud.”

He raised his glass and did the same. I swallowed the golden liquid in one gulp. It burned my insides. I closed my eyes and put my hand over them to shield them from the bright lights of the floor while Dante enjoyed a private show.

Fuck prison. I tried not to think about it since I’d been given my freedom. But these past four years had been absolute hell. If my parents really were paying off some guards, I didn't know it. They sure as hell didn’t act like it.

I could remember my first week there. Getting in line for food, keeping my eyes on the linoleum floor. I didn't want to be noticed. I was the only one from the family in that facility. And when you don't have friends in a place like that, you only have enemies. I was next in line when some jackass pushed his way in front of me. It wasn’t in my nature to let anybody disrespect me like that, but I didn't want to fight. I'd already seen the guards manhandle some guy as they dragged his screaming ass to solitary. I wasn't ready for that shit.

So I just let it go. I took my ugly yellow tray right after he took his and I watched them slop some sort of disgusting food onto my plate. It was brown and it smelled like dog food. But as the guy got to the dessert bar, which had melted ice cream, he took two. He looked right at me and told me that I didn't need any.

  “Virgins don't get none.”

I licked my lips. It took everything in me not to choke the life out of that awful son of a bitch. Instead, I spent the next several weeks plotting my revenge against him. Every day at lunch was the same thing. He pushed in front of me and took my dessert. Like some school kid being bullie
d by an upperclassman. But I was that kid that you had watch out for. The quiet one that you would never suspect.

I'd been there an entire month before I finally unleashed on him. The guards had known that he was picking on me at lunch, but they never did anything about it, so I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. It was visiting day. I remembered because I had overheard the bastard talking loudly about how he got to have a conjugal visit with his woman. I made sure that he wasn’t able to make that visit.

He was in the shower when I shanked him. I opened up his neck so badly that there was blood on three of the four walls. I had made the shiv out of my toothbrush. The three weeks that that I spent in solitary as a result were worth it. Not to mention I gained some friends. Two other guys took the fall with me, said that it was a joint endeavor. Even though it wasn't. It was only me. Everyone wanted that asshole dead, but I was finally the one with enough balls to take care of him. In prison, you have to be the bully. Command respect from the other inmates. I earned theirs that day.

Nobody ever cut in front of me for food again. I never sat alone. I was the one that could bounce between the Blacks and Whites and Latinos and nobody cared. But that was because of respect and fear. That was what the mob had taught me. The respect I earned was worth three weeks in solitary, and it made my sentence a lot more bearable.

As the song ended and the girl bent over and collected her cash, I pulled out my phone and texted Farrah. A part of me wanted to call her, or go to her, find out the truth about what she was really up to. But I didn’t have time for that shit right now, I had to keep everyone else happy. I couldn’t afford for them to go snooping around. If Pops got to her before I got the truth, it wouldn’t be pretty.

  Are you up yet?

It only took a few seconds to respond.

Sure am. Join me for lunch?

Can’t. Too much work to do. I won't be home until tomorrow.

I don't like the bed empty.
