“When I slept with this guy, I was sexually attracted to him…but that was it. There were no other feelings there; I was able to walk away without any desire to see him again. With you, I knew it was dangerous; I felt something for you the day we met. I told myself to stay away from you, but last night with all the shots and flirting, I lost my will to resist you. I gave in, and it was amazing. Beyond amazing,” I say, smiling up at him.

“Savannah, last night was amazing for me too. Every time I move a muscle in my body aches, and it reminds me of you. I swear I have been hard most of the day because I can’t get you out of my head.”

I can feel the heat rising to my face as his words hit full force. What is wrong with me? Why am I finding myself enjoying the fact that he has been turned on by his memories of us together last night.

Who the hell am I trying to kid? I’m screaming enthusiastically inside my head right now, because he just verified to me that he’s been thinking about me as much as I have about him.

“Hmmm,” he moans as he runs his finger along my flushed cheek, “Did I make you blush, Savannah?” Every time he says my name, my panties instantly become wet.

I cross my legs trying to stop the throbbing. He’s making all my walls come down with a smile and a swipe of a finger over my face. Shit. This is not good.

I need to focus, and stop allowing his sexier than sin body to distract me.

Swallowing slowly, I continue, “The problem is after I fell asleep. I woke up next to you and panic washed over me. I never planned on staying the night; didn’t want things to get complicated in the morning. I didn’t want to set myself up to get hurt, and I was afraid we would wake up, part ways and then you would want to pretend nothing happened. Especially with having the Envy party today, knowing I would have to see you again so soon after last night.”

“So…you thought sneaking off in the middle of the night was the best option? If you didn’t want to spend the night, you should have just said so. I would’ve just walked you down to your suite,” His voice drips with disappointment. “I feel awful that you were upset that was the last thing I wanted.” He grabs my hands and holds them firmly in his, his eyes going from fire hot to serious in a split second.

“I’ve had my fair share of heart break Savannah. I never used to be this womanizing player that I am today. Like you, I’m this way to protect myself. I loved someone once before, and I got hurt in the end. Now, I never know who likes me for me. I never know if people want to be with me because they actually like being around me or if it’s just because of my name, my money…Most of the women I hook up with want to sleep with the guy they see on magazines, and not with me, because they have spent time with me and had a chance to get to know the real me.”

“I get it, believe me I do. I’ve had enough guys ask me out because of who my parents are.”

The sadness in his eyes takes my breath away. It never crossed my mind he had sealed his heart off as a way to protect it; that this was the reason he never hooked up with the same woman twice. It was then I realized Kayden went outside of his comfort zone too last night.

“So last night…was it the first time you had been with the same woman more than one time since you had your heart broken?” I’m afraid of his answer. Was it wrong for me to enjoy the idea of him doing something with me that he normally wouldn’t do with other women?

“I think you already know the answer to that question, Savannah.”

Before I can speak, his lips are on mine; his hands, with a touch I’ve craved, explore my body. I’m so taken aback that it takes me a second to react. I feel his lips form a smile, and I slowly lose the strength to resist him. “Savannah, for tonight, please stop over thinking everything and just let go,” he murmurs into my ear. “Let’s not try to dissect whatever the hell this is and just give into it and enjoy it for what it is… amazing fucking sex.”

With those words, any ounce of strength to keep resisting his advances disintegrates instantly. I will probably regret this decision tomorrow because I know I’m playing with fire, and when you play with fire, you know you’re going to get burned. Right now I just don’t care.

  Chapter Fifteen

Kayden’s breathing is rapid against my neck as he kisses, sucks and nibbles along my collarbone. He towers over me and presses himself between my legs.

I run my hands over his muscular arms, taking in every inch of his body. He’s wearing the same cologne he had on last night, and the smell washes over me, filling my nose with pleasure.

He grips my thigh firmly and moans into my ear as I glide my fingers through his hair, entwining them in his locks and gently pulling, as desire shoots through my body.

“You drive me crazy,” he growls, before sealing his lips back over mine.

I love the taste of spearmint and liquor on his tongue as it dives into my mouth, exploring every inch of it. Just as he loops his fingers into the elastic of my panties, there’s a knock on his office door.

Panic takes over and snaps me back to reality; just outside that door was my boss, co-workers and everyone who was here for Kayden. Every time I’m around him, I lose all common sense.

I quickly push Kayden off me and fix my hair before reaching down to adjust my panties and dress. “Oh, my God, Kayden! What were we thinking?” I whisper, hoping whoever is at the door can’t hear us.

“We weren’t thinking…and I have no regrets. Neither should you.” His words come out between sharp breaths as he tries to regain his composure.

Standing up, he fixes his shirt and pants. God he looks so sexy; he doesn’t even have to try. I notice his jaw muscles flexing as he finishes tucking in his shirt. He’s pissed off because I’m saying out loud what we both know.

We’re fooling ourselves thinking that we will walk away from one another unscathed.

Tossing my hands in the air, I burrow my eyes straight into his, “That’s my point! Every time I’m near you, I make rash decisions without considering the consequences. What if that’s Eloise outside the door? What will we say?” I’m seriously freaking out now; I could kill Rebecca for bringing me to his office.

Yeah, my boss jokingly said I should go after Kayden, but I doubt she’d really be all for me sleeping with someone we have a professional relationship with.

He takes a step closer and places his hand on my cheek, staring so deeply into my eyes that I have to look away.

“Savannah, look at me.” He commands with determination in his voice. I glance back at him; whoever was at the door was persistent, and they continue to knock aggressively. “Hold on a minute," he shouts across the office towards the knocking, before turning his attention to me. “If you’re that worried, go in the bathroom and wait for me to see who it is. If I have to go back to the party just wait for me to leave and slip out after a few minutes. It’s nothing to freak out about. You really need to learn to relax," he laughs and flashes me a devilish grin.

His laugh sends a shiver down my spine. I can’t help but smile back at him.

He has this strange control over me, and I can’t help but relax. “Okay, you’re right. I’ll go hide and clean myself up while I’m at it. I don’t want to get my picture taken with this hair,” I giggle. I plant a quick peck on his lips and quickly run into the bathroom.

I hear Kayden open the door and the sound of an unfamiliar man's voice echoes into me. “Geesh man, what the hell took you so long? I thought I was going to have to bust the door down,"

“Sorry, I was in the bathroom. What’s up?"

“Giselle is out there looking for you. You’re the only guy I know who shows up with a smoking hot date and leaves her out there, while you sit around in your office taking business calls.”

Oh, my God, Kayden has a date? Of course, he has a date! While she’s out there, he is in here, seconds away from fucking my brains out. Again. I touch up my lipstick and wait for Kayden and the mystery man to finish their conversation so I can get back to the party.

I hear Kayden snap at the guy,
“Well she knew what she signed up for when she agreed to be my date to these events. I don’t do romance and all that mushy bullshit. She got to arrive on my arm, tell her to enjoy the party. You know I can’t stand the girl, yeah she’s hot, but she’s fuckin’ annoying as all hell. Anyway, she probably could care less about spending her time here with me; she just wants to have her photo taken alongside me so she can say she came with Kayden Knox. There are plenty of single guys and some married ones out there who will gladly keep her entertained for me.”

“Whoa, sorry, man. Don’t shoot the messenger. I’ll tell her you’re busy with a phone call and will come find her shortly…Okay?”

“Thanks. Sorry for snapping at you Braxton, I’m just a bit on edge with my Dad and Luanne being here and all. I’d rather stay locked up in here all night than have to spend five more minutes around those two.”

“Don’t worry about it; I understand completely…I can’t believe they actually came. Maybe they’ll get bored and excuse themselves early, and then the real party can begin.” I hear them both laugh and then the door shuts.

I stand there for a moment, trying to listen. I don’t know if Kayden has left with him or not. By the way he spoke to him, it sounded as if he planned on staying in here for a while longer. I wonder why he doesn’t want to be around his dad and his fiancée.

When we researched Kayden for the magazine article I didn’t read anything about their relationship being strained. Kayden’s knock on the bathroom door startles me, and I let out a small scream.

“Savannah? Are you okay in there? He’s gone; you can come out now,” I slowly slip out of the bathroom to find Kayden leaning against the wall by the door.

“I’m fine. I was just waiting to see if you were still in here,” I say, trying to avoid eye contact with him. Suddenly, I’m so nervous that I can’t seem to stand still, so I stare down at my feet and wait for him to say something. The entire feeling in the room has shifted.

“I imagine you heard all of that," he sounds defeated. “I want you to stop thinking whatever the hell it is you are in that overactive brain of yours, Savannah. Yes, I came with a date…but she is nothing to me, so don’t feel guilty for one fuckin’ second about what just happened in here.”

“I feel awful. You have someone out there looking all over for you,” I say, pointing towards the doorway. “Do you know how bad I would have felt if that was her knocking on the door…interrupting us?”

“I know, I wasn’t thinking! Hell, I can’t think at all when you’re around Savannah! I got caught up in the moment, and all I wanted was to be inside you. You have me all up in knots; I hate what you’re doing to me. I crave you…I want nothing more than to hear you screaming my name while I make your body explode”. He rakes his hand through his hair again, before stepping towards me and grabbing my arms.

Within seconds, he’s spinning me around and pushing me against the wall. My eyes are drawn to his like a moth to a flame. I can’t fight the attraction, no matter how hard I try.

“What the fuck are you doing to me Savannah?” He positions his knee between my legs to hold me up and kisses me so passionately that my body goes limp.

His ripped stomach presses against mine, pinning me against the wall, and he slides his hands all over my body and stopping at my thighs. I pull his shirt up and run my hands along his hard, muscular back, gently grazing my nails along his smooth skin, making him moan into my mouth.

He grips my thighs harder and I slide further down the wall so I’m resting on his leg – the pressure on my clit causing a groan to escape my lips

“There’s no time to fuck, but I am not letting you out of this office all hot and bothered…there are way too many guys out there who will see that hunger in your eyes and be all over you. I will not allow that to happen,” he whispers into my ear, his deep drawl sending shivers through my body.

“Oh God, every time you speak it does crazy things to my body,” I manage in between moans, as he slides his fingers under my lace panties and finds the spot that’s craving his touch.

His fingers dive deep inside of me, massaging my inner walls and causing pleasure to build intensely inside of me. I lose myself completely as he devours my body.

I dig my nails into his shoulders, trying to hold onto him while my climax builds inside of me, “I’m going to…”

Kayden cuts me off, kissing me feverishly again and moving his thumb eagerly over my clit as his fingers continue to fuck me. Kayden screams in pleasure as I bite down on his lip and dig my nails harder into his back; I explode with one of the most intense orgasms, squeezing his fingers as I ride the waves of pleasure coursing through my body.

Every time with Kayden feels even more amazing than the last. It’s like my body is constantly craving him, just waiting for the next time he touches me.

“You are so fucking hot right now, dripping wet because of me,” he says, licking my neck as he cups my ass in both hands. “I almost came in my pants. That was so hot…hearing you moan and scream my name like that. Words cannot come close to describing how amazing you feel, taste…it’s addicting.”

I smooth his shirt back down and run my fingers through his hair, gazing into those deep green, beautiful eyes. They are so bright and full of happiness because of me; it’s crazy how much things can change in a matter of a few minutes.

“I think you’re going to kill me, Kayden Knox!” I giggle as he squeezes my butt, pushing me into him. “You make me want to do naughty things every second of the day.”

“I’m happy to hear I’m being such a bad influence on you, Miss Livingston. Being a naughty girl means I get to punish you,” He playfully slaps my ass, making me squeal.

“You better watch yourself Kayden, or I’ll be putting you over my knee.” His reaction is priceless. His eyes are as big as saucers, and that sexy ass grin comes over his face again.

“Ohh believe me Savannah, I would love nothing more than for you to punish me! But we have a party to get back to before they send the cavalry in to get me,” he says, rolling his eyes. He tucks his shirt back in, and I excuse myself back to the bathroom.

My face is flushed, and I can’t get rid of this grin; my cheeks were definitely going to be sore from all this smiling. It feels good to smile and be happy after the way my evening began.

“Kayden,” I say as I step out of the bathroom and walk over to him. He looked so handsome in his suit, “I hope you’re not upset with me for all the craziness outside with the paparazzi,”

“The only person I’m upset with is your douche bag of an ex-boyfriend. I would love to take out my pent up frustrations on his pretty boy face.”

“Believe me I would pay to see that! But I just want to make sure you are okay? I feel awful for directing attention away from you and your party; it’s the last thing I wanted…believe me." He wraps his hands around me, pulling me against his chest. I tip my head up to look at his face, studying it to see if he was being honest.

“I’m not upset, trust me.” He places a gentle kiss on my nose, making butterflies flutter inside my stomach. This is not good…Not. Good. At. All.

“Okay…Well, are you ready to go out and enjoy your party?” I don’t know how we’re going to play this. Do we walk out together or separately? Everything has happened so fast over the last thirty minutes; I don’t know what’s going on. “Don’t want to leave your date waiting,” I say with more sarcasm than I planned.

Kayden grabs my hand and stops me from opening the door, his face instantly turning serious.

I hear the desperation in his voice when he speaks, “Giselle means nothing to me, and I want to make that very clear. Her father manages our hotel in Paris, and she’s a friend of the family. I take her to events with me sometimes. She uses me to get her face on magazines, and boost her modeling career, and I use her so I don’t have to show up to an event alone. We have never and will never be more then friends. Our relationship is purely platonic. I have no reason to lie to you Savannah.

I don’t know what to say besides, “Alright.”

We head back out to the party separately; I don’t need another reason to draw attention to myself. I have enough on my plate as it was.

Walking back into the party, I quickly find Rebecca, and she instantly drags me off to the only semi-private place we can find: the ladies room.

She’s as giddy as a school girl when I recount the events that had occurred tonight. “I’m so going to enjoy living vicariously through you,” she says with a Cheshire cat smile plastered across her face.

Talking about it out loud to her, reliving those moments of passion instantly puts me in a good mood, and I don’t stop smiling for the rest of the evening.

I catch glimpses of Kayden throughout the night. He spends most of his evening mingling and networking. He even jokes about the gigantic mock cover of Envy they had on display with his gorgeous self-gracing the cover.

I love how he doesn’t take himself too seriously; even with a billion dollars in the bank and celebrity status, he was still a humble person.

I spot his father, Victor Knox and his extremely beautiful, much younger fiancée, Luanne Granger mingling with some of Kayden’s business associates. Kayden is the spitting image of his father; the only difference being Victor’s grey speckled hair and perfectly groomed goatee.

His fiancée looks as if she stepped straight out of a Victoria’s Secret catalog; she is tall with olive skin and long, silky black hair, big almond shaped brown eyes and a small button nose, which I would bet any money she was not born with.

I didn’t witness Kayden and his father interact the entire evening; it was as if they were deliberately avoiding each other.

I’m sitting at the bar with Rebecca, sipping on a glass of champagne, when I feel Kayden standing behind me. It’s strange how my body responds to him; I could feel his presence before actually seeing him. He leans over the bar, ordering a Corona with a slice of lime.

The way he runs his finger up the side of the glass bottle, grinning ear to ear, makes my entire body tingle with excitement. I begin to feel flush as I remember where those fingers were just a few hours earlier.
