The Girl That Was Obsessed With Murder

by James Larpson

Charlie looked down at the Bible and smiled. The lamp that once flickered remained on, without turning off again. He took several seconds to get back on his feet, but Charlie got up.

“Thank you,” he heard a voice say. He turned to see Mary staring at him, looking overjoyed. She was clothed in a red dress.

  “You beat it,” she said.

She walked to him, and touched his wrist.

“I knew you were different. Are you okay?”

Her gaze was on his scratches and the blood dripping from him.

  “I’m perfect.”

They smiled at each other. She reached out her hand, and Charlie cupped his in hers. Charlie wasn’t a normal kid. He went through a lot. He was almost framed and charged for murder, and even thought his sister was capable of such. But that stuff didn’t matter—none of it did. He was a new person.

Thunder echoed in Kate’s ears. She found her body bent in ways a human couldn’t normally stay. She raised both arms in unison. Her body stood up, and there was something different about her. There wasn’t any pain in her body anymore. She took a deep breath, whispered and mumbled something under her breath, and stared at Meredith’s house through her piercing, red eyes.

There are two sides to every person. You choose to be controlled by either one of them. Getting to the good means beating the evil within us. Some find it impossible, and some lucky ones figure it out.
