Between Heaven and Earth

Cassie watched as an adorable, pig-tailed little girl and her mother discussed which set they would acquire next— the bake shop or pet store?
No superhero play there. Cassie sighed with longing.
“Find something you like?” Matt came up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders, starting one of his back rubs that made her insides puddle.
“As a matter of fact, I did.” She turned to face him and noticed a rather large bag on the floor between his legs.
“Train accessories,” he explained. “What good is track without a lot of cars and cool things to put on them?”
“Of course.”
“So what about you? Have your eye on anything? Just name it, and it’s yours.”
“Hmm.” Cassie placed a hand over her stomach, thinking of Pearl and of the past. Be careful what you wish for.
She threw caution to the wind. This was a wish that could only turn out good. “Actually, there is something I’d like.” She circled her arms around Matt’s waist.
“What’s that?” He leaned closer and nuzzled her hair.
Cassie smiled as she watched the mother and daughter make their selection. “I want two, actually— two little girls.”

Michele Paige Holmes spent her childhood and youth in Arizona and northern California, often curled up with a good book instead of out enjoying the sunshine. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in elementary education and found it an excellent major with which to indulge her love of children’s literature.
Her first novel, Counting Stars, won the 2007 Whitney Award for Best Romance. Its companion novel, a romantic suspense titled All the Stars in Heaven, was a Whitney Award finalist, as was her first historical romance, Captive Heart. My Lucky Stars completed the Stars series.
In 2014 Michele launched the Hearthfire Historical Romance line, with the debut title, Saving Grace. Loving Helen is the companion novel, with a third, Marrying Christopher released in July 2015.
When not reading or writing romance, Michele is busy with her full-time job as a wife and mother. She and her husband live in Utah with their five high-maintenance children, and a Shitzu that resembles a teddy bear, in a house with a wonderful view of the mountains.
