He moved her up on the bed and lifted the skirt portion of her dress up...

“I like that noise...” she said with her voice taking on that purring quality that seemed to happen when she was getting all worked up.

  “What noise?” he questioned.

“The contented noise you just made. You like me wet with no panties on waiting for you.”

“That is particularly arousing…” he said as he moved down until he was at her knees. He lifted one leg and kissed the inside of her thigh.

“This may be the first time we've been in a bed.”

“I know that and thought we could make effective use of this one.” He could tell she was getting sad.

Kissing his way down to her sweet-smelling pussy he was again hit by how different this whole experience was. Not that he didn't love sex and women—he did. Moving his thumb to the top of her slit and ran it down the moist center careful not to stimulate the small bundle of nerves she wanted him to touch so badly. She moved her hips, trying to get more pressure where she wanted it to be, but he wasn’t going to let that happen. He wanted her to remember this after they were apart. He got pleasure from giving pleasure—it was an equal exchange. Maybe not equal. He tried to give more than he received, but this was different. He didn't want to give pleasure he wanted her to enjoy him, want him around without the needing anything from him. In the back of his mind he knew something was going to happen to take all this away. He wasn’t meant to be happy and have the woman of his dreams in his life, but he wasn't sure quite how this was going to go.

Her hand landed in his hair, and he looked up at her. He appreciated her need to touch him and welcomed it. There was a feeling of doom, the end was near. They could both feel he wanted to let down his guard a little. Maybe see what that was like and hope things didn’t go as badly for him as he thought they would.

Breathing in her sweetness he parted the lips with his tongue tasting her, teasing her, and tempting her.

“Camden, can we do something different?” she panted.

He gave a firmer lick to her clit and watched her shudder. “What would you like to do?”

“Take off your pants and come up here.” She waited for him to remove his items, then pulled him up and kissed him in a way he would always associate with her. She seemed to taste him. Little kisses and licks and then a full open mouth kiss. She did this several times until she gave up the little kisses and licks part. He loved it. It was like she was teasing herself with him until she had to take more. It aroused him to no end.

She rolled so she was on top of him, and he immediately knew what this was about. She wanted to make him lose control. She’d always had the power to do so, but he was never ready to relinquish it, but now he was. He’d try to open himself up more.

Gemmi rocked her wet pussy over his stiff cock, and he didn’t try to stop the shudder that ran through his body. He knew she enjoyed the sexy noise that accompanied their lovemaking, but her energy was turned to turbo. It may have been the anxiety of being with her family, and whatever happened that made her feel she needed a pretend boyfriend, or the fact that their association was going to be different than it’s been previously, but she was wound up.

“Gemmi, baby, hold on,” Camden tried to reel her in, but she continued writhing and pumping against his hard cock. They were both going to blow and not really make good use of the bed. He rolled on top of her and kissed her softly on her face, down the side of her cheek and to her neck. He wanted to calm her down before revving her back up, so he got up, quickly put on a condom, and returned to her.

She was ready when he returned. “I’d like to be on top?” she said with a cute smile.

He lay down and waited for her. She kissed down his body stopping at every hot spot he had. She’d been paying attention, close attention to what he liked, and how he was touched. She licked, nipped, sucked, and bit until he’d had enough.

“Gemmi, please.” The words and the groan tore from his throat, and he didn’t know who was more surprised out of the two of them. Gemmi’s smile lit up her face, and he was happy he could give her what she’d been trying to obtain.

She aligned her body with his and slowly sank down on his cock. He could feel her sweet warmth with every inch that disappeared into her body. He bit his lip trying to give her the opportunity to drag whatever she could out of him. Slowly up and slowly down. She was trying to kill him that was the only answer. He moved his hand to her hip to help her gain a bit of speed and depth. The smoothness of her hip along with the tightness of her body had him closer to completion than he’d ever allowed himself to be without his partner already crossing the finish-line or being very close.

He looked up to find Gemmi staring at him. She was aroused, but not as close as he was. Biting her lip, and squeezing her nipple now she was close…

“Gemmi, baby. Slow down just a little for me,” he said, but the naughty smile on her face told the story of how this was going to go.

“You don’t want me to slow down, do you, Camden?” His sweet Gemmi had turned into a sultry siren right in front of his eyes. She placed her left hand on her breast and her right hand snaked between her legs. He thought she was going to stimulate herself and let him watch, but his deviant princess was going for broke. She wrapped her fingers around his cock and was providing extra stimulation for him.

A sound he didn’t know he could make was starting low in his throat and growing. “Come with me, Gemmi,” he said, hoping she could understand through the release that was starting. The sensations seemed to be shooting everywhere and the climax that came was one of epic proportions. He caught his breath, flipped Gemmi over and thrust into her close and tight to hit her clit as he slid home once, twice and on the third time she hit the peak he wanted her to get to before him.

They lay there waiting to catch their accumulative breaths when Gemmi lifted her head and looked at him with a beaming smile.

“What?” he said not able to keep from returning her smile.

“Thank you, Camden. That’s just what I wanted.”

“For me to shoot off without taking care of your needs first?”

“No, for you to really feel something. You let go and let me see you. I know that’s a vulnerable place to be. I’m there all the time so I know that was hard for you to agree to. I’m not going to say any more about it but…I appreciate it.”

  “The pleasure was all mine.”

Her family members covered the beach. Milling around the picnic tables that had been set up by the caterers and some wading in the water. It was a cool sixty-two degrees, but people couldn’t help wanting to put their toes in the water. Her mother spotted her and ran up with a hug.

“Glad to see you could make it. I got to meet you briefly, but I’d like to learn more about the man who’s keeping our little girl so occupied.”

  “That’s subtle, Mom.”

  “I’m a mom. I don’t do subtle.”

“Pleasure to be here, Mrs. Brooks. I’m glad Gemmi decided to bring me.” He was making a fast friend of her mom, that was a good idea, but she didn’t want him to overdo it. When this was all over, she was going to have to tell people why she let this one go. She didn’t want him to be perfect.

“Well, I’ll talk to you later. Take a walk on the beach the food should be ready in a bit. Have your fun alone now, because who knows when the family will let you both go after that. So, enjoy your time together.” Her mother waved her off and returned to talk to family members who she only saw once a year.

They walked barefoot down the beach watching the waves hit the shore. The salt-water scented breeze and the cool water was a perfect blend for the warm day, and they walked barefoot down the beach with the waves lapping at their feet.

“So why don’t you have a real girlfriend? You’re such a great guy, it’s hard to believe that some woman hasn’t snatched you up yet.”

He shrugged, catching her hand and swinging it between them.
Just never stayed still long enough to keep one.”

“What do you mean? You’ve lived in the same place most of your life, right?” she said, trying to find information before he was gone.

“Pretty much.” Getting personal information out of Camden was like trying to squeeze lemonade from a rock. She’d decided to change the subject.

“When did you move in with your grandparents?”

“I lived with them for as long as I can remember. My grandmother passed away a few years ago and my grandfather followed a few months later.”

“Do you have pictures of your parents?” She kept up with the questions just wanting to know more about the man she wanted to keep in her life despite the fact she kept telling herself this was a man she’d not be able to keep.

  “Some. They’re at the house.”

“I saw some, but I didn’t see any of you with your parents.”

He dropped her hand and walked a few steps away from her. She stood behind him watching his back as he stared at the waves. She knew he could be a man of few words, and it seemed like this conversation was hard for him. “There aren’t any.”

She waited for him to elaborate. When he didn’t, she moved behind him, hooked her arms around his waist and hugged him close. They stood there watching the waves rise and crash together. Here, he was going out of his way to pull off this heist for her and all she could do was interrogate him about a subject that was clearly painful.

“Are you ready to go back and eat?” she asked after a few minutes.

  “Sure.”

The walk back wasn’t as serene as the walk up. There were things bubbling under the surface of this man, but he seemed willing to lighten his load and share the burden. She wanted to help him, to take away the pain that seemed to roll off him when she’d held him to her but had no idea where or how to begin. She should call True, see if she had some insight through her friendship with Beau, but that felt a bit like going behind Camden’s back.

“Camden, I know that this is a temporary relationship and I probably don’t have the right to ask this, but…” Gemmi trailed off as Camden held up his hand seemingly to stop her flow of words. She opened her mouth to try again and she watched Camden’s face go from aloof to stormy.

“Gemmi, don’t.” His voice was harsher than she’d ever heard it before. “Let’s just do what we came here to do. You wanted your family to see you could bring a boyfriend and you have that. Let that be enough.” He took her hand and walked them to the picnic area the hotel had set up.

The picnic was great, and the family was enthralled with Camden, but the magic between them was gone. He was doing the job he came to do, but the smiles he gave her were the flat, placating version he reserved for the women at the bar. She’d had the real Camden, and she knew the brilliance of his smile, the warmth of his touch and she wanted that back.

As they walked back to their hotel room, she thought of ways to clear the air. The air-conditioned room felt wonderful, but her spirit was withering.

“Camden, I’m sorry about bringing up topics that upset you.”

“Don’t worry about it. Your family’s great.”

“They’re pretty terrific, for the most part.” She moved closer, smoothed her hands up his chest. “Want to take a shower together?”

He moved away from her to the other side of the room and she felt like she’d been punched.

“No, I’m pretty beat. Why don’t you take a shower first and I’ll rest until you’re done, then I’ll get cleaned up?”

  “Camden?”

He shook his head. “Go on and take a shower.” She moved closer to him again, but he held out his hand to stop her. “Please.”

“I’ll be out soon.” I’ll be out soon. What was she saying? It seemed like he wished she’d stay in there and just leave him alone.

  ***

Watching what his attitude was doing to Gemmi was breaking Camden’s heart. How was she to know she was picking at a particularly sore spot, one that was especially sensitive at this time of year? He should just tell her. Tell her why he didn’t have a girlfriend, why he was destined to be alone and why there were no pictures of him and his parents. Then again, what did it matter? She wasn’t looking for a real boyfriend. All she wanted was a warm body to impress her family and then she would be done with him. This type of thinking would get him shitfaced drunk if he didn’t stop it. He picked up the ice-bucket and decided to take a walk to the ice machine. Some cold water would do him good.

Almost as soon as he opened the door Rosy in her black teddy and matching robe was waving her arms and whispering about something.

“Please come with me Camden there is a giant bug in my bathroom and I have to go.”

“Why didn’t you call down to the front desk?”

“I did. They said it would be about fifteen minutes, but I can’t wait.”

“Did you want to use our bathroom?”

She paused for a second. “Gemmi isn’t taking a shower now?”

  “You’re right she is.”

“This is an emergency. Please, Camden.” Rosy looked sincere, and he hated to leave a lady in distress. At least he could do this. Something where he wasn’t worried about how much he was keeping away from Gemmi and how he could be tainting her future by including her in his.

  Chapter 11

Gemmi took another look around and couldn’t see anything different about the room except the ice bucket was gone. She’d been out of the shower for six hours, and still waiting to find Camden. Where could he have gone? She checked the lobby, made a couple of casual calls to her family members, and she even sucked up her pride and called Rosalyn’s room. It seemed he’d given up on her and left. The only thing that was keeping her relatively calm was his stuff was still here. His wallet, cell phone, and his keys were on the dresser where he left them. That had to be saying something, right?

Something could have happened to him. He wasn’t in the best of moods when she last saw him. It was possible that he went out for a drink or a walk, but she didn’t think he would do that. He was thoughtful, and she’d already scoured the room for a note.

She called the front desk. “I’m sorry to bother you sir, but my boyfriend has been gone for a good long while, and he didn’t take his wallet or cell phone. I’m a bit concerned.”

“Is he a person who needs medication at a certain time?”

“No, but this is unlike him and I’m concerned about what could have happened to him.”

“Do you have a picture of him?”

“No,” she said, wondering why she never took a picture of him if for nothing else but to have for herself.

“You said he left his wallet does he carry identification with him.”

  “Hold on let me check.”

“Yes, he has a driver’s license.”

“Bring it down to the front desk and we can make a copy of his picture to be on the lookout for him. The police won’t touch this case unless he’s been missing for twenty-four hours. Usually adults just run off for some reason and just show up again when they’re ready, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. The manager on duty can take the information from you and I’ll go tell her what’s going on. Are you on your way down?”

“Yes, thank you, I’ll be down in a few minutes.” She hung up the phone and started to feel foolish. She couldn’t even keep a pretend boyfriend around for the amount of time that was necessary. Well karma got around good, and bad. This was probably payback for the multitude of lies she had been spewing for the last few weeks.

  ***

“I can’t believe this.” Camden tried the door for the millionth time, and he couldn’t believe it wouldn’t budge. He didn’t have any way to communicate with anyone, and neither did his happy little bathroom mate, Rosy.

He should’ve known something like this would happen. He usually had a good read on people and situations, but the turmoil that was within him after the talk with Gemmi had bothered him. He walked right i
nto this trap, and he was going to end up hurting Gemmi.

“What did you put on the door Rosy?”

“You think I did this on purpose?”

“Yes.” At least she had the sense to look guilty.

“Why don’t you like me, Cam?” She looked like a wounded little girl all curled up in the bathtub.

“I don’t dislike you. You’re a customer at the bar. I talk to you all the time.”

“You know I’ve always wanted to date you, and you always treat me like everyone else. What’s so special about Gemmi?”

“Maybe because you try too hard, or maybe it’s because it’s not meant to be, or you’re not my type. I don’t know why, Rosy. It’s never really been anybody, and it’s possible that it’s my fault.” He looked at her and saw the vulnerable woman she usually hid and felt sorry for her.

“What’s so special about Gemmi?” he said. “She’s a wonderful person, she gets my jokes, and we have a lot in common. She’s the only woman I’ve been with who can sit quietly in the same room I’m in, and there’s no need to fill the silence with empty talk.”

“I’m never going to be that for you, am I?”

“No. Is that what this was—a ploy for me to see who you really are?” He watched her put her head on her knees and hide her face. “I have to tell you, this was not the right way to go about it. I’m pissed, and you have no exit strategy. We’ve been in here all night, the bathroom wall isn’t facing the hallway, and there is no way to contact anyone.”

  “I’m sorry, Camden.”

“Do you ever think of anyone other than yourself?”

“I was thinking about you and all the fun we could have.”
