Even though I’m a Yank in the U.S. (of solid Irish background . . .), I am hoping that adding my meager ‘tuppence’ here will be acceptable; good! I was fifty-ten on Friday, April 10. After hearing Susan Boyle’s voice this week, and being incredibly fortunate to have seen a number of original Broadway musicals live while growing up in New York, her voice is, hands - and feet! - down, one of the best I have ever heard. Combine that with her innocence, her pluck, and the ‘Simonish’ judgment - be honest - all of us made about her before she sang, and, well, GOOD FOR HER!! (It’s about damn time, eh?)
Hi there, my name is Paul and I come from the same village as susan, and I will admit it, I have seen her but never in my wildest dreams did I think she could sing!! until that is, 8.03 on Saturday night when I was completely blown away by the best singing voice I have heard since debbie harry. I was babysitting my little nephew zack at the time, and as her beautiful tonsils pelted out the classic song from my favourite musical, me and my younger nephew both knew something special was in the making! I actually love u, and would happily pay 8.99 for a susan boyle album!
Without doubt the most magical and moving thing i have ever seen on my tv in all my 45 years!!! I have probably seen it 40 times already and i still cry tears of joy every time!!
Susan you’re the woman next door, the type of person nobody takes much notice of, for some reason when you get to your age and beyond we become nothing more than a ghost to millions, they do not see us! In my now dark days both your wonderful personality and beautiful voice made my heart sing again, thank you for being there for me on that night, with that song. I hope one day you will find a wonderful man who can look beyond vanity, I hope you are kissed for the first time. Never give up the dream, make it come true.
Excellent! What a voice! I’ve watched clip over and over and it truly is beautiful. I believe YOUR dream is about to happen and you’ll be up there with the stars VERY soon. Congratulations on making the first step to success (and I’m sure you’ve made the villagers of Blackburn and Scots everywhere immensely proud). In the run-up to the final, bookmakers were in a flurry of activity as the public placed bets on the final few contestants. Susan was the firm favourite at Ladbroke’s bookmakers in her home town.
As the series reached its finale, it was clear that the most serious threat to Susan’s victory was the brilliantly gymnastic dance troupe, Diversity.
However, if Ant and Dec, the show’s jovial hosts, had the inside scoop on which way the audience was going to vote in the final, they certainly weren’t letting on.
