Olive - The Chosen One

‘Why not kill two birds with one stone?’ she giggled to herself. Why not? They headed to Baths for me - Bagni per me.
‘I so love this shop’ thought Destiny. Amore, amore, amore!
When they arrived the flags were out along with a big sign which said ‘Sale. Everything half price!’
‘This is destiny!’ thought Destiny. Two for the price of one. Bargain!!
She thought to herself ‘Cielo can’t say no now! Plus I have his credit card so I will treat myself to a little anniversary present. I will have it wrapped, delivered and addressed to him. I will say it’s a special present for him. That always works. Maybe I can also have that diamond ring I have my fairy eye on!’
‘Sometimes you just have to play the game’ she thought to herself, especially as Cielo is normally happy to go along with most things she wanted as he liked to see her happy. Destiny knew he loved her so.
Everything was tantalizing in this shop. Mio Dio OMG!
‘I want! I want! I want!’ thought Destiny to herself but, first let’s get Speranza sorted.
She linked his arm and headed straight for a white tub with black feet saying ‘‘this would look amazing especially with black and white fairy tiles on the floor. So very stylish! What do you think Speranza?’’
Speranza swallowed hard and thought ‘have I died and gone to heaven, is this really happening to me?
‘‘I love it!’’ he said ‘‘are you sure the budget will stretch?’’
‘‘No problem’’ said Destiny ‘‘if we are short I can put an extra bit on Cielo’s credit card, he won’t mind in the least, he is a generous soul!’’
Destiny zoomed in on the tub she wanted. She wasn’t sparing any expense. Gold taps it was! Oh yes, she was beyond excited.
She loved the toilets, the sinks, you name it, they were going to have it all. The toilet had an automatic toilet seat, so cool. It opened all on its own and the toilet flushed after each use automatically.
‘How does it know when you are finished?’ she thought to herself.
The order was placed and everyone was happy. Destiny felt even more exhilarated then Speranza. He was in shock, numb from the fairy’s kindness. Destiny was just happy. She was used to spending Cielo’s money and getting what she wanted.
He would say ‘whatever makes you happy makes me happy.’
Yes! She was so fortunate to have met her soul-mate that day on the beach. It was such a long time ago now but, he still made her tiny fairy wings flutter.
Olive smiled to herself.
Her mamma! She was the best and could wrap her father around her little finger. He adored her.
Destiny said she would be buying all the things that make a home a home like towel rails, kitchen pots and pans etc on the fairy internet. The local artist Paolo was donating some arts and had even promised to sketch a picture of Speranza’s family, his late wife Elissa and his two fairy children Chiara and Eros. Speranza would always be able to see them and know that even if they were with the fairy angels, in spirit, they were always with him.
‘What an eventful day’ thought everyone as they sat in the sky mobile enjoying the return journey.
It had been tiring but, well worth it. Speranza had promised that once he was settled in his new home, he would throw a fairy house-warming party. Everyone would be invited. His eyes met with Sunshine’s as he said this.
Cielo picked them up in the sky-car from Sunshine’s. ‘‘Did you get everything you wanted?’’ he said.
‘‘Oh yes!’’ said Destiny.
‘‘I am pleased’’ he said.
Destiny hoped he would remain so when he saw the credit card bill. She smiled to herself thinking ‘oh well, she did the banking, she could always slyly hide it, he would never know!’
They had a long month ahead of them. The work had been planned and scheduled to build Speranza his home. The fairy builders came in first to make sure that the olive tree would remain strong. It had to be fully damp-proofed so that it would not let any water in when the rain came again.
Olive decided that whilst all this was going on, she would have a word at the school where she taught music to see if there were any vacancies for Speranza. After all he was a very experienced teacher and they could use his skills, he was a teacher of the arts. He could play the guitar but, history was his passion. Olive sold Speranza’s talents to the school board and managed to swing an interview for him the very next week. She knew he would need money to pay the bills when his new home was ready. She didn’t think it would all happen so quickly. Cielo gave him a suit to wear. Destiny ordered some teeth whitener off the internet.
‘We had better get them teeth whitened pronto’ she thought. Either that or he wouldn’t be able to smile without feeling conscious!
The teeth whitener arrived. Speranza was a bit apprehensive. The instructions said he would have to dip the moulds in hot water and mould them around his teeth whilst they were soft. He was to fill them with the foaming stuff and put them in his mouth for three hours a day.
‘Quite strange but, worth it if it worked’ he thought to himself.
He even felt he had a mouthful of yellow tomb-stones and they weren’t exactly fetching! Destiny, Olive and Willow said they would all join him in the teeth whitening process just to support him. It would all be rather fun. Hopefully they could get through it without laughing too much. Destiny put the plastic tooth coverings in hot water so they melted a little. She said to Speranza ‘‘open your mouth wide so I can put them in and then close so they have time to mould themselves around your teeth.’’
Speranza smiled to himself. These fairies are so wacky and full of life but, he did as he was told. They all did the same with their moulds and before any time at all they were all bleaching their teeth. Destiny gave Speranza a little more than anyone else as his teeth needed the most work as they were so yellow and dull. It was a hoot as foam started to come out of Speranza’s mouth. Destiny had told him not to swallow it. She gave him a tissue to wipe away the excess. Everyone was trying not to laugh.
‘It had better be worth it’ thought Speranza to himself. It was all so hilarious, they continued this process for a week to get ready for his interview. In the end, everyone had sparkling white teeth including Speranza.
‘Unbelievable!’ he thought. His teeth were nearly as white as the driven snow not that they got any down in southern Italy where they all lived but, he had seen pictures on the fairy news channel.
When Speranza now smiled, he literally glowed in the dark. Let’s say you wouldn’t miss him!
The teeth from the tooth Fairy were being delivered the very next day. Woody had all the legs for the furniture lined up. Several fairies had volunteered to paint them which meant that everything was done so much quicker.
‘Many hands make lighter work’ Speranza thought to himself ‘there are so many kind and giving fairies out there in this world, lots of fairies have so much good in their hearts.’
Olive wanted to make Speranza’s home totally unique. She felt that it would be better if she sent him away after the interview for the teacher’s job just for a few days so that when he returned it would all be ready and it would be a lovely surprise for him. She spoke to Sunshine and between them they made an arrangement that Cielo would take him there for a week. He would be able to chill and find his old self again. This was important after the trauma he had experienced over the last five years.
The day of the interview arrived. Speranza looked quite dashing. He portrayed a young and trendy look so that the fairies on the interview panel would warm to him and hopefully offer him a position. Cielo gave him some aftershave, nothing too heavy, something nice and airy that smelt of the sea. He didn’t want anyone to be overcome by the smell of a heavy aftershave as that wouldn’t make them warm to Speranza especially if they were choking from the fumes of an over-bearing smell. They were bowled over by his knowledge of history, his renewed love of life even after all he had been through, this was
one talented fairy! They gave him a three month trial which began in two weeks time, this was great as it just about fitted into everyone’s plans.
Cielo decided that they would throw a little celebration barbecue in the woods that night, not only had Speranza got a job but his son Luna along with his partner Dandy were returning from Hollywood for a few days. There was excitement in the olive fields.
Woody made a huge sign saying Ben tornato (Welcome home) and Tanti Auguri (lots of congratulations).
Cielo had even organized a fairy steel band to be flown in from the woods of Africa. The fairies wore grass skirts and performed tribal dances to warm up. These little fairies certainly had rhythm and knew how to dance to the dulcet sounds of the steel drums.
Luna and Dandy flew in on a private fairy jet, it all seemed so surreal. Luna was famous! He played a part in a block-buster movie starring as ‘Robertus the Roman Centurion.’ He was adored by all, Dandy was happy to stay at his side and blend into the back-ground but, there was no way that was going to happen! He stood out just as much by the way he dressed. His style set him miles apart from anyone else.
The private fairy jet was like no-one had ever seen before. It was really plush and luxurious with cream leather seats piped in black. The seats were huge and went down into fairy beds. A free food and wine bar was on-hand at all times. They were served refreshments by the most handsome fairy waiters and beautiful fairy waitresses you had ever seen. They all looked like they had just stepped out of a photo-shoot for Pam-Fairy. Pam-Fairy was the ultimate airline in flying luxury. If you didn’t fly Pam-Fairy, then you didn’t fly ultimate class.
A pink fairy limousine was waiting at the airport to bring Luna and Dandy to the olive tree field. Fairies lined the tarmac calling for Luna.
‘‘Luna, Luna we love you.’’
Luna never let the fame go to his head. He was quite happy spending an hour or so signing autographs, after all these were his fans. If it wasn’t for these fans, he wouldn’t be where he is today living in paradise in the Hollywood Hills with Dandy. He was beyond happy and still couldn’t believe his good fortune, every day he thanked his lucky stars. Luna and Dandy were even talking about adopting a fairy baby. There were strict laws on gay couples adopting fairy babies. They were prepared to do anything to get a fairy son or daughter. Anything legal that is!
The whole family couldn’t wait to see them. Cielo was so proud of Luna and the young fairy man he had become. He had grown to love Dandy like a second son especially as he made Luna happy and fulfilled, he realized that was all that was important to him. He loved all his fairy children, all equally.
At last the limousine pulled into the fairy olive field. Everyone’s heart was beating with the excitement of it all but, no-one more than Destiny. After all she was his mamma!
Destiny and Cielo found it strange that they had to fight through the crowds to get to their son and his partner. In the end, they took to flapping their little fairy wings which lifted them high into the sky.
Luna looked up and just caught a glimpse of his parents waving to him.
He nudged Dandy and said ‘‘look!’’
They both looked up laughing.
‘‘Ciao mamma e papi’’ they shouted ‘‘you both look great, we can’t wait for a fairy hug.’’
Cielo thought to himself ‘I will need a big scotch after all this hovering, it’s worn me out!’
At last Luna and Dandy had made their way through the crowds. Luna had signed autographs and now just asked for a bit of peace and time to chill with his family. He said ‘‘I am just a normal olive tree fairy, there is nothing special about me, I am just like all of you and want to see my parents, I haven’t seen them in what feels like forever.’’
With this said, he flew to the table where his parents, Olive and Willow were waiting for him in anticipation.
All the family were up on their little fairy feet waiting for a hug. They both looked well, tanned and fresh, obviously life in Hollywood suited them and the benefit of flying on a private jet was that you could sleep and rest the entire journey. Oh to be rich!!!!
Both fairies were wearing tuxedos, they felt they wanted to dress up for their welcome home party. They had on pink matching bow ties, pale lilac shirts and the shiniest shoes you had ever seen. Their heels were studded with diamonds and it was rumored they were REAL!!!!
The steel band kicked off, the music wafted through the air. The smell of African Cuisine was amazing, everyone was famished, the last few weeks had been so extremely busy.
Once it was announced that the food bar was ready, everyone rushed to be first in the queue. Mio Dio - OMG! This food was delicious! To die for!!!!!
The whole family sat at the main table and couldn’t talk fast enough, there was just so much to tell, so much had happened.
The steel band took a break to enjoy the food that was offered. A 50’s DJ stepped onto the stage to play his tunes.
Cielo was not normally much of a dancer but, when he heard ‘Hey Ho Silver Lining’ he was the first up on his fairy feet before anyone could say fairy Jack Robinson!! He loved this song so much as it reminded him of his youth? It was followed with some Rock and Roll, after all this was his era! Destiny always loved a bit of Rock and Roll and tonight was no exception. As Cielo was in such a good mood and a little merry, maybe now was the time to tell him about the bath, gold taps and the endless list of other things she had brought. A slow dance came on, she snuggled up to Cielo ready to whisper sweet nothings into his fairy ear.
‘‘You have made my life so happy’’ she purred. She gave his ear a little seductive lick, thinking here it comes…….
‘‘Well darling, I have a little secret to share. I have spent 10,000 fairy euros on your credit card but, it was all ‘buy one - get one free’ and some of it went to charity.’’
‘‘Charity!’’ said Cielo ‘‘what charity?’’
‘‘Well’’ she said ‘‘Speranza. You know he has nothing. I just couldn’t help myself and when you see the bath I got for you, for your anniversary present, you will love it!!! Just think of all the lovely little fairy bubble baths we are going to indulge in when the winter sets in.’’
Cielo thought to himself ‘my wife, she’s the bomb! She twists me around her little finger all the time but, as long as she is happy, I am happy!!!’
‘‘You are a naughty little fairy’’ he said to his wife ‘‘I hope that you are going to be extra especially nice to me after spending all that money.’’
‘‘But’’ said Destiny ‘‘I only did it for you. I was only thinking of you and our wedding anniversary. I wanted to make it a special night to remember.’’
She gave a little devious fairy smile and Cielo said ‘‘what are you hoping for your anniversary present my daring?’’
‘‘Oh actually, I have seen a little sparkly three carat fairy diamond that I fell in love with, not too big and not small, I don’t want to be greedy!’’ Destiny retorted. Cielo smiled to himself thinking ‘yes, my wife is the best!!!’
It was decided that at the end of the night Speranza would return with Sunshine and Rainbow to their house and stay there for a week whilst the build was being completed to his new home. Olive planned that everything would be in place for him to move into in a week’s time. Sunshine had cleaned the ‘Pace’ caravan so that Speranza had some independence and could enjoy the feeling of being outside as he hated being hemmed in. She lit the incense before she left and put some hippy rugs on the floor so that Speranza would feel at home.
Speranza still had to pinch himself every day to believe what was happening to him. He just couldn’t believe how these little fairies that were not even his relatives, had opened their homes and their hearts to him. How could he ever repay their kindness? It was just an impossibility.
Speranza slept like a log in Sunshine’s caravan. It was so peaceful, full of character and comfy. He felt a strong attraction to Sunshine and felt that they may become more than just good fr
iends in the future. Sunshine had promised to read Speranza’s tarot cards the next morning.
Sunshine had silently giggled to herself the night before. When she arrived to the party it was already dusk, the first thing she saw when Sperenza came towards her were his teeth! They were gleaming white and were so much better. Everything about Sperenza had changed since their first encounter. He was more self-assured and was dressed to her taste in yellow hippy trousers covered in daisies with a long red hippy shirt, not many men suited red but, as for Speranza, he looked divine.
‘Yes’ she thought ‘this fairy is going to be an important part of my life, I feel it in my water!’
He could even dance, he certainly had rhythm, they danced cheek to cheek all night long. She could smell his aftershave and was carried away by the ambience of it all.
The next morning, she went to Speranza’s caravan with a plate of scrambled eggs, toast and tea (just like Olive taught her) with her tarot cards tucked in her pocket ready for the moment. They ate their breakfast together discussing the events of the previous night and reliving the excitement of it all. Yes, Speranza felt that his life had a new beginning after all the trauma of the last five years.
When Speranza handed Sunshine back the tarot cards after shuffling them, she silently laid them out. She was happy to see that he had chosen the new beginnings card, the card of moving forward along with the closure card. The end of bad things was in sight and a new love was on the horizon.
‘I wonder if that is me?’ thought Sunshine to herself. She smiled inwardly because she didn’t want to be too forward but, she felt that first flush of love and so did he.
The work to make Speranza’s new pad a home started at full force the very next day. Olive was very keen on interior design. She had studied it and recently got a diploma in it but, to be honest she was just a natural. She had a natural flair and talent.
Woody had outshone himself with the furniture he had made. The pieces were clean, practical but trendy, very retro and seemed to bring the olive tree to life. Destiny had ordered some great items on-line which would make this house a home, Willow had hung some of her pictures up. ‘Save the olive trees’ art work was displayed, an oil painting of Speranza’s family was hung which had been painted by the artist and was quite remarkable. It took centre place in the fairy lounge above the fireplace, the resemblance was uncanny. This artist knew how to paint and managed to bring the fairy family alive, it was as if they were in the room looking down smiling. They appeared to be happy that Speranza had at last found peace and a new family of friends.
