I understood where Cecile and his wives came from when they looked at my bank account or my career choices. Val hadn’t fallen in love with me because of those things. It was this crazy person who tracked him into the park that he fell for. I was willing to risk my life for him. I think I filled his empty life as well. How could I let him down now?

Grinning, I tossed an annoyed look over my shoulder at Hoel.

He still kept listing all the reasons this was the worst idea yet he kept following. Maybe that’s how he lost his wings? By making a habit of trailing fools.

I kept to the path. If Val was hunting, he would stick close to where people would walk. I raised my voice and called his name.

  Hoel visibly flinched.

I called again and again, letting my voice echo off the empty woods and over the slow river. The window in our suite overlooked this park. I could sit for hours watching the water flow by.

A twig snapped in a wooded copse not far from the path. The bare branches were thick enough that I couldn’t see what moved inside.

Jumping, I gripped Hoel’s hand. Suddenly the pretty snow and river didn’t seem so romantic. I’d seen horror movies go down like this.

Hoel wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me against him.

“Val?” My voice shook from either cold or fear or both.

Val stepped out into the moonlight. He oozed sensuality as he strode across the snow wearing only a pair of low hung jeans. Steam rose from his skin where the snowflakes landed.

Being the sole focus of his intense scrutiny sent a flutter of anticipation through my body. With both mitted hands, I tried to tame the mass of curls tangled on my head.

Val’s lush lips pressed together and he shook his head. “Get away. Now!”

I jumped at the crack of command in his voice but I wasn’t sure if he meant me or Hoel.

From the expression on the fallen angel’s face, I didn’t think he knew either.

Val paced back and forth over the crusty snow. He raised his head. The air between us sizzled with the heat in his stare. When humans became ill with starvation they grew sickly looking. Our kind did the opposite to draw in prey. In this state, Val could convince a bus full of devout nuns to forget their vows.

I had evolved to feed his kind and he had evolved to hunt mine. He was starved and I was well fed. All we needed to complete this bad idea was Hoel out of the way and a jar of Nutella.

  Chapter Twenty

I released my hold on Hoel and drew closer to Val. “I came to feed you.”

He hissed and ran his hand through his gleaming black hair almost as if he wanted to tear the strands out. The movement drew my attention to the muscles sliding under his skin. “I can’t promise to be good, Pia. You have to run.” His dark stare daggered through my heart. “I’ll hurt you.”

My feet grew roots and I stared at the traitors. This was my succubus instincts when faced with a hungry incubus? To freeze in fear? The air grew thicker with Val’s pheromones. “I trust you not to.”

He barked out a laugh. “How can you? I don’t even trust me.”

“You love me.” I recalled how it felt when Val came close to draining me the other day. It had been wonderful and I would have died happy. Dying hadn’t been on my agenda. Not for a few hundred years. He could have killed me then. He’d been hungry enough but he’d stopped.

Val paced around me, cutting off my path to Hoel. He licked his lips as his gaze flowed over my curves.

The fallen angel shifted closer as if ready to jump Val, but before either of us made another move, Val grabbed Hoel by the elbow, then me, and dragged us stumbling back to the copse.

We both struggled against his steel grip but it was like fighting a giant. I could understand me not being capable of breaking free but Hoel used to be an angel. He held more than his fair share of power. Was my Val that strong?

Once within the shadows of the trees, Val shoved us forward and apart. The snow was thinner here and the bare branches blocked the cold wind. “Umm…I thought we’d go back to the suite for this.” I pointed toward the exit of the park.

He grabbed me by the jacket collar and tore open everything down the middle: shirt, jacket, and bra. All open. Boobs and nipples exposed to the frigid winter air.

I gasped at the sudden bite of cold. “Or we could do this here.” I tried to pull my jacket together but Val’s warm hands covered my breasts before I could finish.

His mouth claimed mine in a clash of teeth and tongue. Vicious and demanding, his hands roamed over my bare flesh.

I couldn’t breathe without taking air from his lungs. The winter’s cold had vanished in the wake of Val’s passion. I dug my fingers into his thick hair and pulled him closer. Fuck caution.

He tugged my jeans and panties down until they tangled around my ankles.

Energy in my lower abdomen stroked up my inside until it reached my throat. I didn’t need to reach climax since I wanted to do this of my own free will. Feeding Val came so naturally now. John’s flavor coated my tongue before the energy spilled into Val.

Moaning, he leaned harder into our kiss. Gone was my gentleman and easy lover. Valerio Hunan exposed his incubus side tonight.

A cold hand pressed against my chest. It didn’t caress my flesh or fondle my more private girly bits. The hand pulled me away from Val’s arms.

I sucked in a lungful of icy air and shook my head clear of incubus fuck-me pheromones.

Hoel stood between us and wrestled with Val who reached his arms toward me. “Go, Pia.” Hoel’s voice sounded strained with the effort to control the stronger male. “Run.”

I leaned against a tree trunk somewhat dazed. Any other time a wrestling match between these two males would have had me scrambling for baby oil and a rubber mat. I caught my breath and watched as Val tore the front of Hoel’s clothes as he had done mine.

They both stopped and stared at each other in stunned silence.

Val motioned for me to come closer as he leaned his hands on his knees and caught his breath. “I’m better.” He paused and stared at his assistant. “That took off some of the edge but I need more.” He pointed to Hoel. “We’ll use him.”

Hoel held up his hands. “Wait a minute. How? I’m not following.”

I shuffled closer since my ankles where somewhat tied up. “Like we did Cooper?” We had once shared my wolf shifter suitor. As I fed from Cooper, Val had fed from me. It was if I’d been a direct conduit. We’d both walked away very well fed but Cooper had passed out. A good nap and a couple of super-sized sandwiches later he had been fine.

“Hoel’s much older than Cooper. He can take care of both of us and still remain strong.”

“Then why can’t you feed like that all the time. You can join me whenever I see my suitors.”

“Just when I don’t think you can be any sweeter you amaze me, Pia.” Val gave me a tender smile. “Your offer is generous but dangerous. You’d burn out having to create so much energy by yourself. It’s why incubi need multiple wives. We too need variety.”

Val grabbed my hand and pulled me to him with my back pressed to his stomach. “You’ve always wanted her.”

Hoel licked his lips and his gaze dropped lower where Val had exposed my body. A flush tinged his caramel colored cheeks that had nothing to do with temperature.

Hunger filled my body as well now that I’d given what I could to Val. There’d been a time when taking Hoel as a lover wouldn’t have crossed my mind since I suspected he had slept with my sisters. To me, that was like swapping gum. We had to feed and do it safely. Hoel, being a powerful ex-angel, was like an all you can eat buffet.

“You promised I’d never have to feed your wives.” Hoel rubbed his chest but his gaze remained glued on me.

  “Pia’s different.”

“Will I be one of her suitors?”

I jerked in Val’s arms. Wait, what?

“It can be up for negotiations.”

  “Good enough.” Hoel slid
his hands around my waist and landed his lips upon mine gentle as a butterfly’s touch.

Sandwiched between them the cold didn’t have any space to reach me. I ran my fingertips along Hoel’s jaw, returning his shy kiss.

Val hugged me from behind, his hands caressing my breasts. “Bring to her climax but don’t go with her,” he instructed Hoel as he’d done with Cooper.

Hoel chuckled against my lips. “I haven’t that much control.”

I could sense the tension in Val’s arms. I wished I could comfort him but it would have to wait until we returned home. That word held so much meaning for me. Home. It no longer meant my parents’ house or the hotel suite but it was wherever Val lived.

Guiding Hoel’s hand between my legs, I showed him the places I liked rubbed.

He took to my instructions like champ. His kisses grew bolder and his breathing heavier. Hoel stroked me with skilled fingers. Tugging and rubbing my clit until I could barely discern his hands from Val’s.

I rocked my hips and gripped Hoel’s muscled shoulders, making sure not to touch where his wings use to be. He’d told me once that the spots still hurt.

The soft waves of his golden hair brushed against my cheeks as he took our kiss deeper. Desperate moans crept from my chest. I was so close to going over the edge. One more tug on my clit and I couldn’t stop the spread of my climax. Not with four hands stroking and caressing my body. I hugged Hoel to me and took over the kiss, plundering his mouth like a dirty girl.

He kept his thumb pressed against my pleasure button and I pumped my hips against him. Oh, and the energy, Val hadn’t been lying. It sparkled like a birthday cake covered in golden sprinkles and tasted of toasted marshmallow. If I dipped Hoel in chocolate first would it add to his flavor? God, I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

Val pulled us apart and whirled me in his arms until we faced one another. Not waiting for me to get my bearings, he leaned on the tree trunk behind him and lifted me until my knees rested on his thighs.

I was a relatively experienced succubus but I had no idea where we were going with this position. “What now?” I gasped out the question.

Hoel rested one hand on my hip and the other over Val’s head, on the tree, and then he guided me back until the head of his cock pressed against my entrance.

“Oh.” I grinned. “I like new things.” Except it didn’t leave much room to maneuver, one wrong slip and I’d land bare butt first in the cold snow. I couldn’t think of much more of a turn off.

Val massaged my ass while guiding me to take Hoel deeper inside my pussy. “You’re the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.” His gaze bore into mine.

A shiver went down my spine.

Hoel thrust inside of me, hard and fast, his chest leaning against my back. Somehow Val supported all our weight and balanced us.

  “Touch me,” Val ordered.

I undid his pants and slipped my hand inside to caress his hard cock.

“Look what you do to me, Pia.”

Hoel grunted by my ear. “Oh fuck.” He pounded harder inside of me. “Shut up, Val.”

My fiancé chuckled. It sounded so light and free, something I hadn’t heard in days, and filled my heart with joy. Val guided Hoel’s hand from my hip and gave me a wink before setting it on his erect cock.

I couldn’t pull my gaze from Hoel’s hand and he stroke Val with the same skill as he fucked me. My hips rocked in time with the motions.

Val flung his head back unable to touch either of us because of our positions.

“I’m so fucking close, Pia.” Hoel pressed his sweaty brow against the back of my neck. “Come.” He almost moaned the last word. The only way Val could feed again was if I orgasmed again and created a surplus of energy with Hoel.

I leaned forward and took Val’s mouth in a kiss before my orgasm rocked me. Crying out, I tightened around Hoel and milked his cock with my climax.

He shouted behind me. It’s echo traveling clear across the park. He thrust once more, the heat of his seed warm inside of me, but he kept stroking Val’s cock without mercy.

My fiancé groaned as the energy I created with Hoel a second time poured from me and fed him. Not much longer he came in heated jets against his stomach.

We all hung there for a moment, leaning against Val and the tree, and caught our breath.

I rested my forehead on Val’s bare chest. The cold slipped in between our bodies now that we remained still and I shivered.

Hoel pulled out of me and helped me back to my feet. He even bent to help me with my panties and jeans.

Val washed off with snow and tucked his bits back in his jeans. The scary glow of seductive powers had faded, and my incubus appeared sane at last.

I hugged my jacket closed. “My car’s parked close by. Let’s go home.”

  Chapter Twenty-One

Hoel drove while Val and I snuggled in the backseat of my car for warmth.

Val buried his face in the crook of my neck, his arms hugging me close so we touched chest to bare chest. “I’m so sorry,” he whispered over and over.

Stroking his hair, I tried to quiet him but he didn’t seem ready to hear me. Being a supernatural creature came with a high price. The hunger was ours and sometimes it got the better of us. I’d been through this just a few years ago. I’m pretty sure every succubus and incubus at one point lost control. The important thing was no one was hurt and in Val’s case, no one knew how close he came to losing it all.

Hoel parked my car in the underground lot of the Roxy hotel and we took the private elevator to our suite. Thank goodness considering our state of undress.

Once on our floor Hoel came to a sudden stop and I bounced off his back.

I had to move to the side and peek around him to get a better view. The door to our suite stood wide open. “Maybe you left it like that when you rushed out?” Apparently Val had escaped from the suite and Hoel had chased him.

“I didn’t lock the door. I was worried if Val returned he wouldn’t be able to enter, but I distinctly remember closing it.”

Val slipped his arm around my waist and kept me from moving forward. “Let me go first.” He pushed me into Hoel’s arms before entering our home. I heard him grunt then shout, “It’s fine to come in.”

Hoel still kept me behind him as we followed.

Our living room furniture had all been pushed against the far wall by the sliding glass doors that led to the balcony. A thick metal chain lay broken in the center of the room. Only then did I notice the metal collar around Val’s throat.

The sofa had been righted and Sin sat facing the door. “The place is a mess, Val. What naughty things have you been doing?” At his feet knelt both Amel and John in demon form, their wings folded neatly behind their backs. His gaze traveled to mine and Hoel’s torn clothes then to the broken chain. “I’m insulted that I wasn’t invited to the party.”

A hysterical giggle escaped me. I clapped my hands over my mouth. I felt like a dishrag that had been rung out too many times. Over the last three days I’d fed four times. My body was telling me to cool the fuck off.

Val crossed his arms as he faced Lake City’s master vampire. “What do you want?”

The vampire grinned at me. He really would have enjoyed tonight. We’d played similar games in the past. If my life hadn’t been at risk, I might have said the whole park scene had been fun. “Amel?” He nudged the demon with his boot. “Do you have something to say to Pia?”

Amel kept his gaze riveted to the floor. “She seems fine. I don’t see any—”

  Sin snapped his fingers.

The demon flinched. “I’m sorry I left your side without your permission, Pia.”

Val tossed me a confused look.

“Sin ordered Amel to protect me, remember? He took off with John and left me alone.” I ran my fingertips over the necklace as my gaze traveled to the other identical demon kneeling by Sin’s feet. “Are you all right, John?”

He glanced up at me, his eyes sad. “I
’ve had better days.”

“Hey, where’s his amulet?” I scowled at Sin. “Don’t tell me you’ve bound him too. That’s greedy even for you.” It was one thing to keep reins on someone nasty like Amel but not my John.

Sin held up his hand with the amulet dangling from it. “Someone’s dear mother paid me to remove this.” He nudged John with his other boot. “What do you have to say to Valerio?”

John’s chest heaved with a sigh. “I’m the one who was stealing your vials but it wasn’t on purpose.” He cringed at Val’s growl. “I didn’t know you and Pia had hooked up.” He explained the reason why he’d done it and for whom then he went silent.

  Sin kicked him again. Hard.

“I didn’t want to deal with Master Zur-Sin so I went to New Harper city instead.” John laid flat on the floor at Val’s feet. “I did what Pia asked. I stopped any future shipments. Nothing will go there anymore.”

Val’s frown grew deeper as he pierced me with a glare. “You knew about this?”

“Yes, and I fixed it. Sort of. That ass in New Harper is going to want John to finish paying him. I thought maybe we could lend him the money.”

“What?” Val glared at the demon at his feet.

John did his best to become one with the floor. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

Amel snarled. “Stop cringing like a coward. You’re mazzikim. At least face your accuser.”

“I wouldn’t talk. You’re next to me on your knees.” John shot back without lifting his head.

“I’m blood bound to this ass. You’re free.” Amel’s shout rattled the window.

A piercing whistle silenced the room. Val removed his fingers from his mouth then set his hands on his hips. “Sin, get out of my home with your pet demon.”

  John rose to his knees.

“No.” Val snapped at him. “You stay right where you are.”

Sin didn’t appear any happier than Val. With unnatural grace, he got to his feet and faced my fiancé. “I came with a peace offering and you kick me out?”
