  “Roy what are you doing here?.”

  “I promised honey,didn’t I?.”he hissed,walking straight,wrapping a clean bandage around his left wrist,his eyes however did not leave Jill for a moment.She was holding the same book in her hand,The Vampire Story.

  “Roy please listen to me.”she gulped.

  “Listen to you,very bad Jill,you should have known one particular thing about me,I don’t like my loved ones lying to me,it just drives me mad.”He was very close to her lips and she was on the bed,her wand was on the ground while her hands were tied together to the edge of the bed.

  “Roy don’t...”she begged.

  I was wide awake and ready to run upstairs when Kim caught me tightly. “Jill said she does not want anyone to disturb her.”I was about to speak and tell her the dream that I had when the door bell rang.

  Sipper answered it and jumped with joy,Rocky was tossing her playfully in his arms.Troy and Chris were right behind her.

  “Where is he?.”Troy asked hastily.

  “Who?.”

  “Roy.”gulped Chris and avoided meeting me in the eye.

  “He escaped from the hospital and his last location has been around this house.Is Jill okay?,he was mad and repeatedly cursed her.”

  “I had this dream,he is in her bedroom....”I was racing the stairs,Chris and Troy were before me,Kim followed and so did Sipper,Rocky was last to enter the room.He was shocked and slipped on the floor.

  Jill was on the bed,her wrist were brutally cut and Roy was the same,he tried extending his hand towards Jill and then looking at Chris he pointed to the book that was still in Jill’s hand.

  “Call the ambulance,Jesus.”cried Troy,hunting for his cell phone.Chris was besides Roy while he tried to say something but he fell unconscious,Sipper was all over Jill and Kim tried to check if she was still alive.

  “Call the ambulance....”she cried.

  Rocky handed his cell phone to Troy and without wasting anytime both of them were taken in the flying vehicle.

  “No friends or relatives please.Get your own transport.”snapped the nurse while she pushed the two of them in the same van.

  “I’ll get the car.”cried Rocky running as fast as he could.

  Within few minutes we were sitting in his van,Chris wanted to speak but I ignored him,I was crying badly and there was no Jill to hold me.Kim was right besides Troy who was driving,she did not let her eyes rest,they were fixed on the ambulance,following it like a hawk.

  Sipper was sobbing badly in Rocky’s chest and he did not mind it at all.Chris wanted to hold me in the same way,but I pushed his hands back.

  It was not hard following the two,Jill and Roy were taken in the operation room and we stood like the rest of the people.Chris stared at his bloody hand and his face was a puzzle,very hard to guess.Was he thirsty?.

  Kim’s uncle dropped in,he was,I don’t know,somehow informed.He stopped in the small corridor,many adjusted to his big body while he walked.

  “How is she?.”

  “How you know?.”

  “Kim...”he glared and she answered quickly, “they are treating them.”

  “How long has it been?.”

  “Twenty minutes forty-six seconds.”replied Chris still watching his blood painted hand.

  “Mixbreed is he?.”asked he,Kim nodded. “He should not be here,it is difficult for him at this phase of his life,tell him politely to leave,seems like still in his senses.”whispered Kim’s uncle.

  “Don’t worry I am good,it is my friend in there,he tried to say something to me,I failed to guess,I’m waiting,I’m waiting.”

  “Any good news?.”asked Kim

  He just ignored her and stared at the boy who was in front of him.His smile was back and he turned to Kim, “Yes and no,many questions have come up on my desk and most of them are Unanswered.”

  Warning

  “Who are you?.”questioned Chris without looking at the big man who was willing to ask him questions in front of us.Kim’s uncle sat in one of the spare hospital room on the same floor,his eyes for some reason were highly amused at the young boy who sat in front of him.I was still in tears and Chris just could not ignore it,he was getting mad minute by minute.

  “My name is William Ritcoin, born to a famous actress Melissa Ritcoin,never had a father and people till date thank my mum for bringing me in this world,Kim here is a darling,she is my wife’s sister’s daughter,snobbish and ill all of them but she I find an exception,has a good upbringing so far,well now I know how.The women who we are seeking has been last seen on the shores of Baltia...”

  We were shocked and he sensed it,Chris’s head shot up instantly,it was the forbidden territory,once open,its gates remained shut after something terrible happened there.William,Kim’s uncle removed an handkerchief from his pocket, while he wiped Chris’s bloody hand he kept a firm eye contact with him,to everyone’s surprise,Chris too did not blink,he glared in response.

  “We found a body,it was your newly appointed music teacher I’m afraid.”

  We were doomed,one single drop of tear escaped Chris’s eye and Kim’s uncle instantly broke his eye contact with him,allowing space I guess.

  “My sister?.”I cried,Kim stared at him angrily.

  “We did not find any body of a witch.”he waited measuring each of our expressions,I wanted to bombard him but something within me stopped,he added hastily, “I’m afraid you won’t be able to see her ever in your life again.”

  “No...”Kim tried but before she could continue her uncle fired in an annoyed tone.

  “You don’t have the slightest idea who are you dealing with.”

  “Then tell us.”demanded Sipper while Rocky tried in vain to pull her back.

  He was breathing as though something was killing him within.

  “What is it?.”asked Kim.

  “Those gates were open once,the true story about Baltia was never made public to anyone.Its believed till date it is a home for the most heinous creature of all the time,he was cursed to keep everything in peace but now we come to know...” he was wiping his forehead, “What?.” I cried.

  “He is come back to life.We found traces of him the day your sister was born.He has a connection with her.Mr Bodwin was nothing but a product of ancient magic,such a man did not live or was born,he was only a shell.Its a dark sorcery,he has unfinished business with her,she has been taken back.When you lost your parents,she was found there,recently something did finish his patience,he has her and I don’t know why.”

  There was something that he was hiding,he was not giving us answers but had complicated things more than ever.

  “I want my sister back.”I fumed, “You are not being honest with us.”

  “Trust me you don’t want to know.”he added gravely.

  “She is not somebody who we can forget or afford to loose.”snapped Kim stopping Sipper just in time with her left hand.

  “She is not going to come back,he won’t allow her to come back.”

  “Who is he?.”I shouted.

  Troy stepped forward and so did Rocky,Chris glared at him. “I need more time before I can get you extra evidence.Its far complicated than I ever thought.Be careful,they were attacked for a reason I’m afraid.”he was leaving.

  “When are you going to tell us more about her...”

  “I need one more week.”his voice came from a distance,he was talking without turning back.

  “Don’t you think it is way late.”

  “I wish we are not that late.” he turned and for the first time his face was sorrowful.

  “I don’t buy anything that he said.”Chris was mad,naturally,how could I miss,his favorite teacher was dead and his friend was hurting inside,things were far worst for him.

  The doctor came out he had a faint smile on his lips. “They will be okay,should be up within couple of minutes.I think you all should be careful.”he added and waved at a girl who left quickly,she was with Kim’s uncle,how could I forget her,Ms Freeshe.

  “What was
it?.”demanded Kim.

  He stopped just in time and turned reluctantly, “They have been attacked,its not a healthy sign,Jill was being cursed and the boy,um..Roy he was being forced to change,who ever it was they did not succeed or I think changed their mind at last minute,some thing tells me whatever or whoever it was,he or she is not good,I have never seen anything so neatly done,rare magic this one.”he gulped and walked “Her skin is healing and there is one more thing you should know,I found your sisters traces all over her skin,she was there when Jill was attacked.Your friend,the boy was a moron,he had a chance to do right things but he missed.Be careful,value your life,its good to have courage and facts at hand before jumping to conclusions.”

  One last look at us while he turned to his office showed us that he too was hiding something very important from us.

  With Jill down I was so helpless,Ruth too was not at my side,Kim stood straight,she was a female like this,not willing to give up.Sipper was by my side crying,I could do the same and I did.

  People came and went,Chris watched me silently,his eyes did not leave me for a minute and I knew exactly why.

  Everybody who we had turned to help and facts were hiding something,something which I guess was obvious to the mixbreeds.The coffee cup in my hand was burning, likewise was my heart,I was regretting spending time with him,those were my most beautiful nights.

  Because of him Mr Bodwin entered in our life and home,he took Ruth away from us,my sister was surely in pain and here I was not able to connect with her.He tried again to talk with me but I ignored him,Kim was by my side and Rocky sat on the floor next to Sipper,his hand was over her lap,he too was guarding his girl and Troy was no different,he allowed Kim space but his one eye was always on her.

  I did not know when I slept but when I opened my eyes it was the worst dream I ever had,my voice was stuck in my throat,Kim was aware and she knew what I was capable of,I think she did figure it out,for me it was a Warning.

  Cursed lover

  Sipper was holding my hands,after few minutes she saw what I had witnessed,it was easy for her to show the rest of them.All of them had their eyes closed,each one of them were able to see what I had seen,Ruth was only ten years old,she was walking in the garden with the rest of the children,my mother was keeping an eye on her,I was a toddler then,swinging in her arms,one of her friends came in and she was relaxed,talking the general routine of her life,she missed to keep an eye on Ruth,she had slipped inside a cave following a strange boy who was not older than her.

  “Hey,I said I’m sorry.I didn’t mean to be rude.”she shouted running after him.

  “Stop following me.”he said without turning to her.

  “Why?.”

  “Go away.”

  “You should not be here.Its not good place.Where is your mom?.”

  “I have nobody.”

  “Really?.”

  “Yes.”

  “I’m sorry.Is there anything that I can do for you?.”

  He turned,his eyes were wild and sharp,Ruth felt an intense feeling,which was filled with sorrow and horror.For some reason she was scared of him,while he progressed towards her,she backed away.

  “You scared?.”

  “A little.”

  “You can go,nobody knows that I even exist.”

  She was walking away when he turned back and was moving more inside the cave,his face was angry for some reason,I wanted to scream when Ruth stopped.

  She turned and a devious smile automatically curved his lips,he did not stop till she called him.

  “Friends.”she laughed extending her hands.

  “Think again,once friends you won’t be able to run away from me.”

  “Its okay,I’ll manage.”

  He shook hands with her and she smiled,his smile was a pain mixed in mystery.My mother was now aware that Ruth was missing,she shouted and Ruth answered her quickly, “over here.I found someone.”

  Mom and her friend came to her while Ruth raced to them. “Oh darling I told you not to wander alone.”

  “Mom,he was just here.”she tried, “There is no one here Ruth,Meg you should warn your daughter,its not safe to have words with strangers,this place....”she stopped not at all comfortable discussing the same.

  “What about this place?.”asked my mom holding Ruth close to her,her timid eyes were still searching the boy in distance but she did not find him.

  His eyes followed her and so did he but every time Ruth turned,he was not there,I could see him,he was just walking behind her.

  My mother shut the door and placed me in my bed.Her hands ruffled Ruth’s hair and she told her to paint and draw as well as keep an eye on me.I was small but my eyes were fixed on her and I saw him again,he was there,behind her,trying to touch her head.When she looked up,there was nobody,I started crying and Ruth tried to comfort me,I could still see him in distance,standing close to the door,his eyes watched Ruth as though he was hungry and mad.I couldn’t stop crying and my mother did not come out,she was still talking with her friend from the park.

  “What’s wrong Aagi?.”tried Ruth pulling me up in her arms,she was so sweet and beautiful,her lips were red and skin was pure white.I stared at her,my little fingers were stuck down her chin,trying to make her face move to the direction where I wanted her to see him,he was still there,growling madly and wildly as the minutes ticked by,his unhealthy eyes were still fixed on Ruth.

  “Mom,Aagi won’t stop crying.”she called passing right through him.I was shocked and silent,my eyes watched him,while he smiled softly.

  When she came inside the room,my mother held her more tightly,her eyes were scared and mad, “Ruth baby...”she cried.

  “What happened mom?.”

  “Promise me that you will never go to that place again.Promise.”

  “Alright.”

  She squeezed her in her arms,so tightly,I was still in between them.It felt good but my tiny eyes could not miss him,he was pacing outside the room,furiously,he was mad,waiting,his eyes looked at us while he paced.I started crying again and Ruth tried to distract me,she danced,he was more annoyed than ever,his hands pushed her down,she was on the floor and her head was bleeding.

  “What did the doctor say?.”

  “Angela,I don’t know..”

  “What are you talking Meg?.”

  “The day she fell,it was fine but after that she keeps meeting with accidents and looses immense amount of blood.I really don’t know.I don’t want to loose her.”

  I was in her arms and could see the boy laughing,he was happy,his eyes watched me while he slipped inside Ruth’s room.

  “Mom...”Ruth shouted.

  My mother did not miss her loud painful cry,she took me along with her,her friend,Angela too followed.

  Ruth was on the ground in a pool of blood,unconscious.

  “Oh my god,oh my god,Ruth,Ruth baby...”she cried in pain.

  Angela was quick and she called an ambulance.Ruth was taken to the hospital,I saw him sitting right on top of her,while she was taken in the operation room.His smile was cunning and dirty,hiding his next deadly move.

  We waited outside,like we were suppose to be,the doctor did give us a good news but also a bad one.

  “Your daughter is cursed,she won’t live long.”

  I could see my mother crying her heart out,holding me close to her body,we could see Ruth being taken away from us.Angela was still by my mother’s side,she was not crying,she watched Ruth and for some reason I was sure she could see the boy walking by her side too.

  He climbed the walls and was mocking us,especially Angela,she was scared but I was not,I wanted to bite him,to kill him,he was hurting my sister,a sister who was so lovely in skin and heart.

  “Hey sweetheart,how are you Aagi?.”she smiled,her lips were torn,eyes were dull and skin was pale white,her cold touch was not welcoming but she had the same smile,I jumped in her arms and for the first time she found difficult handling me,she couldn’t lift me up.I still
remember the pain that crossed her innocent face when her hands failed to hold me.

  “Its alright honey,you need to take rest and pull yourself first.”Angela was by her side.She did not leave us alone after that,and it is then I realized why?,she was my father’s sister,my very close aunt.

  My dad and her husband were partners into which business I did not know,she had no child of her own but I guess she did adopt a boy child and was planning to adopt a girl child too,but when Ruth came in our life,she did not wish for any one,that’s what my mom says and I know she is telling the truth.

  I clearly remember,I was in her arms but she laughed more often with Ruth,I did not mind it at all,it was nice to see Ruth laughing,he did not like it,he was still sitting outside our window,watching Ruth with pure disgust.The look in his eyes were scary,he wanted to see her cry but something stopped him from going near Ruth,he couldn’t come close to any of us.I was happy,could see his cold face turning black.

  I laughed with Ruth more loudly than required,holding her index finger as tightly as possible,making him aware that she was loved and wanted,there was no way he would be hurting her anymore.

  Aunt Angela’s hand brushed my head,for some reason I felt more strong,holding Ruth very close to my body.There was one thing which still did not change and that was the way she smelled,her scent was still untouched and free from any evil,she smelled like sweet lilies.

  It was nice to hear her heart beat,slow but it was still there. “Oh my god,you surely love your sister,isn’t it?.”laughed my mom pulling me up in her arms,away from Ruth.I did not like it but I couldn’t voice the same,I was still a toddler to them who could not speak anything and whatever sounds I made it was just gibberish.

  If they could understand,I would had said first,look at the boy who is trying to kill Ruth.But I just couldn’t speak at that time.My mother was feeding me,whereas Ruth was being helped by my aunt.She loved her so much,it was impossible to ignore the love that I seen in her eyes for Ruth.

  My mother smiled she was used to this,Ruth was more attached to her aunt by now and she was safe.This alone made her happy.Each one of us were happy,well Ruth was showing signs of improvement,we were quite late that evening,I knew why,my father and uncle were showing today,late as usual but we had planned a surprise for them.I was waiting with them,wide awake,not allowing my mother to make me sleep.
