Chapter Fifteen

Jenna and Kris arrived to find Susie already waiting for them at the restaurant. Susie stood wearing a tight and short sexy black dress that accentuated her breasts and curves. Kris couldn’t help but notice her breasts. She hadn’t noticed earlier in the day, but she wondered if she had gotten breast implants since college. Susie gave Kris a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Susie’s breasts and sexy dress didn’t escape Jenna’s attention either, and she didn't like what she saw. It wasn’t the image she had hoped to see. Dinner was going to be more unbearable than she thought.

“Jenna, this is Susie. Don’t believe anything she tells you about me.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Jenna. Kris talked nonstop about you today.”

“Nice to meet you, Susie. Tell me all the embarrassing things about Kris that she doesn’t want me to know.”

“Don’t worry about that. I’ll give you all the details.”

Susie pulled out the seat next to hers and motioned for Kris to sit down, leaving Jenna forced to stare across the table at the two ex-lovers.

Jenna began to feel like a third wheel watching the two of them fall back into their comfortable pattern. She had been the one to ask Kris to come with her to Boston, but she felt like she was the odd one at the table. She tried to contribute to the conversation, but she couldn’t compete with the history and the chemistry they shared.

She watched Susie waste no time moving in on Kris. Susie put her arm around the back of her chair and caressed her neck and shoulders. There was no mistaking the amount of flirting going on back and forth between the two. Jenna’s blood boiled as her undeniable jealousy set in. She dug her nails into the napkin in her lap as Susie used her fork to feed Kris bites from her plate. She felt anger, fear, frustration, and she felt sick to her stomach. It was the first time she had experienced this level of intense jealousy before, but the worst part was watching Kris flirt back.

Kris enjoyed the attention Susie gave her. For years after they had broken up she longed for her touch. Now, sitting at the table with them both, she was still torn between the feelings she had in the past for Susie and the feelings she had for Jenna. She watched Jenna for some sort of clue or hint of jealousy, but she seemed calm and collected. She decided at that moment to let herself be free with Susie because she was a sure thing. She knew Susie wanted her and that was something she couldn’t guarantee with Jenna. If she pushed Susie away, she may lose her forever. Jenna was only a friend at this point anyway.

Susie shared some of their stories with Jenna. She kept an eye on Jenna. She found herself attracted to Jenna also. She couldn’t blame Kris for falling for such a beautiful and sexy woman. She would love to set up a threesome and put herself in the middle of these two hot women.

Being a lawyer, Susie was more adept at reading body language than Kris was. Whenever she’d touch Kris or speak about the past they shared, she could see the reaction it had on Jenna. It was subtle, but the muscles around Jenna’s eyes tightened. Sometimes her lips shifted ever so slightly, as she bit her tongue to hold back her frustration. There was no denying Jenna had feelings for Kris, but as long as Kris was clueless about them, she still had a chance.

They stood on the sidewalk outside the restaurant after dinner. Susie put her arm around Kris, and Kris leaned into her.

“We should take Jenna to the club,” Susie said.

  “It’s still around?” Kris asked.

“Yes, it is. It’s under new management now, but it’s basically the same.”

“Let’s go then. Jenna, you’re going to love it. I promise.”

A club was the last place Jenna wanted to go right now. She already had a tension headache that was on the brink of becoming a migraine.

Jenna shook her head. “I’ve had a long day. I think I’ll go back to the hotel, but you two should go.”

Kris grabbed her hand. “You have to come. If you don’t like it, then you can leave. You can’t leave Boston without experiencing what used to be my favorite hangout. Please, will you come with us?”

“Okay, but I can’t promise anything. I don’t want to ruin your evening of reminiscing.”

Susie hailed a cab, and they piled into the backseat. Still caught up in her threesome fantasy from dinner, Susie made sure to wedge herself in the middle between Jenna and Kris. Riding over the bumpy streets with two gorgeous bodies pressed against hers only added fuel to her burning desire.

Jenna turned her head and stared out the filthy cab window while Susie and Kris continued their conversation. Their relationship picked up where it had left off years ago. The cab stopped at a traffic light underneath a street lamp, and Jenna glanced down to see Susie’s hand resting on top of Kris's thigh. She looked away reminding herself they were friends that just happened to be ex-lovers.

Upon arriving at the club, it didn’t take long for Jenna to figure out she was experiencing her first lesbian club. They forced her to endure a dinner with them, and now they tricked her into watching them bump and grind all night. She smiled at the two of them and made her way to the bar while they headed towards the dance floor.

She was too busy drowning her sorrows with drinks, watching Susie and Kris practically having sex with their clothes on, to notice all the attention she was getting. All the single women at the bar were checking her out and she was oblivious to it.

A woman at the opposite end of the bar caught her attention. The woman stood up to make her way towards Jenna, but another woman just a few bar stools down from her cut her off. Oh, no, what have I gotten myself into now? She took a long hard swig of her drink to muster up the courage she needed. She stood up and without saying a word grabbed the stranger walking towards her, pulling the woman out to the dance floor.

She wasn’t going to let Susie ruin her last night in town even if it meant she had to step out of her comfort zone. She had lost sight of Susie and Kris, and she didn’t care. She let the rhythm take control and enjoyed the music. Her dancing partner couldn’t compare to Kris, but she looked pretty good at the moment.

At first, she felt a little uncomfortable dancing with a stranger in a lesbian club, but halfway through the first song any awkwardness she had felt was long gone. She found herself bumping and grinding with her new piece of eye candy and it felt good. She allowed herself to be free and enjoy the company of the gorgeous woman who was still nameless.

Kris returned from the bathroom and spotted Jenna dancing with the woman. Jealousy and sadness rose within her. Was Jenna attracted to women after all, just not her? Why wasn’t she the one rubbing up against her on the dance floor? How could Jenna be so comfortable and let loose with a complete stranger when she had been right in front of her obsessing over her for months? Anger took over, pushing her other feelings to the side.

Kris spotted Susie at the bar watching Jenna dance. Hell, it seemed Jenna had everyone in the club hot and bothered. Kris snatched the drink from Susie’s hand and finished it off before slamming it back down on the bar. Not only did she have to watch Jenna dancing with someone else, but her ex-lover wanted a piece of Jenna too.

Jenna spotted Susie and Kris at the bar watching her. For the first time that night, she was the center of their attention instead of the other way around. She loved the thrill of someone wanting her for a change. She danced another two songs before she and her grinding partner returned to the bar.

Kris turned to face Jenna. Her anger faded a little when she saw the sweat beading and rolling down Jenna’s face. Even all hot and sweaty, Jenna looked seductive and irresistible. She wanted to take her back to their hotel room right then and have her way with her.

“So, are you going to introduce me to your new friend?” Kris asked.

Jenna turned to the woman she had spent the last thirty minutes dancing with. “I really enjoyed dancing with you. My name is Jenna, by the way. What’s your name?”

“Nice to meet you, Jenna, I’m Veronica.”

  Kris nodded at V
eronica and spun around to find Susie making her way towards Jenna. She knew Susie was going to ask Jenna to dance.

Jenna caught a glimpse of Kris, and she gripped Kris's hand. “Let’s dance.” She pulled her out onto the dance floor. She’d rather deal with Kris than Susie right now. To her surprise, instead of the upbeat club music they had been playing all night, a slow song started and they dimmed the lights. Some women made their way to the exit, but a few stayed and began slow dancing.

Kris laughed and clapped her hands. “I had forgotten about this part. The last song of the night is a slow dance before closing.” She looked around. “We can leave now if you want.”

Instead of making her way to the door, Jenna put her arm around Kris's waist and drew her close. They were cheek to cheek, chest to chest. She was close enough to feel Kris’s heartbeat. She hated the way the night had turned out, but she was thankful to have this alone time with Kris right now all to herself. She put both arms around Kris's waist, and Kris wrapped her arms around her tight.

Kris melted into Jenna’s arms and begged the song to never end. This was the first time they had shared any real close physical contact, and she was savoring every second of it. She rested her head against Jenna’s shoulder, feeling Jenna’s breath against the back of her neck. Today had been full of surprises, but she was ready to get back home and get on with her life. She lifted her head and their lips almost touched, but the song ended and the harsh, bright lights returned.

Jenna let go of Kris. “I guess it’s time to leave.”

They met up with Susie chatting with Veronica at the bar. Jenna bypassed Susie. “It was nice meeting you, Veronica.”

Veronica stood up and gave Jenna a hug and a soft kiss on the lips. “Give me a call, and we can do this again.” She placed a piece of paper in Jenna’s hand with her phone number on it.

Jenna looked down at the paper in her hand and smiled. At least Veronica turned what had been an agonizing experience into an enjoyable one for her.

Jenna, Kris, and Susie shared a cab back to the hotel. Jenna waited for Kris on the curb to let Kris and Susie say goodbye in private. Kris got out of the cab followed by Susie. Jenna watched the two of them exchange hugs. As Kris turned to walk away, Susie grabbed her and gave her a passionate kiss. Kris didn’t resist, and Jenna’s stomach churned.

Jenna started walking towards the hotel door, but Kris ran up behind her. “Susie and I are going to catch up some more. Don’t wait up. See you later.”

With that, Kris turned and ran back to Susie’s waiting arms.

Jenna was furious. They were driving back tomorrow. She was moving into her new house in a few days, and she wanted to move on with her life with Kris. Now, it seemed like she may have waited too long. From the looks of it, Kris was moving on without her.

Jenna changed out of her clothes and collapsed on the bed lying on top of the covers. She needed to rest up for their drive back tomorrow. Her mind raced, but she was so exhausted that her body won the battle and she fell asleep.

  ***

Susie took Kris back to her place to pick things up where they left off years ago. As soon as Susie closed the door to her condo, she pushed Kris up against the back of the door. She kissed Kris deep with unconfined passion, pressing her body against Kris's.

Kris gave into Susie, running her fingers through Susie’s hair. It felt so good to have someone who wanted her again. She had plenty of friends, she needed a lover in her life. Still, she questioned in the back of her mind where she expected this relationship to go. She didn’t want to move, and Susie wasn’t going to move. She wasn’t a one-night stand kind of woman, even if it was with an ex she’d already slept with in the past.

Kris tried to relax and just go with it. Susie slid her hands underneath her shirt. She shut her eyes and pressed her lips against Susie’s neck. She worked her way up to Susie’s awaiting mouth and thrust her tongue between her lips. She arched her body as Susie tugged at her panties beneath her skirt. She thought about Jenna. She imagined it was Jenna kissing her. She imagined it was Jenna’s hands stroking and caressing her. Thinking of Jenna sent her into overdrive.

Kris slid the zipper down that ran down the back of Susie’s dress. She unbuttoned her blouse while Susie worked her way out of the dress. She unfastened her skirt and let it fall to the floor.

Susie pulled Kris into the bedroom. Kris wanted to stop, but she was enjoying it too much. She felt desired. She pushed Susie down on the bed. Susie’s body was gorgeous. She straddled Susie and pinned her arms down to the bed. Spurred by the sensation of Susie's silk panties grinding against her pelvis, she explored Susie's mouth with her tongue. It had been a long time since a woman’s body moved beneath her. She slid her thigh between Susie’s legs and pressed it firm against her.

Susie moaned into her ear and arched her back to increase the friction of her clitoris against her thigh. She broke free from her grip and flipped Kris over onto the bed. She kissed Kris's neck and ran her hand up Kris's thigh and over the top of her panties.

“What do you want me to do first?” Susie whispered before biting Kris's lower lip.

Kris didn’t answer, so Susie slid her fingers underneath the waistband of her panties, but Kris stopped her. It felt good, but if she was thinking about Jenna while having sex with Susie, then she was betraying Jenna and Susie both. The only one gaining anything from this was herself. She could continue and have one of the best nights of sex in her life, or she could stop and possibly spend the rest of her life with the woman she was fantasizing about. Either way, Kris felt like this was wrong.

Kris broke away from Susie. “I’m sorry. I just can’t do this.” She got dressed in a hurry and left leaving Susie speechless.

The hotel wasn’t that far away so Kris decided to walk. There were plenty of people out and about so it was safe. She didn’t know how Jenna would react when she saw her. She worried about what Jenna would think about her now, especially after the way she treated her earlier. She was terrified that if there were any chance in hell Jenna was interested in her before, she might have just caused more damage in one night than could ever be repaired.

She had made Jenna feel like a third wheel all night. Even if they were just friends, Jenna deserved better treatment than that. Jenna had invited her to Boston to spend time with her, not so she could hook up with an ex.

She opened the door to the hotel room and tried not to wake Jenna. The lights were off. Jenna hadn’t waited for her. She shut the door behind her while her eyes adjusted to the darkness. She could make out Jenna lying on top of the bed above the covers wearing another pair of short sexy sleep shorts and a tank top.

She grabbed an extra blanket from the closet and draped it across her. Then, she slid out of her shoes and crawled into bed beside her. She just wanted this night to end.

  Chapter Sixteen

Jenna awakened the next morning to the sound of the shower. She wasn’t sure what time Kris came back, whether it was last night or this morning. She pulled the cover over her head. Her back was stiff, either from sleeping in a weird position or from dancing at the club.

She stood up and stretched before walking over to the bathroom door. She was having a hard time trying to process her thoughts about what happened the night before and the way Kris acted. She leaned her forehead against the door and shut her eyes. She needed to compose herself because she had to drive back with Kris.

Jenna pulled her hair back into a ponytail and changed into her running clothes. A run would help clear her mind and get the kinks out of her back and neck muscles.

Kris peeked out from the bathroom to find Jenna missing. All the suitcases were still there, so at least she knew Jenna hadn’t left without her. She dreaded checking her phone for a good reason. She had silenced it before going to bed because she knew Susie would call, and she was right. She had a couple of text messages and over a dozen missed calls from Susie. She’d deal with Susie later after returning home.
<
br />   She fired off a quick email to Allie giving her an update about what happened and told her not to call. She would call her when she got back. She didn’t want to answer any questions or explain anything in front of Jenna. She at least owed Jenna that much respect. She had just sent an email to Erin asking about Jax when the hotel door swung open.

Jenna had her hands full with two cups of coffee and a bag of bagels. Kris stood up to take the tray of coffee Jenna was balancing in one hand while holding the bagels and key card in the other.

“Did you have a nice run?” Kris asked.

Jenna sat the bag down on the small table near the window. “It was okay, a little frustrating with all the short blocks and crowded sidewalks.” Jenna kicked her running shoes off. “I hope you haven’t eaten breakfast yet. I stopped for coffee and bagels on the way back from my morning run.”

Kris was relieved. Not only was Jenna talking to her, but she brought back breakfast for her too. “Thanks. I was just catching up on emails.” She sat down at the table.

Jenna sat down across from Kris. The table was so small their knees touched underneath it. Jenna didn’t say anything. She picked at her bagel breaking off small pieces and chewing slow. Afraid Kris would see the hurt in her eyes, she avoided eye contact.

Kris took a few sips of her coffee trying to figure out the right words to say. The silence was awkward. “I came back about forty-five minutes after leaving with Susie, but you were already asleep.” She paused waiting for a response from Jenna, but there was none. Kris swallowed hard and continued. “I just wanted you to know —”

Jenna interrupted her. “Before you say anything else,” she looked up at Kris, “whatever happened last night isn’t any of my business.” She held up her hand to cut Kris off from saying anything further. “What is my business is being made to feel like I was invisible. I understand you wanted to catch up or whatever you want to call it, but you shouldn’t have ambushed me into dinner and going to a lesbian club if you already had intentions of rekindling a romance with your ex. I agreed to go to dinner with the two of you because I thought you were friends, but instead I felt like a third wheel tagging along on a date.”
