  “Well don’t worry about it, child. Remember, we were all young at one point, and if you two are meant to know one another, then time will tell. Seeking him out isn’t going to get you anything, but rather it’s going to just make things harder on you,” she said to Leia.

  Her boss did have a point. It’s not like she could go look for him or anything anyways.

  “You’re right. But what about this feeling that I have?” she asked her.

  “Think about the good times the two of you will have when he gets back. If your friendship is meant to be, you will make everything work out in the end. That I’m sure of,” she told Leia.

  As much as Leia wanted to fight this, the woman had a point. It was obvious that she would just have to wait for the right moment, the moment where she can tell Jude her feelings, and they can finally express themselves.

  “Thank you,” she said

  “Good luck,” her boss replied.

  Leia walked out, thanking herself for coming clean with her boss to a degree. It had been bothering her a lot recently, and she felt like it was best if she told someone about it. It was definitely going to be harder to cope with the feelings over time, but she only wanted to focus on the good in life, and not the bad.

  When she got back to her place though, there was a figure standing at the doorway. He was dressed in all back, but it seemed that he had a couple of bandages on his body as well. She immediately parked the car, taking a moment to pinch herself. Was it really him? Was she dreaming?

  The only thing that she did know was that she needed to speak with this man. Without any second thoughts, she raced out of the car and over to the doorway, looking at Jude. He was there a bit battered and bruised, but he had a smile on his face, one that she missed.

  “You’re alive,” she said.

  “That I am. I managed to get out of there with just a few injuries, but yes, it’s done. I’m sorry,” he said.

  “It’s fine. I’m just so fucking glad that you’re alive. Let’s head on in. If you’re still injured, I can take care of you. It’s my turn to help,” she said.

  Jude nodded in appreciation, and soon the two of them were inside. They headed to her couch, and she placed Jude there, looking at him with a weak smile. She then went to get her first aid kit, making sure that she had extra bandages. When she got there, she started to clean up a few of the bruises that she saw on his body.

  “So what happened? I mean, it did take a while, but I’m happy that you took him down,” she said.

  “Yeah. Ivar was his name. He was a total bastard. I had to find him first off, and after we parted ways it proved to be a lot harder than I expected. However, I learned of his hideout, but then I realized that it was guarded by a lot of people, and I had to be stealthy about getting to him. I then had to undergo a secret mission to eliminate Ivar and make sure that he never caused trouble again. That mission was done last night, and it took me about twelve hours to get out of there. I managed to infiltrate the base, and soon I was able to beat Ivar. I had a lot of worry that I wouldn’t make it out alive, but then, I remembered you, and I knew that I needed to make sure that I kept myself alive, at least for you,” he said.

  She felt an overwhelming sense of pride as she thought about this.

  “Well thank you. I’m glad that you’re safe,” she said.

  “You and me both. I did get a few gunshot wounds, but I was able to sustain the damage and get out. That’s why I have the bandages. The bullets have been removed and the wounds clean, but I do need to change the bands every so often,” Jude explained.

  Leia nodded, doing just that. He did hiss in pain a little bit at the feeling of the wound, but she knew that she needed to do this. Once that was done though, Jude sat back, sighing.

  “So yeah. I eliminated Ivar, took the base down, and completed my mission. I got paid well, the amount of money agreed to and then some. He did ask me about another job, which was where I had to give him the truth,” Jude explained.

  “Oh no. What happened with that?” Leia asked.

  “He was upset, but he understood. He wished me the best, and then I went to the bike shop. I got a more normal job now, but I still am considered a bad boy piece of scum by society, so I don’t know what to think,” he said.

  “You should be happy. You got rid of a bad person and managed to get out with few injuries,” she said.

  “I know that, but I’m still shocked that I managed to do such a thing. It was still shocking in a sense, but I didn’t know what to do afterwards. I knew that I had to see you though,” he said.

  “Same. I knew that I had to see you soon too. That’s why I was happy to see you when you got back,” she told him.

  “I was as well. There was a reason for that though, a bigger reason than what you have,” he told her.

  “What was it?” she asked Jude.

  He then moved closer, gazing upon her and smiling.

  “You’re the first person I’ve ever made who has made me think about someone other than myself and the mission. I never warmed up to anyone, and I thought that one-night stand was just going to pan out into nothing. But then, we found one another. As much as I don’t think fate is real, I feel like something was telling us deep down that we had to be together. I know that fate is very hit or miss in life, but I believe that it was meant to be for us,” he said.

  Leia smiled, knowing that it was the right thing to hear.

  “That makes two of us then,” she replied.

  “Good. Because I love you Leia. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s the truth. It’s the real, honest truth that I’ve told myself for a long time, that I’ve wanted to express to you since we reconnected and learned about one another. I’m glad I did what I needed to do, because now I can be safe and sound with you by my side,” he said.

  She looked at him, realizing that this was it, that this was the life that she wanted to have. All of a sudden, the two of them moved closer to one another, glancing at each other with expressive eyes. She stared at Jude, the dark-haired beauty that she fell for. She couldn’t believe it, but this was the first time ever she had felt something so strongly for a person, and she didn’t feel ashamed for it.

  “I think I love you,” she admitted.

  “I think I love you too. I promise I’ll never let you go again,” he replied.

  They stared at one another for a moment or so, with Leia trying her best to figure how to articulate her thoughts. Finally, she sighed and said what she needed to say.

  “Are you going to leave me again? Because I’m afraid that something might come up, some other bad thing,” she said.

  He looked at her, but he shook his head.

  “Not anymore. I left that life, because I realized that the perfect person for me is right here. You waited for me when I was gone, and you were there for me when things were bad. I love you for that, and I don’t want to leave you ever again,” he admitted.

  She looked at him, nodding in agreement.

  “Same here. I love you Jude.”

  “I love you too Leia.”

  The two of them kissed each other once again in a tender and passionate manner before they fell back into the bed, holding each other in their arms. It was amazing to realize this, because she knew for sure that they would be together forever. That’s what happened, and she was excited about that.

  Jude now had a normal job working on bikes, even though some did look at him with disgust. They moved in together and Jude helped Leia while she was in school. They grew closer to one another, and soon their love overflowed in
ways neither of them had experienced before. Leia was happy she had found her bad boy, and it proved to her immediately that sometimes the right person for you can be right in front of your face.

  “I thought I asked you to plant those last week.”

  Aiden felt his eyebrows shoot up. Patrick Gilmore’s voice had remained respectful, but it had also been very firm. The staccato stab of the high heels stopped.

  “Maybe I’ll find a gardener who can,” Savannah Cross snapped.

  “That’s up to you, ma’am.” The low voice was still respectful. “But the most you’ll find is a gardener willing to give you a bed of dead flowers.”

  A long silence stretched out. Aiden bit his lower lip as a sudden desire to laugh rose in his throat.

  “Fine,” his mother said, biting off the word. “Then get something else in that bed. Right now!” She walked away, sighing loudly as if she’d wasted her time.
