Quentin lay on his back and slid underneath her when she straddled him. He aligned the crown of his sheathed dick to her cunt and pushed. His gasp was dark and hot, eyes almost coal-black and raging with lust. They hypnotized her, left her paralyzed by him as he inched deeper into her.
“Damn, I won’t last. You feel too tight and good,” he rasped.
Kendall reached behind her and glided her hand over René’s face, enjoying the fuzzy scraping on her palm from his facial hair. She felt the corners of his lips gather up into a heartfelt smile and it moved every meaningful place inside her when he kissed her fingertips.
She ran her hands over the dark ridges of Quentin’s sculpted muscles, hoping she managed to give them equal attention and still got a chance to enjoy herself. She’d hate for anyone to feel left out or to feel too clinical and stressed about giving them pleasure to fully compute any for herself.
Justin rested on his knees with one arm lying over the other and his chin on the bed. “Oh my god, that’s so hot!”
She let out a breathy laugh. “Up close and personal.”
“Heck yes, Quentin loves this.”
Quentin frowned. “If you were my submissive, I would spank you for defiance.”
“Too bad I’m not,” Justin sassed. “Now you have to deal with it.”
“I don’t mind,” she said.
“See?” Justin agreed.
“Fine,” Quentin said.
“Just relax and enjoy yourself,” René murmured softly against her skin, finishing his sentence with a doting kiss behind her ear.
She shivered and steadied herself when they began to move inside her. René’s strokes were long and deep, but he was ginger about the pace to keep from hurting her.
Quentin groaned in pleasurable torment as he pistoned into her without a second thought. The way he stretched and filled her entirely as he plunged in and out of her would have utterly demanded her attention. Having another dick stuffed in her ass and cramming both orifices even tighter against each other pushed her to heights of delirium.
She wanted to escape the tremendous pressure bearing down on her G-spot, yet at the same time she craved the inevitable climax she sensed was coming. Somehow, René’s erection stimulated her hot spot even though he was screwing into her ass.
The orgasm was intense when it came. She saw colors behind her eyes shooting off like fireworks against a blackened night sky. Clutching their rigid cocks fiercely with her uncontrollable spasms snagged boisterous screams from her.
No sooner had that explosion ended and a softer, equally detrimental finale enveloped her, this one gentler in nature. Sultry ribbons of ecstasy rippled through her in recurrent waves of hot electricity. A vaginal orgasm after having just had one would have been overpowering enough, but Quentin’s shaft grazed her clit in just the right place at exactly the right moment and set her off. Tiny sparks fired on the fleshy nubbin like a piston and strengthened the severity of her formerly soft climax. This duo of pleasure was a mind-altering combination of soft and hard, enduring and fast as it swept her body up in flames that devoured her from the inside out.
René and Quentin let out strained grunts and bellowed with forceful jabs deep inside her. The slight edge of pain through her storm of rapture heightened her gratification to a level that shocked her. They came almost in unison.
Quentin’s hands on her breasts made her sob in blissful agony, and René’s breath on her skin and the loving way he cuddled her melted her heart.
“Well, cher, what did you think?” he asked.
She smiled through her panting. “I can’t think yet. Give me a minute.”
“I loved it.” Justin jumped up. “Thanks, guys. Freakin’ Charlie wouldn’t let me see or do this kind of thing. Please don’t tell him.”
René cleared his throat, but Justin didn’t get it.
Kendall shoved the pain aside and reveled in the sexual utopia they’d treated her to. “Thank you for that. It was amazing, the perfect way to say good-bye.”
“It was,” René said quietly.
Quentin became serious, bothered almost while speaking to Justin. “Charlie didn’t want you to have a four-way?”
“Nope, and I watched one anyway. Next time, I’ll actually do it with you guys.” Justin tittered. “Not with you guys, with the lady, and you guys will be there.”
“You should have mentioned this before,” Quentin said solemnly.
Justin gave a gorilla smack to his own chest. “I’m an adult.”
“You were wonderful, cherie,” René told her.
Kendall’s heart ached when he nuzzled her shoulder and breathed a kiss onto her flesh like he was branding it there forever. Something told her she would always feel his lips there.
“I had a great time.” Quentin got up and redressed. “Justin and I will take off and let you two spend your last night alone together. Be sure to get some sleep, though, for your flight tomorrow.”
“Thanks for the show, guys. It was really fun,” Justin said.
“It was,” she agreed.
After Quentin had his clothes back on and then left with Justin, René and Kendall took a shower together. Once the sheets were changed, they held each other for a long time like they never wanted to let go. Maybe she could persuade him to move to Manhattan with her. It was a lovely dream, but something told her that she could no more convince him to move to New York than he could persuade her to stay in South Dakota. The impasse was thoroughly devastating.
Chapter Nine
René was dying inside as he drove Kendall to the airport. Talking, laughter, rocking out to music on the radio, and, at times, deeper reflection in the heart-wrenching silence was the paradise he savored. It was also the hell tormenting him with each mile and every minute that brought them closer and closer to the flight that would take her away from him, probably forever.
Oh sure, she promised to visit him when she came to see her sister in the future, but she didn’t know how long it would be before she was in South Dakota again. He knew “Let’s keep in touch” meant “Let’s make this work somehow, but I want to live in New York and have a career more than I want you.” She acted just as depressed about leaving as he felt, but she kept telling him, or maybe herself, that they would see each other again. He knew better. The truth was that when she got on that plane, he knew he would never see her again. If he did hear of her again, it would probably be that she’d found someone else.
Talking with her came so naturally, and making love to her was an intoxicating Eden. He envied every man who would get to share it with her after him. He could forgive her for having a history, but it killed him to think of her having a future without him and making her unwritten history with someone else.
He walked her through the terminal, cussing inside that she needed to be on the plane minutes ago and would have to hustle to board with the other passengers who were already filing in.
She turned to him, eyes glassy and voice broken as with the threat of tears. “God, I’m gonna miss you so much. This really hurts.”
He pulled her into his arms suddenly and just held her, eyes closed and breathed in every whiff of lavender his nose would register before becoming immune and lessening the scent until he moved away and started over again.
“I know what you mean,” he murmured, chest seizing with unrecognizable pain. “These past few days with you have meant more to me than years with anyone else. You’re truly special, cher.”
“You’re special, too, and really sweet.” She hugged him tighter. “I’d better get on the plane before I start blubbering all over you.”
“I wouldn’t mind.” He brushed a curly wisp of red hair back from her face, drinking in every lush detail to remember her by. “God, look at you. It’s not fair. You came and moved right through me and just left.” He shook his head, gratitude softening his tenseness as affection laced his voice. “No. Who I really feel sorry for is the man who never meets you. The one who’s gonna miss out on everyt
hing and never even realize it.”
She couldn’t keep a few tears from running astray. “God, René, that’s so incredibly sweet. How do you always know just what to say?”
“Wish I did.” He fondled her cheek. “If I knew the right words to say, I would and you’d never leave me.”
Her eyes squeezed shut and she kissed his palm. A brief flare of panic emerged when she saw the line getting smaller. “Crap, I’m sorry. I’ve got to go.”
She crushed her lips against his, but the kiss didn’t last long enough for the engagement of their tongues.
“Thank you for everything.”
“Thank you, cherie.”
She waved at him, giving him a wistful glance before turning and wheeling her luggage into the line.
He was losing her.
Just let her go. It’s what she wants.
Still, what if...what if the right words to keep her here with him did exist and he just hadn’t spoken them yet?
He trotted over to her. “Kendall!”
She spun around, seeming stressed until she saw him and gave him a questioning look. Her mouth opened to speak, but his tongue took that as an invitation and darted past her lips to sink into her wet, satiny heat. What he imagined would be a slow, intimate kiss went bananas as his mouth crashed down on hers and his tongue ravaged hers in a passionate mating that stripped an enthusiastic moan from her.
Well, there was an idea—kissing her until the plane took off. Words might not even be necessary when making out could be so beneficially distracting.
When he broke the kiss, she gasped and stared at him in bewilderment.
“I love you, Kendall.”
She blinked at him and her mouth fell open in shock.
He cupped her cheeks in his hand, splaying his fingers in her hair. “I really do love you. If those aren’t the right words, then I’ve got nothing.”
“Oh, René,” she breathed, looking torn to the point of torture. “Why did you wait until just now to tell me that?”
“I didn’t want to hold you back. I need you so much. Please don’t kill this before we see where it leads.”
She licked her lips in a way that would have made him painfully hard if this wasn’t such a sink-or-swim moment. “I have to go. I’m really sorry. I’ll call you as soon as I can.”
He let go of her and stepped away. “Have a safe flight.”
“I’m sorry.” She bolted after the last passenger boarding the plane.
She left. He lost her. René heaved a sigh that made his chest hurt. That’s what he got for caring. Odd that one weekend with a woman could change his life in a way going steady with a few women in the past hadn’t.
He stood there a moment, taking in the leather of his cowboy boots without even computing what he was seeing. Finally, he turned on his heel and walked away, carrying her with him in his heart.
“René!”
His heart jerked with a fool’s degree of hope as he spun back around to see if his ears were actually just bastards fucking with his head. Nope, there was Kendall running toward him as best as she could while carting luggage around with her. She let go of it and jumped up into his arms, wrapping her legs around his hips and flinging her arms around his neck. He held her tight, saying a silent prayer of thanks. He didn’t know what she was giving him, forever or just a few more days, but he would treasure every second he had left with her.
“I couldn’t do it.” She pulled back with a soggy mixture of joy and heartache streaming down her face when he lowered her again. “I just started crying and my heart hurt when I thought of never seeing you again. I love you, too, René, so fucking much.”
He grinned and cupped her sodden face. “My bad girl swearing her love at me.”
She laughed. “Yes, goddamn it. I love you.”
He cracked a smile that went straight to his soul. “Well shit, I love you, too.”
She giggled before they French kissed. “I’m not sure how long I can stay. I was thinking a few more days, maybe.”
There it was, the fine print. “Two months.”
She smirked. “A week.”
“Two.”
“Deal.” They shook on it. “Maybe we can visit each other after I do move, or you could come to New York with me.”
“New York isn’t really my kind of town.”
“Well, it’s actually more of a city, so you’re in luck.”
“You know what I meant.” He ran his hands over her arms. “You could stay here with me.”
“But I need the hustle and bustle.”
“I’ll let you stand in my father’s herd of cattle while we’re rounding them up.”
She rolled her eyes but humored him with a faint smile. “I need things to do or I’ll get bored.”
He flashed her a naughty grin and stuck his hands in the back pockets of her jeans. “Oh, I’ll give you plenty to do, cherie. You can count on that.”
Her smile lit up her entire countenance this time as she pecked a kiss on his lips. “Dirty boy, whatever could you mean?”
“Stay with me and I’ll show you.”
“But it’s New York. How could you not want that?”
He shrugged. “I grew up here.”
“I know. Doesn’t that make you want to run screaming for the hills?”
“Not really, no. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.”
“That’s good, because we’d have to have a studio apartment in New York and work our butts off to make rent each month.”
“Sounds tempting,” he quipped. “I need wide open spaces.”
“They have Central Park.”
He smirked. “Well, I’ll tell you what. Let’s just spend these two months—”
“Two weeks.”
“Two weeks together and then see who changes whose mind.”
“Okay.” She glided her hands up and down his chest through his shirt. “But I’m gonna win. You wait and see. New York has too much to offer.”
“I’m sure it does, cher, but I don’t think you realize just what all I’m willing to do and offer you to get you to stay.”
Himself, Quentin, and his brothers...except for Charlie.
She arched a brow at him and gave him a curious smile. “I’m intrigued.”
“Good. I can play dirty when I have to, boo. I’m gonna make damned sure you don’t ever want to leave me.” René draped an arm around her shoulder and gave her a squeeze into his side.
Kendall leaned into him and snuggled her face against his body. “You play dirty, huh?”
He grinned. “Very dirty.”
Her fingers crawled down his other side and wiggled their wicked way down into his pocket. “I can play dirty, too, you know.”
“I don’t doubt that. Thank you for getting off that plane and giving me a chance.”
“Thank you for wanting me to. I’m gonna win, though, in the end. You’ll see.”
A deeply amused grin made a crooked show on his face. “No you won’t, cher. Trust me. You won’t.”
He’d seen this kind of thing happen before to other people in McKenna Downs. The citizens of the charming, small town were set in their ways and sometimes newcomers got sucked in, too, particularly if they fell in love.
Kendall was already in love with him, but she had a big heart and he knew that women with a lot of love to give often ended up falling for more than one man in his hometown. Whether she realized it or not, he had already won. She would eventually fall hard and deep for his brothers and for Quentin as well. It was only a matter of time.
If she didn’t, then he’d have her all to himself, but he had a feeling she would fall for them as well. When and if that happened, he would gladly share her with them.
Not with Charlie, though, never with him.
All he needed to do was convince Kendall that she was where she belonged, get her to spend some more time with his brothers and Quentin, all while trying to keep Charlie from finding out. The first two would be a walk in the park. It
was that last part René wasn’t so sure about.
Chapter Ten
Kendall sat as close as possible to René while he drove her out to his family cattle ranch a few miles outside of McKenna Downs. She couldn’t get close enough to him. Try as she might, she hadn’t been able to get on that plane to fly to New York like she’d meant to. She would soon, but first she wanted to spend some more time with him.
She was in awe when he pulled into the driveway of the Huntingtons’ house. Make that mother-frickin’ mansion. The place was huge and spectacular, like something out of a luxury home brochure or a serious-ass vacation rental for the stinking wealthy.
As much as she liked shiny things, she felt a little out-of-place. Hell, René almost seemed out-of-place living in a glamorous monstrosity like that. He was a laidback, simple man, but good lord. His freakin’ house sure didn’t know it.
The place harbored something of the elegance and style of a country English estate in literature. It had the romantic structure of stone that gave it the feel of a bygone era, but the myriad of windows and the polished oak beams framing them added a modern style that almost resembled many of the houses in California. Still, the exterior was unabashedly stuck in a Regency vein with a slightly rustic indiscretion that was subtle.
Balconies beckoned stalwart men to climb up them while black iron railing lined the stairs to the house and added to the allure. As eye-popping as the mansion was in the daytime, it probably looked absolutely stunning at night, especially with all the lights on.
“Here we are,” René said as they got out of the truck together. She adored his charming Cajun accent that nearly made her swoon whenever he opened his mouth. “Home sweet home. What do you think, boo?”
Think? How could she when she had to turn her head to take in the entirety of the large house? Shit, no wonder he didn’t want to move away. She couldn’t say she blamed him, but South Dakota wasn’t exactly the “get famous for fashion design” state for as scenic and peaceful as the place was.
“You live here?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“It’s not fair using a shiny house to tempt me with,” she teased. “I haven’t changed my mind, though.”
