Pennybaker School Is Headed for Disaster

  To Cori Deyoe, for making my ideas and mostly complete sentences appear on the desks of the people who can do the shifting and the shaping. Also, for clapping the loudest at the end of every trick. Even when I drop my wand and my rabbit hops away.

  To Brett Wright, for helping me dump those ideas and mostly complete sentences and some scarves and Ping-Pong balls and a little bit of fire into a top hat and pull out … a story. To Sally Morgridge, for making sure nobody can see the cards up my sleeves, and to Sandy Smith, for making sure the tricks look pretty before the smoke clears away—both of you turn those mostly complete sentences into complete sentences, and I thank you for that.
