Edge of Love

Sean picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He carried me in the bedroom then dropped me on the bed. I stripped off his clothes as fast as I could. When I saw his cock, I moaned. I didn’t realize how much I missed fucking him until now. Sean pulled my clothes off and stared at my breasts. He leaned over me and sucked each nipple, making me wetter than I already was.

Sean separated my legs then leaned over me. “I miss fucking you.”

I grabbed his ass. “I know.”

He slipped inside of me with no resistance. He started pounding into me hard and fast. We tried to stay quiet, but we eventually abandoned the attempt. I couldn’t care less if my brother heard me. I heard him have sex with tons of different women.

I felt my climax build. “Fuck me, Sean.”

He thrust into me harder and deeper.

“Yes, yes.” I moaned. I scratched his back as I felt his entire shaft slide in and out of me. “Yeah, Sean.”

He grunted as he thrust into me. “Even when you are pissed at me, you are so wet for me.”

  “Sean, I’m almost there.”

“I know, babe. Come on.” He continued to pound into me.

I felt it grow. “Please don’t stop.”

“I want you to come, babe. Come for me.”

“Okay.” I felt the sweat drip from my breasts.

“Who’s making you come?” he said through his heavy breathing.

  “You.”

  Who?”

  I bit my lip. “Sean.”

He grabbed my shoulders as he fucked me as hard as he could.

I started to scream his name. “Sean, Sean. Yeah, Sean.”

  “Here it comes.”

I bit my lip as I came. He pressed his lips over mine as he hammered into me so I would remain quiet. The electricity that ignited within me was enough to light an entire city in a blaze. It felt so good and so amazing. I couldn’t believe we went three days without doing this.

“I love watching you come for me,” he said.

  “Only for you.”

His body stiffened at my words as he reached his unexpected climax. I knew my words started a wave of pleasure through his body. He closed his eyes as he came inside me. I grabbed his face and whispered words of love into his ear. I was still pissed at him, but I loved him so much.

When he was done, he stayed on top of me. A moment later, he opened his eyes. “God, I missed that.”

“I did, too.” I grabbed his face and kissed him. Instead of lying down beside me like he normally did, he stood up and dressed himself.

  My face fell. “You’re leaving?”

“Yes,” he said as he pulled on his pants. “I got what I wanted. Now I want to go.”

I could hear the anger in his voice. When he was fully dressed he walked toward the door. “Make sure you lock the entrance behind me.”

I rose from the bed and dressed myself quickly then followed him to the door.

Without looking at me, he stepped outside into the hallway.

  “Sean?”

He stopped and looked at me. I could see the ferocity in his eyes. His anger hadn’t dimmed at all. His horniness won out over his temper for a moment. “What?”

I swallowed the lump in my throat. I hated seeing him this way.

“Do you have something you want to say to me?”

  I looked away. “No.”

He stared at me. “You know where to find me.” He turned around and left.

  Sean

“Yes, I faxed the payroll records to the accountant and I made the schedule for next month.” I listened to my boss on the line but didn’t really listen to what he said.

  “Great, Sean.”

  “Anything else you need, sir?”

  “No, you got it all.”

“Thank you, sir.” I hung up the phone and stared at my computer screen. Dealing with retirement accounts, taxes, and payroll issues wasn’t nearly as interesting as being a financial analyst but I gave that up—for Scarlet.

I don’t regret that decision. I just wish Scarlet understood what I sacrificed to be with her. I realize I was the one who screwed up to begin with, but I still made amends for my mistakes. My mom was disappointed with my career choice, hated the fact that I lived in a different time zone, and she disapproved of my relationship with Scarlet. I knew they loved her, but they also thought she was a rebound. That wasn’t true at all. Why couldn’t Scarlet pull her head out of her ass and realize how annoying she was being?

When I went over to see her last night, I fucked her brains out. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn’t classify what type of sex it was. It wasn’t breakup sex, make up sex, or one night stand sex, and we certainly weren’t making love. I guess it was angry sex. And I loved angry sex. I intended to fuck her again tonight. I knew Scarlet would want me to.

I just wish that she would just apologize so she would come back home. I missed her. I hated sleeping alone. Not being able to talk to her was torture. I didn’t realize how much we talked until she wasn’t there anymore. We never said anything extremely important, but without her next to me, I felt completely alone. The guys from the office took me out for a few drinks, but I didn’t do any other socializing.

  “Mr. Prescott?”

  My thoughts were shattered. “Yes?”

Maria, the assistant human resources director walked in the room. She had long legs that looked tan under her pencil skirt, and her breasts were curvy under her blouse. I thought she was attractive, but that’s the most my thoughts ever went. If I said I didn’t notice her beauty, I would be a liar. “Wanna grab a drink after work?”

I didn’t understand what she was asking me. She knew I was engaged. “No thank you.”

“Come on.” She smiled at me. “It’ll be fun.”

I wonder what she meant by the word fun. “Maria, I’m engaged.”

She rolled her eyes. “You told me that at least twenty times.”

  I nodded.

  “I meant as a friendly get-together.”

“Is the rest of the office going?”

  “Well, no.”

It was obvious she just wanted to get laid. I had too many one night stands not to notice. I saw her stare at me when I walked by her desk. I knew she wanted me. It wasn’t her fault. I knew I gave off the persona of a guy without a lot of morals. I didn’t talk about Scarlet often but there were pictures of her scattered around my desk, and I always told people I was engaged. Even though I was pissed at Scarlet right now, I would never cheat on her. Despite her current issues, she was the most amazing woman in the world. She was everything to me. “Then I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

  “You just seem so sad.”

I sighed. “My fiancé and I are having problems.”

“Anything I can do to help?”

  “No.”

  “Then we should go out.”

Now I was just angry. Since I was the lead human resources director, I couldn’t offend her or cause any additional problems. It would bite me in the ass later. I wanted to tell her to fuck off, and I probably would have if it was outside of work. “Thank you, but no thank you. I appreciate the offer, Maria.” I grabbed my bag from the floor then hoisted it over my shoulder. “I need to get going.” I walked out of my office and locked the door behind me. I didn’t say goodbye to Maria.

When I got home, I showered and made dinner—tried to make dinner. Everything was easier when Scarlet was here. I just wished she would apologize already. Perhaps if I withheld sex, she would come back to me quicker. I loathed the idea because I had needs, but I knew she did too. Eventually, she would give in and come back to me on her knees, and I would accept her with open arms.

When I went to bed that night, I masturbated. I thought of Scarlet the entire time, but my orgasm was weaker than it normally was. I preferred the real thing. I fell asleep immediately and repeated the cycle for the following days. Scarlet never reached out to me and I was getting more frustrated with every p
assing day. She must be suffering as much as I was. This is so stupid. If she didn’t call me tomorrow, then I was just going to surrender to her. Scarlet could have whatever she wanted as long as she came home to me. I was just an empty shell without her. I had no life, no purpose without her smile and her beauty. This was definitely one of the worst weeks of my life. The only one that rivaled it was when I almost overdosed on pain killers. Scarlet is the one who picked up the pieces.

When I was at work the next morning, I called Ryan. This was the only way I knew Scarlet wouldn’t be around.

  “Hey,” he said.

  “Hey. How is she?”

“You tell me. She seemed fine when you came over the other night.”

  I smiled. “You heard that?”

“My neighbors heard it, man. You give me a run for my money.”

  I laughed. “I’m sorry, man.”

“It’s fine. I just wish she would leave and go home already.”

  “I want the same thing.”

“Then drag her by the hair if you have to.”

I laughed. “She’s being that annoying?”

“No,” he said. “I love having her here. But I know she doesn’t belong here anymore. I just don’t want her to make a mistake and lose you.”

“You never have to worry about that, Ryan.”

  “That’s a relief because I know she’s being a brat right now.”

  “So you’re on my side?”

“Yeah. She’s just overreacting. She needs to compromise.”

I laughed. “I’m guessing you haven’t told her this?”

“Oh, she knows! She’s just being a stubborn brat about it. Thanks for putting up with her.”

I sighed. “I can’t live without her. I just wished she would see the error of her ways and come home. I don’t know how clearer I can make it that she isn’t being fair. She doesn’t even want my parents there. They wouldn’t even know about the wedding if she had it her way.”

  “That bitch is crazy.”

  I laughed hysterically.

“I admire you. I don’t know what I would do if Janice acted like that.”

“I hope you never have to experience that.”

“So, what are you going to do?” Ryan asked.

I sighed. “I’m just going to close. I’ll give her whatever she wants if she just comes home. I can’t stand this anymore.”

He was quiet for a moment. “If you’re sure.”

“Yes, I think I am. I just want to be with her. Hopefully, I talk her out of it after she cools off.”

“I’m about to leave the shop. You wanna get a beer?”

  “Yeah. At Larry’s?”

“See you soon.” He hung up the phone.

I returned my phone to my pocket then walked out of the office. I didn’t care for my job all that much, but I never wanted to tell Scarlet that. She would either respond in two ways: she would tell me to quit my job because she made enough money for the both of us, or she would start crying because she would feel so bad that I disliked my job. Both of those events were unacceptable. I preferred to hide it from her.

When I walked into the sports bar, Ryan was already at the bench. He was watching a baseball game on the television.

“Hey,” he said. “I thought you might like a beer before you pick up the brat.”

  I laughed. “She’s a handful.”

He looked at me for a moment. “I’m not trying to get all—girly—on you or anything, but I’m really glad that you and Scarlet are together. I feel better knowing that she has a man that will put up with her, call her out on her shit, and love her unconditionally. Don’t get me wrong, my little sister is amazing.” He lowered his voice to a whisper. “Don’t tell her I said that.” I smiled and he continued. “But I’m glad I have someone to depend on to take care of her. I know the Penelope incident was bad and it made Scarlet question your loyalty, but I know you would never hurt her.” He took a drink of his beer. “Basically, what I’m trying to say is, welcome to the family.” He stuck out his hand and shook mine. When he pulled away, he looked at the game on the screen.

His words meant a lot to me but I didn’t know how to express that gratitude. I just nodded. “Thanks.”

“Yeah.” He ate the peanuts on the counter. “Do you need any rope?”

  “What?”

“To get Scarlet out of the house?”

I laughed. “No. When I apologize, she’ll come peacefully. I know she missed me as much as I missed her.”

“I’m just glad to get rid of her. Janice and I—we’re very similar, if you catch my meaning. We like our privacy.”

  “I don’t want to know.”

  He smiled. “You really don’t.”

  Scarlet

“It’s been a week, Scarlet. Just go home,” Janice said.

I stared at her. “You want me out of the house or something?” I sat next to her on the couch and crossed my arms over my chest.

“It’s not that,” she said. “It’s just—odd. Are you and Sean even together anymore?”

I played with my engagement ring. “Of course.”

“Then go work it out with him.”

“We’re at a stalemate. Either he apologizes, or I do.”

“Then just suck it up and do it.”

“No,” I said. “I don’t want to have that ridiculous wedding. I won’t do it.”

She sighed. “Wouldn’t you rather have that wedding than lose Sean?”

I shook my head. “I’m not going to lose Sean.”

“Well, he hasn’t come to you either, Scarlet. Maybe you should talk to him before it’s too late.”

I took a deep breath. I hated being apart from him and I admitted that this situation was stupid. But I wanted to stand my ground. He was being unfair.

She stared at me. “Come on, Scarlet. Just get over it.”

  “No.”

She rolled her eyes. “You aren’t perfect either.”

  “What do you mean?”

I heard the front door open but I didn’t look at the doorway, too interested in Janice’s words. Ryan could wait until this conversation was over.

“Well, you slept with Cortland and you never told Sean about it. That’s pretty unfair. Are you ever going to tell him?”

I sighed. “No, I’m not. It will just cause more problems.” I played with my engagement ring and closed my eyes. I felt horrible for lying to him, but I knew it would just mess up my family. Cortland would be ostracized. When I looked at Janice, her eyes were wide with fear.

When I looked behind me, I saw Sean standing there. When we fought last week, I’ve never seen him so angry, but it was nothing compared to this. It looked like he would actually slap me this time. The anger and hurt in his eyes broke my heart. His hands shook at his sides while he looked at me. He didn’t say anything but I thought that was worse. Sean was never speechless. Ryan stood behind him and covered his face, preparing for the explosion that was about to take place.

Sean looked like he was about to say something but he didn’t. He turned around and marched back to the door. I jumped from the couch and ran after him. “Sean! Sean!”

He turned around and held up a hand to me. “Get the fuck away from me!” His hand shook. I had never seen him act this way. “Don’t fucking touch me.”

  “Sean, listen to me.”

  “Fuck you, Scarlet.”

My eyes started to water and a tear escaped. “Sean, please.”

“I can’t believe you! You made a huge ordeal when I didn’t tell you about Penelope and that wasn’t even any of your goddamn business! You acted like I betrayed you! And you’re the one who fucked some other guy behind my back!” He ran his hands through his hair and tore a few strands from his scalp. “And you have the fucking nerve to get mad at me for having trust issues when you already cheated on me? This is absolute bullshit!”

  “Sean, listen to me!”

“NO!” He grabbed my hand and tore the en
gagement ring from my finger. “I’m done with you. My mom was right about you. You aren’t right for me, Scarlet. I deserve something better. I moved all the way to Seattle for you and took a job I hate just to be with you, and you fuck me over like this?”

  “SEAN! IT WASN’T LIKE THAT!”

“Fuck you, Scarlet. I don’t want to hear it. Go fuck yourself.”

I grabbed his arm but he pushed me away.

I started to sob hysterically. “I DIDN’T CHEAT ON YOU.”

He walked out the door and into the hallway. I followed him.

“Sean.” I grabbed his arm, but he yanked it away.

“Get away from me, you fucking whore.”

“I didn’t cheat on you! Listen to me.”

He turned around and faced me. “You can’t lie your way out of this one, Scarlet. Have Ryan come get your shit. I want you out of my place tomorrow.”

“I slept with Cortland when I moved here. You and I weren’t even talking.” My hands were shaking and I couldn’t see through the blurriness of my eyes. “Sean, listen to me.” I fell to my knees and looked up at him. “I’m not lying.”

  “Goodbye, Scarlet.”

  “Sean!”

  He walked away.

  “I’m not lying!”

I heard Ryan’s feet walk pass me, and he grab Sean’s arm. I wiped my tears away and looked up.

Ryan stared at Sean. “She isn’t lying.”

Sean yanked his arm away. “Good luck with her.”

Ryan didn’t give up. “She slept with Cortland before you and I even talked. She had no idea if you were ever coming back. She didn’t do anything wrong.”

Sean stared at him. “And why should I believe you?”

“Scarlet may have made a mistake, but she isn’t a liar and neither am I.”

“You should set her up with Cortland because I don’t want her anymore.”

  I cried harder.

Ryan grabbed him again. “She didn’t tell you because she knew how you would react.”
