Lethal Sin (Dangerous Games Book 1)

But, of course, it was too perfect to linger in and she needed to ruin it before they got too sappy.
“I’m glad you won’t shoot me, because I have to tell you something.”
“What?” His body stiffened against hers and she let a devious smile spread her lips.
“Luke’s mom wants us over for dinner. Both of us.”
Mateo groaned and rolled off her, landing on his back to her side. “Seriously?”
“Yes, she does, and… I sort of already said we would be there.”
“When?” he asked, tilting his head towards her.
“Saturday. And before you argue with me, we did save her son’s life, and you made me go and explain it all by myself. She wants to meet you too and thank you.” Camille touched his chin to make sure he didn’t look away from her. “You have to be there.”
“Haven’t I told you not to be bossy?”
“And how well has that worked for you?” She smiled.
“Not well, but what will I get out of this awkward family evening?”
Camille thought for a moment and then shrugged. “A family?”
Mateo froze and she wondered if she’d pushed too hard, too fast. They had just admitted their feelings with actual words, and here she was trying to force her half-brother and his mom down the guy’s throat. Camille was just about to take it all back when he draped his arm over his eyes and sagged against the floor. “Just please tell me I don’t need to dress up or anything.”
Radiant joy filled her up and she tried to stifle the ridiculous grin that was making her cheeks ache as she pulled his arm away. “Not at all, it’s at their apartment. She just wants to say thank you.”
“Okay.” He looked up at her, his brown eyes back to their normal chocolate color, all of the brazen lust abated for the moment.
“It’s not like you don’t dress well all the time anyway.”
“Well, maybe I want to wear sweatpants and a t-shirt.” He arched an eyebrow at her and she laughed.
“Do you even own sweatpants?”
“For when I work out, yes.” Mateo grinned and she leaned down to press a kiss to his lips.
“Wear whatever you want, asshole.”
“As long as you’re with me, doll face, I’ll feel like I’m in Armani.” He kissed her again and she leaned against him. It was perfect. He was perfect. And for once in her insane life, Camille felt safe, and protected, and loved.
What more could a girl want?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jennifer Bene is a best-selling author of erotic fiction. Her writing has been described by readers as "dark in a way that turns you on", and she definitely takes that as a compliment! She has a terrible mouth that often gets her in trouble but comes in handy when she's writing. She loves to write strong female characters and dominant male characters in stories that take readers for a walk on the dark side.
When she's not attached to a keyboard, she likes to read, drink wine, do yoga, binge on Netflix, and enjoy life with friends/family. She lives in Texas, and no, she doesn't own a horse or wear a cowboy hat, you'd have better luck finding her on the dance floor downtown. Seriously.
Jennifer would love to hear from you! She does her best to keep readers up to date via social media, and tries to always respond when readers are nice enough to message her!
