  EPILOGUE

  Barbara Belasco was charged with the murder of her father Albert a few months later. She admitted that she had used an ice pick to kill him while he slept. She never gave a motive as to why she would kill her own father. They convicted her, but she was not sent to prison but instead would serve out the remainder of her days in a mental health facility designed for the criminally insane.

  Phillip Massey learned how to make Quartec enterprises work on his own. Without Seth Collins’ help, it wasn’t easy. Seth had been the real brains behind their success. Phillip never got over the feelings of betrayal he felt in learning that Seth Collins was an alias for a man who was wanted for killing someone and maiming a couple others in Utah. He wanted no further contact with Seth, or Brad or whoever he was. Had hung up on Brad when Brad tried to call him for help flying out of the country.

  Spam and Smack were finally freed from each other. The police tried to wedge them apart for a long time and did not succeed. At about the fourteenth hour from their unwanted coupling, they suddenly were released from each other. They had helped wet each other’s pants while standing in the group hug. They were taken to jail and charged with various crimes that were committed at the Collins residence including entering an establishment that was under police control.

  Gorilla had them involved in several illegal activities by the time they assaulted the Collins family that night. Charges against all four of them were bumped up to multiple felonies. There would be prison time for them.

  Nancy Cooper pined for Steve with terrible hurt feelings. She felt betrayed by the secrets that Steve had kept from her. But seeing his whole family on the news as wanted fugitives broke her heart. She was a lot more careful who she dated after that. She always wondered though if she would ever see Steve again. In a secret place in her heart, she hoped he could fix everything that was wrong and come back for her. Her thoughts were never very far away from Steve.

  Sherry Rowley hit the bottle harder than ever after Jeff and Dan died. She was killed while intoxicated and driving down the narrow road that made up Ogden Canyon following the many people who had died in head-on collisions on the narrow curving road. Sherry didn’t try to avoid anything in her inebriated state and crossed the center line hitting a tour bus. She died at the scene. Her tragic life had come to its end along with her obsessive hate-love feelings for Brad. The Rowley family was gone now. Only the mother did not take part in trying to kill or injure Brad Shaw. Yet even she had conspired with her daughter to bring his life to an end. They all died with revenge in their hearts.

  Josh was questioned intently by the police when they discovered that the overturned van was the same one involved in the incident near Citrus Heights. His story was too convoluted to cover his tracks. They knew that he had been involved in the incidents that had occured culminating in the lives that were lost in the glory hole. The bodies had all been located down stream from the dam within a couple days. Josh was charged with kidnapping that resulted in the deaths of several people. His attorney would have to be the very best to get him out. His public defender was not the very best and he went to prison a year later.

  ∆∆∆

  As for the Shaws, they snuck across the Canadian border and had their passports changed. As it turned out, their return to California had been unnecessary; Their conflict with the four troublemakers could have been avoided. The Shaws disappeared into the Canadian wilderness for a time. They had a new effective plan for how to escape their past.

  With all their technological advances, passports could still be altered or faked by the right people if one had enough money and knew where to look to find these kinds of people. Brad had a connection from his selling a jet to a person in Canada he thought was just little too shady and who had mentioned a certain friend in passing. Brad found said friend and paid him well for the counterfeit documents. The passports did not have the name of Shaw or Collins on them. Their last names were now Barnes. Their driver’s licenses were also changed to reflect their new identity. No one could find a trace of where they had gone. If only the investigators had thought to look in Sitka Alaska…

  A word of explanation; When an e-book author releases a book, he has done so in most cases without the advantage of having a professional editor that can polish and fine-tune the manuscript. An editor would cost more than we can expect to earn in many cases. Simply stated, we cannot afford a professional editor and still expect to make a profit.

  Although we try hard, we e-book writers are still capable of leaving errors in our manuscript unintentionally. Many readers will judge a book by the errors in the text even if they love the story. So, as an author, let me first say that I am sorry if you run into any annoyances while reading my books. I certainly would like that to not be the case. Second, I would like to say that if you review my book that it will be the merits of the story that you use to rate the book.

  There are some e-book authors who I follow that have become increasingly more successful in removing the vast majority of their errors. Even then, there are still a few in each book. I know as an author how hard they try not to let these unprofessional occurrences into their manuscripts. However, most authors are not editors and editors are not usually authors.

  Major publishers will no longer accept new authors who are trying to build a future as a writer. We are left to ourselves and we try to compensate. I hope that my stories provide a high degree of entertainment for you and that you get lost in the story.
