“But my neck.”
“That’s because we were trying not to rush you.” Sasha scooched in close, his hand trailing where I hoped he’d soon mark me as his.
“But I begged.” It came out as but a whisper. If we were going to discuss this, might as well get it all out there.
“Begged but didn’t discuss.” Rob leaned over me and kissed Sasha. Not much hotter than that. “Now up with you.” He gave my ass a playful smack.
“Oh, I’m already up,” I sassed. I was so very up.
“Behave.” He smacked my ass again, and I let out a little whimper of need. We were going to have to explore that later. “You are all dirty, so we’d best clean you up and then feed you. We have things to figure out.”
He sat up, and Sasha and I followed suit.
“Like Bart and the girl, Emerson.” It was true. There was so much left to deal with, including Malinda. She felt like a friend, but not. Like she was helping not just out of the kindness of her heart. I couldn’t quite place what it was, but it was something.
“That and what your color means.” Sasha was watching my arm oddly, and as I looked at it, I caught almost a glow before it shimmered away. What the freck?
“About that and that?” I pointed to my arm, and he nodded. “I didn’t know.”
Gram had never wanted me shifting in front of others, but she had a lot of weird rules, rules I hadn’t understood until the day I was no longer free. But the color thing was all new, and it wasn’t as if I could’ve missed it. Not as if I could change and never see my own foot or reflection in the water. No, I was pretty positive this was a recent change. Possibly a change because of my mates and their gorgeousness?
“I wondered.” Sasha wrapped his arm around me, which was exactly what I needed. “We’ll figure it out.” He kissed the top of my head before bounding to his feet and holding his hand out to me. “After we shower.”
“Shower?” Rob winked before climbing out of bed and also offering me a hand. I took them both, and they helped me up and straight into their arms, just where I wanted to be.
We wandered into the bathroom, Sasha setting up the water as I grabbed towels. None of us were under the delusion we were going to pop in, get cleaned off, and be dressed in record time. All three of our cocks were about ready to explode, so a little dirtying each other up before washing was in order.
Rob stepped in first, followed by Sasha and me.
“Sasha, you designed this space well,” I praised as I reached for the shampoo to wash my mates’ hair.
“Hmmm,” he started as I lathered his head, massaging his scalp as I did. “I guess. You should see Rob’s, though. That thing even has seats.”
My mind instantly went to all the ways those seats could be used in naughty fun. Yes. Please.
“We should check it out. When this blows over, I mean,” I added quickly.
“Or sooner. It wouldn’t hurt to get more of my things.” Rob’s hands found my scalp. When had he grabbed the shampoo? It was pure heaven having him wash my hair. Strong dragon being so gentle and caring.
“Thank you,” I mumbled as I tried to focus on finishing Sasha’s hair and not allowing myself to get distracted by Rob’s ministrations. The task wasn’t an easy one. The man had magical fingers.
“Anything for you, omega ours.”
I leaned back into Rob, the sexiness of his proclamation ruining all chances of me focusing on Sasha. Not that he seemed to mind, instead rotating his body so he could more easily rinse the shampoo from his head as I closed my eyes, enjoying the pampering.
It should probably upset me, having Rob proclaim me theirs, given my background, but it did the complete opposite, giving me a sense of belonging I’d not remembered feeling, and I was going to embrace the crap out of it.
“Here.” Rob guided me under the water as he rinsed my hair gently, and Sasha lathered my skin with his body wash. I was going to spend my day smelling like him. A groan came out unbidden.
“I think our omega likes my hands all over him.” Sasha spoke to Rob, but his intonation told me it was all for my benefit.
“I do,” I admitted. “Both of yours.”
“Our greedy omega wants more. Shall we give it to him?” Rob’s hands left my head and found my shoulders. I was going to take that as a yes.
Next thing I knew, their hands were on me, sudsing me up and making me feel anything but clean. As a hand, I wasn’t even sure whose, wrapped around my cock, teasing it as it gently brought me closer and closer to the brink with every twist, tug, and brush of his fingers. Next thing I knew, I found myself coming far too soon, body quaking, knees giving way just as two sets of arms encircled me and I heard the sound of them kissing over my shoulder.
Now, that was how to shower.
“Looks like our unicorn is all dirty again. What a pity. We are going to have to wash him again.” Sasha nipped my shoulder before doing exactly that.
By the time we came out, the water was tepid, our bodies sated, and the morning was mostly gone.
Best way to start a day. Ever.
Chapter Sixteen
Sasha
My lion noticed the difference almost immediately after I woke up. The real reason I’d faked being asleep was to give myself time to process the events of the night before. My mates had completed me and my beast at once.
And, one of us, it didn’t matter which, had gotten our omega pregnant.
With my lion sense, I could smell how Samuel’s pheromones and hormones had changed dramatically. His core scent was somewhat sweeter.
Rob cooked up scrambled eggs, enough to feed an army, while I made toast.
Samuel offered to help, but both of us needed this, to make sure our omega was nourished and satisfied.
We’d taken care of the satisfied part last night and in the shower this morning and intended to fill him up again as soon as possible.
Several times while we fucked, my teeth came out, my lion demanding I claim him and Rob at the same time, but I refrained—barely.
“Eggs are done. Samuel, do you want coffee or tea?”
I nudged Rob not and gave him the widest stare I could.
“What?”
“Maybe we shouldn’t give him caffeine.”
I didn’t know a lot about pregnancy and babies, but I knew caffeine was a no-no.
“He needs energy, he’s growing a…” His voice tapered off. We stood facing each other, neither one willing to spill the beans about what we already knew.
“You know. You smell it, too, don’t you?”
He looked around at Samuel who had become infatuated the television that I hardly ever turned on. “I thought it was just a change because we mated last night, but this is something more. He smells like cookies and cinnamon rolls now, not like before, yet, the Samuel smell is still present—like he rolled around in a bakery. I don’t want to scare him. He just got his freedom and two new mates. I didn’t know if you knew.”
I took his hand in mine and leaned forward to kiss his temple. For a tough, smart-as-hell guy, Rob could be daft about the normal things.
“I knew from the moment I woke up. He’s got enough to deal with. My instinct is to protect him from any more stress, but he has to know. He would be happy, don’t you think?”
We’d been so engrossed in our conversation that we missed Samuel crossing the room and coming to stand next to us, leaning his head on Rob’s shoulder. He spoke softly. “I dreamed of him. He’s looks like all of us. He’s perfect, and he will be born like the wind, colors and golden and one of a kind.”
Well, that answered our concerns.
“You’re not upset?” Rob asked, pulling our trio closer together. At that moment, I needed to feel their skin on mine, but their warmth would suffice.
“Of course, I’m not. I’m free now thanks to both of you. I’ve found the two alphas I’m meant to be joined with for life, and now I carry our love in my belly. There’s nothing that could make me unhappy at this point. I’ve
got a piece of both of you in me. We’re a family.”
My bad boy Rob had a tear running down his face by the time Samuel finished speaking. I didn’t cry at all—nope, not me.
“Samuel.” My voice cracked. “You are amazing. We didn’t know how to tell you.”
Samuel smirked. “I think maybe I’ll be the one telling you things about this baby. I already love him.”
“We all do. And you. We love you, Samuel. You’re the piece Sasha and I were missing,” Rob said after swiping away the tear and then another.
My lion purred loud and proud. I could even hear it with my human ears.
Rob laughed. “That’s Sasha’s way of saying he loves us, too. I’ve always loved it when he purrs.”
“Come on, let’s eat. It’s getting cold, and there’s nothing more I want to see right now than Samuel eating and feeding our babe. It would do me some good.”
Samuel grabbed my ass as I turned. “Nothing more you’d want to see?”
Rob laughed, bringing some of the food to the table. “We’ll always want that first, omega, don’t you worry. Mostly, we’re feeding you so you can have strength for tonight.” He winked at Samuel who blushed in turn.
“I suppose we should go see Malinda and the two escapees.” We’d finished eating but were hesitant to leave our comfortable love den even to find out more about Samuel’s coloring and how Bart and Emerson would move forward.
“Maybe your grandmother made some more pies. You’re still hungry.”
“I am. It’s strange. Overnight, I went from barely eating anything and being someone else’s slave to feeling like a king. You two have changed everything for me.”
I got up and kissed him on the mouth quickly before getting my shoes. If I stayed there a minute longer, I’d be leaking again.
They followed my example, getting their shoes on, albeit slow as could be.
“You ready, Samuel?” I asked, thinking that maybe he was stalling, moving like a turtle.
“I’m ready.”

Outside Malinda’s, the place practically rattled with what sounded like a ruckus happening inside. Through the open windows, we could hear raised voices and glass shattering. We burst through the door, thinking someone had come for Emerson or worse, Bart had betrayed us somehow.
“What are you going to do, cut me, witch?” Bart said as we stepped through the door.
“What is going on?” I asked, seeing nothing that warranted all that yelling except some broken glass that Malinda, with arms raised, had suspended in the air right in front of Bart’s face.
“He…the fire…nasty, nasty breath.” Malinda hadn’t ever been really clear in her speech, but this made less sense than usual.
“What is the problem?” Rob got closer to her with hands raised in peace just in case she decided to utilize the glass as a weapon against him.
Bart coughed then cleared his throat. “She’s all pissed because it was taking her a year and a half to light the stove she insists must be started this morning despite this stuffy place, so I blew a little fire on it. Started it in two seconds and it got her panties in a knot.”
She dropped the glass with a snap of her fingers. We looked at Bart then back at Malinda, fists propped on her hips, more pissed off than a warthog. “Malinda? Is that all?”
She scoffed and pointed her bony finger at Bart. “He…he… I can start my own fire. I don’t need some dragon messing in my business. But I suppose it’s fine—for now. We’re scaring the girl, anyway.”
Poor Emerson shook in the corner, covered in a blanket, looking wide-eyed from Malinda and back to Bart. Her hair was disheveled, and her chin quivered.
“Emerson, come here,” Malinda cooed after taking a few deep breaths. We definitely had to find somewhere else to keep Bart safe before he lit Malinda up like a toasted marshmallow—or she put a hex on him.
Emerson, frail and skinny, wrapped the blankets around her tighter, taking her time getting up and then barreling into Malinda’s embrace.
“Clean that up, dragon. It’s your fault.” Malinda seethed over the child’s head.
“You broke it,” Bart snapped back.
Rob stepped forward and cleared his throat. I smiled, knowing he’d had enough of the bullshit by his stance and how he squared off his shoulders.
“That is enough, both of you. Malinda, I know you’re doing us a favor here, but maybe try making it a little less pulling teeth and a little more, oh, I don’t know, nice. And for fuck’s sake, Bart, try to remember that if it wasn’t for us and Malinda, you’d be dragon fodder by now. Let’s all get a little motherfucking perspective and stop acting like children so we can take care of the only actual child in the room.”
It made my dick salute him, that’s how commanding his voice and bad-ass posture had been.
“We came here so Samuel could speak to his grandmother, not to interfere in the battle of the century. Think we can do that without any more bickering and bullshit?”
Malinda and Bart both nodded. Samuel’s granny stood in the kitchen the whole time, caught in between being in awe of Rob and laughing.
Didn’t blame her.
Chapter Seventeen
Rob
We couldn’t get away from the chaos at Malinda’s fast enough. Not that it stopped us from taking a pie each. We weren’t that stupid, and we were going to have a long drive into the city. I knew a doctor there, and, despite Samuel’s protests that Malinda would be a great midwife for his pregnancy, despite his insistence that she’d helped Grey through all the way to healthy baby, Samuel had been through a lot. He’d been starved, beaten, and forced to sleep on cold hard floors. Who knew what damage that caused?
And why have a ton of money lying around getting dusty when you could use it to make sure your mate and the babe on the way were as healthy as possible? Rolling toward the city, I felt better than I’d anticipated. The time at Sasha’s was great, and I really could see it being our love cottage for life, but the city had some things to offer that Haven just didn’t.
“As soon as we get there, we’ll have lunch at a little bistro I know of with the best escargot. Then we’ll see the doctor—”
“I’m not eating snails,” Samuel declared as Sasha said, “Do you have an appointment with this world-famous baby doctor?” He jerked his head toward the backseat. “Or do they make special allowances for unicorns?”
I snorted. “They make special allowances for wealthy dragons whose father went to college with their fathers and who just added a wing to their favorite hospital.” And for once, my money was buying me something. I was glad to donate, but I also wanted to make sure my baby—our baby—had the best of everything.
“Aww, Rob, I told you Malinda is a great midwife, and I don’t want some big city doctor messing around in there.”
“Only the best for our family, right, Sasha?” I looked to him for solidarity. Surely, he would see the wisdom of my plan.
Sasha tossed his head back, and I could almost see his mane blowing in the breeze. “I am Switzerland. I want the baby and you, Samuel, to have the best of care, but, on the other hand, Malinda is a little crazy but has brought lots of healthy babies into this world and I think it’s important for the daddy carrying the baby to feel comfortable.”
“Thanks.” No help whatsoever. “Okay, how about we eat pizza, see the doctor and talk to him, and then decide what we want to do.”
Samuel hopped in the backseat. “Pizza. Okay.”
I glanced at him in the rearview mirror. “You’ll do anything for pizza, won’t you, mate?”
He grinned unapologetically. “Pretty much. I’ll show you when we get to your penthouse. It’s really a penthouse? Like in the movies?”
“Yeah. Pass me some pie, would you, Sam? If I am not going to the bistro, I might as well eat blueberries.”
He burped. Then nothing.
“Sam? Pie?”
Sasha lost it laughing. He even slapped his knee like someone in an old m
ovie.
“Any kind, I don’t care.”
“Ummm…”
Sasha leaned toward me. “You didn’t really expect there to be any pie left, did you? After all this time driving?”
“I suppose not.” But a man could hope. “I guess I can wait for pizza.” What choice did I have?
We weren’t far out, anyway. The skyline soon appeared in the distance, and I slapped at my growling stomach and steered toward the tall buildings I had, until recently called home.
Tapping the dash, I made the reservations at a very good pizza place, very glad I’d had my new car delivered to Haven. I’d waited nine months for this baby, and it was every bit as shiny and awesome as I’d expected. “The truck had its good points, but my car had the deep leather seats, the back one now probably full of blueberry pie crust crumbs, the great sound system, and every other luxury addition the dealer had suggested. Also one more thing. Putting it in self-drive mode, I leaned back in the seat and stretched.
“We’ll be there soon.” The silence around me was mildly amusing. Especially since I’d been denied some of the best pie in the tri-state area.
Finally, after some shifting and looking at each other, Samuel spoke. “I, ummm, why aren’t you touching the steering wheel?”
I chuckled. “Arms tired.” Ignoring the view through the windshield, I smiled at the two of them. “Seriously? You’ve never seen a self-driving car?”
Their expressions were comical, their relief even more so. Sasha shook his head. “So not funny. I thought you’d lost your mind.”
Straightening, I patted the dash as we entered the city limits. “I thought I mentioned it when I placed the order last year.”
“No…oh, you might have. Was that when we were in a sandstorm and under fire from that terrorist cell?”
I thought back. “Yes, then.”
“I wonder why I don’t remember. But could you do me a favor and turn it off? This is really heavy traffic.”
