by Christine Monroe

“Why did you stop?” Thorn’s voice was desperate.

“Your shirt’s still on.” The words coming out fast as a blush stained my cheeks.

“I’m sure you can find a way to remove it.” His smile making me blush harder making it had to focus so I could think of something. Suddenly remembering that a pair of scissors were in the drawer got the handcuffs. So, pulling open the drawer for the second time I grabbed them before returning to Thorn.

“I hope the shirt you are wearing isn’t one of your favorites.” I declared.

Thorn shook his head. “That’s my girl. I knew you would think of something.”

Careful not to cut him I sliced through the fabric his shirt dropping free leaving me to stare at pure perfection. The scars I had seen simply a peak at what he hid under his shirt. Thorn was all muscle, toned and cut with precision. The man could cut glass with his abs. A deep V dropping below his waistband had me thinking that maybe the pants had to go as well. Down girl. I was a horny teenager, but damn Thorn was built to drop panties.

Standing back so I could see every bit of Thorn’s perfection, the scars only adding to his charm. They called to me, begging me to learn their secrets. The scars announcing I’m a badass. Thorn wasn’t just an alpha; he was a fucking warrior. Something from a forgotten age where war and battle existed within every breath.

  *

Case inspected every inch of me, her eyes not giving away if she liked what she saw. Killing bad guys kept my body in shape, but it also left me with reminders from every fight. My skin inked in violence, covered in tattoos that would never wash away. Case was seeing every ugly bit of my past, reading every scar like a book she would discover how fucked up I was. It didn’t matter. I couldn’t turn back now. Hell, I was handcuffed to a chair, escaping wasn’t an option.

Case stepped closer, her hands reaching for me. Her fingers tracing my chest, slow and soft whispers of touch. Something so sweet shouldn’t hurt so much. Her fingers shattering my heart beneath my chest. It’s broken fragments spilling into my bloodstream like a rush of beautiful poison

Her touch growing bolder as her fingers pressed deeper into my skin.

“You’re killing me Case.” I groaned thickly.

Her eyes searching mine before her lips dropped to my chest causing me to moan. Throwing my head back I let her explore me, every touch, every kiss, every lick causing my cock to grow harder as it pushed against my jeans desperate to be free. My wrists twisted within the cuffs, rubbing the skin raw, the urge to pull Case down on my lap and let her fuck me any way she wanted overwhelming.

  *

Ending up between Thorn’s legs, my mouth taking over for my hands, dying for a taste. His moan rang in my ears, unlike anything I had ever heard before. I’m so used to nothing but the grunts and moans of monsters as they took their turn with me. My skin crawled with the sounds, disgust flowing through my veins. Thorn’s moan had transformed the sound into music, butterflies replacing the disgust, causing, even more, dampness between my thighs. Feeling his cock grow hard against my stomach knowing it was because had me drunk with my power. I couldn’t get enough.

Needing to see his face his I pulled my mouth from his chest to meet his eyes. The dark brown had faded to almost black, the glossy sheen of desire coated them, and I found myself unable to breathe, the air knocked from my lungs like a sucker punch to the chest.

Finding myself staring his soul, raw and untamed the look marking me as his and telling me he didn’t plan to let go. A beautiful disaster, Thorn was all I wanted. The man I needed. Reaching back, I undid the cuffs.

“What are you doing?” Thorn whispered, his hands staying behind his back.

Swinging my legs over the chair, I ended up in his lap. My hands taking him and entwining my fingers through his. He gave a sharp intake of breath as hands trembled in mine. Thorn was by far the strongest man I had ever met, yet he trembled with touch. Leaning in my lips so close to meeting his I waited.

  A breath.

  A heartbeat.

Then I jumped. My lips crashing against his in a desperate plea for him to show me who he was behind all the bullet holes and battle scars. Letting go of his hands, my arms winding around his neck to hold him close. His hands dropping to my waist as his lips dipped to my neck. A flutter of wings against my skin, tender and fragile things I wanted to capture so I could light my way in the darkness. Thorn didn’t push. Didn’t demand I give him anything more that was I was able.

  Instead, he let me fly.

  Chapter Five

“You know you have a problem right. This is the fifth night you have shown up here.” I glared at Selena as she sat at my kitchen table.

“I think you have become the stalker,” I mumbled.

Case and I had begun to make progress. Progress interrupted every time Selena showed up which had been every single fucking night. Every moment Case spent with Selena was one that I didn’t get. My time limited. Every day I saw my future coming for me. After I was gone, I needed to know Case would be okay. She was my last job. The only one that mattered to me right now.

If Val knew what I thought he would try to commit me. Lock me up until I came to my senses. I was ever the joker. The one that didn’t give a shit, except for killing and keeping myself amused. I am the one that that laughs the loudest but is broken inside. Every joke an attempt to keep up the act. Sooner or later nothing’s funny anymore. A clown so fucking tired of his makeup. Soon I would have nothing left. Only Case and the way she sees me beyond the laughs.

Starting at Selena, I saw dark circles under her eyes. Maybe I wasn’t the only one who was tired of their makeup. Lately, she had been acting differently. The last time I was at the club Val had told me she had stopped taking clients. Val tried to talk to her about it, but Selena had refused to discuss it. Selena’s secrets were buried far deeper than the rest of us. She coped by unleashing her darkness with the crack of a whip, but it seems that wasn’t working anymore.

“I’m just giving you shit. You know you are always welcome here.” I offered.

Selena smiled. “Glad to know I am welcome somewhere.”

Case reached over and took Selena’s hand. Selena welcomed the contact, her body relaxing ever so slightly.

“He’s back.” Like a hand grenade exploding the words ripped through me.

Selena met my eyes, the dark circles standing out like a stain. The mark of a ghost she had never been able to exercise.

  “For how long?” I fumed.

“Long enough.” Selena pulled her hand free from Case with a weary sigh.

“What do you need me to do?” I hissed.

If she needed him taken out, I wouldn’t hesitate. I knew plenty of ways to make someone disappear.

“Wait, what’s going on Selena?” Case’s voice was filled with notes of concern. Her brow furrowing as she sought Selena’s hand, grasping it tightly within her own.

Selena blew out a breath, and I knew she was debating if she should tell Case. Fuck, I was surprised she said anything at all. Usually, Selena’s lips were sealed.

“His name is Law, and we have a history. Most of it I wish I could forget. Some of it I wish I could relive all over again.” Selena’s voice broke, turning away as the memories held her hostage.

“Did he hurt you?” Case’s voice no longer held concern. Her eyes glowing as her skin flushed. Her free hand clenching into a fist by her side ready to slay Selena’s demons.

  “It’s complicated,” Selena admitted.

“It doesn’t have to be. Say the word, and he’s gone.” All Selena had to do was give the okay. Then it was game on.

“Down Thorn. You can’t kill him.” Selena quipped.

“Why not? He’s the reason for that scar on your face. I’ve told you before I wish you would have let me put him down a long time ago.”

“What?” Case shouted. Her hand dropping Selena’s before reaching over to capture Selena’s cheek.

  No fear showing on Case’s
face. Most people not daring to touch Selena, especially not there. The scar her scarlet letter, something not up for discussion and something she never let others touch.

My body tensed, ready to make a move if Selena showed any sign of reacting violently.

“He did this to you?” Case asked as her fingers gently trailed over the scar. Selena sat captivated. How long had had it been since someone had touched her with gentleness and concern? By her reaction, it had been far too long.

“He didn’t do it himself. He just wasn’t there to stop it.” Selena answered.

“And he should have been Selena. That was his job. To protect you. To take care of you and keep you safe. He failed, and you were hurt because of it. You deserved better. You still do.” I insisted.

“Thorn’s right Selena. No one who lets this happen is worth your heart. It’s never that easy, though is it?” Case sought out Selena’s eyes, something passing between them, a silent understanding.

“No matter what you have us. I could kick ass if I needed too.” Case smiled sweetly.

“I’d like to see that.” Selena retorted.

“You have people who love you, Selena. Don’t ever forget that.”

Selena’s face lit up at Case’s words. In all my time with Selena, it was a face I had never seen before. It wasn’t hard to fall under Case’s spell. Her heart still so kind and loving, even after everything she had lived through. She had a softness to her soul I could see Selena envied. She wasn’t the only one.

  Chapter Six

I have often wondered how my life would have been if things had gone differently if my sister hadn’t gone missing. If my parents hadn’t had to wonder every night where she was until the day they couldn’t do it any longer. If my whole life hadn’t been reduced to ashes.

Lost long ago, who I had been vanished the same day as my sister. Spending the remaining years trying to be what my parents needed me to be, but I couldn’t fill the void. I couldn’t be a replacement for Finley. I can still recall the flames, screaming for them not knowing it was too late. After the flames had been put out, I learned the truth. The fire was not an accident. The bodies of my parents were found with a single gunshot to the head. They had set the fire beforehand, taking everything that was left of her with them. I had nothing. No one to help me when I found myself surrounded by monsters.

Glancing up at Thorn as I tried to clear my head from the memories of the past. I think I had become somewhat of a stalker, monitoring his movements, so I knew where he was at all times.

“I am right here Case.” Thorn’s voice sounded in my ear, moving so fast I hadn’t heard him sneak up on me.

Goosebumps broke out over skin as he drove away every bad memory. Filling my head with breathless kisses in the dark, skin to explore until I had him memorized. Recalling him in perfect detail. Even when my eyes closed I knew him, my mind refusing to forget him even when I slept. Sleep came much easier now. I had dreams of him instead of nightmares. Thorn was my best day. The perfect sunrise in my world of never ending dark skies.

A soft brush of lips against my neck sent a beautiful rush of need coiling through my system. Until now Thorn always lets me initiate contact, but his simple kiss made me dizzy. His hands wrapping around my waist to pull me against him as another kiss landed on my neck, this time a little harder.

“Say the word Case and I’ll stop,” Thorn whispered.

“I don’t want you to stop.” My words sounding strange to my ears, my voice edged with desperation. I didn’t know myself. Thorn was changing me. Rearranging all my pieces until I wanted things that scared me.

His hands spun me around, his lips taking mine without restraint. My body pressed up against his as his cock made its presence known. Over the past week, I had grown used to it. Thorn would grow hard every time I touched him, and at first that was all I could think about. My anxiety would rise, but it slowly fading as I figured out he was a safe place to fall. Trusting he would never hurt me, that he would never make me do anything I didn’t want to.

Pushing my body into his, my thighs captured his cock as I rubbed my body against his. The moan that fell from his lips like sugar, sticky and sweet leaving me craving more. Moving again this time loving what I did to him. The way I could drive him wild without even taking my clothes off. The simple act of having my body this close to his enough to send him over the edge. Wicked thoughts rolled through me. What sounds would I hear when my naked body was under his? What will it do to him when he slides inside me for the first time?

  I felt powerful.

  I felt sexy.

  I felt wicked.

Breaking free from his hold, my hands tugged the dress I was wearing up and over my head. Pooling at my feet it left me in nothing but my pink lacy bra and panties. Blushing I took his hand.

“What I want to do requires a bed.” Tugging Thorn with me, I walked to the bedroom.

Once there, I crawled on top of the bed. Lying there wearing nothing but my lace pink bra and panties a flush creeping across my cheeks because of the pastel shade. All the things we were going to together seem like they required some other shade. Red or black. Something dark. Something dangerous.

“I think my new favorite color is pink.” Thorn declared, his voice husky. His words making me feel better with my color choice.

  *

Standing in the bedroom, I stared at Case lying on the bed in awe. Every curve. Every bit of skin. The pink bra and panties making her even more beautiful. The color bringing her skin to life and knowing what it hid underneath only adding to my desire. Lust crashed through me hard and fast. Up until now, I had been a gentleman, letting Case explore me without pushing her to do anything she wasn’t ready for and after she was done, I spent a lot of my time locked in my bathroom getting off to the image of her like some school boy. I hadn’t masturbated this much in my whole fucking like. When it came to Case, my dick had a one-track mind, fully committing to wanting her and no one else.

My dick stood at attention, ready and willing to give her whatever she wanted. If she wanted it to salute her, I would find a fucking way to make it happen.

“I want to see it all.”

  *

Hearing Thorn’s command, I wondered for a brief second if I could do it. Sitting up I saw his face, the look he wore pushing away all my doubts. Reaching for the clasp on my bra I unhooked it, barely made a sound as it fell to the floor. My panties followed, sliding them down my thighs, exposing my pussy to Thorn’s dark gaze.

“I’ve never seen anything so perfect. You are perfect Case. Can I taste you?”

The image of Thorn on his knees, his head buried between my thighs made my core clench. I could only nod. Laying back down Thorn gripped my ankles scooting me to the edge of the bed. I lifted my head up slightly to see Thorn drop to his knees before me. His hands gently parting my thighs further as his mouth closed in on my pussy.

Moaning my head tipped back as Thorn’s tongue took it’s time to taste me using slow and lazy licks his tongue dipping inside for a better taste. Thorn was in no rush to make me come. My hands slipped into his hair, pulling him deeper between my thighs urging him to go faster. He obeyed, fucking my pussy with his tongue. His fingers finding my clit to rub it in time with his tongue. I heard his name fall from my lips, the only thing I knew was him. Invading every part of me Thorn flooded my system like a drug. Digging my fingers into his hair, needing something to hold on to as I shattered like glass, coming hard and fast.

  *

I felt the moment Case let go. Her taste sweet coating my tongue. I drank every drop, consuming her pleasure like a fine wine. I was high on it, my cock desperate to sink into the warm heat of her pussy. My control breaking, but I refused to rush this, wanting to savor every second. It took everything I had to pull myself from between Case’s thighs. Her skin glistened from how hard I had made her come staring at me like a brand. A mark of what I had done, of how I had made her feel. I couldn’t stop staring. Case was beyond beauti
ful, and I wanted to keep her like this forever.

  *

Thorn stared at my pussy like he was seeing the face of God. No one had ever looked at me like that, especially in that area. With anyone else, it might have been strange, but with him, it was a turn on. If Thorn had found religion between my thighs, then I wouldn’t deny him. Opening my legs wider I let him get a better view. The act rewarded with a moan.

“You’re not playing fair Case.” He groaned.

Growing bolder I caught his face in my hands pulling him to me. My lips meeting his in a frantic display of need wanting more than his mouth between my thighs. Aching for something I couldn’t ask for as he pressed his cock between the v of my thighs. The taste of myself lingering on his tongue as he drove it deep inside my mouth. My hands reached for his zipper, fumbling with it not willing to break the kiss to see what I was doing. My fingers finally got it, my hard work rewarded as my fingers discovered his hard cock pressed against his boxers but once I made contact I froze. My boldness fading as fear tried to steal me away.

  *

Case went deathly still. Her lips stopped returning my kiss. Her hand unmoving against the outside of my boxers as fear tried dragging her back to the dark. I refused to let it have her. Case Bennet was mine.

I intended to change the game breaking her free from the shadows.

I would turn her nightmares into dreams.

  Chapter Seven

My hands sought Case’s face, settling on her cheeks to hold her close. Her eyes drifting towards mine and I could see her fighting the echoes of monsters that were desperate to keep her.

I opened my mouth and started talking.

“Do you know how scared I was when Val gave you to me? I felt you in my arms praying I wouldn’t hurt you. Until that moment all I had done for years was cause pain. I was a dealer of death, killing without thought. It was like breathing taking life after life ridding the world of monsters until I felt like one. Did killing them make me better? I’m not sure anymore.” My voice stalled. I had never told anybody what was hiding beneath the makeup. I had never told anyone how tired I was of this life. Confessing my sins to Case felt like freedom, a chance to share my life instead of running from it.
