"It was odd. The Montagues said we're the second couple requesting rings like these."

She shook her head helplessly. "It's a beautiful idea. Thank you."

"I thought it was time we had real rings and couldn't think of anything more fitting." For the first time, a hint of uncertainty crept into his voice. "I didn't want there to be any question as to my feelings for you."

"That's why..." She gestured to the box she'd had delivered to him, fighting to speak through her tears.

Huge, puffy snowflakes began to swirl downward, catching in her hair and on the ends of her lashes. He gathered her into his arms. "That's why you gave me tickets to the Anniversary Ball."

She nodded. "It's where it all began. It's where I fell in love with you. And where I first began to trust again."

He kissed the snowflakes from her lips. "I'H never give you reason to question that trust, Nikki. I swear it."

A smile slipped across her mouth and blazed with violet certainty within her eyes. "I believe you."

And peeking through the sliding glass door at them, their entire family cheered.
