My hips rolled at the memory of his breath. I had to use a pillow to stifle my desperate moans. When my legs clamped together and my face screwed up, even that wasn’t enough, and I had to use my arm again. It reminded me of the time earlier, and that only made me need it more.

I’ve no idea how long I lay wide awake and exhausted. When I woke, the sun was blazing off the river and into the window, and as soon as my eyes opened, I had to get up.

The shower helped me some, but I couldn’t face washing my hair and staring in the mirror for half an hour without some air and some coffee. All I wanted was to rinse and clean my body and freshen up my breath.

While my hair still looked like a hedge someone had given up on, the little skirt and jersey that I wore last night looked tarty. Probably too expensive for someone looking the way I did.

That had been my theory in high school, I remembered, about how some people can get away with things that look totally tarty on someone else. If your hair looks like it can’t afford your shoes? That’s going to be tarty.

The skirt felt a little tighter, but I didn’t want to be in the room anymore. When I opened the door, I immediately regretted my choice and thought I must look like a bag lady who stole the classy hooker’s clothes. The first thing I saw was Luka’s sad eyes.

His face brightened when he caught sight of me, though. I guess he was having a little fun at my expense. A tingle of frustration started low in my stomach.

  CHAPTER TWENTY

THE LEFTOVER CRAMPS I had from trying to sleep last night melted away when she stepped out, stretching and yawning. She was in the same clothes, but with no makeup on, and her hair was loose and natural, kind of looking like she woke up with it like that.

I know girls spend thousands of dollars to look that way, but Alexa was so natural. Every way I saw her, whatever new situation she was in, she looked like the real deal.

She covered a yawn with the back of her hand and said, “I need coffee, and I need to go shopping.”

Bruto snapped straight back, “I ain’t going shopping,” like it was an absurd idea. “Anyway, we got to brief up for tonight.”

She drew circles on the counter with her finger. “Tonight?”

“Tonight, when we’re meeting the Russians to plan the operation that Carmine has you masterminding. Don’t you remember? The operation that you’re going to run with your good friend Vassily’s crew.”

“Bruto, you’ve told me less about what’s happening than Tony did. And that’s saying something. I don’t know...” She hesitated. I saw her thinking ahead, and inside, I was urging her on. Don’t ever tell your enemy what you don’t know. Make them guess.

She told him, “You should assume that I don’t know anything that you haven’t told me.” Her eyes were hard as they held Bruto’s hot stare. “That way, there won’t be any misunderstanding.”

She looked quickly at me then, breathless. Her eyes shone. I wanted her there and then. I could have picked her up and spread her out on the table. Held her down and filled her up until she hollered. Pumped her full, then flipped her over and had her again.

She said, “I’m going out for a coffee.” And she turned and headed for the door. Without looking around, she called my name, like a command. Closing the apartment door behind us, I followed her out into the hallway to wait for the elevator.

My cock and balls were raging, and the hot throb was so fierce it was hard to think about anything else. We stood about six inches apart in front or the elevator door. I felt the heat of her body through my t-shirt.

Her voice was thick, wet, and cloying. She almost growled as she said, “I’m still going to fight you off.”

I said, “You’d better have a safe word, then.”

“It’ll be you who needs a safe word.”

  “Give me yours.”

Her chin jutted. She was still sleepy, but there was a fire burning in her eyes. Her hips rolled like there was a fire in her panties, too. “It’ll be something I’m just never going to say.”

  “Okay.”

“I’ll tell you it now, then you’ll never hear it again.”

  “Tell me.”

She leaned back against the inside of the elevator doorway. Her teeth pulled at the side of her bottom lip. “It could be ‘Tony,’ only that creeps me out just thinking about it.”

“So, what else do you think you’re never going to say?”

“I’m never going to say, ‘safe word!’ You won’t ever hear that again from my lips.”

“And that’s it? That’s your safe word?”

Her lips pressed together as she nodded.

  The elevator chimed.

  CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

HE STEPPED INTO the elevator behind me. I watched his reflection in the yellow of the polished metal door. He was staring at my ass. My knees shook as his eyes raked up my back. Wishing that he’d do something I chewed my lip.

Then, without warning, he grabbed me under my jaw. With his other hand, he slammed the elevator control panel. Hit the red switch that said, “Emergency.”

The car jerked to a stop and he came up close behind me. I felt the ridge of his cock press though the back of my skirt. He held me tight around my neck as his other hand came up my skirt. Between my legs. Cupped and gripped me through my hot, wet panties.

I remembered to fight him this time. I jammed and dug my elbows backwards, though he had me firm by the throat. I swung my leg forward to send a heel back at his groin. The sound of his chuckle sent shivers trickling through me as he caught my ankle.

He held my leg up so I had to lean against the cold metal of the elevator door to keep from falling. He yanked my panties aside and his fingers found me. Fondled me open. Slid inside me. Pulled me wide and made me gasp, low and long.

I struggled. Bucked my hips against him. I tried to wriggle free, but I couldn’t do much while he had one leg in the air. And damn it, the touch of his fingers made my body crave him and want to surrender. But I wasn’t ready to give up.

His bulging cock pressed through his denim against my swollen lips. He rubbed up hard against me, making me raw. Breath burst out of my throat in a grating sigh.

I shook and wriggled, awkward on one foot, one unsteady heel as I felt Luka pop the rivet buttons on his jeans, one by one. Slowly. He was cruelly methodical. I banged my pelvis against him as hard as I could. But that hardly discouraged him.

At last I felt his hot, hard flesh slide along my wet furrow. My knees shuddered and my stomach rolled. Fireworks exploded and burst inside of me as a loud squawk filled the car, like the sound of a crow trapped in a cardboard box.

I was lost in the sensation of Luka’s massive cock beginning to push apart my petals when I realized that the noise was a voice, coming from the elevator control panel.

“This is the building superintendent. There is no emergency on the elevator. Please flip the emergency switch back down so that I can restart the car.”

Luka’s cock scraped against me and I leaned on my elbows against the door.

The control panel crackled again. “Okay, you know that I can restart the car from here. I have to fill in a lot of forms if I do that. You might not want me to do that.”

I sighed as Luka shoved his huge bulb into my wings and the whole of my body shuddered as he engaged at my opening.

The speaker crackled, “You know there’s a camera in there, right?”

Luka growled in a fury and he pulled out as he searched in the roof for the camera. When he found it, he reached into his jacket. The voice said, “Everything is recorded, naturally.”

Luka was furious and momentarily still. The car jolted, and then it started downwards.

When the door opened, we were in the basement. A large man in coveralls stood with a clipboard. He had a badge that said, “Norman. Super.” Super Norman was about to speak when Luka grabbed the board from him and slung it backwards onto the elevator floor.

He loomed over Norman who, to his credit, did not
appear to be intimidated in any way. That probably showed more of a lack of comprehension than bravery on his part, but I liked him for it all the same. Luka said, “Take us to your office, Super Norman.”

He led us past the parking area, way down to the back of the basement by the boilers. As soon as the three of us were crammed into his tiny, hot cage, Luka said, “Now give me the recordings.”

That was when Norman appeared to realize that he was being menaced by a very much bigger man would have no qualms about beating him to a gel. A look of surprised panic came into his eyes. “I can’t give it to you, man. It’s on a hard disk.”

  “Where’s the hard disk?”

  “It’s in the server cabinet.”

  “Where’s the server cabinet?”

In the corner of the cage was another cage, and in that was a pile of dark gray boxes with red, green, and orange lights on the front.

Luka looked around and found a big, lidded bucket marked “Fire.” He lifted the lid and slung the whole bucket of water into the cabinet. The cabinet sparked and crackled. Some fizzes and a few wreaths of smoke came out.

Then Luka hefted the fire extinguisher. He asked Norman, “Is this good for an electrical fire?” Norman’s face was red as he shook his head rapidly.

Luka said, “Good.” And let off the whole foaming content of the extinguisher at the pile of boxes in the smoking cage.

I said, “That might not do much to a flash drive. I had a USB stick go through two whole wash cycles. Dried it out, hadn’t lost a thing.”

Luka turned to me. “Yeah, you’re right. Those old racks weren’t using any flash drives, though. The boxes all sparked up pretty nicely on the insides as well as out before I hit them with the foam. They won’t be coming back online.”

Norman blustered, “You’ve just disabled all of the control systems and security for the whole building.”

Luka said, “You going to tell anyone who did it?”

Norman told him, “I don’t tell nobody nothing about no one that comes out of Tony’s apartment.”

“Good. So, none of the cameras are working on the parking level now?”

He waved at his little nest of dark screens. “None of the cameras or security anywhere in the building.”

“Great.” Luka turned. “Have a nice day.”

I stayed to tell Norman, “Look, somebody’s going to ask what happened here. Tell them the truth, okay? Only say it was guests from another apartment.” I watched him nod quickly. I leaned a little closer to his face. Let my eyelids droop as I asked him, “You got one in mind? Is there an apartment that trouble usually comes from?”

Luka was impatient outside the cage. Just like a man, wanting to leave the scene of the damage as fast as he could. My hand told him to wait, that I’d be along soon.

Norman said, “Sure. There’s a place that’s rented by a couple of young finance guys on the top floor. Real assholes. They must have met every officer in the local precinct. The manager will believe anything of them.”

I asked him, “Will there be any comeback?”

He shook his head. “I don’t say nothing about what goes in or comes out of Tony’s apartment. I know Tony,” He looked up at me, appealing.

I told him, “We’ll get you something nice for Easter.”

He frowned. “I’m not a Christian.”

“Norman.” I narrowed my eyes and said firmly, “Haven’t we argued enough for this morning?” I put my hand on his shoulder and he brightened. He nodded energetically.

I followed Luka back toward the parking lot, hating his disapproval. Not because I couldn’t stand him to think badly of me, although for sure that did sting. More because he was being dumb and it annoyed me to see him that way.

“Luka, what would have happened if someone came and put Norman through it because he let the building’s IT get toasted? Supposing he hadn’t known what to say?”

  Luka was surly. “His problem.”

“Look, I know you’re an ass but you don’t have to be a dumbass with it.” I stopped walking. He turned to face me with his grin.

He said, “That sounds like something I would say.”

I ignored it, “Don’t you have any idea how dumb that is? You leave a little guy like Norman with a problem, he doesn’t know how to deal with it. Doesn’t know what to say. What’s going to happen?”

Luka shrugged. I slapped his face. “He’s liable to say the wrong thing.” His eyes blazed. “Imagine someone asks him about it. Suppose he thinks his job’s on the line and he lets slip something with the door number of the apartment.”

Luka shrugged again and looked down like a schoolboy getting told off. I slapped his cheek again. I tried not to enjoy it, but that didn’t work out. This time I connected harder. His jaw was like stone. My palm stung.

Still, I kept my voice flat and stern. “Maybe someone comes to the apartment, or slips a note under the door. A note that Bruto opens. Now, instead of us having a little problem with Norman, we could be walking into a big problem with Bruto.”

He was quiet. “It’s likely to come back and find you. Find me,” I said. “It would find us.”

“I’d deal with it,” Luka mumbled.

“Better to deal with it the easy way. Now.” I shook my head. “Now we’re a team, Norman and me, we’re a gang.” Was the angry flash in Luka’s eye a shard of jealousy? “You know why?” Luka’s head hung lower as he shook it. “He and I are a gang because we have a secret. Like I’m sure he had with Tony. Why would you make an enemy when you can stop and make an ally?”

We walked across the parking garage to his car. I felt his anger, and I was angry, too. This wasn’t how I had wanted the morning to go. The struggle in the elevator, that was thrilling.

Seeing him act so brutal and alpha with Norman had kept me hot. My thoughts had been on finishing what we started in the elevator. What he began when he busted open the door to my room last night. Was that really only last night?

It angered me to see him make such a stupid call. Leaving a man in a position to hurt us, to do us damage, when it was so easy to just show him we could be on the same side. Now Norman would be my friend, the way I was sure that he had been Tony’s.

Remembering the elevator, I was shocked at how wet I had been and how suddenly. Thinking about it now, I realized that, angry as I was, I was pretty wet right now. Luka was leading me to a black Grand Cherokee. A surge of my scent hit my nose.

Luka turned fast. “What’s your safe word?”

He lifted me. With the heels of my hands I clawed against his strong arms. My hips twisted as they were ground against the hard ridges of his stomach. His breath was hot and hard on my heaving breasts and I heard him say again, “Safe word?”

  I shook my head fast.

I said, “Don’t need one.” At the same time I kicked my heels against the hard globes of his ass while he hoisted me in the air and bent me back.

The sides of my fists beat down on his shoulders. He held me with one hand as with his other hand he pulled up my jersey and deftly snapped open the front clasp on my bra. I groaned as the cool air hit my bare breasts, and immediately his lips, his mouth, his strong, wet tongue, greedily devoured my sore, hardening nipples.

Grabbing his hair, I tried to pull him off me. A rage boiled inside me. I wanted him to take me, to consume me, but first I wanted him to overcome me. Completely. This felt so dangerous, and here in the open space of the parking lot.
