  Prologue

In the year 2075, the world was well on its way to being disease free, with the portents of also being a technologically advanced society. Only, Mother Nature had another plan, when the government discovered that the world would lose more than half its land mass to the ocean, they built the wall to keep it out.

Built to protect the rich and the privileged from the fallout of the catastrophic natural disaster that was likely destroying half the world, the city behind the wall was to be an elite society. The world outside the wall on the other hand, was left to the lawless. As the years passed, the city behind the wall created a class system that was only fair to those born in the upper districts. The Hillies, an elite class according to them, ruled the lower Slum class with fear of the being forced into the lawless world outside of the wall. Only the world outside had reset itself. It was no longer lawless, those who lived outside the city had created their own set of rules, ones that were made and enforced by outlaw bikers, who weren’t about to let anyone change the world they now ruled.

  Chapter 1

Derick “Trick” Tannon watched the prospect lean towards Katie Mathews, growling in anger. Damn it, what made that little fuck think he could lean into her like that? Trick wanted to walk out there and rip the little fuckers head off. For Sal of course, not because he burned with an ever present need every time he saw her.

He watched Katie lean back against the cage. She’d driven it here to get an oil change. The position made her strawberry blonde hair fall around her in a cloud of sexy disarray. Making him want to ring that little shits neck. He didn’t like that her firm little breasts pressed against the tight red top she wore, or that the prospect, who must have a death wish, leaned closer eyeing the firm mounds.

Trick growled, damn that girl had some nice tits. He really couldn’t blame the asshat for looking. He really needed to get a grip on the desire he felt for the girl.

Shit, he was almost thirteen years older than her. He was almost old enough to be her father, and yet every time he saw her, all he wanted to do was take her hard and fast, over and over. It was becoming a problem. He’d noticed that every woman he took to his bed looked just a little bit like her, and that was disturbing as fuck. He shouldn’t want her.

Trick’s jaw clenched as the prospect reached up to brush her hair away from her face where it had blown into her eyes. That was fucking it, he was going out there to kill that little son of a bitch. He walked around the counter storming out the door moving to where the two of them were standing. Calling out as he neared.

“Trevor,” his voice curt, his eyes met Katie’s when she looked away from the little fuck at him. She glared darkly at Trick, probably angry that he was interrupting her little flirtation. Too. Fucking. Bad.

“Yeah?” Trevor turned towards him, smiling.

“I need you to take a part over to Tick at the Dixon farm.” Trick grunted, watching Katie who glaring at him. Rock was supposed to come over later to pick the part up, he was headed out to the farm tonight. Trick would have to remember to call him and tell him not to bother, because he’d sent it with this stupid fuck.

“Sure thing, I’ll head out in a bit.” Trevor agreed then he turned back to Katie.

Oh, hell no, that little fuck was going, now. “Go now!” Trick growled at the man, livid that he hadn’t done what he’d asked immediately.

“Alright, no need to get testy. Where is it?” Trevor asked, moving away from Katie, finally. Trick felt the squeezing pain in his guts loosen.

“It’s in the back, ask Tiny.” Trick replied. The man nodded and walked towards the shop. Katie waited until he was out of ear shot before she demanded.

  “Was that really necessary, Trick?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” He moved closer to her until they were barely a few inches apart, wanting to grab her by the shoulders and kiss that smart damned mouth.

“That.” She said, motion in the direction of the shop.

  “What?”

“You know that you stormed out here to prevent him from getting any closer to me and we both know it!” Katie stormily uttered, wanting to grab the man by the ears and shake him.

“I needed that part taken to the Dixon farm, that’s the only reason I stormed out here.” Trick growled.

“Really? That’s funny because less than an hour ago I saw Rock and he said that he was taking it when he left in a few hours.”

“Well, sometimes plans change, little girl!” Trick growled, leaning towards her.

“You and I both know that the only reason you’re sending him is because he was flirting with me!” Katie yelled, her heart beating a hundred miles a minute with him so close to her. She’d wanted him desperately for over seven years, since she’d turned sixteen. She had been in love with the man for what seemed like forever. It almost broke her heart every time she saw him. She wanted to think that Trick wanted her as much as she wanted him, but she feared that he thought of her only as another little sister.

“I just want to protect you the same as I would Charity! You have no idea the type of man you’re playing with! He’s not one of those boys you mess around with out in Longville. You’re playing with fire with any man in this club! They’re hardened men, not boys! That means you can’t play if you’re not ready to follow through!” Trick roared, his mouth inches from her own, making her breaths come in pants and her heart beat loudly in her ears.

“Who says I don’t plan to follow through!” Katie screamed, so mad at him for telling her again that she was a little girl. He never forgot to remind her about the difference in their ages. He was an insufferable, infernal man!

  “The hell you say, girl!”

Tricks hands clenched at his sides from even the suggestion that Katie wanted to be with any other man, it made his guts twist into knots with the anger her declaration caused.

He was mad because of Sal, not he desperately thought, because the thought of another man touching her was like a hot knife stabbing into his guts. Sal was like family to the club, having owned the bar, Wink, for over twenty years. That was the reason why he wanted to commit murder. Not that it was another man, but because he was friends with Sal. At least that’s what he told himself watching her.

“Don’t make me call your father!” Trick roared.

“What the fuck, Trick? My father, really? I’m an adult, not a sixteen year old. Who I sleep with hasn’t been my father’s problem for more than four years! I’m twenty three, damn it! You’re just fucking jealous because I’m not flirting with you!” Katie wanted t
o pull him closer when she caught a whiff of the cologne he was wearing. Damn, even when the man made her insanely angry, she wanted him. She almost moaned, need for him almost consuming her, she burned with it.

“Stop cussing! Twenty three or not you’re still a little girl! Otherwise you’d know that idiot Trevor only wants in your pants, not a relationship. And I’m not jealous, that’s disgusting your half my age! I think of you as another sister and I don’t want you to be hurt. So, act like an adult and go home!” Trick ended with a growl.

He watched as her face paled when he said that the very idea that he could want her was disgusting. He wanted to take those words back, and then grab her and thrust her back against that truck and devour her mouth for days. He held on to his sanity by a thread, even though he felt like he was burning up with this need he had for her. She couldn’t ever know that he wanted her, or the crush she thought she had on him would end with him hurting her. He was too damned old for her, too damned hard. Turning, he stormed away before he grabbed her and kissed her like he wanted to.

“Bastard!” Katie screamed, after him. Tears filled her eyes, she jerked the truck door open, getting in, with her heart torn to shreds by his callous words. She wanted to cry, but knew that she needed to get away from here before she did or he’d see. She cranked the truck putting it in reverse and tore out of the parking lot.

She pulled into the drive to her and her father’s cabin ten minutes later with tears streaming down her face. She was so pissed and hurt she could barely breathe. He was an asshole! Why was she so desperately in love with that man? She’d been unable to get over him no matter how hard she’d tried for the last four years. Everyone thought that the reason she looked so run down and raggedly sad all the time was what had happened that night when she was seventeen.

Yes, she’d felt guilty over Buck’s death out at the falls from her dunking him into the water, which had caused him to get water poison, but she’d gotten over that in less than a year. She’d known it wasn’t her fault. She’d felt even more guilty because she’d only been out there with him to try and get Trick to notice she’d become a woman. That had upset her for a long time, but what made her look haggard all the time was the fact that she loved a man who didn’t love her back, and she wasn’t able to move on.

She’d been waiting for seven years, hoping that he’d decide she was someone he might want. She wasn’t even thinking of one day having his patch. That would be a pipe dream anyway. She just wanted one damned night in his bed to hold on to for the rest of her life. She could walk away then, and yeah she was probably in denial about that ever being enough, but she was willing to chance it.

Getting out of the truck, she slammed the door. She went into the house, glad that it was two o’clock and her father would already be at the bar. She didn’t need the questions he’d be asking if he was here. He loved her, but he made her crazy. Sal, was always asking when she was going to marry, as he put it one of those boys you’re keeping on a string. She wished she could just marry another man and move on with her life. Trick was never going to see her as anything other than his little sister’s old playmate, which was sad because she was obsessed with the man.

Entering her room and plopping down on the bed with a sigh, her tears were finally stopping. She hated that she was always letting that man do this to her. She couldn’t think of the number of times she’d cried over something he’d done. She almost hated him sometimes. He always seemed to be around making it harder for her to let go of the desperate lust she felt every time she saw him. Wiping her eyes with her arm, she stared at the little stars she’d painted on the ceiling when she was fifteen.

Looking at that left over from her childhood, she wanted to cry all over again. Why was she still hanging around here? She should move over to Bandit territory. Her father knew Death Rider, the Blue Bandit MC President, and he’d let her live in his territory, which would make Bone be okay with her leaving. Bone thought of her as his younger sister too, only he didn’t poke his large nose where it didn’t belong like, Trick.

Trick was always causing trouble for her. She couldn’t remember the number of times that Trick had run off a man before she could get attached. Not that it was likely it would have happened, but she would have like to attempt it at least. The man was maddeningly over protective when it came to Katie. She would have gotten hopeful that he might think of her as a woman if she hadn’t known that Charity, her best friend and Trick’s sister, was treated exactly the same by Trick. It broke her heart that he’d never want her the way she wanted him. Putting her arm over her eyes when she felt the sting of more tears, she wished things could be different.

Katie lay there fighting tears for several moments. Then sighed and stood ready to take a shower. Her phone buzzed in her purse, which sat beside the bed. Where she’d dropped it when she’d entered, digging it out, she answered.

“Hello?” Katie ran a hand through her hair as she sat back down on the edge of the bed.

“Did you talk to him?” Mary Ann, her other best friend, asked excitedly.

“Yes, he said he’d be there, but it might not be till late he had to take a part over to the Dixon farm.” Katie answered. That’s what she’d been talking to Trevor about. She was setting up a date for them at the bar tonight, when Trick had so rudely interrupted them. Trevor liked Mary Ann as much as Mary Ann did him. They were both a little shy about it, and Katie had been helping them by being the instigator. She just hoped that Trick was wrong and the man wasn’t just looking for a hole to stick his wick in. She didn’t want Mary Ann hurt by the man’s indifference if that was all he was after.

“So, you think like nine?” Mary Ann breathed.

  “That should be good.”

“You’re coming too right?” She asked, making Katie cringe a bit inside. She really wasn’t in the mood to go to Wink tonight. The things she did for her friends, Katie thought, standing, she walked towards the bathroom.

“Of course, I think a little later though he didn’t leave until around two thirty, and it will take him two and a half hours there and then back. So, I’d wait till at least nine thirty.” Katie said, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Seeing the mascara that was smudged, and her red puffy eyes and cheeks. That should give her longer to get this appearance under control too, she thought.

“Oh, I can’t wait! I’m so excited! And you’re sure he’s really interested not just being nice.”

“Yes, Mary Ann, I’m sure he’s interested, you’re all he could talk about the whole time we were chatting.” Katie assured her, smiling at her reflection.

Damn, she couldn’t believe that a woman who looked as beautiful as Mary Ann. Who had a perfect five six frame, with light hips and large breasts, could be at all unsure of herself. Katie on the other hand was a bit on the thin side, with smallish breasts and the only two things going for her, were her strawberry blonde hair and her blue-green eyes. Katie knew she wasn’t a beauty, her nose was a little on the large side and she wasn’t even sporting large breasts. Hers were just barely more than a hand full, and she hated the way her ears stuck out and the freckles across her nose, were horrid.

“Well, I guess, I’ll meet you at Wink at nine fifteen, how’s that?” Mary Ann asked still sounding as if she was unable to contain her excited emotions.

“I’ll see you there, hon.” Katie mumbled, hanging up.

She stuck her tongue out at her reflection, wishing that she was better looking. Or at least had larger breasts, so that Trick might show a little interest in her. Sighing, she pulled the shower curtain back, turning on the water to let it get hot. She stepped out of her clothes, getting in with a sigh.

Trick watched Katie tearing out of the parking lot, with an angry frown. That girl needed to slow her ass down. She was always driving like a bat out of hell, damn Aunt Mae. She was the one who’d taught Katie to drive that way, and having been an indie car driver at a much younger age, she only knew one speed. He walked back into the sho
p’s office. Seeing Trevor walking back out of the door to the bays. He smiled, as he walked by Trick.

  “I’m headed out now.”

“Alright, you can stay out there if you want.” Trick was feeling a bit guilty for sending the man all the way out to the Dixon’s. He’d only done it to keep the man away from Katie, but the next words the man uttered, caused his rage to kick back into high gear.

“Can’t, got a date with a pretty girl tonight.” Trevor walked past him as he spoke, opening the door of the shop. Trick growled, wanting to kill the man.

  “Where?” Trick demanded.

  “At Wink.”

“Better get going then.” Trick rumbled in a gruff voice. The man waved as he went to his bike. Watching the little prick take off, Trick heard the door to the bay open. He turned, seeing Tiny coming into the office.

“Why did you have Trevor take that part? I thought Rock was taking it.” Tiny questioned, with a puzzled expression.

“He was annoying me! So, I made him do it. I need to call Rock to let him know, that I sent it with Trevor.” Trick grumbled, turning, he moved to his cell phone that was laying on the counter by the register.

“Huh, Trevor’s not usually annoying.” Tiny commented, watching him closely.

Trick didn’t want to say too much, or Tiny would guess that he’d only done it to get the man away from Katie. Deciding that he needed to distract the man, he asked.

“You wanna get a beer after work at Wink?” He asked, grabbing his phone.

“Sure,” Tiny replied, still watching him. “Racheal’s going over to visit the baby tonight, so she won’t mind. Damn, that boy really pissed you off, huh.” Tiny asked, watching Trick. Who glared at him.

  “Yes, now get to work!”

“Hey, where did Katie go? I thought we were supposed to do her oil today.” Tiny was looking out at the parking lot with narrowed eyes.

“She said, that she’d bring it back tomorrow.” Trick muttered, turning away, hoping that Tiny didn’t notice that he was still piss off about the whole scene with Katie and Trevor.
