“Good.” Carvi grinned at me. “Because your back is hurt and I think you need some help healing it. And poor Quil’s going to need energy after being burned and healing like that.”

Blood rushed to my groin so fast it seized on the spot. “I…” I licked my lips. “I thought you said you couldn’t do anything with me while you were helping me because that would be a breach of trust.”

“I can’t do anything really sexual,” he said, meeting my eyes. “But I can help heal you, and if you and Quil happen to want to do stuff, well, I’ll get off on watching.” He switched his gaze to Annabeth. “Or I can give AB something she desperately needs before we get back to work on this case.”

AB’s breath caught, loud and obvious. “I, ugh, I…”

“Lea,” Carvi said, voice low, “slide off the top of your costume, just enough for me to get to your back. I can heal the bruises and give some of my energy to you, you can give Quil blood to help him, and I can watch. AB, I suggest you do as well.”

The tone of his voice didn’t say it was a suggestion.

I swear I could hear her heart racing.

“Carvi, not the time,” I said. “You’ll get enough action later at the clubs, I’m sure, but for now, we need to do this and do it fast.”

I turned my back and slid the sleeves of my costume down, pulling the cheap fabric down so my entire top was exposed.

“Lay on your belly,” Carvi said.

I kneeled and lay down without even thinking about it.

Holy crap on a cracker. How did he do that?

“Carvagio,” Quil said, voice showing strained patience.

“Fine, go in the other room. I’ll see if Annabeth wants to play doctor.”

AB whimpered as I pushed up to my knees.

“Carvi,” I said, looking over my shoulder, “leave her alone.”

“I will if she wants me to,” he said, holding up his hands. “No tricks, none of my magic. If she wants me, I’m here.”

“AB,” I said, “do you want to do something with Carvi?”

Her eyes flicked between him and me and she let out a shuttering breath. “I do.” She set her face like she’d decided something and nodded once, hard and strong. “But not right now. After we save these guys. After the crisis is over. After I save my fucking ex’s life and he still doesn’t want me, then I want you to make me feel better.”

  “Deal,” Carvi said, winking.

“Quil,” I said, grinning up at him.

He nodded and we walked across the lab, going into the back hall where the bathroom was.

We got in there and Quil locked the door behind him, staring at me.

  I smiled. “Yeah?”

He shrugged. “Carvi did have a point. You do expect men to come to you.”

“So you want me to come to you?” I grinned wider.

He shrugged. “It’s nice to be the seduced one sometimes.”

“I don’t think we have time for a full seduction, but… what about a quick one?”

He nodded and I walked up to him, putting my hands on his waist lightly, staring up at him.

“I’d kiss ya, but you’re gonna have to meet me halfway on that one,” I said. “Tiptoes only go so far.”

He chuckled and leaned down, kissing me lightly.

I put my arms around his neck, kissing with all I had, and he growled, thrusting into me and grabbing my butt, pulling me up fast and smooth.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and he set me on the sink, breaking away to rest his forehead on mine.

“Sweets,” he said, “I… we are in a hurry, but I feel like we need this.”

I nodded. “I don’t think today qualifies as a fight, not really, but I feel the need for some makeup sex, yeah.”

“Your back first,” he said, picking me up and kneeling on the ground, laying me down.

I unwrapped and he grabbed me by my hips, flipping me over very gently to keep from further straining my back.

Quil pulled my outfit off over my hips and down past my feet. He unclipped my bra, and ran his tongue up my back.

I made a small noise and he licked again.

The vamp saliva sunk into my muscles like liquified muscle valium, and I sighed in relief.

“I think I’m good,” I said, voice light. I pushed up on one hand to turn myself over.

Quil grabbed hold of my hips and yanked me up roughly, holding my butt against his front as I held myself up on my hands.

“Don’t turn over,” he said, voice low and rough. “Now that you’re feeling better, I want to take you.”

I wetted with that one sentence and nodded.

“Get down on the flats of your arms,” he said.

I did it without thinking, body shaking as he let me go.

I really did like the dominant male thing, didn’t I?

Quil’s zipper sang a warning and the thought made me tighten. There was a rustle of fabric and he grabbed my hips again.

“Head on the ground,” he said.

I placed my forehead on the hard tile, closing my eyes.

We’d done a lot together, but this was different.

This was more like being with Carvi, with him telling me what to do and me loving it.

His finger probed around my opening, feeling it out.

  “Quil, I’m ready,” I said.

“Tell me what you want right now,” he said.

I gulped. “Fuck me. Have me. Take me. However you want me.”

He chuckled. “I like that coming from you more than I thought I would.”

He shoved in, forcing past my tight opening and I gasped.

God, that force felt good when I wanted it.

He pumped into me, going fast and hard and I tightened around him, shifting my weight to one arm so I could lift my other and play with my front.

  “No,” Quil said. “Hand down.”

  I put it down, settling.

“No rush. No seeing how many times you can get off helping yourself. I’m doing this.”

His grip tightened on my hips and I gasped, settling my head back on the floor.

“I thought you wanted to be the seduced,” I said.

“Maybe next time,” he said. “Right now, I want to mark my territory.”

He rode into me, fast and hard enough to bump into something inside me at this angle.

If I wasn’t so turned on, it would’ve hurt.

Now? I was pretty sure it’d make me come. Which wasn’t easy from intercourse alone.

Everything tightened. I was right there. Right there!

If I could just touch myself, get some pressure on the front, I’d go. I’d go hard.

  “Quil, please!” I gasped.

He chuckled. “Oh god, say that again.”

“Pleasssssse,” I moaned. “I’m so close.”

“Then no,” he said, taking one hand off and grabbing my thigh.

  Hard.

  “Agh,” I cried.

“There we go,” he said, going faster, vamp fast, practically vibrating inside me, but definitely losing his rhythm.

“Tighten around me,” he growled. “Squeeze me as hard as you can.”

I tightened more. More than I thought I could.

He squeezed, pulling my leg up the tiniest bit.

  Changing the angle.

  Everything built. Almost there.

  “Come for me,” he commanded.

I seized, cresting and riding the pleasure, screaming it into the floor as I kept myself tight around him, riding it as long as I could.

And collapsed on my front, arms done.

“Back on your arms,” Quil said.

I nodded, inching them under me.

He went faster, no control, no rhythm, no holding back, squeezing me so hard I was half afraid he’d break something.

He screamed, spasming inside me, everything wet and warm as I looked behind me. His head was tossed back and his eyes were closed as his mouth worked and he twitched, pumping slowly as h
e worked his way through the long orgasm.

“Ah,” he finally said, pulling out.

I flopped down on the floor, legs frogged out.

“Push up on your arms a little,” Quil said.

I pushed up and looked over my shoulder at him.

“I’m not done yet,” he said, staring me in the eyes with a look that made my stomach tighten.

  Okay, I could go again.

“I need to feed, and I want to try something,” he said. “I thought since you told me about your past that you wouldn’t like such rough play, but you like it because of your past. You want to feel wanted. I should have caught on earlier.”

I chuckled. “I could’ve told ya. It just never occurred to me that you didn’t know that. I figure everyone wants to feel wanted.”

“Yes, but you interpret aggressive as wanted. Carvi had to tell me that.”

I could almost see him smiling with that tone and something was rustling.

“Don’t look,” he whispered, pulling something thick and colorful around my face.

  My costume?

He tied the rolled-up costume around my face, blinding me.

“Up on your knees,” Quil said.

I nodded and sat up on my knees, arms reaching out for something to press against.

Quil took my waist and rotated me around towards the sink and I pressed up against the cupboards, grabbing the top of one.

Quil pressed against my back and grabbed my hair, pulling me straight against him.

  I gasped.

He reached between us and lifted himself, laying it straight up against his body, and pressed hard into me, holding it there.

He yanked my hair, turning my head to the side, and kissed me, long and hard as he rubbed against me. With one motion he was up on his feet and grabbed my arms, pulling me to mine.

He placed my hands on the sides of the counter and bent me down, pulling my hair so my head was up.

Obviously staring at me in the mirror even though I still couldn’t see him.

He crouched low behind me and pushed up into me, and I made a small noise. He moved up and down, keeping the rhythm even in that position.

Without warning, he pulled out, grabbed me around the waist and picked me up, dropped me on the edge of the sink.

“Huh,” I barely got out before he plunged back in.

“Never mind,” he said. “Was going to do that slow, but… I don’t want to. Grab your legs.”

I leaned back against his hands and lifted my legs, holding them around the calf, up and bent so I was barely balanced on the counter’s edge.

I could feel it right there. I would’ve fallen if Quil wasn’t holding me up.

  Which was the point.

He held me tight, fingers digging into my back, and thumped into me, staying deep and holding me pressed up against him so his shirt rubbed my front.

He grunted and went faster, pulling back a little to get more power in his thrusts.

I relaxed against his hands, feeling the power of the arms holding me, feeling the way he wanted me in how he rode into me.

His lips were suddenly on mine and I opened my mouth, kissing with all I had, tasting him.

Quil pulled back and I didn’t have to be able to see to know what was coming next.

Sharp fangs plunged into my neck and I seized, coming hard with the added pleasure of the vampire bite. I rode it, letting the pleasure have me.

I released with a moan of surrender as it fell away.

He sucked on me, needing me.

That’s why I have such a thing for vampires, I thought as I sighed, letting my legs go and rest up on his shoulders as I placed one hand on his head.

I had a thing for vampires because no matter what, they’d always need blood. And psychic blood was better than normal human.

I liked them because I figured that’d keep them from leaving me.

Quil jerked, spasming inside of me with a soft moan of his own, and pulled back.

I took off the blindfold as he slid out of me, wrapped my legs around him, and stared him in the eyes.

“Yes, sweets?” he whispered, resting his forehead against mine for a moment.

“I… ugh, I just had an epiphany,” I said, smiling. “I didn’t know why I had such a thing for vamps, but now I do. It’s not just because I like biting, it’s because it makes me feel needed.”

He searched my eyes, peace from the great sex flowing from his face.

“No!” I said, giggling. “I love you and it is on top of sex, but I figured out why I seem to be attracted to vamps in general. But now that I know that, I also know I love you on top of it. Before, I just knew I had a thing for vamps and was wondering if it was the danger.”

I giggled again. “Oh Quil, I’m sorry. Epiphanies during sex aren’t exactly the best time, but, but I… I don’t think I knew exactly how much I loved you until I separated that from my thing for vamps in general.”

He shook his head, chuckling lightly. “I think I understand it. I like feeling needed too.”

“Do I make you feel needed?” I asked.

He paused. “Yes, yes, you do. I’m a little worried it’s because you’re so young, and you need someone to take care of you, but now, I know it’s more than that between us too.”

“I guess we both figured something out here,” I said.

“I guess we did. I love you, Ariana Kay Ryder. For everything you are.”

I licked my lips. “You know what, for the first time, I… I feel like I want to be more mature. I want to be better than I am. And I want to do it for you. Earlier, when I was throwing my hissy fit, you looked disappointed in me, and I think now I get why, and I don’t want you to be. You make me want to grow up.”

He hugged me tight against him and I snuggled into his neck, breathing him in.

  Chapter twelve

“I want to fuck so bad right now,” Carvi said. “After listening to you two go at it and not being able to join. Ohhhhhhh. It was painful.”

I looked over at him as he parked the car.

After we called Mender to tell her what had happened with the assassin, we left Quil to watch her and supervise the setting up of the bodies, and see what magic he could get to work on since he knew a few things.

And after our time in the bathroom, I could tell he wasn’t worried about me being alone with Carvi anymore.

It wasn’t just that he wasn’t worried about Carvi tryin’ anything anymore, which he said he wasn’t since Carvi didn’t try to join us, it was that he was feeling a lot better about me.

  It made me feel warm.

It made me feel at home.

“We’re here to find a suspect, Carvi,” I said. “I know Quil and I took a minute to ourselves, but please try to stay on task? Please.”

He smiled at me. “Yeah, yeah. It’s okay. I like the anticipation. And I know I’ll be getting a hell of a lot soon as they figure out how to get the power out of me.”

“I’m kinda surprised you don’t know how to do that,” I said.

He shrugged. “I know how to do it one on one like I do with you, but blood and saliva. But the levels needed to get all the men out at once so they all go when we break the spell? No, that will need to be stored, and timed perfectly.”

I put my phone, ID and some cash in my top and left my purse under the seat in the car.

We walked out of the parking garage in downtown.

The prices they charged for it were sinful enough to make the devil blush, but it wasn’t like we really had a choice considerin’.

I’d taken the time in the car to fix up my makeup so I looked decent.

Actually, if I was being honest, I looked hot. My outfit was back on and my boobs were arranged and on display again. With my quickly reapplied eye makeup and messed up curls, I looked like I’d just been in a tryst and was up for more.

Not really what we needed tonight since we were looking for a woman, but it couldn’t hurt if guys wanted to help us fi
nd her.

“But we’re on it,” I said. “And you put Jet in contact with your witch firm, so if they have anyone who can do this, they’ll find them and be up here soon. I like this. We’re… we are on this. We got this.”

I grinned as we exited the parking garage onto Broadway.

Broadway on a normal weekday could get busy, and on a weekend night it was nuts.

It was about five steps above that on Halloween.

  I grinned.

The streets were so crowded with every manner of costumed partier that they’d just blocked off Broadway for the night from cars so people could walk in the streets. The bars had gotten together to make one giant block party and did all the paperwork and permits or whatever for that so they even had it set off as a designated party area so people could wander down it with drinks in hand like in Vegas.

The neon blazed above, practically throbbing in time to the music blasting out of the dozens of bars lining the street.

The energy of it all hit me in a wave and buzzed through me, lifting my spirits with its power, like I could’ve sucked it in if I’d known how.

  Maybe I could.

I looked over and Carvi was grinning at me.

In my high heels, I was just a bit shorter than him.

“You can feel it too, can’t you, lea?” he asked, voice husky.

  I nodded.

  “Energy,” I said.

“Not just that. Life. Life begging to be let out. The loose, the repressed, the hungry, the free, the desperate, and the joyful. There are so many souls out there, searching for meaning. Searching for a connection. It’s intoxicating.”

He licked his lips, flashing fang.

I glanced down and he was straining against his slacks.

“God, I can taste them,” he sighed.

“I just realized I never took you out to downtown to party,” I said, slapping my wrist. “I’m a bad hostess.”

“You can make it up to me now.” He held his arm out to me. “I can feel that, Ariana. I feel you. Whatever your powers are, they go beyond mere psychic. You can take in energy the same as me. The same as Milo could. You are right now.”

“I thought that was just an extrovert?” I said, taking his arm.

He shook his head. “Extroverts gain energy from people, yes, and that is a magic in and of itself, but this is more than that. This is what I can do. I won’t be the only one siphoning energy off people tonight. I can’t teach you how to do it on your own this fast, but I can guide you.”
