War Bound

King Weylind folded the canvas back over the remnants of Farrendel’s hair and turned to Essie. “Is he still alive?”
“Yes.” As of a few minutes ago, at least. “I know that much.”
Essie gripped the strap of her gun, heat building inside her chest. The trolls had turned Melantha against her own brother. They’d organized several traitors inside Escarland and Tarenhiel. And now, they had Farrendel and would torture him.
She reached deep inside herself until she could grasp the connection she had with Farrendel. For a flicker of a moment, the connection snapped into place, real and alive and thrumming with a sense of Farrendel’s heart beating in time with hers.
But this time, she also caught a sense of blinding pain shivering beneath her skin.
No, not her pain. His.
Survive, Farrendel. Just survive.
The trolls had taken her elf, and she was going to get him back no matter who stood in her way.

Essie should be planning her happily ever after, not planning a war.
Although they once were enemies, the humans of Escarland and the elves of Tarenhiel have allied to fight the trolls from the far north. But alliances are tricky things even in the best of times, and with Farrendel, the elves’ foremost warrior and Essie’s husband, captured by the trolls, the circumstances appear dire indeed.
But Essie won’t give up, and she will make her two peoples work together to fight this war if it’s the last thing she does. One way or another, she will get Farrendel back, no matter what it takes.

In a magical version of Regency England, scandals abound, especially the magical kind.
Rosalie Klampton is the daughter of a naval admiral. Her father has never been right after his head wound during the battle of Trafalgar, and only Rosie’s determination has kept her family together and out of the poor house.
When her father tears down the ugly rose draperies in the country house owned by the elusive earl of Warnwick, Rosie finds herself in service to the earl. He has his own problems, mainly the spell turning him into a beast, the fact that all the magical scholars in England haven’t figured out a way to break the spell, and the scandal being a beast has caused.
It will be up to Rosie to help Lord Warnwick navigate the social Season and evade whoever put the spell on him in the first place. Between the scandals and the French spies, working for an earl-turned-beast may be the least of Rosie’s worries.
