MEETING DR. FEELGOOD
Kayla Banks
I’m a hardworking CEO focused on making my consulting firm a success and I had no time to look for love. But little did I know that a chance encounter would put me in the path of my destiny. My destiny came in the form of a sexy, yet arrogant and cocky asshole. With the uncommon name of Feelgood, I found he could live up to it as he proceeded to do just that, make me feel good. Make me feel things I never thought I would. I’d been hurt before and I don’t trust easily. I don’t know if I can or should let him in. How far is he willing to go for us to be together?
Myles Feelgood
I’m an orthopedic surgeon with a
private practice and full calendar. I’m too busy to sustain a relationship, let alone pursue a woman or fall in love. But in one conversation, she intrigued and challenged me. And I never walk away from a challenge. Her mouth said she wasn’t interested but her eyes, her body language and her walk said she needed me. She needed my kiss, my embrace, my confidence, and my love. I will have her, and she will love me. My mission is simple, make her discover that my love is everything she wants and never knew she needed.
~Prologue~
As my belly flutters from the subtle kicks of my miracle, I can’t help but think about how I came to be the recipient of his love. I never imagined that when I encountered him two years ago that this would be our destiny. Love wasn’t, at first sight, in fact, I couldn’t stand him. Being in his presence caused my blood pressure to elevate, and my anger to soar to an all-time high. You see our initial meeting was not a fairytale, but a disaster realized. He was cocky, arrogant and an asshole. And even though our meeting wasn’t their fault, I blame my best friends who are more like my sister’s. Had they not pushed Rachel and I to book that flight at that particular time, I may never have had to deal with him. And now as I sit here in my current state I’m reminded of not long ago when it soon appeared as if I was fated to succumb to Cupid and his damn arrow. Remind me to send the sneaky little bastard a thank you card.
~Chapter One~
Powell, Ohio
Two years earlier…
“Rachel, I don’t care how your pants are riding your ass. I’m not coming in there to look. Now, hurry up before we’re late. You are the slowest person I know. I’m giving you ten minutes and then I’m leaving without you.”
“Come on Kayla, give me a minute,” Rachel whined from her closet still searching for comfortable travel wear.
“Seven minutes Rachel, and I’m out. Our plane departs in two hours, and even though we’re only thirty minutes away, you know how traffic in Columbus will be at this time of day.”
Kayla had arrived at her friend Rachel’s house an hour before they needed to leave for the airport to find that she wasn’t ready. She wanted to grab something to snack on and get through security without rushing. She should be used to this behavior from her as they’d been friends since they were kids and Rachel Spencer was notorious for being anything but punctual. She should also know based on their working relationship as Rachel rarely arrived to work on time, as her consulting firm’s CFO. They had flight reservations to Orlando Florida where they would meet up with their friends, Reia Reynolds, Caressa Jackson, and Jocelyn Watt. The crew met in elementary school and had been inseparable ever since. While in the third grade at a sleepover, they declared they would attend college together and have annual girl trips. This year’s trip destination was a seven-day cruise, and they were looking forward to it. If only she could get Rachel’s ass in gear.
Approximately twenty-five minutes later, Kayla and Rachel were sitting in the worst traffic jam ever seen on Interstate 71, due to the multiple accidents. “See this is why I was trying to get you out of the house Rachel. This dang traffic in Columbus can be ridiculous,” Kayla grumbled.
“This is not my fault Kayla. I damn near had to suction those pants off. And I won’t even mention the scrapes in places where scratches could become a topic for the gossip spotlight on Wendell, I mean The Wendy Williams’ show.”
Laughing, Kayla told Rachel, “I don’t need the visual or embedded image. Your ass should have known that plus size girls have no business squeezing into the size eight pants you thought you could get into. Next time, save your experimenting for when you’re lying around, reminiscing about your pre-adolescent days. But anyway, are you looking forward to this cruise? Lord knows I am. This vacation is just what the doctor ordered. And catching up with the girls will be great. I can’t wait to see Jocelyn, Reia, and Caressa. It seems like it’s been forever since we’ve seen each other.” As a thirty-two-year-old CEO of her consulting group, K.M.B. Consulting, Kayla Banks had been working her fingers to the bone making sure her company was successful.
Rachel, no longer listening, stared out of the window as she began drifting off to sleep.
Kayla was contemplating how this vacation with her sisters from other misters would go in comparison to the others they’d taken.
By the time they arrived at John Glenn International Airport, they had to make a mad dash to check in and head straight to their gate. Good thing they’d paid for pre-check-in as it made the whole process smooth. When they were coming up to their gate, they saw a group of men laughing it up and having a good time. At this sight, Kayla’s excitement began to increase as she pictured the fun that awaited when they all reunited.
After clearing security and walking toward their gate, Myles Feelgood slowed down to check his phone.
This action caused his grandpa to grow antsy. “Come on Myles, it’s almost time to board the plane, and I’m ready to get this party started. Your overworked ass is long overdue for some downtime. And by downtime, I mean down yonder and between some open legs,” Grandpa Feelgood joked.
“Gramps, I appreciate your giving me this cruise, but I’m not thinking about women right now,” Myles gruffly stated. “I just want to recharge and unwind. The time that we spend together this week will be good bonding for us. But you know we could have done a staycation somewhere. Did we have to take a cruise? My phone won’t even work over there, what if my assistant needs to reach me?”
“Boy, shut up all that damn complaining. Your assistant needs to get a man and stop trying to make you her unhappy conquest. Its only seven days and her thirsty ass will be just fine without you. And don’t you think you need to change out of that stuffy ass suit. Damn, don’t you know how to relax sometimes? Go change now you still have time.”
“Fine.” Myles huffed walking off to the bathroom to change. He’d brought his comfortable clothes he just hadn’t taken the time to change into them.
After changing in a rush, he now wore a pair of black shorts, a champagne colored shirt, and sandals. He’d never admit it to his grandfather, but he was feeling more comfortable and relaxed just by switching his attire. “Ok, Gramps, does this work for you?”
“Yes, it does. The idea of this vacation is to relax and enjoy this time away,” Grandpa Feelgood said as he and Myles progressed toward the line.
Kayla was making her way toward the boarding line, but her nose picked up a scent that demanded her attention. Trying to be subtle in her pursuit of the person wearing the cologne, she slowly turned around. Standing across from her was an older white man who appeared to be in his early 70s. His eyes met hers, and he smiled while licking his lips the movement caused his dentures to shift with his lips. As a result, she busted out laughing in the man’s face, unable to help herself.
Distracted by the older man, she didn’t notice the younger man standing beside him until he began walking toward her with the gait of a panther. Oh, Shit, she thought once he entered her view. He walked with confidence, arrogance and an air of sophistication that she couldn’t stop staring at. This man would be capable of producing wet dreams for her. He stood between 6’2” and 6’4” in height if she had to guess. His eyes were a deep shade of blue reminding her of the late Paul Walker, although the rest of him reminded her of her celebrity crush Liam Hemsworth. His hair color was between tawny and gingerbread brown. His arms were straining in the confines of the shirt giving the impression of an animal trying to break out of its cage. And all she could think was, ‘I need to thank the Lord for this fine specimen, goodness he’s sexy. But damn, if he wasn’t looking so mean, we could make music and see where the melody could lead us. Humph.’
Kayla’s eyes never left the wet panty producing man, but she felt the need to apologize for laughing at the older man. “I’m sorry Sir, I didn’t mean to laugh but I wasn’t expecting your uh—shifting.”
“Well, you damn sure need to learn how to respond better,” panty wetter growled as he glared at her.
The older
man tried to break the rising tension, “Sweetheart, please excuse my grandson, he has a habit of wanting to defend me as if I’m incapable of doing so myself.”
Now feeling on edge and hearing the Delta representative call her boarding group, Kayla gave the glaring man the finger, smiled at the older man and walked away to board the plane.
Rachel had taken a call and was distracted therefore, she missed the entire heated exchange but noticed Kayla making her way to the plane, so she swiftly ended the call and proceeded after her.
Dr. Myles Feelgood had just come from the hospital after performing emergency surgery, and he was touchy from the extended operation as well as lack of sleep from running his busy practice. As a thirty-five-year-old orthopedic surgeon, Myles was desperately in need of this vacation. Although he was still feeling the aggravation from the rude woman’s treatment of Grandpa Feelgood, he proceeded to board the plane in hopes of forgetting the encounter.
As he watched her strut off, he wondered just what awaited him this week. At this thought, he had a glimpse of thick legs belonging to that rude woman being wrapped around his waist. And shit, her rude ass was beautiful. She was wearing a simple workout type get up, but the way the pants hugged her delectable backside caused him to mentally check himself before he got hard. And damn, he couldn’t help but notice how much her skin reminded him of pure honey. She would complement his height just right, as she appeared to be between 5’5 and 5’7.
Yet unbeknownst to him, he was about to learn just how even more uncomfortable two people could become when he noticed that the rude woman from the lobby sat right next to his spot on the plane. “Damn you Delta, and your assigned seating,” Myles grumbled.
