He gripped her waist and pulled her body flush to his. The bulge in his boxers pressed against the juncture of her thighs. She whimpered as the adrenaline from the fight was re-channeled. Her pussy grew wet. Her heart raced. Tendrils of hope sprang up from her soul. We can make it right

“Tonight I reclaim you properly.” He ran his finger down her back sending a trail of fire in its wake

The warmth made her knees weak. She leaned against him heavily

“That’s right, you were always such a fire slut, weren’t you?”

Goose bumps broke over her flesh

“You want this, don’t you, Night? Me to remind you who you belong to? Just like the first time when I broke you in.” He massaged her hips, sending licks of heat into her flesh

Her nipples pebbled, and she clenched her walls to relieve the ache that formed in her core

“Oh, I see it in your eyes. You need it bad, don’t you, baby? I’ll give it to you, but I need to hear it. Have you forgotten the rules? Surely I haven’t been so neglectful.”

She licked her lips and cleared her throat. “I want it.”

“There’s my good girl. What do you want?”

“I want you to fuck me, Lucifer.”

His eyes smoldered and he leaned forward brushing their lips. “Then that’s what you’re going to get. Because I always give my woman what she wants, don’t I?”

Her breath caught in her throat, and her vision blurred. He was back. The man she’d defied them all for had returned to her. “Yes, yes you do.”

“Go get on the bed, and let me see that ass in the air.” He squeezed her cheeks, and she moaned. “There’s my responsive girl.” He delivered ten rapid swats

Heat poured over her ass, and she walked to the bed as he released her, crawling onto all fours. Anticipation had her breasts heavy and her heart racing. Her breath came in silent pants as he walked over to her and trailed his hands over her ass, soothing the sting

“I love that ass, baby.” He nipped her ass, and she shrieked. “Love that scream too.” He massaged her ass with rough hands. “Spread your legs, baby. I need a taste of my pussy.”

She moaned. His possession pleased her, always had. She did as he asked

“Such a pretty pussy.” He rubbed his fingers across her wet slit. “So pink and ready to be tasted and fucked.” He circled her pussy

Eager for penetration she thrust back. His dark chuckled made her shiver

“You want more, you know what to do.”

She gripped the satin sheets in her hand and bit down on her bottom lip

“I can do this all day.” He shifted his finger, tracing light circles on her swollen clit

It was their game. She’d hold out as long as she could, and he’d continue his torture until she gave him what he wanted, her surrender

“Ah, I want more, fuck me, suck me, just don’t leave me hanging.”

“Done.” He moved fast. Sheets rustle. Her body lifted, and she found herself sitting on his face in the bed as he laid the length of the four-poster. “Ride me.”

He pushed his tongue inside her adding his own special brand of heat. She tilted her head back and screamed. He brought his hands up, and she linked their fingers using him as balance as she rose and fell on his thick tongue, using it like she would his eleven inch dick. Nothing her husband did was in small measures. He pushed his tongue past speeds a human man was capable of achieving. The pressure built inside her. She rocked faster

“Yes, Yes, I’m going to come.”

He hummed tumbling her over the edge, and she toppled into the darkness with stars in her eyes. When she came back to herself, she rested on her side across from Lucien

“My turn. On your knees.” She forced her limbs to obey and crawled on all fours. “You rode me and now I’m going to ride you.” The sound of his hand stroking his cock produced a fresh rush of cream

“Fuck, I can smell you, Night.” He trailed his fingers down her back. “You ready for me?”

  “Shit, yes.”

He chuckled and thrust home lifting her body off the bed. A scream ripped from her throat. Her walls trembled taking him in, adjusting to his girth. It’d been so long since he fucked her like this. He gripped the back of her hair and tilted her head back

“You sure you’re ready for this, Night? Maybe you’d rather have it like this.” He slowed his pace moving in and out, teasing her

“No. I want you to fuck me. I’m ready, please.”

  “That’s my good girl.”

He placed his arms on either side of her body, blanketing her as he pressed her down into the bed. His first push forward had her cervix crying out for mercy and more at the same time. She met him stoke for stroke, grinding back into his pelvis. The sex was pleasure, pain, and dirty rolled into one. Everything she needed to remember she was alive. He bit the back of her neck, drawing blood. She jerked against him, putting his dick into a headlock and he lapped at her neck, taking her essence into his body

  “Fuck, yes,” he growled

It was a battle with no true enemies. Their bodies were weapons as they purged the past betrayal. They’d always liked it rough, but there was a hint of punishment mixed into their play today. She took it because she deserved it, and she wanted to be cleansed of the guilt. She bit down on the inside of her cheek tasting blood. Her body shook, and her walls tightened

“I’m going to come. Come with me,” Lucien rasped in her ear

The bomb they’d been assembling blew, and she clamped down on him. He roared filling her with his heated lava. The burn felt right. Her legs gave. She collapsed face first onto the bed, spent, and reborn in the fire her husband commanded

He pulled out, and she whimpered, already missing the feel of him inside her

“Don’t worry we’re not done for the night.” He ran his hand down her back

“I want you here with me all the time, Night.”

“I’m not leaving Purgatory, or our daughter.” Irritation broke the bubble of afterglow.

“I didn’t ask you too. Heavenleigh has Yophiel now, and there’s no reason for you to live alone.”

“Wait. You want me to move back in?”

  “Yes, permanently.”

“And I can come and go as I please?”

“Yes, I’ve told you, the time of me ruling over you is finished.” He shook his head. “Didn’t I say the past was better left there?” He ran the back of his knuckles down her face

  “I didn’t say anything.”

“You didn’t have to. It’s written in your eyes.” He cupped her chin. “If we’re starting over we have to do it without one foot in the past.”

“I know. It’s not that easy.”

“What’s so hard about it, Night?”

“I deserve more punishment for what I did. So many people suffered. I look at you, and you’re practically handing me forgiveness on a platter. Why?” she whispered. “I know you. You can hold a grudge.”

“You’re not just anyone. You must know that.”

“Which makes it worse.” She bowed her head. Tears sprang to her eyes

“Night, look at me.” He grabbed her chin and forced her gaze up to his. “You did what you had to do. I understand that now. I wouldn’t have then. I spent a long time hating you for it. I wanted you to suffer, but I didn’t come for you because I didn’t think I could handle being the one to end you. Despite everything, I still love you. But I didn’t want to seem weak. So I waited. Or at least I told myself and everyone else that’s what I was doing. Waiting for an opening. Waiting for the perfect opportunity. In reality, I think the only thing I was waiting for was you to come back to me. What we have between us is insane, frustrating, rare, and against all odds. I also know its forever. If you run again, I will chase you, I will capture you, and I will bring you back to me, do you understand?”

Smoke drifted out of his mouth, and she shivered. There was something about a man who could play with fire and never be burned. “I d
o.”

“Good, now give me that mouth and stop borrowing trouble.”

  “B—”

He grabbed a handful of hair, and pulled her lips to his. The minute he slipped his tongue into her mouth she was lost. Her arms wrapped around his neck, and she felt him smile

“I know how to shut you up.”

  “Asshole.”

“You know I love it when you talk dirty to me,” Lucien said making her laugh. Here was the man few knew existed. “Look at me, hear me, and believe it. You and I are in this for good, and we’re going to be fine.”

She took a deep breath and nodded. “We’re going to be fine.” She paused. “We need to check on Heavenleigh.”

“Later, trust me right now she’s just as occupied as we are about to be.” He pressed their foreheads together. “I love you, Night.”

  “And I love you.”

Their love wasn’t perfect. They’d never fully see eye to eye, and he’d make her want to pull out her hair on a daily basis, but he owned her heart, and she owned his, and there wasn’t a damn thing either of them could do about it. Some people were meant to find the cures, lead their people to the Promised Land, or fight for God, striking down the enemy. She was meant to love Lucifer, and be a bridge along with her daughter. She’d never speak of the vision she’d been struck with as the battle come to a close, but she’d hold it in her heart forever. This family’s work wasn’t done by a long shot.

  Chapter One

Heavenleigh remained in the Jeep parked in her mother’s driveway, unable to move forward as nerves hit her like a bomb. She hadn’t caught more than a few moments alone with her mom since the battle in Hell. Lucifer, better known as Lucien to those close to him, had been busy refortifying his stronghold and her mother had been at his side every step of the way, leaving her to run the family business

Heavenleigh loved Purgatory, and she was happy for her mother’s newfound lust for life. It was her father, Lucifer, she was still on the fence about. It seemed bizarre that the ruler of Hell would have as soft spot for the fallen angel who’d betrayed him. Even if she was his wife. She’d learned over the years, friends could easily become enemies. It left her weary.

She cherished her mother. The woman had her faults and made her mistakes. But she always took care of her and put her first. Not every mother did that

  “You’re nervous,” Yophiel said

“I’m concerned. What if this is just a game to him?” She glanced up and met his concern- filled blue eyes. “A clever yet cruel way to break her down and pay her back for all the grief she caused him?” Images of her mother looking destroyed danced around in her head like ballerinas at a ballet. She toyed with the frayed material around the hole in the knee of her jeans.

Yophiel arched an eyebrow. “You think your father is capable of doing something like this to your mother?”

“He’s Lucifer, so yes.” She nodded her head. “Please don’t tell me you’re going to take his side.” Her gut tightened. He placed his large hand over hers, stilling the picking she was doing to her pants. His warmth seeped through her skin.

Yophiel frowned. His brow creased. His dark eyebrows drew down like raven’s wings, almost forming at a point. His blue eyes darkened

The urge to cover her ears struck. She knew that look. It meant he was about to get deep and tell her something she probably didn’t want to hear. Honesty was one of his best and worst qualities

“While I understand your reluctance, I must disagree.”

“And why? You have an inside tip I don’t know about?” Heavenleigh muttered

  “An inside tip?”

The inquiry made her smirk. Her angel still had much to learn. Months after falling to earth to protect her, he still managed to maintain an almost childlike innocence. Her heart swelled. She turned in her seat to face her miracle. Despite her dual nature, he loved her enough to stay and share his grace, balancing out the demon blood that had constantly battled the angel D.N.A. she’d inherited from her mother. “Knowledge I’m not privy to.”

“No, I do not know any secret.” He shook his head. “I would’ve told you, if only to put your mind at ease.”

“I know, Angel Man.” She cupped his cheek. “I’m listening now.”

“Had he not truly loved your mother, she would never have left Hell and been undiscovered for so long. It was against his nature to let her walk away unscathed. He’s tortured and imprisoned others for far less. Have you stopped to think about that?”

She scowled. “Okay, you have a valid point. But if I trust in his sudden change and I’m wrong? It’ll feel like I let my mother down. She spent so much of her life protecting me. I feel like I owe it to her to remain guarded.”

“Tell me, what good will your suspicions do?”

“They’ll make me feel a hell of a lot better, for one.”

“Your mother has known him far longer and better than even I. Perhaps, we should place our faith in her?”

“I see what you did right there, Angel Man. Smooth move.”

  “What?”

She shook her head. The man worked magic without trying. “Told me to mind my business nicely and reminded me that my mother is an amazing woman, capable of making her own decisions.”

“Ahh. In that case, yes, exactly.” He smiled

Heavenleigh laughed. “Come on, let’s get this over with. I feel my father will have a few choice things to say about our recent engagement.” Daddy dearest hadn’t seen her since the battle

  “He doesn’t know?”

“No, my mother said it was up to me to tell him.”

Yophiel swallowed. “His temperament can be quite unpredictable.”

  “Yeah, fiery, like his kingdom.”

  “And his daughter.”

She smirked. “You really do learn swiftly.” She opened the door and climbed out of the black Jeep. He met her at the front of the vehicle and together, they made the short walk to the porch. They stepped off the last stair onto the porch and the front door swung open

“Well, if it isn’t my cradle-robbing brother with my daughter. I wondered when you’d show your face next.”

Her jaw dropped. Is he seriously pulling the overprotective Dad routine?

  “Brother,” Yophiel said, nodding

“Come in, your mother is waiting in the living room,” Lucien prompted. He stepped back from the door and allowed them to enter. The ruler of the fiery kingdom seemed to be acting very polite.

Emotion swirled through her body—anger at the way he just stepped in like he’d always been there and happiness that he’d claimed her and played his role so effortlessly. Growing up fatherless was hard, especially in a supernatural community where most treated you like a pariah. Analyzing the potent brew bubbling up, she bit her tongue. She was halfway to the stoop when Lucien growled

“Someone want to explain the frosting you’re rocking?” her father asked

“That is why we came to see you, brother. I have asked Heavenleigh to marry me and she has consented.”

Silence descended like a thick, black shroud

Heavenleigh held her breath and slowly turned to see her father. Smoke drifted from his nose. She forced her muscles to remain loose as she watched him closely, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice. Yophiel didn’t deserve to be caught in their family dysfunction

“My daughter, the princess of Hell, wants to marry a fallen angel?”

“Yes, I do.” Heavenleigh lifted her chin, ready to defend her option

Lucien threw his head back and laughed. “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it? I’m many things, but a hypocrite isn’t generally one of them. If my brother makes you happy and you wish to join your lives together, I support
you.” His expression grew dark. Puffs of smoke escaped his nostrils and his mouth as he stared at Yophiel. “If you hurt her, the suffering you’ll experience will be unrelenting and unlike anything you’ve ever known.”

  “I understand,” Yophiel answered.

“Then we have an accord. Now, I must insist you hold the ceremony in Hell in lieu of all the recent uprisings.”

“Wait.” Heavenleigh held up her hand. “You expect me to get married in Hell?”

“Why not? You were conceived there.” He shrugged

She opened her mouth and closed it. What he said made sense…but Hell?

“It’s not all fire and brimstone,” her mother interjected as she rose to her feet in a flattering black dress that paired perfectly with her father’s expensive black suit

Is this the woman she was before me and Purgatory? She’d always had a commanding presence, but this was regal

“It can be whatever your father wishes it to be. For you, I believe he could create something extraordinary.” Her mother placed a hand on her arm

“You agree with him?” Heavenleigh asked, trying not to sound like a petulant pre-teen.

“Yes, I want you to enjoy your day. In Hell, we would be able to control everything and make sure everything goes off without a hitch.”

Heavenleigh took a deep breath. Her life had never been normal. Why would her wedding? She glanced at Yophiel. “What do you think, Angel Man?”

“I believe their reasoning to be sound. I would not wish anything to happen to you. Still, I leave the final say to you. Being married to you will be gift enough.”

His words melted her insides. He’d pulled her from the high tower she’d lived in while always enclosed in ice and showed her feeling didn’t always mean pain. For him, she’d get married anywhere. “Okay, Dad. We accept your offer. But we don’t want to wait. Life is far too short for that.”
