Sun, Surf and Sex on a Beach

She grinned. “I’ll be right back.” She turned towards the door to the ladies restroom. She’d barely taken a step when his arm flew forward and captured her wrist.

“Is it me, or are you getting more hard headed?”

Michaela looked over her shoulder and winked. “Nope, I’m just getting better at reading you. I know when you’re just blowing steam now.” Funny, how two and a half weeks of no holds barred sex had given her that insight.

Both eyebrows lifted at her statement. Unable to help herself, Michaela stepped back, stood on the tips of her toes and kissed Donovan swiftly on the mouth. “I need to go to the ladies room, and you’re not a lady.”

He groaned and pulled her closer. “I’ll check it out and then leave you to take care of yourself.” Michaela shook her head in exasperation and allowed herself to be guided into the restroom. After a thorough and embarrassing examination of the restroom, Donovan found that there was no one in the stalls waiting to jump her. “Okay. Bye.” She pushed him out of the restroom.

When Michaela stepped out of the stall, she found that she was no longer alone in the restroom. A woman was stopped over one of the sinks washing her hands. She grinned at the sight. Apparently she didn’t appear dangerous or Donovan wouldn’t have let her into the restroom. Her grin widened as she thought of Donovan keeping out a woman determined to relieve herself simply because she might be a danger to Michaela’s safety.

The woman glanced at her just as she reached the second sink. Michaela nodded at her, bent over to press the soap dispenser and dropped some into the palm of her hand. She washed her hands and was just reaching for the paper towels when she felt a cold chill against her back. She started to ignore it, to pretend it was just a breeze, but the feeling was so insistent she had to heed its warning and turn around. She gasped in surprise when she saw that the woman held a small gun in her hand. The fluorescent light bounced over the silver metallic tone making the weapon appear all the more frightening.

  “What the—”

“Shut up. You have no right to talk to me. What you’re doing is wrong, and you don’t even care.”

“Look lady, I don’t know who you think I am or what you think I’ve done, but I’m not the woman you’re looking for.” Even as she spoke, Michaela considered her options. There wasn’t anything she could use as a weapon in the bathroom. The best she could do was use her relatively heavy purse and knock the woman off balance. Damn it, where is Donovan when I need him?

“I know exactly who you are, Doctor Jameson, Michaela S. Jameson. There’s a reason why certain animals are extinct and others aren’t, but you won’t listen to Darwin or me. You ignored all my letters. Now it’s my turn to ignore you and your pleas for mercy.” She lifted the gun and Michaela made her move.

She swung her purse with all the force she had. It hit the woman in the shoulder and knocked her a step to the left. The simple misstep made her loosen her grip on the gun and she lowered it. Michaela charged forward with an upraised elbow. It hit the other woman mid sternum and she fell to the ground with Michaela above her. As they fell to the floor she yelled for Donovan at the top of her lungs, knowing he waited for her outside the ladies room door.

At the sound of her screaming for help, the woman began to struggle in earnest. Just when Michaela feared she was losing her grip on the madwoman, she heard Donovan.

“It’s okay, Jameson. You can get off her now.” To the woman he said, “I’ve got a gun trained on you, I don’t suggest you try anything.”

Michaela got off the woman, attempted to stand, but decided her legs couldn’t hold her and leaned against the porcelain sink. Breathing heavily she watched as the woman moved to stand before Donovan, her hands up.

  “Call the police.”

Michaela picked up her bag, which was only a few feet from her, rummaged in it for her cell phone and dialled the number. She was very thankful that Donovan had entered the emergency numbers despite her opposition.

  “Why did you attack her?”

In response, the crazy bitch went on a long tirade about Michaela’s blasphemous experiments and how her actions ignored evolution and what the process meant. Despite Michaela’s intelligence she didn’t understand much of what the other woman was saying, but she knew the woman was the psycho the company was worried about.

One down, she thought as she relayed the information about the incident and their location to the city police. Once assured that help was on the way and would be there quickly, she hung up. She glanced at Donovan. He did not look pleased.

“Go ahead and say it,” she muttered as she attempted to straighten her clothing.

  “I told you so.”

“I don’t think he’ll ever let you out of his sight again.”

“That might be hard considering I don’t live here.”

Cliff cut her a sharp glance. “Is that your answer, or are you still looking over the proposal?”

She evaded his searching look. “Forgive me, but I’m going to sit down. I’m exhausted.” Just as she finished her statement she yawned.

“Sorry, I wasn’t thinking. Aren’t you resting while you’re here? I know the conference just ended, but you should be getting at least eight hours of sleep every night. You don’t have much to do at the end of the day, but sleep.”

“And still I’m not getting much of it.”

“You might want to see a doctor.”

She giggled. If the man knew she wasn’t sleeping well because Donovan kept her up half the night, he’d kick Donovan’s ass and then fire him for touching her. “I’m fine, Cliff. Really, I am.”

He sighed in that exasperated way that told her he had no idea what to do with her. After running a hand through his greying locks he walked over to the bed, kissed her on the forehead and murmured a goodbye. “Rest,” he said over his shoulder before closing the door behind him.

Michaela had just snuggled into bed when Donovan softly opened the door. She peeked over the covers to see him quietly making his way into the room. Admiring the way he moved with fluid grace and utter masculinity, she didn’t realise he was watching her just as intently until he said her name. “How are you feeling?” he asked.

“Lonely,” she supplied and patted the empty region to her right.

“You almost gave me a heart attack today.” The guns came off first. He placed them on the nightstand on his side of the bed. Over the last few days they’d started thinking of her bed as theirs and his bed as an extra. At least she had.

Then he deftly unbuttoned his dress shirt and dropped it to the floor and all thoughts that weren’t centred on his body left her mind. Her mouth watered for wicked things. Michaela considered asking him to go shirtless more often and then discarded the idea. She didn’t want other women looking at what belonged to her.

And Donovan was hers, at least until she left in three days. “I leave on Thursday.”

  “I’m well aware of that.”

She moved deeper into the sheets. She didn’t know what else to say. He hadn’t given her an opening and she couldn’t think past the fact that she’d be leaving soon and he wouldn’t be coming with her.

Michaela blinked furiously as her eyes started to ache. With a mental groan she realised she was on the verge of crying. Somehow, she’d let her vacation fling become something more. Without realising it, she’d fallen in love with Donovan Kelly, a man that was both sweet and overbearing.

The comforter she’d pulled up to cover most of her face was snatched away. “Stop thinking.”

She glanced in surprise at Donovan, shocked by the emotion she heard in his growled tone. “Donnie, I—”

He cut her off before she could finish. “I know what you’re thinking, and there’s no need to go there. I’m more than willing to try a long distance relationship. Plus, you don’t leave for another three days.” He gave her a tender smile that lit up his eyes. “I’m sure I could find a job protecting someone in Illinois. Someone in Chicag
o has to need an experienced bodyguard.”

  “You would move for me?”

His smile widened. “I know it’s hard to believe but I love you, Jameson, and you love me too.”

She nodded her head as tears fell from her eyes. Arms high she reached for him and he allowed himself to be pulled into her embrace. It was just like Donovan to tell her how she felt, and he was right. “I do love you, Donnie, and there’s no reason for you to move. I’ve been offered a job with the Sydney office. I’m going to take it. I just needed a reason to, and you’re more than reason enough.”

“Damn, Jameson, if that isn’t the sweetest thing you’ve ever said,” Donovan groaned, cupped the back of her neck and kissed her. Her lips parted on contact. The velvet warmth of his tongue plunging into her mouth sent hunger sluicing through her body. Michaela felt her nipples tighten and her sheath moisten, demanding attention. Every time he kissed her it was like drinking a bottle of hundred proof alcohol. She became intoxicated with him.

He broke off the kiss and leaned his head against hers. “God, Jameson, you go straight to my head.”

She laughed softly. “I was just thinking the same about you. You know, when I first came here, I was prepared with a list of things to do.”

  “Yeah?”

“Oh yeah. I told you about enjoying the sun, surfing, and the nightlife, but what I didn’t tell you about was the sex on the beach requirement.”

He looked at her with a mixture of disbelief and joy on his face, like she’d lost her mind and he loved it. “What am I going to do with you?” he whispered and kissed her head.

When he pulled back, she looked into his eyes and smiled. “Want a hint?”

His gaze darkened with wicked intent. “Oh, we’ll definitely be doing that” he rumbled out, his voice thick with desire. She pressed her body to his and was rewarded with a groan of pleasure. “Strip now,” he ordered as he pulled down his slacks and lowered his zipper to free his aching cock.

Michaela quickly complied, shimming out of her skirt and pulling off her tank top. Her delicates followed immediately.

“I’ll say it again. You are beautiful.” Donovan stood beside the bed, staring down at her for a moment, before slipping into it, pulling her and stealing her lips in a kiss.

The look in his eyes as he spoke, the emotion in his words, it was all enough to pull her to him, and when Donovan took her into his arms, Michaela felt a tight shiver of desire run through her limbs. When he broke the kiss, she slipped out of his arms to move down his body, placing kisses against his chest and then abdomen as she went.

“I love being with you.” She placed at light kiss between his pectorals. “I love fighting with you.” She placed another one high on his washboard abs. “I love the fact that you argue with me instead of just assuming I’m right.” This kiss landed just above his belly button. Unable to help herself, Michaela lightly nipped him. “Most of all I love the fact that you think I’m worthy of your love.” She whispered the words as she held his gaze.

He sat up and reached for her, pulling her until she was lying against him. “God, Jameson, I’m the one who’s not good enough for you, but I refuse to give you up. You’re mine.”

“Yes.” Nothing had ever sounded sweeter to her ears. For so long she’d worried about finding the man that would complete her. She’d tried online dating, blind dates, and even followed some of the rules that a few books on dating proscribed, but those few times she captured a guy’s interest they ran off when they found out what she did and the number of hours her job required. She was well aware that she’d become embittered over the years from constant rejection. She knew looking into Donovan’s eyes that she didn’t have to worry about going through that with him. He’d always stand by her side, hell or high water.

“Jameson?” he groaned and shifted. The act was slight, but it was enough to press his erection against her lower abdomen.

“God, yes,” she replied and reached for the box of condoms she’d purchased earlier in the week as her breathing deepened and her focus shifted to the man beneath her.

She held the foil in her hand and looked deep into Donovan’s eyes. “I want to do something for you.”

He swallowed thickly. “Okay.” His voice was deep, dark, and sweet, like molasses. It went straight to her sheath, sending ripples of pleasure there that had her clenching her thighs tightly.

She slid down his body until the long length of his erection was before her and wrapped her hand around it. When her fingers closed around his cock, she heard the heavy sound of air being pushed through parted lips. She glanced up to see Donovan watching her intently. The look in his eyes heated her skin. She palmed him, drawing her hands north until her fingertips could move across the head of Donovan’s cock.

“Kiss it.” He released the words in a sigh, but there was little doubt they were a demand.

Michaela felt her sheath dampen at his words and leaned forward to do as he’d asked, placing her lips against the tip of his shaft. His erection jerked in her hand and his hips lifted of their own volition. She kissed the ruddy head of his erection before licking the swollen tip. The full flavour of Donovan’s desire filled her mouth with its salty, sweet tang. Hungry for more of the taste, she straddled Donovan’s thighs. Donovan groaned as she took him deeply. The sound of his erotic bliss told her she was teasing him properly, giving him the greatest pleasure. Her tongue swept over his cock, swept over the tip, and lapped up the pre-cum that leaked from the head. Hands landed in the dark strands of her hair and cupped her head.

  “Jameson, I need you.”

She looked up as she suckled his erection, licking and teasing the hard flesh in her mouth. With a smile she released him.

The angles of Donovan’s handsome face were tight with erotic bliss. His eyes were open and blazed with fiery desire.

Michaela palmed his erection, tore open the condom she held and sheathed his erection.

“Fuck,” Donovan rumbled in a harsh, low voice when she held the root of his cock. Looking into his face, she released him and made her way up his supine body until she could straddle him.

“That’s it, slow and deep,” Donovan said as he gripped her hips. She released his name in a moan as she lowered her hips until Donovan completely filled her. Then she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his mouth.

“What do you think about getting a place together?” he gasped out just as she began a steady up and down motion that she knew would bring them both to the brink.

If this were happening to anyone else, she would say things were moving too fast, but in response to Donovan, all she could say was, “We’ve already been living together for three weeks and we have yet to kill each other.”

He laughed. The sound was so joyful it filled the air. His hands moved over her sweat slickened skin to cup her bottom, lifting and lowering her so she could take him deeply.

“God, yes,” she moaned as a fissure of white-hot pleasure flushed through her. She leaned forward and gripped his shoulders, digging her fingers into the hard muscles as she rode him to completion.

“Shit, Jameson, I can’t hold on.”

“Lord, have mercy,” she groaned as her head fell back. “I think I’m coming, too.” She knew exactly what Donovan was talking about. It was incredible just how hot she was, her body was already coasting towards release. Although she and Donovan spent most of the previous night making love, the attack on her life made it seem like years had passed since she was last with him.

And judging by his response, he felt the same.

“Come with me, Jameson.” He called out the words as his palm collided with her ass cheek.

Michaela groaned and titled her head back. The demand along with the light spanking was too much for her body to ignore. She closed her eyes and gasped his name as her release tightened the muscles in her body. At the same time Donovan jerked beneath her and groaned.

Moments later, after she’d caught her breath, she smiled at the thought
that they were able to come at the same time. “So, I was thinking we could book a beach cabin for the weekend now that we’re both free.”
