“Do you want me to show you your next class?”

“I got it. Thanks though, you need to get to your class so you won’t be late.” I told Mereily.

“Alright, I’ll meet you in front of the cafeteria for lunch.” She said as she was going the opposite way I was.

“See you then.” I kept to myself while I walked down the stairs back to the first floor. I passed my first hour class and looked for room 512. When I finally found it the last bell rang. I went in and the teacher recognized me right away.

  CHAPTER 11

“Ah… Mia.” An older man said. “I’m Elder Kern. You may sit there, class is about to begin.” I nodded and took a seat. He looked like a strict teacher. I figured I would stay on his good side. I had my own desk, the class was a little confusing, he first talked about history. Silently, we read about the human history and then he moved on to talk about science. Half hour for each, some things I remembered from Castle high, but others were knew. He gave me some worksheets and guidelines to help me catch up. The class was over and I headed to my fourth class. Which was AP Calculus, I was good at math but not an expert, the only reason why I always had an advanced math class was because I spent twice as much time studying for it. I got good at it, but I had not been studying in a while, and I wondered if I would still remember any of it. I walked in the room to my next class and the teacher was really nice.

“I am very pleased to meet you Mia. I am Elder Nebula.”

“The pleasure is mine, Elder Nebula.” She was even younger than Elder Carden, she looked twenty, that was weird.

“Call me Elder Neb. My class is all about confidence.” She said. She told me to sit where I wanted, and I found the last seat in the back of the class room. I didn’t know anyone in this class, so I wanted to be isolated from everyone. Neb told us to do some problems from the book and then she solved each one in front of the class. She gave us some homework, the class was quiet while they started working on their homework and then our time was up. “See you tomorrow.” Neb told the class, as we walked out. She reminded me of Deidre. The way she looked at things was similar to how my cousin did. I walked up the stairs to the second floor and found Mereily, Sophie and Delilah talking.

“How were your classes?” Sophie asked.

“They were something else, I learned a lot already.” I told them honestly.

“Then let’s get something to eat, you’ll have more to learn.” Delilah said.

“Remember earlier when you noticed something weird?” Mereily asked me, I knew what she meant, she was talking about when her and Delilah were exchanging weird looks.

  “Yeah?”

“Well, not too long ago a student here was sent away. They didn’t know what to do with him. He was acting really weird and out of nowhere he began doing… things. He wouldn’t pay attention in class, he was always locked in his room and he didn’t have a roommate because they thought he was crazy. Then he really did go crazy, they sent him away. And we never heard from him again,” Mereily said that last part quietly.

“And you think I’m going crazy?” I asked her irritated.

“No of course not, you reminded us of that guy, that’s all.” Delilah said. Now that I looked at her, I remembered her from last night. I had seen her talking to Robert.

We got our food and sat down to eat, Sophie and I ate pizza, Mereily and Delilah had spaghetti. I was looking around for no particular reason and then I locked eyes with a girl. She was pale, too pale. She had black eyeliner and black eye shadow, her eyes were bright crystal blue and her hair was black she had it over her face. Her uniform was all black, even her nail polish.

“Who is that?” I asked the girls while I took a bite of my pizza.

“That would be Anna... I forgot her last name.” Delilah answered.

“She doesn’t have friends anymore. She used to be as popular as Gene, but she started ignoring everybody and doesn’t like to talk to anyone,” Mereily said.

“Yeah, her last name is Denali she used to be my friend and then one day she told me to leave her alone, and I did. Since then I haven’t talked to her. She was nice, and she always does her work and gets A’s and everything, I just don’t understand why she changed so much, her hair the way she dresses and everything is odd.” Sophie looked at her and shook her head. “But I guess she just wanted to be different.” She shrugged.

“There are a lot of weird things that happen here huh?” I asked them and they just nodded. I wanted to be in a good mood and in order for that to happen I had to change the subject. “So, what class do you have next?” I asked both Delilah and Sophie who were eating and it took them a moment to swallow their food.

  “I have Chemistry.” Delilah answered.

“And I have training.” Sophie answered. There was something that I wanted to know.

“Do you guys know who your mate is?” I asked them randomly.

“No. we just have a higher level student give us V2, but that’s all. The mate thing is weird sometimes, that’s why they only tell the guys. To let them get prepared and get the girl to like them and date and so on. But we can’t know yet. Well, at least I can’t I’m just a sophomore.” Sophie said.

“What about you guys?” I asked Delilah and Mereily.

“I know.” Delilah admitted. “Payton Stroubt.” She had a big smile on her face. “I’m guilty I guess. He’s been my boyfriend for a year now, so I guess it’s meant to be.” It was good to hear that she was going to have a guy she actually liked, unlike me.

“I don’t know yet,” Mereily said. “But I have to go see God Lenix after lunch so I better hurry up and eat.” She looked excited.

“You think he’s going to tell you?” Sophie asked her before I could.

“I hope so. I’d like to know, I am a senior.”

What about you Mia?” Delilah asked. I didn’t really want to say anything but if I didn’t then they would probably find out through someone else, I didn’t know if Jack would say anything but I wasn’t going to trust him.

“I do. It’s Jack.” I tried to remember his last name but nothing.

  “Jack McKey,” Mereily told them.

“When did you find out?” Sophie asked surprised.

“Uh, last night, he told me after I found out about being a royal.” I shrugged, to shake off the uncomfortable feeling.

“You are so lucky!” Sophie exclaimed. Well at least one of us was happy about it.

“Yeah thrilled,” I tried to sound convincing, but knew I failed.

“Well I got to go now, see you guys later. I’ll text you or something.” Mereily said, I thanked god she saved me from the conversation.

  “Bye.” We said together.

“I have Astrology next in room three-eighty. That’s upstairs right?” I asked them.

  “Yeah,” Sophie said.

“Just making sure,” I told her.

“We have a stupid reunion next week, girls.” Delilah announced, she was looking at her cell phone. “Genevieve sent a message to every royal saying something about rules, and I don’t know what crap.” She said unhappy.

“I think it’s the elections they have every year to pick the person who represents the school, kind of like a president from a club, and we pick and nominate who we want. But Gene won this past year and I think she’ll probably win again. Not that It matters she’s the princess and it’s like everybody votes for her anyway.” Sophie made a face.

“It doesn’t have to be that way, maybe we could change that.” I told her.

“There is no way in hell three or four girls could change that. Anna Denali has the power to, but she doesn’t do anything about it, I don’t know why. She used to be the freaking law, now she’s a ghost.” Delilah said.

“What if we could talk her into it.” I said out of nowhere staring at Anna from across the Cafeteria. She had the tough look that only worked on some people but she wasn’t fooling me I knew it was just her way of pushing people away, scaring them off.
/>
“You really mean it don’t you?” Delilah asked me.

“Yeah, I don’t see why not.” I shrugged. If I was going to live here I wasn’t going to deal with Genevieve. I did say I would ignore her, but only physically.

  “I’m in.” Sophie declared.

“Well, I guess I’m in too. Are you sure you want to try to talk to her? I don’t think you’ll be able to get her to even look at you.” Delilah said convinced.

“We’ll just have to see.” I said back, the bell rang after that conversation. Suddenly I thought how crazy my idea sounded, I didn’t want to begin a war, but let’s just say it was going to be my back up plan.

“I’ll see you guys later.” I said to them as I walked out of the Cafeteria. My next class was Astrology. I walked up stairs and searched for the room. When I found it, the door was opened and I went in. The room was a navy blue color with bright lights, to make it less dark. The teacher sat behind her desk looking at her computer. “Hi. I’m Mia, a new student.” I said to her. She looked at me and then smiled.

“Yes. You are, how are you doing today?”

  “Good.” I said.

She stood up. “I’m Elder Tariq. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” She was very polite. But it still got to me how everyone knew exactly who I was.

“Nice meeting you too.” I forced a smile because to my surprise Robert entered the room. I ignored him, after I saw him. But I knew he was staring at me, I could sense it.

“You may sit in the last row to your right, the only empty desk.” She pointed. I didn’t look at anyone but when I reached my seat I saw Robert sitting behind it.

  Great.

I sat down quickly and looked at my desk while I waited for class to start. I felt tense and didn’t want to relax I was just plain uncomfortable. Something vibrated in my bag,

I looked to see it was my cell phone. I took it out to see who it was and it was Mereily. I didn’t look at the message she sent, I just closed it and put it back in my bag. The class started.

“Astrology: the study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs, also the study of the alleged influence of the stars, planets, sun, and moon on human affairs. We will be talking about the study that assumes, and professes to interpret the influence of the stars and planets upon human existence. Libra and Virgo, that’s the zodiacs that this class only has. We only have very few Virgo’s and a new one just joined us today. Mia, you are one of the few and that’s an honor. I hope you learn a lot from your classmates.” She said in a very awkward way. “Robert could you tell me what the zodiac is?” She asked him.

“The Zodiac belt is the great circle around which our luminescent Sun apparently moves month by month throughout the year. Zodiac denotes an annual cycle of twelve stations or signs along the ecliptic, the apparent path of the sun across the heavens dividing the ecliptic into twelve equal zones of celestial longitude ___”

“That’s good enough.” She interrupted him. He sounded just like a book worm. “Precisely, if you open your book on… chapter three you will find the partnership of the zodiacs, how you relate to one another, also how you come to be soul mates and you will understand compatibility analysis based on your sign and your partners zodiac sign. No assignment today, I just want you to read from chapter 3 to 5 by tomorrow. You will have a quiz first thing tomorrow, you may begin.”

I took my book out and looked for chapter 3, I read a lot so I was fast. I understood almost everything I read. I was already on chapter 4 when a section caught my attention.

  Compatibility.

  CHAPTER 12

  Compatibility with each zodiac sign…

I skipped down to my sign and read.

When you are a Virgo you express love by doing things for, and fussing over, your loved one. You notice little things about your partner, make mental notes of their likes and dislikes (this may sound contrived, but it’s not it’s simply the way you’re wired), and genuinely try to help your partner in practical ways. Your partner doesn’t always know how to please you. You might have a simple answer, but he/she may still wonder. You see all of the details of your relationship. You work hard at making yourself indispensable in your partner’s life. Generally, you don’t throw yourself at love affairs too readily. This does not mean you are chaste, like the Virgo of yore. Some Virgo’s natives can even be promiscuous. But when it comes to gooey romance, where partners bare all, you are rather selective and self-contented. You are a very sensual being who wants to feel safe before giving yourself to another. You are not as delicate as one might think. You will put up with so much in a relationship to make it work, but you do want some appreciation for all your efforts.

Although that does sound like me I’m inclined to agree with a few things. Next, I read about the Compatibilities between some signs and me and then Libra caught my attention.

  LIBRA AND VIRGO

You and your partner share a love of balance and harmony, which can be a major point of attraction between you. One of the problems that arise between Libra and Virgo temperaments, however, Is a fundamental difference in styles of loving that can lead to misunderstandings. Your partner might find you too skeptical in matters of the heart; at the same time, you might consider your partner to be too idealistic. Your Libra partner has somewhat detached manner, and you might interpret the “airs” as lack of sincerity. Loyalty is of utmost importance to you, and your partner is certainly capable of giving a lot to the partnership. In fact, he/she lives for partnership! But your partner’s detached manner might make you feel somewhat insecure and threatened. Both of you however, are very willing to make adjustments in order for your relationship to work. You can enjoy very stimulating conversations, especially if you appreciate each other’s different styles of expression. Both of you are very willing to bend and adapt in order to keep the relationship alive, and this can make all the difference when two dissimilar personalities pair up.

Next, I read about being with a Virgo.

  VIRGO AND VIRGO

I got caught up with reading about the signs that I didn’t realize class was over. I stumbled to my feet and someone caught my arm before I hit the person in front of me.

“You shouldn’t get up that fast… it can cause you to pass out.” The Anna Denali girl told me, as she straightened up. I was too busy trying to ignore Robert and busy reading that I didn’t know who was in this class with me. I looked at her and she really was pretty, in a very dark way. She stared questioningly.

  “Oh. Um…thanks. I’m Mia__”

“Dawney,” She cut me off. “I know. I’m Anna Denali, you’ve probably heard things about me, but I can tell you they’re not true, depending on what you’ve heard.” She had a strange voice, like pretty and soft, but at the same time scary.

“I haven’t heard anything, really. Just that you don’t like… people,” I told her the truth, maybe if I played my cards right she would trust me. “But how do you know who I am?” I asked her.

“You heard right, I don’t like people.” She stared at the students hard, while they exited the class room. “Oh, everybody knows who you are… Anyway, watch yourself.” She said as she walked away. The class room was empty and I walked out going to my sixth class. Talking to Anna had left a hole in my stomach.

I found Mereily sitting by a window and went to sit by her. The teacher wasn’t in the room, but students were already in their seats with their books out, Mereily looked really happy about something. So I asked.

  “What happened?”

“I know who my mate is.” She almost cried with excitement.

“Who is it then?” I hoped she at least liked the guy she got.

“Didn’t you get my text? Whatever, he’s a royal, I’ve liked him for some time now, but we never really talked. His name is Jordan Sullivan he’s a mixture of Puerto Rican and Austrian, weird huh?” I nodded. “He just found out today, he wa
s supposed to know before me, but they’ve been making some changes and stuff.” When she said they were making changes I had to wonder if it was because of me and Robert or what was going on. I would have to ask him later, unfortunately.

We stopped talking, because the teacher came in the room. I got up and went to his desk where he sat.

“I’m Elder Braeden.” He told me before I said anything.

“Hi. As you probably already know I’m Mia Dawney.” I told him.

“Oh. I know. You may take a seat, thank you for joining us.” I went to sit in the back seat. I ignored every one’s eyes on me. It wasn’t long before Elder Braeden got their attention. I sat the whole class time, thinking about what Anna had said. “Everybody knows who you are.” Now I was more intrigued in knowing why everybody knew me, even before last night.

Class was over and Mereily told me she’d look for me after school, I mumbled something like bye and tried ignoring the weird feeling I was getting, while I walked to the gym for my training class with Robert, who I was not looking forward to seeing. I was entering the gym when I saw Genevieve leaving. She gave me a dirty look, and I glared back at her. Her friends were laughing at me, I ignored them.

“Change in the locker room.” Robert said. He was standing by the bleachers, looking as handsome as ever, he was in black pants and a plain white t-shirt. I went in the girl’s locker room and changed to a pair of black sweat pants and a white spaghetti strap tank top.

I walked back out, to meet Robert in the center of the gym, until I realized something.

“Where’s the class?” I asked in a flat tone.

“This is it.” He simply said, staring at me like he had the night before.

“Okay… since when is there one on one training?” I didn’t know if there ever was, because that was just the thing, it was my first day of school here. I didn’t know a thing. I didn’t wait for him to answer, instead I changed my question. “Does everybody do it?”
