To Kelsey, my oldest daughter, for becoming the most amazing mini-me ever (though I’m pretty sure you’ll disagree with that): You listen to me talk endlessly about book boyfriends and, even though you often roll your eyes, you never turn your back on me when I need a set of ears. You loaned me Shay Mitchell to inspire Addie and, though we argue about the Emison ship versus the Collin/Addie ship, you don’t fight me like most kids would. You, little KK, are pretty much the greatest, most amazing twelve-year-old I’ve ever known.
To Emma, my middle kiddo: With your crazy thoughts, your love of cheese, and your YOLO attitude, you are basically my heart and soul when it comes to keeping my chin up. You make me laugh when I want to cry; you remind me that I am amazing on a daily basis. Your love of reading inspires me to write more books, even though these are not the books for your little eyes. Still, you’re the best hugger ever with the best laugh and the best smile. Yes, you test my patience with your need to constantly borrow my computer, but I have to say you are the best, most amazing, ten-year-old a mom could ever have.
To Bella, my baby, the one who inspired me to pick up reading books again when she first popped up in my belly: I knew you were going to be my endgame from the second I first saw your big, brown eyes. You gave me life and the gift of putting my fingers to the keyboard in the first place. You’re the only kiddo I got to stay home with, and you quickly became my lifeline, even as a tiny baby. Fast-forward a few years and you became my helper at two, my snuggler at four, and the only first grader I know who gives motivational speeches when all I want to do is cry. God blessed me with you at a time when I didn’t know I needed you the most.
To my parents, for obvious reasons: You not only gave me life, but you made me who I am today. And even though you still have to remind me to keep my van clean and clean my toilets, you are two of the best parents a girl could have.
To my agent, Stacey Donaghy: When I first signed with you, I had no idea what we’d go through to get me to where I am today. There’s not a day that goes by when I’m not thankful to have you in my corner. Your FB messages give me hope and brighten my days, and your unwavering support makes me want to weep for joy. This is truly a journey I wouldn’t be on without you, and I just want to say thank you again for being the best literary soul mate a girl could ever ask for.
To my editor, Cat Clyne: You took a chance on me, something I will never EVER be able to repay you for. Thank you for loving my group of crazy guys as much as I do.
To Katrina Emmel, I honestly don’t know where I’d be without you. You’re not only my daily sounding board and critique partner, but you are truly one of the best friends a girl can have. You’ve stuck by me and this book for over two years, and if it weren’t for you, it wouldn’t be where it is now. (And neither would I.) I couldn’t imagine my life without you.
