To Love a Wicked Scoundrel

An arm’s length away, Constantine stood in formal attire, a rose bud attached to his lapel in echo of the overflowing bouquet Isabelle held at her side. His eyes never left his bride and he wore his adoration as proudly as his well-tailored suit.

As the vicar stepped away, the final words of the ceremony reverberated throughout the tranquility of the sanctuary and Con reached forward, framing Isabelle’s face with one hand as he clasped her gloved elbow to guide his new wife closer. He whispered something for her ears only, something romantic and wicked, a secret utterance that brought a bashful blush to the bride’s face, her eyes cast lower as a smile teased her lips. The crowd held their breath in reverence as the couple’s joy-filled kiss sealed the moment.

Soon after, the spell was broken as those in attendance stepped forward to offer blissful congratulations and well wishes, enough to last throughout the celebratory repast at Highborough House and extend further to the beauty of Venice where the couple planned their wedding trip.

In the end, the scandal sheets printed the briefest entry describing the incredibly private events of the coveted Earl of Colehill and his lovely new wife. Their subsequent extravagant honeymoon progressed in the same concealed manner with barely a trifle of information gleaned by the gossips to fill the newsprint columns. Rumours of the loving couple faded from society’s pages and Constantine and Isabelle pursued a life of happily ever after with all their heart.
