"Fuck!" She arched her back. Her legs trembling, she bellowed out a tearful cry as she rode the waves of her orgasm. Her body squirmed under him. Lost in the whirlwind of ecstasy, she no longer had control over her body. Her mind was gone. He wrapped her legs around his waist and stroked with more force. Profane words of pleasure rumbled across his heavy breaths, as he too reached his peak.
After they reached their orgasm, they laid in each other's arms exhausted, catching their breaths. Vance buried his head in the crook of her neck as Zara closed her eyes, trying to regain her strength.
When Vance finally lifted his head, they stared at each other without a word. In that moment, she wanted to tell him how much she loved him but fought back the words. The look in his eyes troubled her. She noticed the confliction on his face. She sensed his regret. From what she had done, she should've felt the same for crossing that line with him. But as crazy as it was, she didn't. All she wanted was to hold him. Even if it was wrong.
His face hardened and he broke his gaze, pulling away. A tightness formed in her chest. Vance laid on his back, glaring up at the ceiling. The invisible barrier shielded between them, distanced them as they laid side by side. He didn't even bother to look at her. Zara looked away, unable to stop the hurt. She should've expected that.
She sat up, ready to leave. She suddenly felt cheap. Even after years of trying to become a better person, just one moment of lust with Vance, was enough to revert her back to her younger years where she had allowed herself to be nothing but used and cheapened. Her eyes stung with tears.
When he grasped her arm, she turned to him. His face softened. He softly rubbed her cheek, wiping away her tears. He pulled her toward him and with hesitance she moved closer to him. He laid her head on his chest and wrapped his arms around her. Tears shielded her eyes as her heart flourished with emotions she couldn't hold back. Comforted in his protective embrace, she drifted off to sleep, for the first time feeling at peace.
Chapter 28
"Yo Vance!"
Vance snapped out of his daze. "Huh?"
"It's your turn fool," Travis told him.
Vance glanced at the set of cards in his hands, realizing he had once again drifted into a trance.
"Damn," he said lowly.
"Aye, wassup with you man? You been out of it all night, you straight?" Rodney asked, concerned.
"Yeah, I'm good." He took a puff of his cigarette.
He was far from good. In fact, he was a fucking mess. For the millionth time tonight, Zara had managed to cloud his thoughts. She was all he ever thought about these days. Since the night they had sex, all he could think about was being inside of her, exploring every part of her body as she screamed those melodic moans in his ear. He had been with several woman in his lifetime, some leaving a lasting impression on him, and others not even worth thinking about.
But Zara...no one came close.
He regretted taking it there with her. He fucked up. He should've exercised better control. But that night, he just couldn't help himself. No matter how hard he tried. And now that he had gotten a little dose, it became harder to stay away from her.
He just needed another taste....
Vance shook his thoughts away. He was losing it. He couldn't even have a damn night with the fellas without thinking about her. Something was truly wrong with him.
Tonight, he and the crew met up at Rodney's house for a game of spades. But Vance almost didn't even come, knowing in the back of his mind that Zara would be here. He tried his best to stay away from her. Even at work, he kept it strictly professional as possible, only speaking to her if needed. They had yet to talk about that night, both avoiding the big elephant in the room like a plague. But they both knew it happened, and things between them would never be the same.
"Damn, bruh play the card. It ain't a matter of life and death," Travis said, impatiently.
"Alright my bad, my bad," Vance huffed out a sigh, and directed his focus back to the game. He needed to concentrate. He observed the stack of cards at the center of the table, before staring at his hand. With a smirk, he placed a king of spades on the table.
"Ah! This nigga here." Travis turned his head.
"Damn!" Anthony hissed.
"Whoo! That's what I'm talkin' about," Rodney nodded as they gave each other daps. "Shit, you was staring so hard at them cards, I thought I lost you for a minute."
"Nah, never." Vance rubbed his hands, turning to Travis and Anthony. "So, where’s the money at? Pay up bitches."
"Can't believe this shit..." Travis dug in his pocket and planted another $20 on the table, as Anthony did the same. "Ya'll niggas 'bout a have me broke by the end of the night"
"Exactly, and ya'll know I got child support payments due next week." Anthony shook his head.
"Aye, you know what? He's right. Yo, Vance put aside some of that money for Ant before Sheena cut this nigga in his sleep," Rodney joked and they laughed.
"Yeah, ya'll got jokes." Anthony nodded. "And, Vance what you laughin' for? Ain't ya baby mama due soon? Shit, you next."
"Ohhh," the rest of them roared.
"Aye, all of ya'll could kiss of my ass, iight." Vance smirked.
"See, that's why I ain't ever having kids, man." Travis spoke.
"Ah, here this fool go again." Rodney shook his head.
"Nah, I'm serious. Once you got kids, you gotta spend the next 18 years of ya life paying for they clothes, food, school tuition, everything. Not to mention, the baby mama probably gonna be asking for more than that too to help her get her nails done, her hair done and all that other bullshit. Nah, not me."
"Aye, Trav You know you got issues, right. You need help," Rodney joked.
Zara entered the kitchen and Vance froze. When she met his gaze, she stopped in her tracks. He quickly blinked away and stared at the table. The chatters in the room subsided at her presence. She walked to the fridge and opened it.
"Aye Zara, can you get the 6 pack out the fridge for me?" Rodney asked.
Zara hissed her teeth. "Boy, ya feet ain't broken."
"C'mon, you're already by the fridge. You really gonna do me like that?"
Letting out a sigh, she took out the pack of beer and wandered to the table. The closer she neared, the quicker Vance's heart sped in his chest.
"Lazy," she mumbled as she approached the table.
"Thanks, lil' sis." Rodney smiled when she placed the beer on the table.
Zara's eyes met Vance's and he looked down, taking another pull of his cigarette. She turned away and left the table. Vance couldn't stop himself from staring at her ample ass in those denim shorts as she walked.
"Aye, Vance."
"Huh?" Vance blinked away and glanced at Rodney.
"Why don't you shuffle out the cards, man?" Rodney suggested.
Vance gathered the cards and shuffled them out. He tried his best not focus on Zara whose presence left him antsier by the moment. His leg shook restlessly with unease, as his riling nervousness surged in him more potently. He just didn't understand how the hell one woman was able to affect him so easily.
When Zara finally left the kitchen, the heavy air instantly felt lighter and he inhaled a much needed breath.
"Damn, that bitch's sexy," Travis voiced, shaking his head.
"I know, and that ass? Damn..." Anthony added.
"Alright, c'mon. Not this again," Rodney said, gathering his cards.
"I'm just sayin', she could get it all day every day. In the morning, evening, in the night." Travis joked.
Vance tightened his jaw, their words unsettling him.
"Man, I just wanna know what that head game is like," Anthony voiced.
"Shit, me too. A sexy bitch like that, I know she could do a few things-
"Alright, that's enough. That's my lil' sister ya'll talking about. Chill with that shit," Rodney scolded.
"Aye Rod, I know you don't like to hear this but ya lil' sister's a hoe. She's always been, let's be real," Travis said bluntly. "A
in't that right, Vance?"
Vance didn't answer as he thumbed his set of cards.
"Damn, look at this nigga’s face," Anthony laughed. "Why're you even asking him? You know he can't stand her ass."
"Alright, enough of this. Let's get back to the game," Rodney said, annoyed.
Vance placed the cards on the table and stood up.
"Where you going?" Rodney asked.
"Bathroom," he said abruptly and left the table.
Just hearing Travis and Anthony talk so freely about Zara bothered him and he had no idea why. It wasn't the first time they talked trash about Zara. In fact, Vance had always been the ring leader of it all. But this time, hearing them disrespect her the way they did, aggravated him and he just had to walk away to clear his head.
When he approached the bathroom door, it swung open, startling him. He froze at Zara’s presence. For a moment, they stared at each other without a word.
She blinked away, clearing her throat. "Excuse me."
She tried to pass him, but he placed a hand on her waist to stop her. Her chest rose at his touch and her gaze met his.
"Look, about the other night..." He let out a deep breath. He didn't want to bring it up at all, but they needed to address it. He couldn't take any more of this awkwardness between them. "We can't keep acting like it didn't happen."
"Yeah, I know." Her gaze faltered.
"I just think...you know, we got caught up in the moment and one thing led to another. But I think we could both agree that it was a mistake and it should've never happened."
Her eyes glinted with what appeared to be hurt and it confused him. He didn't expect that.
She nodded. "Yeah, you're right. It should've never happened."
"Yeah," he said lowly.
Her eyes drifted to his hand, and he realized it was still on her lower waist. Everything within him, told him to back away. He swore to himself he would stay away from her. Despite himself, he slowly ran his hand up her tank top, trailing his fingertips across her lower waist. Her chest rose as she heaved in a deep breath, her succulent breasts peeking from her cleavage, arousing him. He clenched his jaw, at the print of her erect nipples through the thin fabric of her top, the memory of savoring them firing his brain. He met her lustful gaze. She wanted him. Her eyes said it all.
On impulse, he pressed his lips against hers. Kissing each other hungrily, they staggered into the bathroom and Vance shut the door. Their tongues thrashed with desire as soft moans escaped their breaths. Just the touch of her soft lips made every part of his body tingle. Her kisses intoxicated him. He couldn't get enough. Vance placed her on the sink. His lips trailed across her neck, and her breaths quickened, as she tugged at his shirt, pulling him closer.
"Vance..." she whimpered.
His dick hardened. He loved the way she spoke his name with such desperation, yearning for him to fulfill the aching need in her body. And he was going to do just that. The remnants of her sweet taste, still feasted on his mind and ever since he got a dose, he had been craving it. He wanted to savor every part of her.
Reality struck his senses, and he broke out of his trance.
"Wait." He pulled away.
She caught her breath. He pressed his palm against the mirror with a clenched jaw, wanting nothing more than to beat the shit out of himself for what he was about to do.
"We can't do this..." the words painfully left his throat.
She looked at him, confused. And he didn't blame her. How could he turn her down? Something so tantalizing. With those perky breasts of hers, those long butter brown legs, that tight puss-
He backed away as though her skin was too scorching to touch.
"I gotta go." He shook his head, buckling his belt.
Before she could muster up the words to speak, he swiftly left the bathroom. If he didn't leave now, he was going to fuck her right on that sink and he couldn't allow himself to succumb to temptation.
He made his way to the dining table and sat down.
"Damn, b. What took you so long?" Anthony inquired.
"Yeah, you was taking a shit or something?" Travis asked.
"Yeah," Vance gathered his cards.
He met Rodney's knowing gaze, who simply shook his head.
"Let's start the game," Rodney said.
Chapter 29
"Vance can you put your phone down for one second and actually be engaged in what we're doing?" Laurie complained.
He slid his phone in his pocket with an annoyed sigh.
"Why did you even come if you're not gonna show any interest at all?"
"I am interested."
"No, you're not. The whole time you've been on your phone. The least you could do is show some enthusiasm for shopping for your own child."
Vance shook his head, wondering why he even decided to come in the first place. Since finding out about her pregnancy, Laurie already began shopping for items for the baby. Today Laurie asked him to help her shop for a crib, so he decided to take a moment of his time to do so. But it was hard to keep his focus on that when he had other thoughts on his mind.
Like Zara.
He wondered what she was doing right now. For the past 2 months, they had been seeing each other nearly every day. He swore he was going to stay away, he did, but he couldn't no matter how much he tried. He knew what he was doing was shameful. In fact, he hated himself for it. But...he just couldn't get enough of her.
With a sigh, he checked his phone only to be disappointed. He hadn't heard from her all day. It had been a while since he had texted her, 2 hours to be exact, why the hell hadn't she responded back? It left him puzzled, and quite annoyed actually. She always responded to his texts. He scoffed. She was probably out with that Bryant Gumble looking ass nigga. Not that he gave a fuck. He just wished she would've at least hit him back once to let him know what was going on instead of having him wondering all damn day.
"Who are you texting?"
Vance put his phone in his pocket. "My boss."
"Really? Your boss. Wow, you both must be having a really important conversation to keep you so occupied," Laurie retorted.
"Yeah, we are."
"You're so full of shit."
He shook his head, not in the mood to argue with her.
"Let me see your phone then." She extended her hand to him.
He frowned. "What?"
"Let me see your phone. If it's just your boss, then it shouldn’t be a big deal.”
"I'm not giving you my phone."
"And why not?"
"Because it ain't your business."
"Oh, it's not my business."
"No, it's not."
"Or the reason you don't want me to see, is because you’re busy talking to some other bitch and you don't want me to know."
Vance looked up at the ceiling. "Here we go."
"Who is she?"
"What?"
"Who's the other bitch you're sleeping with?"
"There's no other bitch. How many times do I have to tell you that?"
"Who's the other bitch, Vance?" she raised her voice.
He cringed at her loud tone, and looked around the department store at the bypassing shoppers who darted them with oncoming looks.
"Yo, would you calm ya damn voice down? You're making a scene right now," he said with clenched teeth.
"I don't care! Who is she, Vance?"
He scoffed, shaking his head. Now, he really regretted even coming here at all.
"Look at you, you can't even look me in the eye. You think I don't know you're sleeping around? This won't be the first time."
"Here you go, bringing up past shit."
"You damn right, I'm bringing it up. You've done this shit plenty of times before, you really expect me to believe you've completely changed?"
"Yeah, I do." He stared at her, square in the eyes.
The truth was, before Zara, he hadn't slept with another woman in about a year or so. He messed up various times in the past, he could adm
it that, but he had gotten better with staying faithful. So, for her to keep throwing the past in his face pissed him off. She could never seem to let it go.
"Oh please, this is nothing but a pattern for you. You could be the best boyfriend in the world for a couple of months, then when you get bored, you go straying off with some other bitch. I know how you are, Vance, so don't stand there and play me for a fool because I'm not."
Vance huffed and leaned his back against the wall. At this point, he wasn't going to argue with her, especially in public. He didn't have the energy nor patience.
Laurie shook her head. "What are you gonna do when the baby comes, Vance? You're about to be a father, it's time to grow up! What kind of example are you gonna set for your child, if you keep sleeping around with all these other bitches?"
"Yo, what the fuck! I just told you I'm not-" He bit his lip, to stop himself. Huffing out a sigh, Vance rubbed his jaw to soothe the brewing anger seething within him.
"You know what? I ain't about to deal with this shit right now. When you're done, meet me in the car." He turned away and left the store.
*
"Ooooh yesss....fuck me just like that....mmmm..." Zara moaned.
Vance thrusted himself deep inside of her, reveling in the feeling of her moisture. With her stomach pressed against the edge of his dining table, her plump ass looked so beautiful as it planted against his pelvis each time he stroked her.
"You 'been missing this dick ain't you..."
"Mhmm..." She bit her lip, nodding.
"Then why you took so long to answer me today...what you been doin' huh..." He stroked deeper and a loud gasp escaped her. "Shit!"
"Answer me, Za...what you was doin'..." He slapped her ass and she winced. He wanted an answer. Now. She knew how he felt about her missing his calls and texts. Disrespectful ass. "You was with that other nigga weren't you?"
Nothing but moans escaped her, and he knew the answer already. He gripped her dreadlocks, and firmly pressed his teeth against her shoulder blade. She flinched, with a wince of pain. He wanted to leave a mark. So, the next time she was with her man, he would see the trace of him embedded in her skin. A reminder that no matter how much her man thought he had her, he was the one fulfilling her sexual needs.
