“A spa visit and then a beach one?” Josie said. “I love Key West.”

Heather smiled. The three women were all wearing sandals to show off their painted toenails. They walked toward the beach.

“Wait a moment,” Heather said. “I think there’s a surprise for you here.”

Amy promptly stepped behind Josie and covered her eyes for her.

  “What’s going on?” asked Josie.

“We’re going to walk the rest of the way to the beach together without you looking,” said Amy. “But when you do open your eyes, I think you’re going to like what you see.”

  “Okay,” Josie said, giggling.

They walked to the beach and found the right position to stand in. Amy counted to three and removed her hands. Josie looked around and smiled.

Josh had assembled a table full of his best dishes that he made as a chef. Candles were glimmering softly on the table and flowers were sprinkled on the sand.

“Josh, this is beautiful,” Josie said.

“Not as beautiful as you,” he replied. Then he got down on one knee and said, “Josie, I love you. And I know that I’m going to love you every day for the rest of my life. I’d also love if we could spend that time together as man and wife. Will you marry me?”

“Yes!” Josie squealed, accepting the ring he gave her.

Heather and Amy stood to the side, recording the whole wonderful event on the cameras on their phones. However, the excitement wasn’t over. Right after Josie slipped the ring on and kissed her now-official-fiancé, there was a burst of light over the water.

Two fireworks shot up into the air and formed the shape of a heart.

Jamie raced over to Heather and Amy.

  “Did it work?” he asked.

  “It was perfect,” Amy said.

The trio began to walk away from the beach, to allow the happy couple to enjoy their meal and begin planning for their future.

“I’m glad she said yes,” Amy told Heather. “I really am. I think they’ll be good together. Even if it happened very fast.”

“And the proposal was amazing,” Heather said. “Your preparation came through.”

“It was perfect for Josh,” Jamie agreed. “It was lavish and finished with a bang.”

“The fireworks were very cool,” said Amy.

“But if I ever…” Jamie started and then trailed off.

  “What?” asked Amy.

  “Nothing,” said Jamie.

“What?” Amy asked again, a little more forcefully.

“Nothing,” Jamie repeated with a smile. “I just think I have a different sense of style.”

Heather grinned. Maybe Amy’s proposal was coming soon too.
