“Once I’m gone I think Andrew will find the strength and courage to realize what I knew would happen in the first place.”

  “What’s that?”

“That’s he’s loved you all this time.”

Skeptically, she asked, “And you know this as his brother?”

“Of course and I want you to tell him something when he tells you this. Promise me, Shane.”

She still doubted that Andrew would ever succumb to admitting his feelings for her. But if he ever did, she would never hold anything back from him, because then she knew he would mean whatever came out of his mouth. “I promise, Paul.”

He whispered in her ear and Shane giggled.

Paul held her as tight as his strength would allow him for a brief moment, and then rest his head on top of hers as they watched their son sleep.

In her thoughts Shane was glad Paul had lived to see his son.

Andrew didn't speak until they were down in the hallway by the front door. He knew Rochelle had taken Donald out shopping so they had the privacy they needed.

"You did that on purpose," he said. There was no accusation in his tone, just a statement.

"I did it because there's no family secret that I can't find out," she said with an arrogant shrug.

He snorted. "You did it to find out if that baby was mine."

Onyx looked disgusted. "Do you really think I would use my talents as a private investigator because I was jealous of another woman?" she asked incredulously.

With a knowing look, Andrew didn't bother to answer. Onyx wouldn't admit to actually having feminine emotions, and he wouldn't pressure her, but he had her number. Pulling out his business card, he handed it to her. "Thank you for everything you have done for us. Thank you most for your confidentiality about our interest."

In certain terms, Andrew was telling her to keep her mouth shut about everything.

"Don't worry, your secrets are always safe with me," she assured him, taking the card.

Once she was gone, Andrew took the steps two at a time to get back up to the nursery.

Without making his presence known, he listened to his brother speak to Shane at the doorway.

"I'm giving you my blessing, Shane," Paul said quietly. "I want you and Andrew to be very happy. Have lots of girls and one more boy. That’ll make him keep trying."

  She chuckled kissing his cheek.

Paul cupped her face and looked deep into her eyes. "I don't think I could ever repay you for what you've done for Andrew and I, Shane, but I want you to know you are the best thing in our lives."

  "Paul!" Shane cried hysterically.

Andrew came in the room to see his brother's nose bleeding. His eyes had become glazed and his body had become despondent.

"Please don't die!" Shane cried. "Please don't go, Paul!"

  Chapter 47

Andrew pulled into the driveway of his brother's home. It was strange to know Paul wouldn't be busy working in his home office when Andrew walked in the door, but knowing Shane was there made it all the more comforting.

Stepping into the home, he had to flick on the hallway light. All the doors and blinds were closed. The house was quiet and dark. Donald and PJ were staying with Rochelle in the guesthouse to give Shane some private time for a couple of days.

Andrew had done the Funeral arrangements for her family, but she had been too distraught over Paul’s death and taking care of the baby to even attend her family’s funeral, She did demand Derrick’s grave have fresh flowers always placed there so his brother could easily find the tombstone.

Although Shane had been with Andrew every step of the way for the funeral arrangements and burying Paul, Andrew knew, Shane's mind was miles away.

This was all pretty weird for Andrew, but he had waited for so long. Taking a long stemmed rose from the vase by the stairs, he went up to the white room where he assumed she would be. He could tell the shower was freshly used, but she was nowhere in sight.

The balcony doors were opened and he walked up the stairs to the roof. The floor was warmed and the environment was set for relaxing. There were candles lit around the roof, making the late afternoon sun seem so romantic and soft jazz played on the stereo.

He found Shane staring into nowhere by a bench facing the sunset in her robe. Her feet were bare and her hair was freshly combed straight resting on her shoulders.

Moving behind her quietly, he tenderly pressed his lips to the nape of her neck.

  ***

Shane closed her eyes at the contact of his lips on her skin reveling in the pleasure of his touch. "What took you so long?" she asked quietly as his arms moved around her waist.

With a shrug of his thick shoulder, "I figured you wanted to be alone."

Frowning she turned in his arms encircling her own arms around his neck. "I thought you would be here last night."

"I wanted to," Andrew replied with a lot of frustration. "But I thought it would be inappropriate since we just buried him yesterday."

Nuzzling her face in his neck, she said, "I didn't want to be alone. I wanted to be with you, and not because I missed Paul. I missed you too, Andrew.”"

Her words incited his passion instantly and their lips joined in the sweetest kiss. His mouth, his body and his hands told her how much he had missed her as he pushed the robe to the floor and scooped her up to take her to the nearest bench.

Her immense ardor for him over shadowed all reasoning and comfort. Shane felt as if her whole body was on fire and only he could quench the burning. Her hands worked feverishly at his pants freeing the thick shaft from its haven and straddling his hips embedding him deep into her.

Andrew growled in bliss, as she rode him. He left no skin untouched where his mouth could kiss, suckle, and taste. They had waited so long, but she could tell he wanted to make this time special for her. He wanted her to receive so much pleasure.

Shane was in heaven as she felt her climax overcome her senses sending her body into divine convulsions.

"I love you, Shane," he whispered softly in her ear.

She smiled and lovingly kissed him. "I know," she said breathlessly. "I love you too." She could feel him still pulsing deep within her. He had not unleashed his pleasure yet, but she knew it was still to come.

He actually looked offended that this wasn't new news to her. "How?"

Delightedly laughing, she said, "Paul told me. He said one day you would tell me."

"Did he say what you should tell me?"

"Yes." She kissed his cheek, eyes, and then nibbled lovingly on his ear feeling his manhood expand even more inside of her. "He said," she whispered. "To tell you I told you so."

Andrew chuckled genuinely, sending shivers down her spine even though she wasn't cold. He looked deep in her eyes with concern. "Can you draw the line between our marriage and your career?"

It was a strange question to ask, but she was touched by his concern and surprised he was able to remember their conversation from over a year ago. She was also enamored that he would understand that her career was very important to her. There was no doubt in her heart about her feelings for this wonderful man. Knowing that he wanted to please her made her heart overflow with love for him. "I think with you as my loving and supportive husband, I will be able to conquer the world." As she spoke, she undressed him from the waist up. "I know I will love you for the rest of my life."

She knew she had gone above and beyond his answer and his own need was pulsing anxiously inside, making her body's need grow more and more. Baring his shoulder, she buried her face in his neck and suckled on a sweet spot knowing how much this turned him on.

Andrew wasted no time in using his own clothes as enough bedding on the floor of the roof to lie her down on and drive intensely into her. Each stroke brought them closer and closer to the wonderful pinnacle that joined their souls, their bodies, and their hearts together... forever.
