Eurue- The Forgotten World
Page 41
Caballa was waiting in her gold brocade gown, golden tresses flowing over one shoulder. Her tawny eyes were alive with mischief and welcome.
Arms akimbo, she watched them close in.
“Tristan.”
His entire being feasted on the sight of her. “Caballa.”
“You are happy, my love.”
“I am.”
Alusin smiled at both of them, but did not say a word. This was not about him.
“That makes me happy,” Caballa murmured. She lifted a hand to his cheek and in that otherworld only the sense of touch conferred. “Pity,” she said, her hand dropping away. “Still, seeing you is the greatest of all gifts.”
“As it is for me.” Tristan too lifted fingers to her cheek, to caress even for the suggestion of touch.
“This cannot happen again,” she said. “I am moving on after this.”
He swallowed. “This is closure. We never got to say farewell.”
“Exactly,” she smiled. She shifted her attention to Alusin. “Seer, watch your visions. I have no idea as to timing, but Karydor will one day stride back into your realm. I do not know of his intentions. They may be benevolent, and they may not be, but be prepared.”
Alusin inclined his head. “I shall watch.”
Caballa returned her focus to Tristan. “When he comes, Grinwallin will do something also. Tris, I do not know if those events are related, but we know coincidence does not exist. Be careful, will you?”
“We will be fine. Do not worry.”
She grimaced slightly. “I will worry, because that is who I am, but I will play no part in what is yet to come. As for being fine; Karydor’s arrival means …”
“Torrullin will return.”
“Yes. Be prepared for that also.”
“How does one prepare for Torrullin Valla?”
She smiled sadly. “With those words you echo Lowen Dalrish, and look what happened to her. By the way, she can be reached, but not by Alusin.”
“Torrullin will need her. By all gods.”
Caballa stepped up to him, looking up. “I must go and do not wish to leave on a sour note. You have time, Tris, lots of it, but grab every moment as if it is your last. Love with all your heart.”
He did not want to tell her she now echoed Torrullin’s words, and thus smiled, putting all that love into the gesture. “Find your eternity, my love. I will miss you forever. I love you.”
“As I love you.”
Those words remained in the ether for long moments after her spirit had vanished.
Akhavar
EYES OPENED. Dark blue. Silver.
“We have time,” Alusin murmured.
Tristan smiled. “And we live in this moment.”

About the Author
Elaina lives in magical Ireland after leaving the surrounds of magical Table Mountain at the southern tip of Africa. Having lived in both Ireland and New Zealand, she now realises Ireland’s mists are close to perfection. When writing she puts into words her travels and dreams, because she believes there is inspiration in even the most outrageous tale.
After studying Purchasing Management and working in the formal sector as a buyer, she chose to raise and home-school her three children. She started writing novels arou
nd 2002, moving from children’s stories, poetry and short stories to concentrate on larger works.
Published by Wild Wolf, Tirgearr and 13th Sign Publishing, Elaina is also self-published. While her main body of work has been her Fantasy Series (Lore of Arcana, Lore of Reaume and Lore of Sanctum), she is a diverse writer and her credits include novels and shorter stories in the Contemporary, Humorous, Paranormal, Dystopian, Alternate History and Romantic genres, as well as a Non-fiction journal. Four of her books have been translated.
Ireland’s ancient past has influenced her writing, gifting her work a Celtic twist, while the majesty of New Zealand has led her to mountaintops and extraordinary vistas. The vibrancy of Africa has had much to do with the inspirational side of Elaina’s work. The colours and diversity of nature itself fires her imagination.
Come with her to places familiar and far, far away!
