Ollie shook his head. "Fucking great."
They continued walking when Ollie asked, "What do you do for fun?"
"Fun?" Wyndingo asked in confusion.
Ollie snorted, "Yes, fun. You know that thing you do that makes you feel good, hang out with friends, maybe laugh a little. Fun."
Thinking a moment, Wyndingo replied, "I don't really have friends, but I like to play guitar."
Raising a brow, Ollie was surprised by that, then asked, "What do you like to play?"
Shrugging, Wyndingo replied, "I'm more partial to country, but more the oldies, like Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, that sort of thing."
"I've only ever really heard of Johnny Cash and even then, I only know a song or two he does," Ollie replied.
"Well, you are missing out," Wyndingo replied with a small smile.
"Maybe you can play for me sometime?" Ollie said in more question then statement.
Wyndingo looked at Ollie in confusion. "Why are you being this way with me?"
"I don't understand your question," Ollie replied.
"Joking, teasing, questioning, acting as if you like me," Wyndingo replied.
Ollie sighed. "Wyn, I do like you. When I said―"
Another bomb exploded and knocked Wyndingo into Ollie. Ollie's back hit the building behind him and they found themselves in a very interesting position. Wyndingo's cock was hard, as was Ollie's and the man's scent was enough to make Ollie want to find out if he tasted as good as he smelled.
Pulling back slightly, Wyndingo rasped, "Sorry."
Licking his dry lips, Ollie whispered, "When we are done here and get back to our time, can we talk? I mean really talk. I need to say things that I should have said that day and maybe―"
Wyndingo shocked the hell out of Ollie when he quickly connected his lips to Ollie's. The kiss was hard and filled with need. Ollie opened to his mate and Wyndingo delved his tongue in deep. Both men putting their frustration, need, and yearning into this one kiss. When Wyndingo finally pulled back, he softly replied, "When you want to talk, I will be there to listen."
"Hey guys, as hot as that shit was to watch, we need to get the fuck out of here," Fiere shouted out.
Wyndingo pulled back, saying, "Please stay close to me."
Ollie nodded and replied, "Okay."
Joining up with the others, Day explained, "They're using some kind of launch system. Rory has the town cameras as surveillance and Six has some kind of launch system set up that fires randomly when they see us coming. We haven't figured out a way to disable them yet. The only good thing is that they ran out of the missiles they used in the beginning. However, Wade and Six were very good with weapons and figured out something that could be launched and cause damage. Normally, they just let us know that they know we're here."
"So what you're saying is that they are warning shots?" Ezra asked.
Nodding, Day replied, "Mostly, but if they hit right, they will kill you. It was one of those that took out Qavex. We found the launch system, but it's in an area we can't get to. They have men set up with armor penetrating bullets and they can pass through the scales of a dragon and the feathers of a phoenix."
"And as Qavex found out, the stone skin of a gargoyle," Kalen replied sadly.
"Where is this launching system?" Wyndingo asked.
Pointing towards the now non-existent mountains, Kalen said, "See that circle of rocks? Well, it's in the center. However, there are snipers in the hills on both sides and around the launching device."
With a sharp nod, Wyndingo replied, "I can take it out."
Ollie grabbed Wyn's arm, asking, "What do you mean you'll take it out? Kalen just said they have snipers with bullets that can pass the scales of any dragon."
Wyn smiled. "I'm not just any dragon. I'm an elemental, remember?"
"No, I don't remember. I've never seen you shift," Ollie snapped.
"Well, get ready to be amazed," Wyn replied and then shifted.
Ollie watched as one second Wyn was there and the next second he was gone. Looking left then right, Ollie asked, "Where'd he go?"
Ollie felt something push him from behind and turned, but nothing was there. “What the hell?"
Seconds later, a brown three-headed dragon was in front of him, then the next second a dragon made of water was there. Not even two seconds later, a stone-grey dragon was looking at Ollie.
"That is so fucking cool!" Ollie said in awe as he lightly ran his hand over the dragon's heads one at a time.
"Yeah it is. I've never seen anything like it," Fiere replied.
The three heads on the dragon gave Ollie what looked like a toothy grin, at least he hoped that's what it was. Then Wyndingo turned and took to the sky disappearing as he flew. It didn't take long before the air started to swirl in the field around the rock formation. It turned into a dark brown cloud of dirt and rocks.
Ollie jumped when he heard guns firing. Fear gripped his lungs as they stopped working along with his heart. "They're shooting at Wyndingo."
"He'll be okay, Ollie," Pascal softly replied from behind him.
Turning around quickly, Ollie was surprised to see his brothers were all there with his future self and Amelia. "What are you guys doing here? We agreed that you would stay safe so that you can get everyone home when we're done here."
Nelson stepped forward, saying, "Pascal has an idea and we think it might work."
Pascal nodded. "Ollie, we need to be here. Angelo agreed."
Toby quickly said, "And Dain, Kerrick, Manny, and Frankie brought us with them when they went to set up for their part in this. Well, your time Frankie."
"I don't have time for this shit. My mate is out there right now and if those fuckers don't kill him, I just might," Ollie grumbled.
Pascal placed his arm around his brother, saying, "Wyndingo is smart and a fierce fighter. He will be okay, Ollie."
Ollie gasped when he saw a large truck lifting into the air and crash to the ground in a fiery explosion. Seconds later, another large truck lifted and was tossed even further, exploding. Fire filled the ground around the trucks and then rippled through the sky. The sounds of screams, gunfire, and then silence quickly followed.
The dirt devil slowed and then disappeared, and no sound was heard. For some reason, the silence was even more frightening than the explosions.
"Where is he?" Day asked
"I don't know. I don't see him anywhere," Kalen replied.
Ollie couldn't move. His heart started beating rapidly and even though he was breathing, it was as if no oxygen was making it to his brain. Ollie's brothers surrounded him, Nelson softly saying, "It's okay, Ollie. Take deep breaths."
Ollie tried to do as Nelson said, but the thought that his mate was out there hurt, or dead, made the directive impossible to follow.
"What's wrong with him?"
Ollie gasped and turned to see Wyndingo standing there. Rushing to his mate, Ollie hugged his mate close and then pulled back and punched him in the gut…hard.
"Ooomph! What the hell was that for?" Wyndingo rasped in pain, holding his stomach.
"You scared the shit out of me. I thought you were dead or hurt, damn it!" Ollie practically shouted.
Wyn rubbed his belly, asking, "So what, that was a love tap?"
"Asshole. Next time I'll aim lower," Ollie grumbled, turned around and started walking away. "Let's get the hell to where we are going."
Ollie was relieved that Wyndingo was okay, but he was also pissed that the man made him worry like that for no reason. Wiping away his angry tears, Ollie ignored Wyndingo when the man got closer. He just wasn't ready to talk to him at the moment.
"Look, I'm sorry I had you worried. I couldn't make myself appear in case there was a sniper I may have missed," Wyndingo softly replied.
"Whatever," Ollie rasped and kept walking.
Wyn grabbed Ollie's shoulder, stopped walking, and turned him around. Ollie refused to look at the man. "Ollie, I really am sorry."
Ollie sniffled then turned his watery eyes to the man. "I understand your reasons. I―"
Wyndingo pulled Ollie forward and kissed him hard, then drew back, whispering, "We are definitely going to talk when all of this is said and done.”
"People get ready! We have company!" Kalen shouted.
Looking up, Ollie saw a humongous mountain meadow green, dragon with scaly dewclaws on the tip of dragon wings, spikes down the tail and on the chin part of his snout and curved horns on his head. He was with another dark green dragon, just as large and just as deadly-looking.
"Fuck me, that's Zev and York," Day hissed.
The sound of a vehicle coming up on them fast had Ollie turning. A large military truck was heading their way.
"Fuck! Here come the rest!" Fiere shouted.
Future Day began yelling out orders, "Wyn, you and I will go and hold off Zev and York. Kalen, you and the rest of the warriors do your best to take on the ones arriving. Have Fiere keep Ollie and his brothers safe until we get back. It doesn't look like we are going to get Jewel's attention, but we are going to get some others instead."
Pelt unsheathed his sword as did the others. Present Ollie turned to future Ollie. "Do you know where the cameras are that Rory uses?"
"I know where there are a couple, but I don't know for sure if those are the ones he uses," future Ollie replied.
"Take Ezra to as many as you can find. It's going to be the only way we know that Jewel has seen him," Ollie explained.
Ezra shook his head. "You're going to need me to help with this fight."
Ollie pursed his lips and shook his head. "No, we need you to get your mate’s attention. If he sees you, Ezra, he's going to want to check for himself that his eyes are not deceiving him. You need to go and do this. Pelt and the others will hold them off until Jewel gets here."
Nelson stepped forward. "I'll take him. I think that you guys are going to need our Ollie."
Ollie was confused as Nelson left with Ezra. They were going back in the direction they had come. Hearing the loud squawk, Ollie looked up and saw Wyndingo's brown dragon taking on York's green one. Their claws were clashing and wings hitting as they fought one another. Wyn suddenly turned grey just as a blast of ice his him in the chest, then Wyndingo went invisible. York looked around, then let out a loud, high-pitched roar as he plummeted towards the ground. He was able to pull out of his downward spiral and lift high into the air, but then Wyn switched to his water form and launched himself at York. It was like a fire hose being set off and York started falling to the ground once again. This time York hit the dirt hard as Wyn landed, then shifted. "York, stop this nonsense. I don't want to hurt you."
York shifted, shocked, then pure white-hot rage came over York as he did an impressive round house kick to Wyndingo's sternum, knocking the man back on his ass.
"Wyn!" Ollie shouted.
Ignoring Ollie's outburst, Wyndingo jumped to his feet and prepared for battle. The two men stood for a moment just staring at each other. York hissed, "I have begged for this day."
"York, I don't want to hurt you," Wyndingo stated softly.
York laughed, an evil nasty sound. "That is funny, because I have dreamed of nothing but a slow torturous death for you since they day I lost my nugget."
"That's why we're here, York. We came to make it right. If you would just―" Wyndingo was cut off from saying anything else when York lunged into Wyndingo and landed on top of the man. His fists were flying as he punched Wyndingo over and over again. Ollie could see that his mate wasn't even trying to fight back.
"Damn it, Wyndingo! Fight!" Ollie screamed.
York went to bring his fist down once more, but Wyndingo caught it and flipped York onto his back, hitting him with his fists as York had just done to him seconds ago.
The sound of metal on metal had Ollie turning to see Fiere, Pelt, and several of their warriors in battle. Swords were clashing as they fought for their very lives against Sulyx, Nuzan, and men Ollie barely had ever seen before. This was fucking madness.
Wolf shifted into his griffion form, his scorpion tail striking towards Gage, who had just shifted into his drill monkey form. Gage grabbed Wolf's tail and was about to rip it off when shockingly, Ollie watched his future self fly through the air using a round house kick and jab, that had Gage tossed off of Wolf and hitting a building behind him.
"Holy fuck, where the hell did I learn to do that?" Ollie muttered.
Future Dain and Kerrick rushed out of the club with present Frankie and Manny close behind. Frankie and Manny quickly shifted and took to the air, just as more warriors arrived to fight against Day and his men.
Present Manny flew to the convoy that was almost on them and let out a sonic sound that had Ollie literally seeing the waves of air moving towards the trucks. All three trucks lifted from the ground and flipped front to back, crushing everyone inside.
"Holy hell, this has to stop," Ollie gasped, seeing Jewel lying feet away from the crash.
"No!" Ezra screamed as he rushed to his mate mindless of the chaos around him.
Ollie could do no more than look around as he saw people that had been as close as brothers, fighting to the death, for absolutely nothing. Blood was everywhere as were bodies. It was carnage that Ollie could have gone a lifetime without ever seeing. "This has to stop. It has to stop. Please, I am so fucking sorry. I wish I could change things back to how they were supposed to be. Bring Manny and Frankie back together and just stop the fighting. I'm so fucking sorry."
To Ollie's shock, everything stopped. No one was moving, no sounds were heard. Ollie looked around and it was as if everyone was frozen in time. "Oh fuck, now what?"
CHAPTER 12
Wyndingo was doing everything he could to not hurt York. He hated fighting a man he had looked at like a little brother for centuries. However, he wasn't going to just stand there and allow the man to kill him either. York had just rolled away from Wyndingo and was preparing to strike once more when he seemed to just stop. "What the fuck?"
Looking around, Wyndingo realized everyone but he and the Santorini Foxes were all stopped in mid-movement.
Wyndingo had just gotten to his mate when he saw two small critters flutter towards them. One was a tiny black dragon with large blue butterfly wings outlined with black and the other was just as tiny, with large pink wings outlined in black.
"Helio! Briar!" Pascal shouted running towards the two butterfly dragons and white phoenix shifter. "You brought Manny back!" Pascal gasped as he hugged them close the second they shifted.
Future Manny looked around, asking, "Where is Frankie?"
"He's up in the front with Fiere and Kalen. The other Frankie and Manny are near the club with Dain and Kerrick. They're probably frozen in time like everyone else," Nelson explained.
"But what are our past selves doing here?" Manny asked.
Present Ollie said, "We're here to try and make things right. Day thought we could shed some light on what caused Wyn to go nuclear and take out the council and others. When we found out about you being taken, we figured we might get to talk to Jewel and try and work out a truce."
Wyndingo stepped up to make sure no one attacked Ollie. He had heard of the butterfly dragons, but he had never really seen them before. Damn, they were adorable. Not as adorable as his sexy Ollie, but adorable none the less.
Briar was a couple inches taller than Ollie's five feet. He was a beautiful man, with his lavender hair to his knees and cobalt blue eyes. Helio was the same height as Ollie, but just like Briar, the man was sexy as hell with his hair as long as Briar’s, except magenta in color and his amazing dark pink eyes.
From the look on Ollie's face, he was happy to see the tiny dragon shifters, but that joy quickly seemed to turn to confusion. It seemed that Ollie didn't understand any more than Wyndingo did as to why or how they got here.
"Briar, what are you doing here? How did you survive the explosion? Why didn't Day tell us that you were here?" Ollie asked in confusion
.
Briar gave Ollie a soft smile. "Helio and I answered your call. We were not in this time, so Day had no idea we would be here. We were called away by Kali when Ezra dropped Jewel off with Kerrick. We have not been here since."
"Where have you been?" Pascal asked.
Shrugging, Helio replied, "We do not know. It was a beautiful garden with many flowers and sunshine. Kali told us to stay put until we received our call."
Briar sighed. "After so long, we thought one would never come to us and then finally Ollie released us from our hiding."
"My call?" Ollie asked still confused as hell.
Helio stepped forward, saying, "We have been waiting for our time to come. We can help with this battle because you wish for it, but we cannot stop this war. That is up to them to do."
Wyndingo didn't interrupt the men as they spoke but then he couldn't hold back anymore. "Why was fate willing to save you two, but not anyone else?"
"We do not know. That is a question for Kali. However, if I were to guess, I would think it might be because she knows things you do not. Just like when we froze time, everyone but Kali's creations should be affected, yet here you stand with us, unfazed. It must be because Kali feels you can help stop this war."
Ollie looked at his brothers. "Gods, this war. This can't continue. What if Wyndingo and I do mate and it doesn't bring anyone back? They can't continue this fighting."
"We agree, Ollie, but what can we do?" Toby asked in despair.
"Whatever it is, needs to be quick. We cannot maintain the stopping of time for much longer. Already we grow weak," Helio stated.
Pascal sniffled, wiped his eyes, whispering, "Please hold on as long as you can. I can't stand seeing our friends like this. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm almost glad that Zen and I died together. I would hate to find out that he was willing to kill the very people I looked at as family."
"Oh by the Gods, Pascal, you are a genius!" Ollie shouted.
Wyndingo didn't understand, and if his brothers’ looks of confusion were any indication, neither did they. "What did I miss?"
His present-day mate was all smiles as he replied, "If we can open the portal, I want to go back to our time and get a few people that I know can help."
