He reached out and touched my face. “You’re almost as beautiful. Maybe I can… just once… make it even…”

Vaughn touched his pants with his other hand. I started to shake even more. There was no way this could happen. He couldn’t touch me… not like this…

  The door opened again.

  “Sir?”

Vaughn turned, taking his attention off me. “What?”

  “Call for you.”

  “Who?”

“Devil Call MC. They found Jade.”

The words made me cry out in relief.

Vaughn then looked down at me. “She’s…”

He didn’t speak another word. He walked toward the door and pointed back to me. The guy that entered the room rushed to me and untied me from the chair. He stood me up and pulled me close to him

“Don’t fucking be stupid,” he said. “It’s almost over.”

The guy led me to an elevator and then through a back door. We were in a parking garage and a black car waited. It shouldn’t have surprised me that Vaughn was already in the car. He looked scared yet relieved. He was hurrying to play with his tie, his shirt. He kept running his hands through his hair and rubbing his jaw. Trying to clean himself up for Jade. It was, in a sick way, almost romantic how nervous he was to see her again.

The car moved and Vaughn refused to look at me. I was in the backseat of the car, completely free of any restraints. I wasn’t sure how this was going to go down though. Whether Vaughn and Jade could be trusted or not. And even if everything went to plan - I returned to Talon and Jade returned to Vaughn - they would still all be at war. Unless Talon did something else… to show faith and power.

It was all I could think about, desperate not to lose trust and faith in Talon and Devil Call MC.

We drove out to an open spot with only one small structure. That being the Rilen Lost bar. The car made a big turn and I looked out the window. It was a complete stand down right now. Devil Call MC had guns pointed at Rilen Lost. Rilen Lost had their guns pointed at Devil Call MC. Drave was on his ass, someone holding his hair with a gun pointed at him. He looked hurt and bloody. I saw all the Rilen Lost motorcycles on the ground, too. It looked messy and heated.

But I didn’t see Layne or Talon.

The car came to a stop and Vaughn hurried to open the door. He reached for me at the same time he reached for his weapon. That’s when I became a hostage in the ordeal.

We stood at the back of the black car and waited.

“What the fuck is this?” someone shouted.

“This is a meeting,” Vaughn said. “What the fuck are you doing, Jack? Where’s…”

Jony? I thought. Jony is dead.

“I’m in control of all this,” Jack said. “All you motherfuckers… all you wanted was to fuck us. And now we’re fucking you.”

“Where’s Layne? Talon? Where’s my Jade?”

Jack let out a cackle. “Pretty Jade…”

  “She’s here,” a voice yelled.

I saw Layne racing from the back of the bar. He ran, gun in his hand, and pointed it toward Vaughn.

  “Where?” Vaughn asked.

“We need Evelry first,” Layne said. “That’s the deal. That’s the only deal.”

  “Fuck you,” Vaughn said.

“Just show him Jade,” I cried out. “Just let him see…”

  “Let him see,” Jack added.

The war zone started to get more tense by the second.

  “She’s really here?” Vaughn asked.

“I promise you,” Jack said. “She’s here.”

  “He’s right,” Layne said. “Talon is… he’s bringing her…”

Vaughn looked at Jack. “You took her?”

“Me and Jony did,” Jack said.

  “You took my Jade…”

Vaughn lowered his gun and pushed at my shoulder. I made no mistake and ran from the car toward Layne. Vaughn walked slowly to the front of the car. I jumped into Layne’s arms and let out a cry.

That should have been the pinnacle of it all.

  But it wasn’t.

“We took her,” Jack said. “But I fucking killed her.”

I turned my head just as Talon walked from behind the bar.

  Carrying Jade’s lifeless body…

  13.

  (Talon)

I walked along the bar and saw a few things that caught my attention. Everly was in Layne’s arms. Her eyes were big, beautiful, and she was crying. I saw Jack with a gun to Drave’s head, a look of evil on the asshole’s face, like he thought he was going to win this war. And then finally, I saw Vaughn. The stupid drug peddling piece of shit, leaning against the hood of car, a hand in front of his mouth. He was processing what had happened to his stepsister. I could respect that. And as said, Devil Call MC had nothing to do with this bullshit.

Part of me was a little pissed that Jack got the kill I wanted. But Jack and Rilen Lost were going to pay and keep paying for this kind of shit.

I made a line right for Vaughn, holding Jade, and staring at him. His eyes kept switching between me and the body in my arms. I could tell there was a quick flicker of innocence as though he expected Jade to just pop up and be okay.

I stopped a few feet in front of Vaughn. “I’m sorry, Vaughn. I tried…”

“What happened to her?” he asked.

“Jack shot her. I heard them and before I could get there…”

Vaughn reached out with shaking hands. He stepped toward me. He put a hand to Jade’s head and touched her hair. He reached for her hand and took it. He squeezed and shook.

“Wake up,” he said. “You can wake up…”

“She’s gone, man,” I said. “I’m so sorry.”

I wasn’t fucking sorry. I was keeping control of the situation.

Slowly, I started to drop down. I gently placed Jade on the ground. I stayed crouched and watched Vaughn fall to his knees. He let his face fall right to Jade’s breasts and started to cry like a baby.

I stood and turned, looking at Everly. She moved from Layne and came charging at me. I wrapped my fucking arms around her so tight she let out a gasping breath, desperate for air.

“Fucking Christ, I love you,” I whispered into her ear. “I fucking love you, Everly. This is almost over.”

“I love you, Talon,” she said back.

I put a hand out and pushed her behind me. I needed to keep her safe.

Vaughn slowly looked up at me, tears running down his cheeks. “What do I do now?”

“You get revenge,” Layne said. “And then we end it all.”

Vaughn looked at Layne. “What does that mean?”

“We had nothing to do with this,” Layne said. “But out of respect for yourself and your lost loved one… this is for you…”

Before I could even think about what the fuck was going to happen next, Layne took out his gun. He straightened his right arm and turned his head at the last second before pulling the trigger.

Jack was too stupid to realize he was the fucking target. Maybe he thought he was in power or somehow untouchable since Jony was dead, and he technically was the new President of Rilen Lost.

The bullet tore through the side of Jack’s head, spraying his own guys with his blood and brains. Jack crumbled to the ground and Drave lunged forward, escaping. Everyone started screaming, both sides of the war wondering who was going to pull the next trigger.

Layne took a shot in the air and silence fell again. “That takes care of that. The rest of you fuckers from Rilen Lost better go back inside your bar, drink to your dead, and never come out of that hell hole again. Or we will take you all down piece by fucking piece.”

Vaughn let out a cry. “You killed him. The man who killed my Jade. You did that for me… for us…”

Layne nodded. “That’s right, Vaughn. We keep our words of honor. And we never lie. You fucking shot before looking, didn’t you?”

“I guess I did,” Vaughn said. “All in good cause. I
have her back now. I’ll take care of her.”

He put his focus back on Jade’s body before him. One hand touched her cheek, his other hand touching her body. It was kind of sick and sad to watch.

I looked at Layne and he nodded to me.

A sign of respect I guess.

  This was all mine now.

I looked back at Everly. Our eyes met and we didn’t need to speak to talk to each other. I was going to keep my promise and keep my honor.

I slowly took my gun out and pointed it down, right at the back of Vaughn’s head. He had no fucking clue what I was doing.

“I’ll take care of you,” he whispered to Jade. “I’ll always…”

“For Jagg. For Austin. For Devil Call. You motherfucking piece of shit.”

“My sweet Jade,” Vaughn whispered. He touched her hair again.

I pulled the trigger and ended the entire goddamn thing once and for all.

My hand was tight around the gun… almost as tight as Everly’s hand around my fucking heart.

  **

I thrust fucking hard and deep into Everly. I started to come and just held there. My fingers digging into her hips, pulling her tight and feeling her sweet insides clenching and releasing, beautifully working with my cock. I hovered over her, staring into this beautiful eyes that had been captured for good. She groaned each time I came, lifting her hips a little and rocking them. Keeping that sweet and sexy pressure on me.

When I finished, I slowly pulled out and slid back in. Over and over, feeling the mess we created together. The warmth and wetness, our scents filling the air. The sweat on her skin glistening, her stomach lifting and lowering fast as she tried to catch her breath.

I leaned down and kissed her. Our lips and tongues becoming ravenous, knowing damn well just how easy in life any kiss could become a last kiss. That meant each one had to fucking count.

If it were up to me, I’d fucking remain there for the rest of the day - fuck, the rest of my fucking life - and just kiss Everly. Then I’d get hard again, fuck her, come inside her, and kiss her until I was hard again. Over and fucking over.

But the moment had to end. Because everything came to an end. No matter what.

I moved from her sweet body and stared at her. Those perfect handful sized tits. That tight body. Those curvy hips. The sultry pinkness between her legs, wet and messy right now. So delicious all around, I gritted my teeth as I grabbed my jeans off the floor.

I got dressed and Everly stood from the bed, still naked. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her in for another kiss.

  “I love you,” I said.

“I love you,” she said back.

“Be here waiting,” I said. “Naked.”

  “Is that a command?”

“Fucking hell it is,” I growled. I touched her face. “I fucking love you, Everly, but I’m always in command.”

She smirked at me. She didn’t need to reply to speak the real truth… which was she was the one in fucking command. Of my heart, my life, my everything. And I was okay with it.

I left the room and went to meet Layne. A private one on one meeting at the table. When I sat down, the first thing I saw was the VP patch on the table. Layne touched it and slid it toward me.

  “What?” I asked.

  “For you.”

I lifted the patch. I rubbed it with my fingers. Then I threw it in Layne’s face. “Fuck that. There’s only one patch I’m going to wear.”

Layne looked down at his left breast. The President’s patch.

He nodded and said, “That much I figured. Just trying to play the right cards here.”

“It’s been a fucking hell of a day, man. I don’t care about the right cards anymore.”

“Okay. Then let’s just take a second and celebrate what’s been done. Rilen Lost out of the way. For now. Jade and Vaughn gone and dead. Everly has the video of you killing Tommy.”

“And their suppliers and shit?” I asked. “That’ll be another war.”

“Maybe. But I heard that they were bad at business. So maybe we did a favor. Who the fuck knows…”

“There’s one more problem,” I said. “If we’re going to keep going with this track record of blood and destruction.”

Layne gave a nod. “What’s that?”

“Detective John,” I said. “He’s not going to stop, Layne. Digging in my past. Your past. Everly’s past. Being a pain to the MC.”

“I see that,” Layne said. “You know he beat me up… when you weren’t around.”

  “What?”

“I was twelve. I don’t know where you were. I was alone down by the quarry. Just sitting there. And he showed up. Made up some story about a disturbance. He was drunk and started shooting at me. I had to dodge bullets and splintering pieces of rock. He chased me until I fucking twisted my ankle on a rock and then went down. He jumped on me and beat the shit out of me with his gun…”

“That was… fuck, Layne… you told me two guys jumped you and took your money.”

  “I know,” he said.

“You lied to me, man. About that?”

  “Yeah.”

  “Why?”

“Because you would have killed him.”

“Fuck yeah I would have. Fuck, man.”

“It’s okay. I’ve waited. You’ve waited. And it’s worked out.”

“What the fuck does that mean?” I asked.

“Now’s the time, Talon. We do it. Right. Together.”

“You want to kill Detective John?” I asked, smiling.

  Layne nodded.

And for the first time in a long time, I felt close to him again. I rose from my chair and Layne did the same. We looked at each for a few seconds and then we hugged. We fucking hugged each other. My best friend. My goddamn brother. The one who was with me through all the shit.

We hugged and it felt okay to do.

We were going to do this… the riskiest thing of our lives. We were going to kill Detective John.

I broke the hug and said, “This is going to be…”

“I know,” Layne said. “We’ll figure it out. We’ll make it work. It’s going to be messy…”

  “Yeah, I get it.”

I turned and started to walk. I looked at the Devil Call MC logo on the wall. I stopped for one damn second to take it all in… and I did…

A hot burning sensation hit my back. I opened my mouth to scream but nothing came out. All I could think was that I’d been shot. Someone shooting through the window again. Trying to take me out. Trying to take Layne out.

I turned my head, mouth still open.

And there was Layne. A foot away from me. His hand at my back. I could see far enough to realize what the fuck had just happened…

Layne had just stabbed me in the back. Literally.
