Back to my Roots

Page 26

by Tessa Elaine

Once she seen it was me she wrapped herself around me. Right where she belongs. It took too long for her to tell me she was okay and when she spoke her voice sounded like sand paper. This dick-bag is going to pay for what he did to her. The sheriff will be here any minute, but I just don't think that's enough.

“Darlin’, can you hold this for me?” I ask Elena, holding the shotgun in her direction.

She looks at me like I have lost my mind. From the way I'm feeling right now that's a damn good possibility.

“Darlin’, all you have to do is hold it. You don't have to point it at anyone.”

She tentatively takes it from me and holds it against her shoulder. I know she's not shy around guns, her dad had her shooting everything before she was sixteen. If I wasn't in the mood to kill, I would take a minute to admire how sexy Elena is holding that shotgun.

When I take a step, she starts to panic.

“What are you doing?” I hear the worry in her voice. I keep walking toward Breck until we are a foot apart.

“I have wanted to do this for a long time.” I tell him and before he can answer I break his nose.

One hit and he crumbles to the ground and he is out cold. I turn to Dorian and he falls to the fetal position with his head tucked. What a little punk.

“I told your sorry ass to stay away from her.” He doesn't say anything, he just lays there.

When the sheriff gets here things get a little crazy. Breck and Dorian try to lie their way out of it, but the gas can in the car and the one in the barn corroborate our story. And it helps that the sheriff hates Breck as much as the rest of the town.

Breck and Dorian are loaded into the back of the sheriff's car while Elena and I give our statements. It feels like we have been here for hours by the time I cut in.

“Sheriff, is it okay if I take Elena home?” It is pitch black out here and the temperature has dropped.

“Yea Lucas, that will be just fine. If I need anything else I will just give you a call.” He nods his head and collects the evidence as he walks back to his car.

I walk Elena to the truck and help her inside. She doesn't move and just keeps looking at the house, with this far off look.

“You okay, darlin’?” I ask because I can't read her expression. She finally turns back to me with a sad look in her eyes.

“I almost lost the only thing I have left of my parents. Lucas, I almost lost the ranch.” She looks back at the house and shakes her head. I just stay quiet, letting her work through it.

“He almost burnt the ranch down, all for some stupid hotel. I could never bring myself to sell it, I always thought that's what I wanted but...” She stops and looks back at me and this time there is hope in her eyes.

“But what, darlin’?” She smiles and pulls me in for a soft kiss. I have very little patients right now, after seeing Elena in that position. I'm barely restraining myself from throwing her over my shoulder, stomping back to our house, and locking her inside. I never want to experience that kind of fear again. Just a few minutes longer and I would have lost her for good.

I shake my head trying to get rid of that thought. I have to keep reminding myself, “you were on time, she is okay.” I run my hands all over her body reassuring myself she really is okay.

“Lucas” she says softly and I look up at her.

  “Yes darlin’?”

She rests her forehead on mine and whispers. “I want to raise our family on this ranch.”

I let out a sigh and tell her. “Whatever you want, darlin’.”

The next two weeks fly by. Elena gets the job at the private practice in town. She was overjoyed about working with Dr. Andrew. We are still living in the cabin; the ranch needs work before we move in. I was relieved that Elena kept the ranch. I don't want her to have any regret, the ranch means everything to her. There are amazing memory's there for her and almost losing it was scary. I'm looking forward to raising our kids where Elena and I grew up.

We both thought it was a little crazy, Dorian helping Breck. I thought it was about getting Elena back and Elena thought I was reaching. Come to find out Dorian's father cut him off. The guy is flat broke and can't get a dime until he’s married. So, he thought he could work with Breck to get Elena back. If she had nothing in Eureka she would come back to him. That asshole was so wrong, even without the ranch she will always have me.

We both work through the day and our nights and weekends are spent together. I can't keep my hands off this woman and I know that's something that will never change. I called her while she was at work today and told her to wear something comfortable that I was taking her out tonight.

I have to stop at my parents’ house on the way home. Mom and dad love having Elena so close, mom calls every night asking us over for dinner. And when Elena has the phone, we have dinner with my folks. I'm a little selfish and I don't like sharing Elena's attention.

Tonight, I have plans for us. Mom said she would help any way she can, so I gave her a list of food and asked if she could get something out of the safe for me. When I pull up dad is sitting on the porch waiting on me. I walk up and he just points to the chair across from him. I take a seat and wait for him to speak.

“I just want to talk to you for a minute man to man.” I shake my head in understanding. “Elena's father is not here for you to ask for her hand in marriage.” My head snaps up, mom must have told him my plans for tonight. “Your mother went to the safe and got grandmas ring out. Nothing in this house goes on without me knowing.” I have no idea where he is going with this. Mom was overjoyed about me proposing to Elena, I thought dad would feel the same way.

“You need to call her aunt and uncle and ask for their blessing. Joseph might not be here, but you can still do this the right way.” I nod and go to stand and dad holds up his hand stopping me.

“I also want to tell you how proud I am of you for stepping up when the family needed you. I know this is not what you had in mind for your future, but you have done well son.”

My father does not hand out compliments lightly. It means a lot that he's proud of me. Family means everything to me. He stands and I do the same, I hold out my hand, but the old man pulls me in for a hug.

“Now make your call so you can make an honest woman out of our girl.” I laugh and pull out my phone.

I call Grace and James and ask them for their niece’s hand. Grace is ecstatic and James is honored that I asked them. They are very happy for us and they tell me they will be waiting for their wedding invitation. I hang up and head inside my parent's house to get everything I need.

When I pull up to the house Elena is coming out, I walk around and open the door for her. She has on jeans, boots and a flannel button up. You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. I slide into the driver seat and pull out of the driveway.

“Where are you taking me?” She looks over and smiles.

  “You will see.”

Damn, she looks perfect. I can't wait to see my ring on her finger. We drive a little ways and I start to get nervous about my plan. I don't want to screw this up. It doesn't take long and we are pulling down a familiar dirt road. I turn the truck around and park it with the tail gate facing the lake.

“Stay right here, darlin’.” I slid out of the truck and head to the back before she can ask any questions. I set everything up in the back and then go to her door. I open it and hold out my hand, she looks a little confused and my nerves kick in. I hope I am doing the right thing. She finally takes my hand and slides out of the truck.

I walk her to the back of the truck and go to help her in when she stops me with a hand to my chest. “This feels a little familiar Lucas,” she says looking at all the pillows and blankets in the back.

The food and beer are sitting on the blanket in the center. Shit I hope this isn't too crazy. I don't think I can wait any longer, I go a little crazier each day without my ring on her finger. Elena has been mine since we were kids and it's
time to do what I have wanted to do for a long time.

“Darlin’, let's have dinner and I will explain everything.” She nods her head and lets me help her in the back.

I climb in and get comfortable before I lay out dinner. After grabbing us both a bottle of beer we fall into a comfortable silence while we eat. When she's done she sits her plate aside and finishes her beer. She puts her bottle down and turns to me with her hands in her lap. She has that sweet smile on her face and my chest tightens with what is to come.

I quickly pack up our dishes and sit the basket to the side. I pull Elena over into my lap with her back to my chest and lace our fingers together. I guess I should just start at the beginning.

“I know you're wondering why we’re here.” I start to tell her.

“You mean, why you are recreating our first date?” She says with a raised brow. Okay, so she does remember.

“Yes...” I hesitate, feeling a little anxious. “Why I'm recreating our first date. Elena, that night was one of the best and worst of my life.” She looks down at her hands and shakes her head. She feels the same why I do, that night started out amazing and ended in tragedy. “I want to do this right darlin’, and I feel like we got cheated that night. We have been cheated out of the last seven years.”

  She tries to say something.

“Lucas” But I stop her from interrupting.

“Darlin’, let me finish.” She smiles and tucks her chin, waiting on me to continue.

“I have been in love with you most of our life. The night you agreed to go out with me, I was so happy. I knew you had a crush on me, but I wasn't sure you loved me the way I loved you.

She is smiling and shaking her head like I am insane. But I continue.

“That night you gave me your heart and I gave you mine. You are the only women I have ever loved. You are my first, believe it or not; I had never been with a woman.” Her head snaps up and her eyes are wide.

“But... All those girls at school?” she protests. I knew about all the rumors the girls in high school made up. Why I have no idea.

“Lies, darlin’. I never slept with any of them.” She swallows and runs her sweaty palms down her jeans. Does knowing I was a virgin when we had sex the first time make her nervous. I reach into my jacket pocket and pull out the small black box.

“You were my first and I want you to be my last.” I wrap my arms around her and bring the box to her hands and open it. I whisper in her ear. “Make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife, Elena?”

I pull out my grandma's antique white gold, two carat princess cut diamond. It's beautiful with the large diamond in the middle, two medium diamonds on each side, and the band and around the larger diamonds is covered in 1 ¾ carat round diamonds. Her hands fly to her mouth and she turns in my lap to face me.

I pull the ring out of the box and wait for her answer. I see a tear roll down her cheek and I'm worried I pushed too hard again. Then she takes all my anxiety and throws it out the window when her arms go around my neck and her lips crash onto mine. Her kiss is hard and passionate,

She is devouring me. I squeeze her ass and drag her closer. When we are both out of breath I lean back just a little.

“So, is that a yes?” I whisper nipping at her lip.

“Yes, yes, yes.” She says between each kiss.

Elena leans back and holds out her left hand, letting me slide the ring on her finger and I'm relieved it fits perfect. I was prepared to have it re-sized if needed, but it looks perfect on her hand. Like it was meant for her. She holds it out staring down at it.

“Lucas, it's beautiful. I love it so much. I love you so much.” I kiss behind her ear and nip at her neck.

“It was my grandmas, it looks beautiful right there.” I bring her hand to my lips and kiss the ring. “I love you, darlin’.”

I say and kiss her lips, slowly tasting her.

“I love you, too.” She says and straddles my lap.

Elena starts rubbing her jean clad pussy up and down my crotch. My cock grows as she pursues my mouth and rides my lap. I wasn't planning on taking her at the lake, I thought we would go home and spend the night in front of the fire.

“Elena, do you want to pack this up and go home?” Elena shakes her head and her hands go to my shirt.

“No, Lucas I need you inside me now.” God, she is too good to be true. We tear at each other until our clothes are scattered all over the bed of the truck.

“Make love to me, Lucas.” She says to me.

“Always” I say and lay her back on all the blankets.

I line myself up to her and slowly slide all the way home. With one hand on the side of her neck and the other pulling her knee to my hip. I start to move in and out at a steady pace. Her warm pussy grips my cock like its desperate to be filled with my seed. I lean down taking her nipple into my mouth, sucking hard. Her back comes off the blanket and she is panting my name.

“Lucas, baby. I need more, please.”

I take turns back and forth, giving her breast equal attention. Sucking hard and then scraping my teeth across the tip. I feel her contract around me and I know she is close. I drive into Elena a couple more times and her orgasm has my balls growing tight. I can feel my release at the base of my spin. I feel it move threw my body like flames, heating my blood. My mind goes blank and I can barely push through Elena's orgasm, she is squeezing me so tight.

I grunt her name with my release and almost collapse on top of her. I can feel my cum leaking out of her between us. I pull out slowly and lay next to her. Tracing her nipples with my fingers and down her stomach. I slide them between her lips and coat them with my seed rubbing it into her clit. Then I slide a finger inside her pussy, pushing my cum back into her. Where it belongs.

I have never sounded like such a cave-man until Elena came back into my life. She moans my name and squeezes my fingers. Pressing my thumb to her clit and sliding in a second finger it takes just a few strokes before she is cumming all over my hand. I slide my hand back up making slow circles around her navel enjoying this moment together.

We lay there naked under the blankets looking up at the stars for hours. We just talk about us, about the ranch, and about the wedding. After I make her cum with my mouth a couple more times she starts to fall asleep on my chest. I stand and get dressed while she curls up in the blanket. It takes no time to pack everything up and I just scoop Elena up in her cocoon and sit her in the passenger seat.

We get back to the house and I waste no time. I pick her up and carry her straight to our bed. I lay her down and strip, climbing in behind her. She snuggles back into me and I wrap my body around her. I drift off with thoughts of the future and I couldn't be happier.

Elena is home, I got the girl and she said yes. We will start construction on the ranch soon and Elena can bring her birthday gift home. Life has a funny way of working itself out. I never thought we could have this second chance. The minute she walked back into my life I was done. There was no way I couldn't fight the rest of my life to keep her by my side. Elena is everything to me and I will show her for the rest of our lives.

  Epilogue

  Elena

Almost losing the ranch was like a smack in the face. It made me realize how much I truly love this place and all of the wonderful memories it holds for me. The only thing I have left of my parents was almost lost because of two assholes that didn’t get what they wanted. To think I almost sold my family's legacy to that awful man. It made me really think of what my mom and dad would want for me and I know they would want me to be happy. No matter where that is.

It has been seven years since I’ve been here and it is so hard to make myself get out of the car. I’m sitting here staring at my mother and father's head stones. I feel so much guilt for not coming to see them sooner. I just couldn’t ever figure out what to say, I was such a coward for running from everything. I climb out of the car and slowly make my way over to them with mom's favorite flowers in my hand. My dad wou
ld always buy her lilies for every occasion and sometimes just to see her smile.

I kneel down in front of the head stone and place the flowers in front of it, I can already feel the tears burning in my eyes and my throat is tight with all of the emotions I am feeling.

The first word that leave my lips are on a sob “I’m sorry” I tell them. “I should have come to you guys sooner, but losing you crushed me. I never thought I could recover from it and some days I still feel like I’m holding on by a thread.” I whip my eyes and take a couple deep breaths. “I finally made it back home, it hasn’t been easy but I have Lucas and Sarah at my side. Eva and Barrett have been so supportive and helpful. We all miss you both like crazy.” When I first started to talk to them it felt weird because no one was talking back to me but after a little while I couldn’t stop.

I told them about the engagement and the construction we are going to do to the ranch, I told them I am pregnant but I haven’t told Lucas yet. I will make sure my children know who their grandparents were. After what seems like hours I feel like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders, just being able to come here and talk to them makes me feel a little closer to them. I know they would be proud of me and that they loved me fiercely. I will do everything I can to carry on their name with the ranch and to be happy because I know that's what they would want for me.

Two weeks after Lucas proposed we planned an engagement party. I could not be happier, Lucas has made all my dreams come true and more. We started working on the ranch last week. Lucas said we should start with the barn so I can bring my birthday present home soon. I'm really excited to have a horse again, I haven't ridden a horse in a long time.

Tonight, is the night of the party to celebrate our upcoming wedding. Lucas gave me no time at all to plan any of this. He said the longest he would wait was six months, so I had better get to work. I tried to talk him into more time, but his reason won my heart.
