Ben stepped back in complete awe for the first time. The happiness in Reginald’s face when he spoke about Rina’s mother. If he could love a person with such emotion, why did he act the way he did with Rina?

“I think a summer wedding would be wonderful. The gardens in the backyard would be absolutely perfect,” Reginald said.

  Rina smiled politely. “Of course.”

“Or, you could let Rina act like a bride and make the decisions herself, Reggie,” Ben said, clasping hands with Rina, squeezing lightly.

“Do not call me Reggie,” Reginald said with thin lips.

“Don’t try to control Rina and I won’t call you Reggie. Deal?” Ben said brightly.

“I can already see interesting family dynamics.”

“Are you welcoming me into the family already? That’s so nice of you. I’m glad to be joining your family, Reginald.” Laughing would be bad, but oh, how he wanted to. The enjoyment of messing with Reginald. Like the times he wanted to see Rina lose her control, he now ached to see Reginald lose a little bit of control.

“Let’s join Thomas. I’m sure he’ll be back soon with the champagne.” Reginald turned, then glanced at Rina. “I would love to hear what would make you happy for your wedding.”

“Thank you, Father. I have no idea what I want. This was a surprise,” Rina said, leaning into Ben as she rested her head on his shoulder.

“Well, then, you won’t mind some suggestions,” Reginald said with a tiny smirk as he glanced toward Ben.

“We’d love to hear your suggestions,” Ben replied.

Reginald continued forward. They slowly followed him. Ben stopped her before walking into the library.

“I can’t help myself when it comes to your father. I don’t like it when he treats you that way. I’ll try harder to be nice the rest of the evening,” he said quietly.

“I think that went very well, actually.”

“Are you kidding me? We weren’t exactly cordial to each other.”

“For my father, that was cordial. He surprised me. I guess I have Thomas to thank for that.”

Ben thought about it before saying anything. “Or maybe he just saw how happy you are and realized he needed to back off a little. He really loved your mother.”

“He did. He does. He was a softer man when she was alive. It broke his heart when she died.” She lifted her finger, tracing the diamond. “I can’t believe you asked me to marry you already.”

“I wasn’t lying. I really didn’t want to give him a chance to change his mind. I would’ve hated to get married without his permission. But I would have. Because I love you. Remember, it’s the next logical step,” he said, raising his eyebrows playfully.

“You and your way of thinking. I like it. And I love you.”

He leaned closer, whispering in her ear, “I can’t wait to love you at home.”

  “You’ll always love me?”

  “Always.”

  One Taste of You

  One night of glorious bliss.

One night turned into utter humiliation.

Zoe Sullivan doesn’t want to see the man who took her for a prostitute ever again. But when her boss is murdered, she can’t believe who the lead detective on the case is.

  One idiotic mistake.

One more chance to make it right.

Detective Zeke Chance vows to make it up to Zoe for the way he treated her. Nothing will stop him—except maybe the killer.

Warning: This novel contains a sexy detective. There is insta-lust turned into insta-love. If you don’t want to read that kind of book, turn back now! But you know you wanna.

  About the Author

I love anything that has to do with romance. As long as there’s a happy ending, I’m a happy camper. I love baseball (Go Twins!) and creating awesome crafts. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, working in that field for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom. When I’m not hanging out with my wonderful family, I’m writing a sweet contemporary romance or a romantic suspense that keeps you guessing until the end. I have a few more amazing stories in the works. If you would like to connect with me or see important news, head to my website at http://www.amandasiegrist.wordpress.com.
